their car industry survived on subsidies and foreign investment, the moment imports arrived and made factories in australia, making them cheaper than holdens and fords, it was the moment it died

Low IQ post.
Would you like to try again?

General Motors could barely keep itself alive in its domestic market, so is it really that shocking that they couldn't keep their Australian department alive?

The Barra engine is still better than whatever gay shit the krauts and gooks are making.

Now all you see are 65k SUV's and diesel duel cabs. Holden, Ford, Toyota and Mitsubishi had 30k full size sedans and wagons. The industry was killed deliberately, as per the UN Lima Agreements.
>>
>parent companies just siphon off tax free money
>wasn't even viable when tariffs existed
>90% government fleet sales
it deserved to die a long time ago but market manipulation is a thing.

Too bad because the cars were amazing.

why does a country with 25M inhabitants need a car industry?
>>
>>26666346
The gist is that GM fucked Holden all the time, especially when it came to 08. Ford liked fucking their Aus division as well, but once Holden pulled out, Ford pulled out as did other foreign companies that were building on soil. The competition died and there was no need to build domestically.
Add to that our ridiculous labor laws, offshoring metal production and our problems with import law it was doomed to fail from the start.

Ford pulled out before Holden did

Why does a country with 7 million?

Ford still has more of a presence than GM does in the country. They still maintain engineering and development here. There only goal for the Aus division was to compete with GM and when the writing was on the wall they knew they could pull out. Holden was dead halfway through the VE anyway. So by the time Ford pulled out, it was because they knew Holden was ready to fail. The VF didnt pay off and they were bleeding years before either of them fully closed shop.

>very small continent, no adjacent countries
>instead of interesting and quirky inner country with lots of roads, an endless desert filled with weird animals that all want to kill you
It was doomed to fail

Who the fuck needs a car industry when you have a population to displace with millions of niggers, pajeets and a housing market that imports 50 foreigners for every 1 dwelling built?

Should I get an FG XR6T for my next car? Other options I have considered are M135i/140i, Mk 7 Gold R, A45, and GR Yaris.
