There's also only like 4-5 positions that lock in with a click, and cars have shown what position you're in on the instrument cluster since the 90s
>>
>>26453560
Feedback is important in emergency situations so you shift correctly and don't do something like park when you want to reverse quickly
>>
>>26453682
It has a long throw and a tactile mechanical click for each position, how much more feedback is needed?
>nah bro I totally get more feedback with a mechanically actuated autotragic!
One of the most common complaints of an 8th gen Accord was that it was way too easy to overshoot what position you wanted to be in with it's mechanically actuated automatic

Should I buy one of those dildo shifters?
>>

Interior ergonomics, retard. You don't have a pointless gear selector protruding out of the center console for no reason
They should take it a step farther and move the knob the the dash itself and free up even more center console space

Pringles are potato crisps (condensed) but prindles are boiled, molded, and dried.

Sorry I don't think I answered your question. Prindle level refers to thickness.

Hunting and pecking for buttons doesn't feel as nice as a dial. Only thing that ever felt half decent were the fuck huge toggles on new Lincolns
>>
>>26457267
Uh it's an automatic you press it once to shift into drive, you don't need 'tactile feedback' it's just a switch
>>
>>26457297
Tactile feedback of a stick or dial tells you you're progressing gears so you can count in your head without looking.
>>
>>26457367

you probably shouldn't be driving

>>
>>26458171
I don't drive a car 10 mph like some pussy grandma. I drove fast and I brake hard. I need a shifter that can keep up with my hard driving lifestyle, faggot.
>>
>>26456254
Ergonomic as in I don't have to pull it in an awkward position like the qasqhai which has a putton that you need to press and the shifter was uncomfortable to hold. This is as simple as it goes just a lever that you pull/push
>>
>>26458194
*button
>>
>>26458194
i looked up the 08 qashqai auto shifter, it goes in L line - PRND on the straight, then a semi-auto mode at the bend, at least for a rhd part.
it can't possibly be that bad? this aetup is basically 90% of auto shifter layouts
>>
>>26458235
My current one is exactly the same the setup is fine the stick itself is just not comfortable to use since you have a button you need to press which is set kind of low and the shape of the know is neither a stick nor a ball but something in between. I am not sure how to describe it it's just that switching is not very ergonomic which is a nitpick but it get's on your nerves after awhile. Pretty good gearbox though I sold it last autumn and it hasn't had a single problem which is rare for Nissan
>>
>>26458542
oh right, yeah i can understans after looking at the shape. have only ever driven older toyotas and their shifters were quite ergonomic, save for the ones with the rear-facing overdrive button.
>it hasn't had a single problem which is rare for Nissan
and in a qashqai too no less
>>
>>26458564
Yeah that's what I meant no clue what they were thinking, Peugeot kept it simple even though it looks like a robodildo
>and in a qashqai too no less
Yeah, I have no clue if they just put decent transmissions on the first models even though they used CVTs or I was just extremely lucky
>>
So stupid question, but i'm gonna buy a 88' sentra b12 from a guy tomorrow on the nearest city (50km away) and i can only drive autotragic, what are the odds i'l burn the clutch? I saw a lot of videos and probably will practice on a parking lot for a half an hour or so, but is this a bad or a horrible idea? Shit is a deal for me as the car is only 400 bucks and shit like a nice, billet shortshifter for this car is around 130 bucks (as if i knew what a shortshifter is making for me anyways)
>>
>>
>>26458752
i manual swapped my car just before christmas last year. with a brand spanking new clutch too, it was pretty interesting trying to learn manual. gear changes werent a problem at all, the biggest one was getting going from a stop due to the insanely narrow bite point.
took about three days getting the hang of it before i became much more consistent. also took me a while to learn to fully depress the clutch when i stalled. stalling quickly went from panic to 'lol oops gimme a sec'
i had to relearn the bite point when the clutch finally bedded in. became significantly more forgiving after that.
>>
>>26457996
Doea this only have 3 gears? Autocucks I...

>what are the odds i'l burn the clutch?
Just be careful, don't mash the throttle.

avoid hills you might stop on for trip back and don't stomp throttle and you'll be alright

Thanks anons, i got it yesterday and didn't die, scariest thing was rhis thing needs to be on fifth to reach 62 mph so it can barely keep up with the other cars on the highway, i already ordered a nice mustang style shifter for it and a cloth boot as it has a crappy, dried out plastic one currently, i'll post the before and after when i get it; i also took it to walmart for some groceries and only stalled it 2 times just outside my house and on the parking lot
>>
>>26457267
i like the Lincoln buttons, they are like piano keys.
>>
>>26459539
probobly only 4-5 gears, older automatics seem to thing you needed to use very specific low range gears when towing or something.

modern autos are 8-10 speeds and will do all of the work for you unless you have paddle shifters to override the current gear choice.

Soon-to-be the guy with the cool headliner. I'm waiting until its the right time to go full restomod mode on the Rio. I haven't narrowed down the headliner pattern I want. I'd have to have a matching color on the A/B/C pillars to match.

you wouldn't want a 4 ft tall cane shifter for an electrically shifted transmission, would you?
