There's a second example that was built from parts and a leftover frame. The builder just had a falling out with Isdera's founder because he made some improvements, so Isdera insists there's just one.
But that company was always a bit off, they also had problems with Daimler because they wouldn't stop putting that badge on their cars for a while

>The factory officially made only one Testarossa Spider and that was for Gianni Agnelli, but five were sold to Brunei. Likewise, no 512 Spiders were made, but six again made it to Brunei.

To be fair, Pagani made ultra-rare, ultra-special, ultra-final version of the Zonda for about 8 years. Top Gear made a joke about this, the "Model Variants" list on Wikipedia is half the article

Why doesn't he just open a museum or a race track? Sure he doesn't need the income but if he really loved cars so much he wouldn't condemn so many of them to a pathetic end. Driving around a track cannot be worse than sitting in a moldy garage

he doesn't love cars, what are you talking about man?
clearly if they're all falling into disrepair like your pic suggests then he doesn't care about cars at all
if anything, he buys cars simply because he has an addiction to buying expensive toys
he nearly bankrupted his entire family with this you know

Most of the cars were acquired through funds officially earmarked for other purposes. You might see some stiff expressions if you come driving in a new Ferrari and a new American prostitute beside you every day but the children’s hospital never seems to be completed.
But then again, you can always establish sharia law when things start to go south.

Brunei is in South Asia, it's a small city-state on the same island as Indonesia, the entire economy revolves around the vast oil reserves there like the Arab micronations of Bahrain and Qatar.
It wasn't the Sultan himself, but rather his brother using the Sultan's funds. The way Brunei ran is that the State's funds are functionally the Sultan's personal bank account, basically a giant Company Town ran by the Sultan and his family. The Sultan's brother was the 'finance minister' of Brunei in the 80s and 90s, which basically meant he had direct and unmoderated access to state funds which he used to invest the national finances in shell companies overseas to then filter into his own pockets, using luxury goods like cars to hide the embezzlement scam. He didn't know or care about these cars at all, he bought nearly all of his 400+ car collection over a period of about three years purely to hide his money from the courts, and the vast majority of them are identical Mercedes S classes that have never been driven once, but just left to sit in unconditioned warehouses where they rotted away. Even the exotics like his custom Lambos and Ferraris were commissioned as vanity projects that he never used and probably never even saw in person.

>Compulsive buying disorder (CBD) is characterized by an obsession with shopping and buying behavior that causes adverse consequences. It "is experienced as a reoccurring, compelling and irresistible–uncontrollable urge, in acquiring goods that lack practical utility and very low cost[1] resulting in excessive, expensive and time-consuming retail activity [that is] typically prompted by negative affectivity" and results in "gross social, personal and/or financial difficulties".[2] Most people with CBD meet the criteria for a personality disorder.
>Unlike normal consumers and hoarders, who derive excitement and focus on the items purchased, compulsive buyers gain excitement and focus on the acquisition process itself and not the item purchased[25]

Chad transmission expert builds his car around a 27 liter aero/tank engine to cruise at 200 mph in the german autobahn while motoring journalist is at loss for words at the idea of a car with 700hp.

https://youtu.be/NBVoO61a3f0?si=ydAq5eK4Y5UfaMIU

Best part is that the car in the picture still exists today, albeit heavily modified, and that his original builder was driving it well into his 80's.
