Fuck it, everything is too expensive, I'm just going to get a 2009 Honda Fit and I don't give a shit if you guys make fun of me.
>>

>proceed to look for a honda fit, or any other car you assume nobody wants
>it too costs 8k minimum
Ree
>>
>>26668430
Buy a $2k Saturn, retard.
>>
>>26668411
Do it, anon. I love my 2012 Fit. Subcompacts are based.
>>
>>26668411
Fits are actually good cars though. Lightness is a more important variable than amateur drivers realize, especially where fun is concerned. The sensation of careening around in an light and nimble car is something you can't buy with any amount of power. This is the true white pill for /o/tists. You can have fun driving just be light. A 2009 Fit is 2500-2600 lbs and has 117 hp.
>>
>>26668411
they are great, my wife has one (2016).
>fun when manual
>extremely spacious
>cozy dog bed floor with the seats up
>great on gas

the only real downer is the front seats are awful, and I mean AWFUL.
>>
>>26668455
>sounds gay
>numb steering
>vague gearshift
>shit driving position
>spongy brakes
>high COG
>terminal understeer
>no sense of speed
yeah but it's light
>>
>>26668411
If people make fun of you they're dumb, as far as practical cars go the Fit is pretty fun especially if you don't do a lot of highway miles.
>>
>>26668474

>sounds gay
It's an inline four, it sounds cool, there are cooler engines but it still sounds nice.
>numb steering
It's got hydraulic power steering; something even many sports cars of 2023 can't give you.
>vague gearshift
This sounds like something a woman would say. Stop being a faggot. I bet you're going to cry about not having "soft touch materials" in the cabin too, huh?
>shit driving position
It's actually a better driving position; race cars put the driver in an uncomfortable and non-ideal position just to keep the COG of the whole car low. The Fit already has a high COG so you can have a seat with superior visibility and comfort, far more important for a street car.
>spongy brakes
This car doesn't really get going that fast so brakes aren't a big part of the experience.
>high COG
Slower lap times? Yes. Less fun? No.
>terminal understeer
If you are driving your street car to the point of "terminal understeer" then you're an idiot who's crashing.
>no sense of speed
Actually higher sense of speed because it weighs so little. No insulation and mass to dampen the feeling. Lighter always feels faster. A shifter kart feels fast because it's light.

>yeah but it's light
Unironically, yes.

I really liked my Fit when I had it, still miss it. Only things I didn't like were how slow it really was and the front seats, but what do you expect from a subcompact economy car? The 5 speed is very easy to drive and getting a short shifter makes it feel so much better. Don't care if you don't want to modify the car, just get a short shifter at the very least. Mine was a Mugen replica from RevoTechnica, absolutely no complaints and very easy to install
>>
>>26668411
They look practical, but too short for me.
>>
>>26669484
How tall are you? I'm 6ft/182cm and I still had plenty of head room. The car is small overall but the interior room is massive
>>

>>
>>26669491
6'4, not that I've tried to sit in one so kind of guessing. But stooping down to get in sedans is a pain, especially on the rare occasion I throw out my back.
But to each their own, I assume OP has already considered their own requirements.
>>
>>26668411
The second gen fit is beyond based
>>
>>26668455
that gen fit is the biggest piece of shit unsafe vehicle ever. when cars pass you by while at a stoplight it will rock sideways its that fucking flimsy. the interior is dogshit hard plastic everywhere, the seats are worse than gaming chairs, the sound system is so bad you only use it because the lawnmower engine is even worse to listen to. the only saving grace is its good front and quarter visibility.
>>
>>26668508
>>26668455
Any good turbo kits for the Honda Fit? Would love to see this with 300HP.
>>
>>26669594
>>26669469
Also second gen with manual transmission. Yeah, that would be cool.
>>
>>26669594
The only turbo kit I know of is from Zage, uses a TD04 and a turbo manifold that apparently doesn't fit very well. Sprintex used to make a supercharger kit, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Either way I wouldn't recommend building an L15A7, they're fantastic for as an economy engine, but not much else. If you want to make power, just K swap. Hasport sells mounts for a CR-Z, they fit in the Fit the same
>>
>>26669469
Why did you part with it?

I was a gay retard and decided to buy an aftermarket intake with a filter that sat way low next to the transmission (picrel). One day it was absolutely pissing rain and I drove into a maybe 2ft deep puddle and ended up hydrolocking my engine, bending some connecting rods in the process. I didn't have the money, time, or ability to rebuild or swap the engine at the time, nor did I want to deal with a rebuilt/salvage title. I just let my insurance total it out and I got a different car afterwards.

if you dont care about speed then the honda fit is phenomenal, especially with the 5 or 6 speed. there is a dedicated and active forum specifically for them so if you have specific questions about it they have probably been answered ad nauseam and a google search away. the amount of shit i haul in my fit weekly is worth its lack of power. they handle great and should just be treated like go karts. only major repair ive had to do with it since i bought it was to replace the original clutch at 230k miles.
>>
2012 fit owner here
It's a cool car. Even with like 140k miles (got it used at 90k in 2017) doing pretty much nothing on it but oil changes and tire rotation it still runs well. Makes 30.x MPG (that's what the computer thinks anyways), which considering I'm driving in mid-density San Diego traffic is about accurate (iirc 27 city/33 highway and obviously I'm right in the middle).
>>
>>26669980
This
Get a reliable, easy to work on car and keep it running forever.
>Oil changes every 5k with full synthetic
>Check the fluids breaks, coolant steering and transmission
>Air filter and don't forget the cabin filter

>Replace the belts
>Clean the injectors

I've got a 2019 automatic Ford Fiesta and I saw a few Honda Fits on the military base I'm on. Is it worth trading my Fiesta in towards an older model Fit? The interior of my car is so goddamn small and my 6 foot 1 headass touches the ceiling even with the seat all the way down. Fuck my ass car

I used to think like this. It's an admirable thought, but doesn't get you anywhere. In ten years you'll still be driving that '07 Fit with 275k miles and little to no resale value. Everyone else will have cool new cars and trucks and inflation will have eaten away at their debt to the point that they have more equity than you specifically because clown world rewarded them for being irresponsible and living beyond their means.

They're soooo underpowered, but it's a Honda so it will last and it's got pretty good cargo capacity. Just don't try to drive uphill if you're carrying anything heavier than groceries.
>>
>>26670794
That was a very hard thing to say. Why not use a soft touch? Don't you like soft materials, for your soft hands and velvety anus? Hard materials are so ick and uncultured.

It's a shame that Honda & Toyota no longer make econoboxes for working class people in need of cheap but reliable transportation. I looked at used Fits, in 2021, options were slim. I ended up going with a new Mirage instead.

The Fit is faster, handles better, more cargo room and is easier to find parts for.

The Mirage gets better fuel economy, has surprising cargo room (2nd only to the Fit) for its size, and has seats that provide better thigh support.

Yes but the whole time they are paying $600 a month. You have money to put into your IRA or go out to eat or to spend on prostitutes.

Umm I am not a Fit supporter. I HATE the hard touch plastics. The shifter is NOT luxury. The Fit doesn't even have lane-departure warning systems and parallel park-assist! What a pile of SHIT. I'm a car enthusiast, and I just refuse to drive a car without bluetooth Apple Carplay or air-conditioned seats. I'll say it again; there is NO REASON to buy a Honda Fit in a world where Bugatti Chiron exists. It is simply a better vehicle, and that's the end of it.
>>
With the price junk I just decided to buy an old used prius with good maintenance history. Gotta say, it's great. Thing has a touchscreen, smart keyless entry, great sound system, etc.
The only thing is you have to be confident in your masculinity/strength. If you need to hide behind a product to feel cool, well, a prius isn't for you.

These are great but they pretty much doubled in price. Sub 2010 models still push $10k and the only way that sort of premium makes sense is if the thing is in excellent condition with absolutely no history of issues

The 1st or 2nd gen crvs can still easily turn into camper builds and then seats even recline naturally back without the headrest for a full layout. There are still enough of them and even the 3rd gens being sold around that their premium isn't too ridiculous for what you get

>>26671534

Or they're just trying to push people into more expensive models since the volume never really came like it does out in Japan where they're still pushing them.

OP I would suggest getting tints once your conscious starts giving a shit again about others' thoughts. Too many smug 1 passenger tesla drivers or full size suv drivers will get to your head eventually
