How to filter out larpers:
Youre going Out for a while. You plan to build a shelter and stay there for a while, or build shelters as you progress.

One like this, perfect for fresh wood
>>
>>1981279
Both those saws suck. One is some chinkshit 16tpi blade that will clog every two strokes through green wood. The other one is a slightly less useless option, but is a rusty piece of chinkshit that is most likely dull and depending on how bad the rust is may start breaking teeth. Without a file and a sawset, it’s mostly useless as well.
>>
>>1981481
This is my choice too. I've cut a shit ton of wood over the years using a bow saw.

I used to see shitty shelters around the local hiking trails and they are an eyesore.
There's really no need to build one unless you're lost in the bush or maybe camping out in the bush. But of you're in a fucking park or on a trail then stop larping and cutting down trees for no reason.
>>
>>1981516
The only legitimate reason to cut down stuff anywhere but your land is:
>you are homeless or in need and cannot find any other shelter
>stranded or lost
Otherwise you should bring a tent and stop trying to look cool by destroying shit.

Larpers think small saw is more compact. They are wrong, bigger saw is
flat and will fit the back of any backpack with ease.
Also its not heavier, they are similar weight.

Realistically speaking I’d bring a handsaw, a good quality rip saw, a backsaw for any fine work and a triangular file. I’d also need a vise of some type but you can improvise with a set of clamps and boards if you must. Also some 3 in 1 oil to make sharpening go faster
>>
>>1982177

>Better than every portable hand saw. I'm not mtbiking with anything heavier

I have a decent one and from my experience:
Small ones are garbage toys.
Strong wide grips are a must.
Its not lighter than any of other saws posted here.
Its worse for cutting small branches, but its God Mode when cutting bigger trees. It really works wonders.
Better 2 than 1, with two men you dont have to wrap saw around the tree and it wont get stuck as often.
Getting a quality one is a must, with cheap chinkshit the teeth will often lock on each other, sometimes for good and saw is useless.

Hard to find a good quality ones though, with market flooded with chink shit. At least here in EU, maybe in Burgeria there is wider choice.
>>

>>
>>1981285
>>1983073
I honestly never needed to sharpen a saw, maybe cause they are hardened.
But than again Im not a lumberjack and rarely use mine.
I only sharpened my firewood chainsaws. I mean I pay people to do it, I cant be bothered.
>>
>>1982896
I had decent luck with the one I posted. Don't care about small branches I can ride over or break with man-hands.
>>
>>1981279
>>
>>1983073
They're not hardened all the way through so if you start filing on them you remove the hardened surface destroying the saw.
If a tooth hardened saw is dull you throw it away, the edge lasts a long time on them though.
>>
>>1983439
I'm sure only the very last atom of each tooth is hardened.

Larping is pretending to be someone you are not. I don't know where you live, but in here, nobody will say a word to teens, scouts or adults with kids who build small huts for fun. Actually its encouraged.
Im not cutting full grown trees, that's illegal. Cutting a few thin bushes or young trees is perfectly fine. Especially if its dead. You are the one who is a city cuck. I bet you have bambi syndrome too.
And I do own a bit of land, forrest even. Though I live in the city.
>>
Bushcraft is fun and many good skills but tents exist and they keep out bugs. I don't build play forts anymore. I take the same folding saw I've had the entire time, it weighs <6oz and can be sharpened.

I don’t think $60 for a saw that will last years is too much to ask. Are there cheaper saws? Sure. But $40-$60 for a saw that may last 3, 5, 10, 15 years doesn’t seem like too bad of an investment. Buy once, cry once

So will the silky though, and it’s a better saw (better meaning it will cut faster with less effort)
>>
Define shelter, some larp bushcraft lean to I bring a folding saw and some bankline, a proper cabin I bring my 044 an axe a staple gun and somp plastic painters tarp and a brace drill with a 2 inch auger bit, once I get the rough shape built I return home for more tools to finish it proper. I love folding saws to fuck around with but they aren't half the tool an axe is, and anyone who wants to carry a carpenter's saw has never used one that has been bent (like it would be if you tried to carry it flat in your pack)
