I see so many new cars on the road and it pisses me off. I've been driving the same 20 year old shitbox for 18 years of its life. I just wish I could know...

Do people actually have the money to buy this shit, or are they all living paycheck to paycheck by spending $500+ a month for 72+ months on cars they shouldn't own?

If so, how do I become stupid and not care about my credit score and just buy a fucking Jeep right now?

I agree, especially with the belief that anything made in 2020 onward is especially fucked. I believe that because of Covid and all the semi-conductor shortages and everything else supply chain, everything was made with cut corners and bottom-tier parts. Prove me wrong, but I suspect every make and model's model year 2020 - 2024 will be the worst model years.

If you keep your car looking clean, headlights arent all fogged and shit, cars from 10, 20+ years ago are completely respected dude. Shows you can keep your shit together and youre resourceful. Its a plus in the eyes of anyone, even women unironically.
And yes they are all in debt. First of all american culture is centered around debt. Their suburban house, their car, everything they buy is on a credit card and most of them hold balances past their due dates. These people in new cars are, 90% of the time, NOT in a desirable position. There was a recent study showing that the majority of americans are in deep debt from their cars, they cant afford them.
This isnt sour grapes by the way. This is understanding the value of tens of thousands of dollars. There is so much you can do with that to further and improve your life. It's easy to just go "oh 450 a month for a car? sure!" But you're losing over 40 thousand dollars. These are parents putting their kids into the shitty public school system, the money they spent on their new car could have been spent putting their kids into private schooling, it could have been given to them for college, etc. And just anyone else, you could travel and see so many things, get into so many hobbies with top notch gear, invest and start a business or passive income, etc.
Basically just stop caring dude. Save your money.
>>
>>26452760
Did you fall for "college is a scam" meme?
Well, even if you are too dumb for a college degree, you could still make some dough by getting a real estate license. Just be helpful toward the buyers and you'll make money.

I'm hell-bent on buying a jeep that I've started putting $300 from checking in to savings every month.
Trying to build up as much as possible while my dd is still running so I don't have to pay the monthly jew.
>>
>>26452693
the way i see it ~85% of these shiny brand new cars on the road are on lease. and these normie npcs all just go in on the lease. they dont even fathom "buying" a car, to them the cars come from the car factory and the factories are the big lots with all the cars. so you go to one of these car factories, sign some papers, and you get to drive away with a reasonably expensive car that they have to pay like $400-$600 a month for for the next 4 or 6 years of their life. thats just how this shit works. and it doesnt seem that bad either. im honestly considering it, especially if this whole thing is under warranty, like if i blow the engine they replace it for free. because repairing my old car is costing me more per month than a lease on a new car
>>
>>26452782
Because it makes you rich you fucking idiot

>>26452782
I went to community college for 2 years for basically free, then took about $40k of student loans for 2 years finishing undergrad and 1.5 years getting a master's degree, both at the best public school in my state
Now I work about 35 hours a week in an office surrounded by other engineering autists like me
I get paid about $140k a year to do this and I'm only 26
College sure scammed me
>>
>>26452856
> they have to pay like $400-$600 a month for for the next 4 or 6 years of their life
500*12=6k, that's per year
* 4 years, its 24k
* 6 years, its 36k
and you have to give the car back.

>because repairing my old car is costing me more per month than a lease on a new car
the fuck kinda car are you driving that needs 6k/year in maintenance/repairs?
>>
>>26452903

>>

They're not able to afford them. There's a food donation thing in the mall parking lot behind the shop I work at I drive through on test drives periodically. The people waiting for gibs are waiting in brand new cars from challengers to bmws. Also, pretty fucked up of these people to organize the gibs between normal working hours how the poors can dig themselves out of their self made hell is beyond me with that plan.
>>
>>26453085

This, when you own your own shit, you don't feel the effects of recession because you can't be underwater on something you don't owe money on, I think a lot of people who bought marked up cars are gonna have to out a gun in their mouth when the value of their car drops way below what the payoff on their loan is, because that was the car's value the entire time.

No, but dammit there's always a helpful small hat man ready to get you into a vehicle anyways. most people in the US can't afford a $500 emergency. Not to mention most vehicles are built with both software disabled features(that you paid for anyways), invasive tracking as a means for a bit more revenue for the manufacturer, and built to last for one or two lease terms at the most.
Also, pic related.
Only thing I'd buy new at the moment are motorcycles, end even they are getting weird shit happening.

>>26453505
When you convince a bunch of 16-18 year olds that this is the only way to be successful in life and the whole school system reinforces it and your parents encourage it, all your peers, the colleges you look at and lenders are obviously doing it. People wanna pretend that the mindset of gaslighting a 17 year old into a loan is somehow acceptable and they need to be an adult and pay it off is the real scam.

>>
>>26453864
It's really not hard. The biggest thing is mindset. If you consider yourself a broke loser, you will be a broke loser. If you consider yourself a success, and work to create success around you, you will make it. You (yes you) can do it anon.

Pic related is literally the best how to manual for being successful I have ever seen. Read it multiple times and memorize it, especially the chapters on affirmations and systems vs goals. It's full of principles I've followed my whole life condensed into one place.
Read it, contemplate it, and find ways to put it to work in your life and you will be a millionaire someday, I'm not even kidding.

>T. Biochemistry degree stocking shelves a decade after college.
Bruh you have a 4 year in biochem and you aren't working at ANY of the large pharma or biomedical companies and you're just stocking shelves? I thought you were gonna say something like regular ass biology but you have biochem which is significantly more valuable.
>>
>>26453884
It's not really a surprise, there are far more people who have degrees than there are positions in their field. Because high school students are getting tunneled into college, it's not balanced between trade schools and uni. Everyone chased the good degrees and now the market is oversaturated.
>>
>>26453911
Even if you don't get a job at ANY of the big pharma or biomedical companies you can still land in regular chemical or regular medical fields. Many of these jobs are gonna be better than stocking shelves.
>>
>>26453505

This too.
even a fucking lab tech with the university will net you 50k/year, along with he ability to make connections and easy pussy.
>>
>>26453943
Where do you think those people who couldn't make it into big companies went? It's an absolute rat race, schools don't promote trade schools and act like college is the only option. Skilled trade jobs are so in demand but people with degrees aren't working in the field of their respective degree. It a basic supply and demand issue.
>>
>>26453967
What do you mean "didn't make it" they're biochem majors. It's one of those really valuable STEM degrees next to chemistry. Even if you're straight out of college you can still be a Lab Technician and make more than stocking shelves. That could be any Lab Technician either, whether you're at a hospital running assays, or in a chem lab washing glassware, or assisting a principle chemist. If you did environmental you could just be a sample taker/handler assistant whatever. You can work in your town's water department, you can do a lot of different jobs that are a ton better than stocking shelves.
>>
>>26453995
Because there are more people looking for work with those qualifications then there are positions looking for people with those qualifications. There's a reason why only a quarter of college grads go on to work in a field related to their degree. Small pond to many fish.
>>
>>26454014
Idk man. I know the whole "no one wants to work anymore, hiring urgently" is a huge meme and shit but there has to be something remotely better than stocking shelves that might lean into the field.
