Well, planned to day something about fuck responsibilities but I forget half the continent rn is either wet or actually frozen wet, and that's probably why a lotta guys aren't riding.

>>26106395And still not as strong as an average man. Nice
Is a vstrom 650 too much for a beginner? Found one in great condition near me, good price as well. I learned to ride on a 160 honda btw
>>26106398Kawasaki?>>26106303Yeah, even though I'm in socal the mountains get bitterly cold, luckily the season gear works fine for winter here.>>26106281Makes sense. I like SuperSports and all, but after an hour or so it's just murder with those stock super low grips.
>>26106419Power? No, it's mellow because it's quite heavy and has a long wheelbase to keep the front end down. the shock might be the weight and height if you're shorter.
>>26106419Shouldn't be, fren. It's only about 55/60 ish wheel. Just baby the throttle until you get used to how and when it makes power
>>26106421*three season gear>>26106422Also yeah, this, forgot that the vstrom is a bit of a heavy bike. I've never understood that. Adventure bikes are so damn heavy when compared to dual sports. If anything dualsports are far more adventure worthy than "adventure" bikes. Just slap a touring winshield and saddle bags and boom, you have a lightweight, narrow, but comfy adventure bike that can take dirt way better.
>>26106428Adv bikes shine on the highway and flowing country roads. Heavy bikes with wide, thick seats and a big front fairing make for good cruising. Plus their payload is way higher so even you don't use luggage you can comfortably strap more shit to the back without it upsetting the road handling. Let's not forget about fuel range. A Vstrom has at least 5 gallons iirc.
>>26106433Then they're touring focused bikes, but then half the marketing around bikes like the verys, vstrom, bmw r-x-gs are off roading. I mean, I guess they're more capable than street bikes w/ off road tires because of the clearance and stance. It just seems like the marketing plays more at the idea of it being an adventure bike, instead of it actually being the best for said ideal adventures.
i will go deliver today during brazil's game in the cup
>>26106438Yeah a touring bike is best if you're not going off-road obviously but these days you're not giving up much in performance. The main difference is the 17 inch front on a touring bike. It depends on how much corner carving you're doing.
Happy thanksgiving to my fellow Americans
>>26106447Fair. >>26106449Cautious to call that yours with the img hash, but if it is, Damn I hate you. Fucking love the RE 650 line. Wanted an int650 so bad but there were none for sale used in all of Socal, and the only dealer in 150mi is a bmw dealership with a reputation for 20-30% markup. I'll be honest though, what I really want is a classic 350, with the 650 engine. RE's 350 is just so freaking anemic its sad.
>>26106296Don't own red clothing unless you're a trap. Not joking. No reason exists to like the color as it's neither high viz or useful camo, You just learnt as I did long ago. All that took was one red shirt.
>>26106373Pay a hooker or go ghey. Something will sit on your face and how much real difference is there between holes?
>>26106438That's why wise bikers ignore marketing. If you fail in your duty to yourself to exhaustively research such purchases that's an adult choice.
>>26106122Reminder: fuck Europeans. Happy Thanksgiving fellow anglo Americans
>>26106464Lmao, I actually know a couple people I went to school with who got so desperate for... companionship... that they're now "bi" and webcrawl gay hookup apps. You'll just have to believe me that my actually gay friend found them on there, not me.
Forgive me for this possibly retarded post Could i swap out my front 19" wheel for a 16" wheel? (bike currently has 17" rear and 19" front)I have a perfectly good 16" front from a previous bike, id also like to larp as some supermoto chad (on my 125..)
>>26106488Determine if it fits. Spacers etc may be needed but if the brake etc won't match it would be wise to buy another XR 125 stock hub and have it laced to the rim of your choice (must have matching hole count). Visit chopper forums for advanced info on wheel swaps (because they do so many of them) or call a wheel builder like Buchanan's if in US.www.buchananspokes.com/
>>26106488They make super moto conversion kits. Just buy the individual pieces you need from those
>>26106470I know marketing is not what you want to be listening to. Ive only purchased bikes after exhaustive research from third party and owner reviews. A lot of people fall for marketing though, I mean just look at harley. They're a brand who exists on literally nothing but nostalgia and brand image.
>>26106452I haven’t posted in the last few threads but I’m here plenty with my GT. The 650 engine is great, and although they did announce a cruiser with the 650 the classic would be cool with it too.
>>26106438Most people are scared shitless of dirt so yes, dual sports and advs are larp bikes. I took my desert sled off road once and it wasn't fun. Now I just ride my dirt bike when I want to ride dirt
>>26106523Pretty sure I've seen and commented basically the same thing to you before, thinking about it. Yeah the meteor650 was announced. The meteor is alright, its a fine looking bike, but I just can't get over how much I love the nostalgia of the OD green RE Classic.>>26106524Some dual sports are perfectly capable off road. The lighter, lower power ones are a hell of a lot of fun off road with proper tires. On a side note, not sure how i feel about these generic turn signals. They're def better than the oem pumpkins, and the flush mount lights i wasn't a fan of. Got no idea where to go from these though without spending like $100+ on bespoke turn signals.
>>26105116looks like a solid option, this bike arrived like a month ago to my god-forsaken country and its $500 cheaper than a yamaha r3, I'll go check it on their dealership this weekend
>>26106535Cfmoto bikes are alright. Can't get them in california really so I've only had the chance to ride by friends 300nk a couple times in arizona, but it was a perfectly fine bike. Only issue I know of is contaminates in the oil and engine from factory. You need to be super diligent buying new that you change the oil early and often until out of break in.
Is there anything cruisers really excel at? It seems like /dbt/ tends to hate them.
>>26106532Good looking bike. What is it?
>>26106549making an illegal amount of noise in neighborhoods at 3am when drunk boomers come back from the bar on a thursday. On a serious note many are perfectly capable of being comfy bikes. Just know they're really not going to be fast, or turn particularly well, and moving them around at low speed is a pain in the ass. Functionally they are one of the least capable styles, but they brandish the idea of the motorcycle so thoroughly that people just eat them up without a care in the world.>>26106550'15 Yamaha FZ1
>>26106549dbt is mostly americans who who know there is more to bikes than the highway, you can easily enjoy riding on alternate roads for hours on a 20hp cruiser
>>26106535Let us know how it is.
>>26106549>Is there anything cruisers really excel atLooking like a fat old leather daddy who craves attention
>>26106464I wouldn't want to lick hooker pussy. And even if I would buying hookers is pretty much considered worse than murder here. Wouldn't be worth the risk. And lastly it wouldn't be the same as doing it to someone who loves you.
>>26106557There's also the fact that any modern car or truck is much better suited to long highway trips than even the comfiest cruiser and most Americans have one. From that perspective, a bike is to do things that cars can't do, which is why fast bikes or adventure/dualsport bikes are more popular.

>>26106830It's a glitch some of them have. When I bought mine it was piss easy, then after a while it got like this
>>26106936>>26106830Reminds me a lot of the PNF on my ninja 400. Shifting into neutral at anything more than a dead stop is actually impossible, but at a dead stop the PNF means you cant shift into 2nd without going 1 - n - 1 - 2. While the bike is even remotely moving the neutral zone is so insanely small that I have literally never been able to get it into neutral while rolling, even using my hand.
Just realized the food app was giving out a bonus during all of lunch time but my phone didn't notify about it, fuckin kill me

>>26106939>Reminds me a lot of the PNF on my ninja 400whats a PNF?
>>26106955Positive Neutral Finder, it prevents the bike from shifting into 2nd gear while at a stop unless you shift multiple times. It makes shifting into neutral completely brainless at lights
>>26106959interesting, ive never heard of anything like that.
>>26106964from a cursory google search seems only kawi has them, and its mostly on the newer bikes. Its nice to have, and I know on my buddies vulcan s and zx6r the neutral zone is plenty big and easy enough to shift into while riding, but at stops it means they just mash up and its neutral no matter how hard they pull up once. Like I said it makes for brainless neutral shifting at stop lights and the kind, but outside of that its really a very minor convenience.
Anyone find any good black friday sales yet?
>>26106261Gear cuck lmao

I think it would be easier to have it on the center stand
Where's a good place to get riding gear? I need boots, pants, jacket. And I want armored gear. I was going to go to the local Cycle Gear. Are they decently priced? >>26107087Because I'd rather have an RS
>>26107018Maybe you can explain then how you would clutch in with the right hand, while contorting your torso over the tank to get low enough to grab the mid mounted controls on a ninja 400 with your left hand, while still being able to balance.>>26107018its a bike that weighs like 360 pounds or there about. Its incredibly light, one hand on the clutch and clip on is more than enough to move it forward and back on flat ground. Also it doesnt have a center stand. I cant remember if i tried shifting it or not while the rear tire was up on a jack, I can't recall.

>>26107214Hell yeah brother. There ain't a better ds out there>>26107209They grip good on rocks, roots and hard pack but not great on mud or sand. They work fine on pavement but wear out quicker due to the soft compound.
>>26107243I got an older coworker who swears he killed his arthritis ten years ago by going full keto. Give it a shot anon. I would sure miss pasta though.
>>26107304He's not the only one to say that either
>>26107304>>26107314I've done keto, I fast as well. I've also lost about 100 pounds and at pretty healthy 170 now. Don't get me wrong, all of this helps. Both keto and fasting are anti-inflammatory and obviously not being a lardass helps a ton with the pain (which honestly only gets me a few times a month now probably) but at the end of the day the weakness in my leg is just there even when the pain isn't. Seems like it's just there to stay, unfortunately. It's not like I can't ride my bike or anything but it would just be more fun not to worry about it, you know?

>>26107414Does the seating position matter that much when riding with a bad hip?
>>26107419Absolutely. My mom bought an old sportster awhile back and I had to ride it home and I almost fucking died after like 20 minutes. It seems that the typical sport-touring position where you have your feet under your ass and a sight lean forward are the most comfortable, and anything with feet and hands forward is by far the worst (the sportster had drag bars). I assume the difference is just that your muscles share some of the burden that way? In fact, I find something like an r1 to be more comfortable than a typical forward control cruiser.
Love my bike but I really miss my old sportster and want to get a cheap dyna that I can ride for a season or two and sell for roughly the same price. Tell me I'm being a dumbass and don't need another bike PLEASE. Also how many bikes do you own?
>>26107364>it makes me filled with rage and want to cave their heads inYou sure it's the leg thing that pisses you off? I hate them for other reasons? Do you have sex regularly? What bikes are you into?

>>26107505thats not even possiblei think the trouble is all the muscle is concentrated in my legs so i have relatively low upper body strengthhaha dyel
>>26107511Just normal bikes but bought on liquidation sales. Durrr. I really feel for the unwitting that went 40k in the hole just because of FOMO.
>>26107517Put simply I just need to have a lighter bike. Actually riding it isn't really so bad as long as I don't go on too long.
>>26107523I'm really glad there's people that still buy new bikes coz someone has to, but I wonder what bikes would actually cost if people stopped paying retard tier prices/if chinese/Indian/s korean manufacturers started building bikes worth a damn and started a price war.
What's the best month to buy a used motorcycle where I can get away with the biggest lowballs?
Help my gn died and I'm far from homeIt ran fine for like 4kms of highway then I went back to a residential area and it made some pops at the air filter and died. Running the electric start does nothing but the normal starter noise, and if I try to bump start it down a hill it runs weakly then pops and dies when I pull the clutch
>>26107534Check if your battery connections are tight, then check the battery for voltage.
>>26107518Bro you never heard of squeezing the tank? Give it the snu snu
>>26107531january. that's when people are hurting the most for cash after the holidays + its too cold for most to be riding anyway
>>26107534Check the plug maybe?
>>26107538All lights are turning on
>>26107531now, at dealers. Dealers are more willing to cut you a deal on used bikes. If you ask for too much off new bikes they get pissy - even if theyre asking with market adjustments.
>>26107544A deal at a dealer is still going to cost me more than buying private sale any time of the year tho.
>>26107542How toI removed the plug cable and placed it near the plug and it made a little ray as I pressed the starterEither way if the problem is the plug what can I do at 9pm
>>26107546for new-ish bikes? no not really. For older bikes yeah
>>26107539i mean when im not astride itor sometimes when stopping i get a bit wobblymaybe its normal
>>26107549you might have some sort of gay balance problem, are you gay?
>>26107546>>26107548this is for a tracer 9 gt. It's likely $15k+ OTD, but it would have likely been hovering around $19k OTD without those 'discounts'.
>>26107553no i like women and ive even touched some
>>26107554I think you may have glossed over it too quick. Says right there the sale price + the fees. its not a OTD yet. That bike is probably 19k OTD.
>>26107048>motoliberty, addison>635Oh you're all the way the fuck over there. Bout a 0% chance I'll be seeing you. I'm like 50/60 miles the other direction. But, once I get my shit together and am a competent rider, maybe we can meet up and not kill ourselves on the road.>>26107518I'm 5'11" 210lbs 20% bf. 24" quads with a 36" waist. Finding pants that fit sucks. I usually wear gym shorts or work pants though, so it's whatever, but I'm not yet sure how riding pants are going to fit so I'm worried there.
>>26107560No I read that, I was just being hopeful all those fees would only be about 1k. God I hate buying new bikes.
>>26107547Sounds like a carb or timing issue. Were you fucking with either of those?
>>26107565Why buy from a dealer? Bikes for the last 10 years have been really good. You can buy a used bike that'll still be capable of more performance than you're capable of extracting from it for way less. Find a decent seeming seller, agree on price, go to a bike, hand over a cheque and when it cashes, sign the title and get it notarized right there. Easy peazy no fees no slimey dealer sales guy pocketing 3k+
>>26107565Bruh do you not know what tax is?
>>26107567NoI've been using gas with additives tho, maybe it loosened the gunk and it clogged the carb? Either way I think I'll just call the winch
>>26107573Based lolbert. What do you ride rn
>>26107554>>26107572But regardless of reading comprehensionI think that 'discount' up front is interesting. A little bit optimistic even but I tend to be fiercely optimistic even with dealers. Seems like they're trying to open with a discount so less haggling wtih markups and whatnot. A good sign to me.
>>26107577If you've got no tools with you, it's kinda game over regardless, right? Yeah call a tow truck
hol up the how much would a $18,700 new busa go OTD
It's just so god damn beautiful

Weather has been absolute dog shit today so couldn't ride. Just been working on the engine for my dad's truck.>>26107610I don't have a picture of it, but I did take it off to replace the battery.
Is this a good helmet and gloves? It's what was dropped off with the bike and what I've been using.
>>26107626They are fine.
>>26107626Just look at the back of any helmet and if it has FIM or ECE it’s good. Snell is for cars and not good for motorcycles (arguable if they have snell 2020) DOT is trash bare minimum. This will help you avoid needing to ask what’s good in the future
Every bike should have its own music videohttps://youtu.be/IfYkUPr8WW4I'll get my Cagiva one of these days.

>>26106672>Nice examples of old bikes barely exist in beetuslandThere are plenty of them but collectors rarely daily theirs. There is no reason to treat something you ride like a shrine except autism and the emphasis in the US is on riding. Discard and upgrade is logical so it's done (ancient designs easy to rebuild like Harleys excepted of course). >Is it an education problem, or a cultural thing? It's a poverty thing. When you can't afford larger property than a postage stamp and idiotic graduated licensing traps owners on bikes burgers consider disposable (anything under 1000cc or so and many above that) then cherishing what may be your only bike ever makes sense. The vintage motorcycle community in the US is huge but so is the US.

My feet are stinky after a few hours with rain boots (it didn't rain)
>>26107243Arthritis is joint wear and cannot improve (though pain can be managed which is not the same thing) but most can manage it, Light bikes and low CG bikes are less work. My HDs are light and low CG being older so not an issue but someone with a bloated bagger has to wrestle much more than say a 600lb FXR or 500 lb solidmount sporty. Losing weight (fatassery is a deliberate choice) will reduce loads and wear so you can put off a hip replacement which is the end game for serious arthritis. I had my right shoulder done and it was annoying but I took proper care of it and set up a few things like my commercial can opener for easy one-armed use. Keep all your gear if you do this for the next surgery on whatever, this only gets worse with age.If you wrench start outfitting your shop early to spare your discs and joints (and speed your work). I use patient lifts to lift motorcycle engines onto stands and into frames, and recently used one to upgright a bike I laid on its side rather than damage my new shoulder. Plan for the inevitable and you can still get shit done.
>>26108120>>26108120>>26108120>>26108120new bred <3
>>26107431>Also how many bikes do you own?The only issues are insurance and buying consumable so own all ya like. I count twelve but have more in pieces which are basically spare parts or someone else's future project when I croak. Get the cheap (if they still are in your location) Dyna then keep it. Once they're paid off they don't eat anything. It won't beat an index fund but you'll have it before they become even more overpriced and hard to find. If you can manage an FXR that's even better than a Dyna.
>>26107484I have a bad back so I run mid pegs on everything as boards don't really suit taking load off your back going over bumps. It's easy to retrofit mids to any HD using Dyna mid control parts with a little fiddling. If weight is also an issue the original bobber/Class C racing solution of stripping off everything that doesn't functionally earn its keep works nicely to shed weight.Contemplate your femur angle with footboards then with various mid positions to figure out if it will help. Another way to change leg angles is a traditional sprung style police seat (the most functional HD seats ever) rather than putting your butt low atop the frame rails. You can air bag those, use mechanical springs or even Kong dog toys (which happen to look just like commercial urethane springs like Timbrens).

When do you guys replace your brake rotors? My stealership said mine are below spec which has made me paranoid but everything I read online says basically don't replace them until they warp or crack. I only really do street riding so it's not like I'm putting a ton of wear on them.
