git 'r done
>>1809896Just got home, eventful day. I call this one "largemouth's revenge"
>>1809896First for reel type doesn't matter.
>>1809901Got my gf in the head too, iktf bro.
>>1809901>>1809904>>1807970why are there so many dumbfucks here?
>>1809901Then after unfucking myself, the very next cast I caught another bass, not very big felt like a bit more than 2lbs, he thrashed while I was attempting to remove the whopper plopper and I just let go so I wouldn't get hooked in the fingers. When his weight hit the rod, the tip broke off my med-heavy ugly stik. Joyous.
Im torn between getting a DAM Shadow tele mini spin vs a Daiwa BBB. With shipping the DAM rod is 147$(almost 100dollar shipping fee). Daiwa costs near 200$What should i do my dudes?
>>1809916What are the performance differences between the two?
>>1809896Does anyone fish here or just everyone just buys fishing gear..?
>>1809927For Daiwa Im looking at 2 different models, a 6'10 medium light with line weight 2-14g and a 6'6 medium power with line weight 6-18g.The DAM mini spin is 7'8 medium power rated line weight is 7-20g.This will be my first upgrade from a walmart rod, I mostly panfish and freshwater fishing. I would like to have a well rounded travel rod, will anyone shed some light on the pros and cons? Will telescopic rod break easily if I hook something big?
>>1809963My best friends PB LMB is a mondo 13lbr. He caught by accident on a pistol grip kids pole throwing a fucking white craw. With 10lb mono...Anyone who breaks telescopic rods are just mis handling them.. I have one myself that I use quiet often..the reels garbage. But not enough for me to care about changing it.Downside is they're not as sensitive to feel, and a bit heavy.
>>1809784onee-san did you catch anything?
>>1809901Stupid nigger you're not following me that Trimble hook isn't even that deep the second barb is still exposed outside. https://youtu.be/YIpaeP8frgg
is a finesse rod the ultimate way to go for skill dependent fishing?
>>1809963Telescopic rods are really sturdy, so dont worry about it breaking.
Has anyone ever used this website before?https://uk.asian-portal.shop/category/select/cid/349/bid/48/pid/49734I'm not sure how legit it is but the prices look good
Too much? Too little?
What are my chances of catching trout in a pond that was stocked in late March? Close to none or should I still give it a shot, in MA as well so warm weather may play a factor
>>1810109Looks just right to me, maybe a tad too much if I’m being picky.
Do I need to use a tapered leader for dry flies? Can I just tie some 10 lbs line to some 4lbs line to make a 2 part leader?
>>1810134they tend to land a bit better but there's nothing wrong with what you wanna do
Anyone have experience with bow fishing? Whats a good cheap beginner rig I can get to shoot some carp fatties?
i can't tie knotshow do i connect line to a spooldon't bother sending arbor knot shit cause i can't do it
>>1810173Tie double over hand knot Then another one on top of that
so when i cast out my casting rod it gets stuck at the same distances every time, it has never happened before, i untangled the wire and tried again. still same problemwtf
>>1810183You might be out of line.
>>1809896Anyone got tips on not snagging through heavy weeds? I got one of them fish hooks with the spring wire on it and it helped me snag much less but seemed to make the fish less interested in the bait and when I did get a bite id Pull the hook right out of the hooks mouth or if let the fish run with it and end up hooking them in the guts. Anyone know what I’m doin wrong?
A small bluegill that somehow managed to end up in my small 250gal garden pond hasn't shown himself to me since he first went in, although my family says they see him sometimes and the slugs from my garden that I toss in seem to disappear. Should i try catching him and have a small lmb replace him instead?
>>1810134You don’t have to use a tapered leader but your presentation will likely be dogshit without one. Fly fishing leaders are very stiff in the butt to very flexible in the terminal end in addition to being tapered. The combination of the two causes the leader to lay out flat on the water at the end of your cast with the fly at the end exactly where you're trying to place it. If you don’t want to pay for the manufactured leaders you can buy the materials to knot about 100 of your own for the same amount you would spend on six or eight store bought ones. In a pinch though you could just tie mono to the end but it would really be a temporary solution.
Hey all, just moved to the west coast and never really done any saltwater fishing, any tips? I'm guessing my bass rods won't cut it?
>>1810173Arbor knot is one of the easiest. Do you have a disability or are you too lazy to practice?
>>1810205no the fuck it isn'tthe tag end doesn't slide down properly
>>1810200If you can't tie a fucking arbor knot you probably won't have the mental capacity to go fishing. Maybe when your worthless self dies your fishing rod and reel will be taken by your vastly more successful and intelligent brothers or sisters to give to their kid, and the 10 year old will learn the arbor knot in 2 seconds
>>1810209kill yourself nigger
>>1810196No, more panfish + crappie
>>1810134You can but smaller dries and larger wind resistant dries wont cast well, especially if its windy. I do 4 part leaders if im fishing for pan fish because its low stakes but for trout I do 7 to 10 part leaders for dries depending on situation.Best guide for trout leaders imo https://www.fishswami.com/blog/20/hand-tying-fly-leaders
>>1810215250 gal only big enough for one fish
>>1810208What do you mean just put the line through the loops and it works
>>1810109You'll be fine. Just tie on a fluorocarbon leader. >>1810173If you can't tie knots and don't bother to learn then you should give up fishing. I sucked at tying knots but I practiced over and over again till I mastered a few knots. Now its like second nature to me. If you're not willing to put in the work, then you won't go anywhere.
>>1810173simple tight over handed knot with a piece of tape chances are their is no way in hell you're gonna run all your line out.I been fishing since I was a kid caught many big fish in my time never had I had to worry about reaching the end of my spool line thats more likely to happen if you're out deep sea fishing.
Kayak fishing soon fellow faggots.
>>1810287Which kayak you getting? Been interested for a while but can’t pull the trigger because of cost
>>1809909Though you meant the eye cap slid off the rod, but the whole fucking thing is broke. I thought the ugly stik's biggest selling point was that they're retarded hard to break?
>>1810294BIC SportYak 245. Also had my eye on the Pelican CATCH Pwr 100.
>>1810300Really digging the Catch 100 thanks man this might be the one
Where do I shop rods online? Googling gives me big box stores with retarded search and filter options
>>1810188but the line is as long as before?
What's a good general purpose rod, if there is such a thing.
>>1810395Theres really not. I guess a 7' medium comes close, even if not ideal it should be able to "make it work" for most freshwater applications
>>1810395Spinning: 1/8 - 1/2 Oz medium 7’ Casting: 1/4 - 1 Oz medium heavy 7’Only two rods you need for freshwater. Throw in an ultralight and it’ll be perfect.
> tfw couldn’t get on top of the yellowtail school on the kayak that was just dozen of feet away and the guy who manage to get on top of it got 2 30lb+ Feel bad man. I was so close but i couldn’t get the school to show up on my ff to follow it.
>>1810294I got myself an ascend h12 that basspro had a half off sale on a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully I'll have a cooler full of speckled trout and redfish by Friday.
hiked in to this tiny creek innawoods but the water level is way too low. i was getting nibbles on the 1/24oz spinner from these shiny little fish but the water was too murky to see what they were
>>1810478I mean 30+ inches not lb. they were good size though
do u guys like my perch
>go fishing at bridge>come back to find abandoned vehicle sticker on truckevery fucking time
>>1809909Every problem has a blessing. Now you can finally get a big boy rod.
>>1810553I was thinking the same thing, but I'm not sure what to get to replace it. I know I want another med-heavy because muh top water muh punching, but a (good) MH spinning rod seems hard to find right now. If I change over to a memecaster, I'll have this extra spinning reel spooled up with 20lb braid laying around I'll feel compelled to find a use for.
>>1810119Are you talking about the Wachusett Reservoir? Either way you need to fish from the bottom for any chance of catching trout. It's difficult this time of year. You'll have a much better time fishing for panfish and bass.
>>1810538Are there any repercussions or do you just take the sticker off and go on?
>>1810534Yup. Cool fish man.
>>18103956'6 medium spinning with 20lb braid and a 3000 reel
>>1809907It happens sometimes dude. One time when I was getting my wife into fishing she made a bad cast and hooked me in the side 3 inches or so below the ribs with a rooster tail. That was fun to get out cause the flesh has some give there but luckily we were able to curve it around and cut the barb.
I bought one of those super cheap Chinese carp poles that don't have a proper handle on them, caught a couple little cats on it and didn't really care for it, so I bought a cheap handle kit and threw it on. What kind of fishing would this best be for? Pan fish? It's like a 10 foot noodle rod. I've got it rigged up with some BB shot and a bobber I'll give it a shot. What do you guys think?
Praise be Kehde
>>1810395>>1810406>>1810472>>1810658I really think a lighter end rod is more fun than anything else in terms of beginners. But it kind of sucks when you have a 3lb bass on an ultralite rod with 4lb line
>>1810689Looks pretty clean bud, I would add a couple more guides and you’re golden
>>1810703Once i foul hooked a fairly large carp on 6lb mono. I spent over an hour trying to tire it out while it peeled drag before someone who had been watching hopped in their kayak and paddled out to it and unhooked it for me. Pretty bad fucking time.
>>1810716That sounds boss. I would be loving that, that feeling of playing a big fish you didn't expect and riding that line of too hard/not hard enough is as exciting as fishing gets.
>>1810716Forgot a detail: this was when I had only recently started fishing and was using a shitty zebco 202 reel that has like 5lb max drag. So it was a long fight indeed.
I hope I get some big minnows in the trap tonight, I'm all rigged up for monster pike
>go to bass pro to handle a Chronarch MGL before buying>open up the sideplate to turn off all the brakes to see how it free spools>boomer white worker: "the fuck are you doing? Don't do that."The fuck is the point having them on display then, nigger?
>>1810743What did you do after ?
>>1810723Why not use giant killers or big spoons? The best part about pike fishing is the ferocious ambush that they use to crush spinners.
how do you even remove lures from the fish without getting hooked? I don't even use those bait lures anymore with the dual/triple treble hooks because the fish freaks the fuck out when it comes time to remove and i've almost hooked myself, but usually the fish just hooks itself with another hook
>>1810748Did it anyway, then decided to buy it. The left handed Chronarch MGL is on sale on Amazon for 15% off from Shimano directly. Bass Pro price matched and gave me an extra 5% for military. $200 for a Chronarch out the door. Still pissed me off he told me that, never been told that.
>>1810502Where is this? Could have been creek chubs that were nibbling on your spinner.
I swear to god the imbecilic questions on this general..
>>1810773Asking dumb questions and doing dumb things are the fastest ways to learn.
>>1810614it has to be moved in 24 hours but the sticker itself is impossible to get off and leaves nasty glue and paper spots all over the glass
>>1810754Very carefully.... And always carry forceps or pliers. Cheap $5 walmart plier multi-tools will work most of the time. Smaller medical looking ones are also great to have
>>1810758My brake knob loosened once and plopped off the boat, so being that dicks is getting rid of a lot of their fishing stuff and refuses to sell "assault weapons" I felt no remorse for going in, unscrewing the brake knob on their display model, and putting it in my pocket. The best thing is I wasn't the only one to do that
can somebody explain the knot autism to me?this is literally all Ive ever used since childhood and Ive never lost a fish on it
Sorry for rambling last thread, guys. Was up at 5 that morning and bring out fishing was really doing it for my sleep deprived self.
>>1810173When you tie an arbor knot, how do you get the second little granny knot in the line to pull tight against the main knot?
>>1810803Tie the first knot tight first, and then the second knot is too wide to go through itezpz
My KastKing rod snapped into 4 pieces, also fuck stingrays.
>>1810173>how do i connect line to a spoolElectric tape if you're fucking lazy.
>>1810797do another loop, its better aka improved clinch knot
Caught one largemouth bass and lost two after work this evening.
>>1810822Caught on a Z-Man Bulletz in 1/10oz and Z-Man TRD Bugz, fished really slowly.
>>1810822>>1810824i learned quite recently that those grubs are the shit
>>1810840Weirdly enough I catch significantly more bass on the smaller sized soft plastics like the Z-Man TRD Bugz than regular sized creature baits like the Strike King Rage Bug or the Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver.
>>1809896youtube.com/watch?v=ScSRqYCaU6w My friend Devin almost had it but game over man I attempted to go into the water to get it unwrapped but the line broke off.
any of you guys ever fished the great lakes and if so where?
>>1810864Lake Ontario on the Canadian side. More specifically in the Greater Toronto Area. Shore fishing lake Ontario sucks big time for most of the year. I wouldn't really recommend it.
>>1810797That knot will fail if used on braid it's known to slip I only use the clinch knot on a leader so....palomar knot Braid>Swivel> Clinch knot Mono leader
>>1810811Buy a real fishing Rod and Reel next time faggot.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQD4_QWkqrM
there's a pond near my house but it has very limited shore access (few open spots due to reeds and the couple of open spots have trees that overhand) and I only ever seen 3" baby bass in there. Is it worth to go there and see if I can pull something out of there? Im assuming there has to be momma and papa bass there.
>>1810941Buy a machete and clear a path.
>>1810887It was my first ultralight rod that I got for trout, I caught 3 sargo on it before the stingray snapped it.What's a real rod and reel?
>>1810951>What's a real rod and reel?
>>1810793Oh I know people do that, but shit this is one of those reels where it's behind the glass case and they see you handle it, so why does it matter if I pop the hatch open, especially when it's attached to reel anyway?
mackerel season yee-haw
Who here /Rapala Gang/?
>>1811042I only have 2. Pike absolutely demolish that jointed wobbler, perch too. Havnt had any luck with the skitter-pop yet but it's fun to throw and work so it's just a matter of time. But man that jointed wobbler is a slayer
>>1811042I have one. Haven't had much luck with it, but I'm probably fishing it wrong/in the wrong spot.
New Shimano Stradic CI4+ is coming soon. So glad I waited! https://www.instagram.com/p/CCGV78sC5NJ/?igshid=1m1rh7xa7yp07
New reels, rods, line, and lures just announced by Daiwa. https://daiwaproductshowcase.com/
This guy got a little confused.
Getting sick of digging up earthworms for bait. What else can I use that's cheap and easy?
>>1811147He a little confused but he got the spirit
>>1811148Nearly anything you'd catch on a worm will eat a dough ball. You can make a lot of dough balls from a $2.50 can of biscuit dough and some honeyhttps://sciencing.com/make-dough-balls-fishing-5186749.html
>>1811148i have a bag of frozen mixed seafood (cod, squid, mussels, shrimp .etc) from 2011 in the freezer i sometimes take some bits out off and it works well
>>1810951Penn Fierce III 4000 20LB braid should handle a lot of the stuff inshore just fine even lakes to some point unless you're dealing with thick lilly pads ect...
>>1811159What the fuck is this article? Was it written by a machine?>>1811148I like to catch the first dink fish on a lure then fillet him and use little strips of that. Works great for perch, and fresh fish skin holds on a hook so much better than worm. I've also had good luck with frozen squid. It's cheap as fuck, I thaw it and cut it into uneven rings, which I cut in half to make a tapered strip, then freeze in smaller bags for using later. Squid lasts forever on a hook too.
>>1811152Then there's this fucking guy
>>1811178Casualty of the treble hook
>>1811148Start a worn farm.I had one in a storage tote, add newspaper, and old veggies, no meat or dairy, keep it moist. They love banana skins.I started it with just a few worms and the eggs that were left in the worm container.
will i damage it if i take my ABU pro max sea fishing?
>>1811194Of course you brainlet. That reel is not meant for saltwater.
Is the curado worth it or can I skimp out and get the SLX?
>>1811207The only SLX worth getting is the JDM SLX DC. The USDM SLX is decent if you’re on a very tight budget but I’d also recommend looking at the Daiwa Tatula 100 or the SV TW. If you can afford it I’d say go for the Curado, it feels and casts way better than the plasticky SLX.
Also, I have some vintage pistol grip bait casting rods that are 5,6. Does anyone still use bait casting rods that short?
>>1811215I use baitcasting rods way shorter than that for BFS fishing in small ponds and streams. My shortest is a 4'11. You'd be surprised at how much those short rods can handle.
What is a good levelwind reel for general saltwater fishing? I really enjoy catching sharks but I find that with my current shit-tier levelwind (Tsunami 4000, literally a $20 reel) I can't cast out the distance that I need, and DESU I doubt the thing would survive being hooked up to a large fish.Been thinking about a Penn Squall 50. Any other recommendations for good levelwinds?
is there a chart for plastic and hardbait color choice depending on water clarity and whether its overcast or sunny out?
>>1811268That information is easily found with a google search.
>>1811287so post it here
>>1811202my dad said it would be ok, so i am gonna do it anyway
Got a loicense to fish in my local river. Its got barbel, big chub, a few trouts, and perch. Kinda been having a hard time tho. Lots of vegetatio so its hard to get to the water. Also the stream is pretty fast and its hard to find calm spots.Any practical tips?
>>1811355weedless hooks or a fly rod
>>1810951I have that reel. I actually really like it... For the price it's a great reel.
Thoughts on the Storm 360gt coastal.Anyone got any experience with them?
>>1811319>>1811287this, I think it could be useful info in the imgur
>>1811395It's literally already in the imgur, but nobody ever fucking reads the sticky
>>1811412>https://imgur.com/a/1Xw3Nwhich one? the swimbait one? surely there's a better, more condensed and easier to read version out there
>>1811042I've had a lot of luck with these fire tiger shad divers. I caught a 2lb channel catfish on it once, I was shocked.Haven't used it for a couple years though, rooster tails and other spoons are my favorite lures for literally everything now
>>1809896Stop objectifying women
>>1811221Daiwa sealine is good, too
>>1811221Long casting with convention reel take practice. It might be easier to paddle your bait out with a kayak, paddleboard, boogie board, or surfboard or something. A good size shark will blow up a cheap level wind though.
>>1810770thorn creek, deep in Illinois
>>1811503Fucking well done mustachesmo
>>1811503What a T O A D
>>1811048they made a modern version called a bx jointed minnow, its a plastic shell and a balsa core so survives pike teeth, I've used them for a while this summer and caught lots of pike... theyre great!
>>1811148us brits love bread and corn
>>1811387I have one! imo they are a good cheap alternative to the incredble fiiish black minnows
As of today my reel lost its drag sound... (silent drag). Is this a problem other than sound? Is it worth ordering a new complete spool assembly?
whats a good reel with a baitclicker?
>>1811543Literally put it back and feel if the drag still works, retard. The clicking shouldn't be an actual part of the resistance mechanism.
>>1811551Almost all conventional has clicker. What price range are you looking for? Lever drag or star drag. Size and application? Levelwind or no levelwind
>>1811551But if you are looking for spinning reel with baitrunner feature then shimano baitrunner or penn liveliner
>>1811560Look here gay. The drag works fine as of now... Is it with spending the money on a new spool assembly? Thanks gay.
>>1811563probably 75 bucks, mainly for fishing cats in moderate size lakes and pondsi'm not familiar with the other stuff you said so i'm assuming its saltwater stuff
>>1809896is coffee good for you?
was catching bluegills today with my tanago setup again, but I thought to myself. I should really be catching the tiny little fry. I cut the nikko sashi bait in half to make it even smaller but they didn't go for it. So I said, fuck it, just use the bare hook. It took a lot of work, including one that shook the hook, but I got this little sucker. Was really fun.
i love fishing
Is it alright to attach a braid line to a non braid using reel with a mono line that is half it's strength?
>>1811633no don't do that
I saw a sea lamprey in the shallows where I usually fish on lake michigan today and I wanted to vomit
>>1811579The click is satisfying. But if it works why buy anything new. Stick a playing card on your stomach so when your reeling it in your fingers will hit the card and make a kind of clicking sound.
>>1810860Man I hate that. Happens to me with trout all the time getting wrapped up in the willow branches and shit.
Went creek fishing today.
>>1811690LooL I find the way you think hilarious.I believe the clicking helps one judge if the drag should be adjusted. But then again >drag? That’s just a dude in woman’s clothes. If it’s less than $15 I’m buying a new one and keeping the old one as backup.
>>1811597I wish I was newfag
Doing the 20 Lake Basin trail in Yosemite soon, going to camp out there for a week and try to catch every trout species up there, including golden trout. Can't fucking wait, boys.
>>1811632Get /out/ of this thread right now, no one here actually fishes
>>1811644What part of the lake?
>>1809901wash your face your nose makes my eyes itch
>>1809896 These fucking spider crabs are the bane of my fishing. A fucking 4 crab snag(one little guy immediately ran away and jumped off pier).
>>1811848Why are you fishing with so much loose line? Why aren't you using a high/low rig and suspending the bait higher than those crabs can reach? They don't swim.
Doesn’t it get old fishing all day? It just seems boring to catch the same fish all day. I propose we find something else to do so the fish can live our loves and not be harassed by us people all day. They just swim and want to live their lives without humans intervening and bothering them.
>>1811948I didn't know fish could post
>>1811948Literally never. I can sit in an anchored boat or on a rock on shore and pull in 2" perch all day and not feel like anything was lacking in the day whatsoever. Especially if I have beer and food good lord
Found a stringer with 3 dead and bloated smallmouth today. All 3 were between 2 and 4lbs. Fuck boomers and fuck tourists
>>1812168Not the heckin smallmoutherinos
>>1810702>>1810834>>1811503Why do fisherman still do this shit? It's the oldest trick in the book and only a retard falls for it.
Reply to this post with *your own* tidbit of fishing advice. Not some shit you heard another person say but rather something you yourself have learned in your time fishing that you can personally attest to. Here's mine: Spinnerbaits work better when it is overcast.
>>1812260There are many species of fish
>>1809916As someone who just got the mini i wouldn't pay $150 for it. $100 for shipping is way too expensive, search for something locally with same specs. It's ok for $50 but paying extra $100 is retarded.
>>1811582Look up catfish and carp channel for his catfish set up video. I never deal with reels at that price range so idk too well.
I found a place with some brook trout, but I have never caught trout before. What should I use with a spinning reel? I was planning on some lighter Rapalas and pic related.
Didnt catch anything, but got to test a new (to me) Go Pro and have a few beers with a buddy
ok, /out/ im going surf fishing on the 12th but im super new to fishing in general. I was thinking of using this rig set up and lure. am I dumb or is this a got rig for surf fishing on California's central coast?1/2
>>1812311and new phone
> go fishing after lunch > catch some pickerel, get bored> tons of perch / Sunfish very close by > take bread from lunch, roll into tiny ball , no weight just hook> expecting panfish > Bass eats the fucking centimeter large piece of bread A piece of bread
it's on lads, time to catch the micros
>>1811194What's standard procedure for targeting carp in fast water?
>>1812324Fuck me I think I snagged one on my spinner. Something felt like a pulsing rock and then took off, saw a splash downstream after. My 4 lb flouro never stood a chance.
Why the fuck does this happen, and how do I avoid it?
lures for mackerel? not gonna throw feathers
>>1812324Didn't mean to quote that, my bad
>>1812396you are gonna have a great time regardless
>>1812401yeah I know, id just really like to catch something I can eat with the kids. proper rigging and bait helps, I think.
>>1812404i dont have knowledge to help you, so i thought i would provide encouragement
New fishing hole to explorer more... >non pressured >no fishermen >no trespassing This place has so much cover so many places are hard to access but there’s tons of dink large mouth and plenty one pound plusEasily 5lb catfish and lots of bluegill. Not sure what the waterway is for but glad to breakaway from the over stuffy waterway I’ve been fishing. There’s a second next to it which may be even better I just don’t know how to fish it with out being caught or high anxiety.
>>1812428Second one over
> Try to go fly fishing at local stream late morning/early afternoon>Every water access point is overrun with swimmers and poachers spinfishing in fly only water>Decide to go "bluelining" for wild trout in the spring creeks it so I'm not having to extract my flies from the back of some retard's neck.>Go up a path next to a creek>Slip and fall down a steep incline with a good 8 foot drop at the end>Sliding down on my stomach, trying to grab whatever I can get a hold of>Fail miserably >land on my left foot just fine>Right foot twists like a fucking scoliosis patient on impact. It's fucking broken. I had to drag my dirt-smeared ass out of that creek and hobble back to my car and call someone to come pick my stupid ass up.
>>1812446>try to go fishing at my local lake>every spot is filled with old hags sitting on their chairs staring at the lakeWhat the fuck is wrong with people
>>1812446I'm sorry anon but I laughed at your pain. If it makes you feel better I've droped my skinny ass 10ft down a bank, bouncing like a plinko chip all the way down.
>>1812308I like gold spinners and spoons. Depending where you are and water temp you may need to troll deep to get to them
>>1812455>be me>fishing at local lake>waist deep in water, 10 yards off shore>casting along side tree in water, 25 yards off shore>multiple boomers walk behind me in the water while im trying to cast>fish keep taking worm, go to put smaller hook on and new worm, takes 3 minutes>boomer and teenaged daughters watch me walk deom the spot i was fish to my gear>boomer immediately goes to the spot i was fishing in the waterfucking boomers
>>1812455>fishing for trout in a deep pool>hamplanet soccer mom, feeder husband and her screeching crotchgoblins waddle onto the bank>hear hamplanet say "I think we'll be fine if we stay over here.">swim right to where I was castingNot only did those motherfuckers high-hole me, their shitty children were throwing rocks in every fucking direction.
>>1812495>walk deom the spot i was fish to my gear
>>1812378cute fish, did you pet it?
>>1810201We live in arkansas and go to the gulf every year with our bass boat. We mostly fish intercostals, but just use heavier line and you'll be fine. Just wash the piss out of it after each time you go out with fresh water.
>>1810689Panfish or crappie for sure.
>>1810201Bass rod is perfect for most west coast shore saltwater fishing unless you are far enough north for stripers. You’ll only need upgrade when you go out on boat/kayak far enough for yellowtail or moreShark/ray fishing also require heavy gear but personally, that shit is boring

bought some of these bad boys today, had so much fun wading
I find that green wedding rings with size 3 blades are most effective for fast waters.
>>1810201Buy a Penn Fierce III 4000 with 20lb pro power braid, use a size 2 or 3 hook for snappers, Sheepshead, sea trout ectIf you want to shark fish go with a Penn Fierce III 8000 with 65lb power pro braid and a 150lb wire leader and a 5/0 circle hook to start out. Sharks love a fish that is oily so a cut piece of a live blue runner or a mullet or a red mouth Grunt I seem to get more sharks with the head of the fish than the body. https://youtu.be/YIpaeP8frgg
Holy fuck I just bought a Pflueger Presidential as ordained by the sticky and wtf am I even looking at the spinner looks like some sort of mind puzzle. Only ever fishing with one of those shitty rods where you hold a button to cast when I was a kid.
>>1812584hold the one with your index finger, flip the bail and cast releasing the line from your index fingerflip the bail manually when the lure hits the water and retrieve
>>1812598thanks just watched a video on it. Just out of curiosity, why this style over the relatively simple spincast style? What are the pros of it? Obviously it's more complicated.
>>1812598btw I think the guy in the video used his thumb, and pros cons to index over that?
Does anyone have experience shore fishing on the west coast of Mexico south of TJ? I go down there frequently (live in AZ) and would like to get set up to fish when I'm there. I have only really fished freshwater in my life except a few charter boats I took from the PNW where they supplied the gear. What rod / reel would I be looking for?
>>1812602meme casters can get a lot more distance then a spinning reel The only shit thing about a meme caster is every time you change out bait you gotta make adjustments to it.I like my Spinning Reel because I can gain a lot of distance on a windy day if I cast with the wind.
>>1812604don't even see how its possible to use your thumb>>1812602just better in general, proper drag system, holds more lineonly real drawbacks are using a lower test line and line twist
Man Go Pros are so shit I've lost a lot of footage because thfucking camera over heats so it turns off so the whole time you think you're recording it recorded for like 1-2 minutes before the camera turned off come back come don't even have anything good recorded, stupid having to keep checking the camera to keep making sure it's still on.Don't use a Go Pro in direct sunlight with a temperature outside of like 90° apparently these cameras can't handle it.Also the stupid case makes the audio sound like shit and low when you wear it on your head.
>>1812640Catch a tarpon and I’ll buy you dinner
>>1812641>>1812640>>1812598update, I just spooled my rod. I only tangled everything once.
>>1812654I have 32 hours next week I'm only off today and Monday also my mom's jeep has a bad starter so I'm have to walk to the pier and walk home from the pier plus I gotta pay for uber rides to work at $11 a ride so start watching my YouTube videos without an ad blocker and show your friends to so I can make some mesos
what would be the ULTIMATE rod and reel (baitcaster) line and lures for pike and perchim talking if you had all the money in the world, what would be the ULTIMATE
>>1812818for sure the reel would either be a daiwa luna or shimano calcutta as for rod im not sure
>>1812260I've noticed it's easier to feel a hit when pier fishing if you let the line hang *just above* the bottom without resting on the bottom.
>>1812818You'd be in custom made-to-order territory from a well known builder for the no compromise no budget limit option
>>1812260if you're not having fun regardless of the fish you catch you're doing it wrong
>>1812260Bass love a slow rolled keitech
>>1812716I think you lost a little weight actually.
Hoping to go fishing soon lads
>>1812990good luck hope you catch something
>>1812841>>1812856okay, what im looking for is basically the fishing equivalent of having a Lamborghini poster on your wall, im decorating my fishing storage
>>1809896Complete newb hereNever fished a day in my life, however it does seem like the exact kind of hobby I would like and I have been meaning to start for at least 2 years now. It seems to be a hobby where even the people who consider themselves beginners are impressively skilled. Can anyone point me in the direction of any resources for beginners? Any guides, youtube channels, tips, literally anything that you would recommend to help me get into it? I would be very grateful
>Just bought a Duo Realis Spinbait 78 Alpha Spybait©®™>Fish it on a M/L spinning rod and 6lb copoly>Make about 20 casts in one direction casts off a floating dock, get nothing but a few pecks from bluegills I have no chance of hooking >Switch directions, on third cast hook what was at least a 12 pound drum, big enough to put up an actual fight>Get it to the dock, get its head out of the water>Shakes its head as soon as I attempted to lip it and pull it out, breaks off, takes the lure with it REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>>1813036read the pastebin, its full of great stuff. Whats your environment like anon? Where do you want to fish and what for? Budget?
>>1813064haha funny joke
>>1813062Is there any reason not to get multicolor over something like dark green? I like what I've seen but I've never used braid before and I was thinking of trying it.
>>1813109the color fades, the first 10m of mine is pretty much white now
>>1813036read the pastebin, expect to spend $80-100 for a rod, reel, line, and some essentials. much less than that and you end up with trash.
i went fishing with my cousin yesterday, all we caught was pic related and no one else had caught anything either.around mid day, i was flipping over rocks and found a helgramite, so i put it on his hook, and told him to put it in he soft water right behind a particular rock. within 30 seconds he hooked pic related. i still had fun.
>>1813172been catching a lot of largemouth around that size lately out of my local lake. it's getting boring, i haven't caught a channel cat, trout, or even a crappie all year
>>1813068I live in the UK in the midlands so probably not the best place for someone who wants to start but some guys I work with used to often talk about fishing in the rivers and canals that are nearby, they're the ones who actually got me interested in it but I've since lost touch with them. So I guess if possible I'd like to fish in those rivers/canals too without having to travel excessively far from home (Like having to drive to the nearest coast when I live bang in the middle of the land). As for why, for recreation, I'd like an activity that takes me out the house for more than just working and from how my ex-coworkers used to talk about it, it's quite relaxing most of the time and gives you a feeling of accomplishment. Budget up to £200 (like $250) to start off with, is that enough?
>>1813180Check out this guy for UK canal fishing. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwhMRs-Yp6Kh8tTfIFgx0ZQ/videos
>>1813178i think the fishing is going to be ass until these janky ass winters stop. which i dont think will be soon.
>>1813180Plenty of opportunities to fly fish if you're further inland in the UK. Wading a peaceful stream while catching trout is one of the most relaxing and enjoyable things to do. Get acquainted with your local fly shops or join your local fly fishing club. There will be people who will help you get started.
Toronto guy here, going to bluffers park to fish tomorrow by bike. How do I transport a fishing rod on a bike? Also, it's sad to read on forums that fish are no longer in an area due to bad water quality :/
>>1813203Toronto guy here as well who predominantly does bike fishing. I put my two piece rod in a rod case/tube, and stick it in my 45L rear pannier. I have to keep an eye on it from time to time and make sure it hasn't fallen out when I ride over bumpy terrain. I've posted pics of my setup before in previous threads. There's still fish at Bluffers Park, depending on the time of year of course. Its a great place for Pike during early spring. But this is Toronto we're talking about here so be prepared to catch nothing more often than something. Also be careful where you fish, the marina there is quite sticky when it comes to people fishing the area and you don't want to run afoul of them.
fuck these niggers
>>1812336Daylights and spinners.Mackerel or lug works well as bait.
>>1813036>>1813180>UK, rivers/canalsI wouldn't take the fly fishing route that other people are talking about here, they are americans with american waters which are nothing like british waters. fly fishing here is expensive and difficult unless you're in scotland or irelandI would say find out which club owns the canals and rivers you are interested in - most of the good clubs will have online websites talking about the venues they own which could include the river/canal you have in mindyou have two options, lure fishing for pike/zander/perch/chub or bait fishing using a feeder or float for carp/tench/bream/roach/chubI am also in the UK and taught myself lure fishing this year in February, have caught about 20 pike, 2 perch. I also tried bait fishing and caught a little bit of everything feel free to ask any questions
>>1809896Why is fresh water fishing so gay and sea fishing so incredibly based?
the more I catch these things the less I understand what the big appeal isthey aren’t pretty to look at and nobody eats them either. they also seem to bite almost anything, it’s not as challenging or fun
>>1813305they fight like a bitch
>>1813211do you know if ash-bridges bay is better?
>>1813305>NOO U CAN'T ENJOY BASS FISHING NO ONE EATS THEM AND THEY'LL BITE A LITERAL DOG TURD THEY'RE A USELESS FISH AND TAKE OVER HABITATS REEEEE>haha largemouth go splash jump splash
>>1813313Only if you want carp. That place stinks of sewage too because the water treatment plant is right there. If you're targeting bass and pike then I can highly recommend Tommy Thompson Park.
>>1813313>>1813324There's also Frenchman's Bay in Pickering and the area around Rouge Beach (where the Rouge river empties into Lake Ontario). If you go to Rouge Beach, don't fish the semi-circle boardwalk that's further in. There's no fishing signs there and MNR is always in the area issuing fines.
