There is simply no better vehicle on the planet than the LA Dodge Challenger with the world-renowned Pentastar 3.6 and ZF 8HP45 transmission. In downgrading their excellent V8 supercar into an inexpensive fleet special, Chrysler accidentally made a car with perfectly balanced handling and ultra high performance for its market segment. This is a car that has the power, size and mass of three Miatas but it handles like only one. The Pentastar, savior of the entire Chrysler Corporation, is the most powerful Chrysler 6-cylinder ever made and is considered one of the best engines in the world, with over 300 horsepower, a powerband almost as wide as the average Dodge buyer, and a unique, offensive exhaust note that could wake the dead. The ZF8 too is a perfect pair as it is able to extract every last ounce of power from the Jeep Wrangler engine and put it to the ground. The on-power upshift crackle from a 150 millisecond gear change alone puts BMW and VWs with fancy tunes to shame, to say nothing of it's thunderous overrun as you engine brake. It's cheap to own, cheap to run, cheap to insure and it pays every cent back in fun, without being useless when there is work to be done, things to be hauled and places to go like a "normal" sports car does. The only car that is better than this is a faster Challenger with a bigger engine. You cannot prove me wrong.

The rear subframe is a near identical copy of the W211s rear end but Dodge added a provision for an anti roll bar that didn't exist on the Mercedes.so in reality it is 100% Dodge, they just did their usual thing of taking two existing cars and more or less welding them together in the middle. It should be noted the Cherokees, IFS Rams, Dakotas and Durangos sport a similar SLA double wishbone design.
>>26995013I wish that other manufacturers had put out big, boaty coupes as direct competitors. Like I like the idea of the Challenger but Mopar reliability and build quality has been a joke for decades.
>>26999188That is a fact and frankly I would probably never drive another Dodge than the LX cars. They do tend to have poor quality control and strange engineering choices which I think is part of the soul of the cars. However the LXes are significantly higher quality than basically everything other than the Viper, the Brampton plant was dedicated specifically to them and they seem to have much better QC as a result.I had a brand new manny turbo PF Dart a few years back and it was....interesting. wastegate preload not set right from factory, interior plastics not bolted down, weird electronic glitches, ugly hard plastic interior sort of prototyping the Charger and Chally internal refresh, and this was a car made in Michigan, not the later models from Mexico. the Challenger by contrast was made on another planet and despite mine having a hard life it still feels pretty new and nothing out of the ordinary has broken.

It's actually kind of the opposite; they've been selling so well that they've been costing Stellantis money via emissions non-compliance, forcing them to buy credits from Tesla or face fines and regulation. They're stopping production because their high-emissions low-sustainability performance models ironically sell so well that they're costing them money.
>>26998229Get that boat back in the water!
>>26999908I did, challenger outsold mustang the last 2 years. It's discontinuation is purely due to new emissions laws. Are you retarded?
challybros, how are you going to deal with the emission laws in the upcoming years? how many more years you think we have before we're cornered and our cars get seized? I've had mine for 2 years and it already hurts paying the registration fees and gas here in LA;.;
>>27000769huh? cars only have to be compliant with the year they were sold in. this is also why I was interested in the V6, if I ever wanted or needed to make it a hybrid the Ram/Wrangler E-torque electric supercharger just bolts right on and can be enabled in ECU with a tune.>>26999908I see far more Challengers than Mustangs. I also have much higher peak G. I see over 1.05 before the car begins to slide. So something is indeed slow and gay but it's the person who drove that car for C&D.Should also note that most STP V6es come with the 3.08 rear axle, but they dropped it for that year, so that test was conducted basically with a rental spec car just like mine used to be. V6 Challys with the shorter diff are a good .4 seconds faster to 60. >>27004320It makes exactly 305 HP right at the limiter and that number is in fact entirely accurate, there is nothing paper about it.The VQ37HR for example makes "paper horsepower", the Pentastar produces the exact same average torque rating, and in fact makes more torque across the powerband than that engine but does so with 500 rpm less so it is "only" rated for 305 instead of a much more impressive-looking number.Once more wrenchlets and nocars prove they know nothing and the Chally is invincible. >>27005933>As the object is flung more outwards with higher speed in the same circular path, it applies a larger force on the banked surface. Meaning, the banked surface has a larger load to hold back against in order to avoid breaking. The normal force is the name given to the forces that come into existence in order to prevent a surface from breaking under a load. So, with a larger load, the normal force increases.this is saying that with a load the vehicle presses into the pavement and the normal force that governs the tire's traction increases. however this does not, by itself, produce more outward lateral G than a flat curve where the vehicle is travelling at the same speed. that is in fact the entire point of the banked curve.the banked curve allows the car achieve more traction through the normal force and it *can* go faster which *can* produce more g-force on the accelerometer inside the car, provided the car has the power to go that fast to begin with which in this case isn't really going to happen, i'm already cornering at near maximum safe velocity. you are also confusing quite badly the normal road crown of an american mountain pass and an oval superspeedway banking which is a significant difference in angle, road surface, and construction.in short your cope about banked corners is wholly irrelevant to the discussion and the Chally remains undefeated. Next!
>>27006111>>27006141The combination via Newton's 2nd and 1st laws must cause the expected resulting horizontal acceleration with no vertical acceleration. Retards.
>>27006199but that is not accounting for the downward acceleration of gravity actively resisting the outward centripetal force because the car is on a banking. yes, in a place with no other forces (like in space) and at extremely high speed you're mostly correct but we are talking about a road car on road tires going less than 100 mph and our "banking" is a barely 3 degree road crown that, notably goes to zero camber in the outside lane as the road is crowned in a convex curve, it's not a flat surface like a race track.I have been to Daytona Superspeedway and walked up the banking in the trioval to shake the hand of Sabine Schmidt at the 24H a few years back. The banking angle and sustained speed at Daytona's smallest angled turn is greater than anything anyone will ever encounter on a public road. so it's cope to suggest that my peak G is affected by the geometry of the roads I run.

Keep talking trash, haters.First snowfall and all the Camaros and Mustangs are back in the barn where they belong, while the AWD Challys are out there promoting anarchy is traffic laws.
>>27006227so let's see to get a 1723 kg car to resist 9.8 m/s on an indeterminate angle banking and give me an accurate lateral force readout from the acclerometer i'd need to generate over 16892 newtons of lateral acceleration simply to counteract gravity pulling the car into the inside of the corner which basically means i'd have to take a (let's say 1000 foot radius corner) at over 140 mph which is just beyond my tires' speed rating and approaching the aerodynamic limitations of the car.so no retard the north carolina standard road crown is not helping me cheat an electronic accelerometer.

/chally/bros,give me your wise opinions.i bought a 2021 sxt chally, and i've had it for a little over 2 years now. ran about 20k miles ( i don't drive it very often due to work).i really like it, but i was thinking of slapping a supercharger, just because it sounds fun. If I were to do that, I'd spend ~10k plus ~35k from the car itself. I would have spent 45k for a v6 chally. Also, it is a rwd so is it even worth it ?another option is to sell it and get a v8 manual, but I really like the gas savings on my chally :(the very last option is to get a v6 awd and slap a supercharger, but that sounds stupid imo

Kinda sad when your daily knockabout gets more compliments from normies than your classic though. The k&n makes it loud as fuck and I love it, put it on when I changed the lower intake and replaced the oil cooler

(uphill touge with lots of shifting and hard throttle for example). the 180 degree thermostat basically makes it so your "race temp" is the engines normal operating temperature and it otherwise runs around 190 which improves power by lowering iats a bit, too.without a real tune and a dyno run i don't think i'll see more than what the map lookup table and stock ignition timing will adjust for but it does drive worlds better than stock. just the lsd alone turned it from a funny rental clown car that understeers and one wheel peels to a legitimate weapon. the engine mods have significantly improved the drivability and fuel economy. the driveshaft was a panic buy cause my center bearing went out, it was troubling to install but i like i now, really improves the throttle response and takes out the natural slushiness of the stock drivetrain.

>chubby wubbycool car, too bad it's too wide for smol euro roads
>>27022709my genuine reaction is that dodge owners are by and large retarded and don't know how to launch from a rolldude in second vid wastes his time downshifting on launch instead of just being in 3rd or whatever, ford has better momentum from a better launch and frankly probably better aerodynamics at the top endsame with the v6 in the other video. you can hear the distant satanic ass-kazoo of the pentastar quite clear: he's just got it in sport mode cruising in 6th thinking "oh it will just downshift to the right gear" and he presses the pedal down like an ape. zf8 wastes 1000ms going backwards 3 gears. upshifts waaaaaaaaaayy too early, he's clearly using the automatic mode. the gear the trans auto kicks down to is the gear he should be in before they even go, and should be using the manual modes to get at that last 1000 or so rpm the auto shift leaves on the table. terrible driving.i'd say the gearing advantages become pointless if you are a lazy fuck and just let the computer shift for you during something as meaningful as a race.
>>27022815so in summary, I should get a chally wally v6 manny tranny and git guud ?
>>27023311well you can't get a v6 challenger with a manual because the government literally will not allow such an incredibly based vehicle to existbut yes using the zf8's manual mode and not being a fucking dumbass would have helped those drivers.
Speaking of transmissions, one thing I found out recently is that all first-gen auto challys actually came with factory ratchet shifters; if you wanted you could put it in D and use it as an auto but you could also put it in 1st and use it as a 3-speed. Pretty wicked; do modern challys have this? Never driven one or looked at the options sheets.
>>27023432the zf8 in the 2015+ almost exactly mimics this but there is only a single D position, so in drive you merely have to slap the stick left and then you can slap the stick backwards and forwards to change gears individually, or in groups. let's say you are cruising at 55 in 7th, you can tap through gears sequentially if you want, and it accepts double and triple taps both up and down for gearchanges. but if you immediately want to go to the lowest possible gear you push forward and hold and it immediately drops without going through the other gears first.

>>27023591You must be 18 to use this site
>>27023591image from google ya dumb ho
>>27023432A lot of old autotragics had that. Most often it wasn't a proper ratchet shifter, but it just locks your transmission into that gear OR blocks it from shifting above that.Meant for "towing" and going through steep inclines, not recommended for hooning which it is obviously more often used for.
>>27023595>>27023598I'm being ironic teheeBy the way, since this is the most active the thread's gonna be. Is it normal that I hear a loud-ish "crank" when I shift from P to R or R to D or P to D?Sometimes, it's a light noise, which I guess it's normal or maybe it's because it's been stopped for long times?or maybe I'm just being paranoid

The Slapstick had a ratchet mechanism inside it that prevented you from accidentally missing a shift as you slapped it up the selector, unlike a normal auto.
>>27024216I see, that makes perfect sense. That describes very concisely what I usually notice.

>>27025594easy way would be just to take off the driver side resonator while leaving the one on the passenger side. see if you like that sound at all. delete the resonator from the pipe and put it back on the car. pulling the cats and leaving the stock system intact is alright but it rattlesi think mine sounds nice with the cats and a single rezzy off but between 2 and 3000 there is this crazy resonance with the exhaust that rattles the entire car, can't actually tell what component is really causing it but i hazard a guess at the drivers side resonator flange.the proper way to get it done is have a shop replace both the mufflers and resonators, many people hack off the rezzys in the bumper because they are easy to get to and that makes the car farty, the actual mufflers are the two cans that sit in front of the rear axle. thrush turbos, yer favorite flowmaster, take your pick. just if you take the resonators off replace them with something, a cherry bomb at least or else you will suffer the curse of the pharaoh's 1994 honda civic.
>>27025594oh and if you just wanna buy a kit, solo performance all the way. they actually engineered their system for the v6 as opposed to flowmaster, borla and mbrp who just copy what works on the v8 which is exactly why the oem exhaust sounds so shitty to begin with.

>>27028029>A normal company would be announing the 2024 lineup by now, but Dodge is being silent, which is a sign of simply not having anything ready in this industry. This is a sure sign they were not prepared for alll the negativity they got when they showed off the banshee. What did they think would have happen after spending decades building a culture around the slogan, "mopar or no car".
>>27029943I don't get it.
>>27029948He is saying dodge owners are african and like bananas like monkeys
>>27028465>a sure signThe main reason is probably that they are retooling half their factories in 2024 for new models and aren't ready to show the hurricane in the LB challenger or any of their other stuff like the new chrysler cuv, dodge stealth suv, or any of the other stuff coming after 2025.
>>27029981it's the one thing that's stopping me from shooting my load on a new chally. I want to see what is promised for 2024 before I make a decision.
>>27029948Challengers would ship with some small yellow plastic protector over the lip and people liked it so much they would keep them on and maybe even made that an option
>>27030168a banana duct taped to a wall is a memey piece of modern art. this is a double sided joke.
>>27013214>>27013504what aluminum oil cooler did you use?So far, I've found some aluminum ones from amazon, but idk if I should trust those
>>27030578Any cooler is fine it probably comes out of the same factory, but you should make sure to get the official Mopar gasket set and not use the ones that come with it.
>>27030652thanks senpai what about the sensors ? should be replaced, too?
>>27030168After looking it up I actually kinda like it.
>>27031055Nah, but you may consider silicone taping the threads as a precaution, but for the most part I'd say send itthe Pentastar's exhaust flange and gasket looks like a frog
>>27030157>promised for 2024It's going to be for 2025, unfortunately
>>26995649>V6's>Hoods up to show the sewing machines offI'm wheezing. I used to have one of the V6's, they can get walked by a v6 Altima
