Feel free to post your own (especially in comfy appalachia)!
>>2189368About to dump from my recent WV trip
>>2189378Eww gross noCamping is for LARPersThis thread is for casual dayhikers who enjoy LUSH DECIDUOUS forests that are close to comfy homo-friendly airbnbs with ice water>>2189383please stop ruining my thread
>>2189391>conifer countryIf you're going to share pictures at least post pictures of LUSH DECIDUOUS forestsi don't like conifers they make me feel uncomfortableespecially since homophobic rednecks come from conifer country
>>2189378>>2189383>>2189391nice! where did you go? which was your favorite thing you did?
>>2189409Kinda drove all over the state and just camped where I could or felt fitting!Monongahela National Forest was definitely one of the highlights of the trip, spent a few days there. Tons of trails that are either unlisted or are just not well recorded. Found some trees growing in the middle of the road, and didn't hear a car for days, very cool time.Baker's run was great camping, clear 10ft water and you could watch the Pike swim by while casting, some of the most fun I had fishing that week. Spruce Knob and Seneca rocks are cool as fuck too, but they're a bit bigger for tourists. I only stayed in that area for about a day or two.Stopped in Charleston to see if I could find a dive bar for a cold drink and I'd recommend skipping it altogether, stay to the woods. If you end up in Franklin (I think it was), there's a distillery with a dude named Vic-Bob that makes the best goddamn apple brandy you'll ever taste. $45 a bottle, but worth every sip.
>>2189418>If you end up in Franklin (I think it was), there's a distillery with a dude named Vic-Bob that makes the best goddamn apple brandy you'll ever taste. $45 a bottle, but worth every sip.You mean the guy who sells at loafer's glory bed and breakfast? There's a number of different apple brandies available in WV. It is branded as dry run spirits. I got the apple pie brandy. I guess I am not familiar with Baker's Run. There's tons of stuff NEAR spruce knob and seneca rocks that is much less crowded.
just got back from my first trip here (should be ez pz guess)
>>2189449I know someone who just got back from a backpacking trip in the Sierras. You're not my former coworker, are you...?
>>2189473Jimmy??Nah I was car camping, not backpacking
>>2189384Please stop drawing breath
>>2189474How was it? My buddy just got back from a trip through this area https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/stanislaus/recarea/?recid=14967 he said it was hot and miserable the whole time, and the some part of the area had burned so there wasn't much there. Picrel is one of my favorite places to hike. Right outside of Kirkwood in California.
>>2189477It was very hot the last few days, yeah. I was in Yosemite, not Stanislaus, and cooled off my swimming above/under tons of waterfalls. Loved the trip but if it were like 20 degrees cooler in the valley it would've been way nicer. I'll have to check out more of Stanislaus next time I go. I'm based in LA so Sequoia is easier to get to.
>>2189477>https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/stanislaus/recarea/?recid=14967I live in the stan forrest, I'll have to check this out.
>>2189368I've had 3 camping trips cancelled in the past 2 months, I am full of rage. I may go for a long ass hike this weekend. Beautiful pictures anon.
Time for some good old abandoned urbex while hiking
>>2191332cancelled for what reason?where were you planning to go?
>>2191341abandoned pavilion? what is it? where is it?
>>2191342>cancelled for what reason?covid restrictions>where were you planning to go?west virginia :(do you know any good places i should definitely see once things get sorted out?
>>2191341Big queen snake, probably mama because lots of babies nearby.
>>2191342One was cancelled because fires, the other two were cancelled because people I was going to go with bailed at the last minute. I really should just do solo trips, but I'm married and it's hard as fuck to just dip away and say see you on Monday.
>>2191346I don't get how covid would affect a campground in West Virginia? Unless it was like with a school or institution and they made a decision to cancel it. >do you know any good places i should definitely see once things get sorted out?I've been eyeing this dispersed campground because it looks like maybe you could swim in the river there (glady fork):https://youtu.be/zC8c1NBuRygAlso, horseshoe run area has a campground and some real pretty - challenging hikes nearby.
>>2191345 Yep. Near an old park in western Pennsylvania. Good trail too but I don’t promote ease of access via the internet.I usually take videos because the still images are better quality than photos, I’ll try to dig up a couple images.
>>2191349And I take it the wife doesn't like to camp at all? I've heard from some here if you make it a "glamping" situation with nice air mattresses women might be more interested. Also consider doing one night trips, long day trips or, and don't hate me for this, renting an airbnb for the weekend and bringing the wife. Fires? West Coast?
>>2191352>Good trail too but I don’t promote ease of access via the internet.well that's not helpful :(I won't tell anyone I promise. I was recently at browns run trail in fayette county pa if thats nearby...
>>2191352I’ll post a couple more photos of stuff there. Nice park, abundance of queen snakes. Baby milk snakes are assholes.
>>2191357>I won't tell anyone I promise.i'll tell you if you promise to stop derailing up other discussion threads Like what you've done here >>2191175
>>2191357Above Pittsburgh by a fair amount. I’ve seen far too many people take to AllTrails and impede on remote areas, and therefore I shalln’t expose the exact position of any remaining trails. If you want good publicly known trails go to raccoon creek near hookstown, really nice place. I recommend you go near the outskirts of parks where no one travels to find good spots. Most of my photos are too high quality to post to 4chan, how unfortunate.
>>2191366But I don't post new trails to alltrails. >Most of my photos are too high quality to post to 4chan, how unfortunate.resize the images to be smaller, the photos your phone takes are enormous (like 50 inches+)make them 10-20 inches and they will fit here
>>2191366>I’ve seen far too many people take to AllTrails and impede on remote areas, and therefore I shalln’t expose the exact position of any remaining trails.Absolutely based>>2191367>But I don't post new trails to alltrailsWhat he's saying is he doesn't want non-locals going there
>>2191352>>2191366based, keep the alltrails filth out i've seen them destroy NEPA with my own eyesyou should be glad that out in SW PA you don't need to deal with tourists from new york and new jersey. At least their license plates are easy to spot
>>2191354Wife loves camping, but what I require for camping weighs about 5lbs, what she requires is upwards of 200lbs. It's just a different mind set, which I don't even really mind much at all. I love that she's willing to go out and spend time in nature, but it is all the stuff that we have to bring along for her version of camping. On top of that when we're both involved in planning a trip there is added stress which has resulted in one or both of us losing our temper and then the whole trip that we've worked hard to put together turns to shit for a few days. So that leaves me with the mixed feeling of wanting to go solo and light but at the cost of leaving someone I love, and want to be with, at home. It feels shellfish.
>>2191441gross, women are yuckythis is why women should be unironically enslavedthey do nothing but try to socially manipulate others while contributing nothing of value except crotchfruit
>>2191425>you don't need to deal with tourists from new york and new jerseyYeah, but they have to deal with pic related so don't get *too* envious
recently purchased a drone for /out/ photography and filmmaking, haven't made a webm in forever so this attempt might be shitbritish countryside is pretty comfy during golden hour though
Not recent, but it's what I got on my computer.
>>2189368>>2190024>>2190409>>2190451>>2191047>>2191083How was the swimming?
>>2192520extremely cold, the coldest water of any swimming hole I have visited this summer, I was only able to handle it for maybe 2 minutes then got out (I visited during a cold front though - outdoor air was cool as well)that said, water quality was absolutely tops (tons of fish in the water) it was deep though in the blue hole part, so deep I could not stand even though the creek was otherwise flowing sort of minimally and not very wide
>>2192520I am the >>2191047It was great. Refreshing but not to cold, you can easily relax in the water. And if you actually go in there further, there is a beautiful canyon with some caves.
>>2192817>>2191047where is dat?I like swimming in ice cold water, it makes my private parts feel relaxeddo you know if there are any airbnbs nearby? preferably ones that are gay-friendlyi have a very effeminate voice and i have encountered discrimination in the past because of my effeminate voice.
>>2192731nice cypress, b
>>2192912it looks like crap, i hate it.
>>2189368Rocky Fork state park, TN

>I have him and we're locked in on a dealI'll keep you updated with comfy deciduous /out/ pics, stay posted fren.
>>2192731Went out near the same area again today
>>2194448you freight hopping there... with a canoe?! Fuck DCHomo but also, 100% share info on your adventure.
>>2194448and two mondays before that
>>2194452no canoe, just riding along a lake on the CP line through BC. tired of driving everywhere, wanted to spend more time /out/ on a long distance trip to visit friends.had to become a pretty dedicated train nerd to figure out all the routes and schedules to get the fastest & most direct rides. but it means that camping in the mountains is less than a day’s ride away, any day of the week. and I don’t have to stay awake the whole damn time I’m moving
After lurking for a couple of years, this Sunday I finally got the motivation to go out. I got to walk an abandoned road near a mountain patch my grandma owns, and I gotta say it was more fun that I expected.
Rode my moto out to some dead town in Kyoto mountains. Many such cases of abandonment
Saxon Switzerland. Slept the night in this cave in the weekend. Pleasantly surprised at the amount of good /out/ in East Germany. It's not NZ but I can't get back there at the moment
>>2195427Another flick. Really cool place
It's so beautiful this time of year
Some photos from a trip to Haleakala Crater
>>2189391>>2189418>/out/>is inside their carget off my board
>>2196567Recent walk through a canyon
Love me some wetlands
>>2196740Springy soft moss
>>2196742Apparently there used to be a small lake here, now it's just a small young bog.
>>2196743Too bad it was too early for cranberries
>>2196282Fuck you nigger 4x4 is out
Some beautiful pics in this thread. Here's a few from my recent 4WD camping trip in Victoria, Aus.
>the same picture twicestunning
>told people on the hurricane server that a jidf kike is a janny>they leave in droveskind of funny desu
>>2192351Makes me miss living in England, but then I remember growing up in a poor, high crime council estate and I'm glad I live in NZ now. It really is a beautiful country in parts though, keen to visit after covid blows over.
>live in NZ>After covid blows overGood luck m8.
Mountains on polish-czech border - Karkonosze.
>>2197967Won't happen lole
You can see the disabled viewing platform located on the other side of the gorge from here.
>>2189368yooo i was just there a couple days ago. whats up, fellow appalachia bro.
>>2199074really, the blue hole swimming hole in forbes state forest, did you try any of the nearby trails? Did you go in the water? When I was there a cold front was passing through and it was the coldest water of any swimming hole I have tried this summer.
>>2198501Lake pleasant AZ China dam
>>2194465how did you learn? pls share info and is it dangereous/should i try?
>>2199780Not a bad view. Blackwater Falls State Park is a real gem.
>>2199887And you can see it right from the parking lot almost (pendleton point). Picnic benches and regular benches too. Ample parking. Much less crowded than the falls themselves. There's also Lindy Point, Pase Point (that I have seen), and Table Rock (have not done this one yet) - other views of the same canyon from different angles.
very nice boardwalk near the owens creek campground in the catoctin area near thurmont md - didn't know it was gonna be there, short boardwalk led up to mill ruins and the campground itself - to the west of camp david and the more popular areas of catoctin
Appalachian master race. Westerners will seethe.
>>2191135I like this one a lot. It's got a good feeling to it.
>>2201776There was a cold front in the area at the time. I woke up really early and went for a walk. This was about 7am in the morning I think. The fog was mostly gone an hour later. Thanks!
Recently went around Targhee NF
Swamplands hike (more like a walk) from earlier today. Saw a few turtles, a spotted deer, a snake, tons of frogs, three great blue herons, two egrets, and a yellow warbler.
>>2202274have a terrible pic of a water-noodle (it was very skittish)
>>2202283I didn't take as many wildlife pics as I normally do at this location. My only close-up shot was of this deer.
>>2204153partially up washington looking at monroe?
>>2189368absolutely beautiful, my favourite kind of ledging mixed with clear water
Another LBL sunrise. I hate asian carp with a passion. Completely ruined the fishing in large parts of the Tennessee River.
Bugs suck and it's still a bit too hot out for my tastes but this trail was very prettycan't wait until autumn proper rolls around and all the leaves change color
>>2205622forgot to attach pic but looks like thread is at limit
