>>
>>26106419
Power? No, it's mellow because it's quite heavy and has a long wheelbase to keep the front end down. the shock might be the weight and height if you're shorter.
>>
>>26106419
Shouldn't be, fren. It's only about 55/60 ish wheel. Just baby the throttle until you get used to how and when it makes power

*three season gear

>>26106422
Also yeah, this, forgot that the vstrom is a bit of a heavy bike. I've never understood that. Adventure bikes are so damn heavy when compared to dual sports. If anything dualsports are far more adventure worthy than "adventure" bikes. Just slap a touring winshield and saddle bags and boom, you have a lightweight, narrow, but comfy adventure bike that can take dirt way better.
>>
>>26106428
Adv bikes shine on the highway and flowing country roads. Heavy bikes with wide, thick seats and a big front fairing make for good cruising.
Plus their payload is way higher so even you don't use luggage you can comfortably strap more shit to the back without it upsetting the road handling.
Let's not forget about fuel range. A Vstrom has at least 5 gallons iirc.

Then they're touring focused bikes, but then half the marketing around bikes like the verys, vstrom, bmw r-x-gs are off roading. I mean, I guess they're more capable than street bikes w/ off road tires because of the clearance and stance. It just seems like the marketing plays more at the idea of it being an adventure bike, instead of it actually being the best for said ideal adventures.
>>
i will go deliver today during brazil's game in the cup
>>
>>26106438
Yeah a touring bike is best if you're not going off-road obviously but these days you're not giving up much in performance. The main difference is the 17 inch front on a touring bike.
It depends on how much corner carving you're doing.
>>

Cautious to call that yours with the img hash, but if it is, Damn I hate you. Fucking love the RE 650 line. Wanted an int650 so bad but there were none for sale used in all of Socal, and the only dealer in 150mi is a bmw dealership with a reputation for 20-30% markup. I'll be honest though, what I really want is a classic 350, with the 650 engine. RE's 350 is just so freaking anemic its sad.

Determine if it fits. Spacers etc may be needed but if the brake etc won't match it would be wise to buy another XR 125 stock hub and have it laced to the rim of your choice (must have matching hole count). Visit chopper forums for advanced info on wheel swaps (because they do so many of them) or call a wheel builder like Buchanan's if in US.

I know marketing is not what you want to be listening to. Ive only purchased bikes after exhaustive research from third party and owner reviews. A lot of people fall for marketing though, I mean just look at harley. They're a brand who exists on literally nothing but nostalgia and brand image.
>>
>>26106452
I haven’t posted in the last few threads but I’m here plenty with my GT. The 650 engine is great, and although they did announce a cruiser with the 650 the classic would be cool with it too.

Pretty sure I've seen and commented basically the same thing to you before, thinking about it. Yeah the meteor650 was announced. The meteor is alright, its a fine looking bike, but I just can't get over how much I love the nostalgia of the OD green RE Classic.

>>26106524
Some dual sports are perfectly capable off road. The lighter, lower power ones are a hell of a lot of fun off road with proper tires.

On a side note, not sure how i feel about these generic turn signals. They're def better than the oem pumpkins, and the flush mount lights i wasn't a fan of. Got no idea where to go from these though without spending like $100+ on bespoke turn signals.

Cfmoto bikes are alright. Can't get them in california really so I've only had the chance to ride by friends 300nk a couple times in arizona, but it was a perfectly fine bike. Only issue I know of is contaminates in the oil and engine from factory. You need to be super diligent buying new that you change the oil early and often until out of break in.

making an illegal amount of noise in neighborhoods at 3am when drunk boomers come back from the bar on a thursday.

On a serious note many are perfectly capable of being comfy bikes. Just know they're really not going to be fast, or turn particularly well, and moving them around at low speed is a pain in the ass. Functionally they are one of the least capable styles, but they brandish the idea of the motorcycle so thoroughly that people just eat them up without a care in the world.

>>
>>26106557
There's also the fact that any modern car or truck is much better suited to long highway trips than even the comfiest cruiser and most Americans have one. From that perspective, a bike is to do things that cars can't do, which is why fast bikes or adventure/dualsport bikes are more popular.

Actual fat mindset. Nice examples of old bikes barely exist in beetusland because ol billybob decided to try jumping 8 gators on his Honda z50 in the summer of '69, and now it's at the bottom of a swamp because it's just a toy he consoomed and moved on to the next thing. Reminds me a lot of the PNF on my ninja 400. Shifting into neutral at anything more than a dead stop is actually impossible, but at a dead stop the PNF means you cant shift into 2nd without going 1 - n - 1 - 2. While the bike is even remotely moving the neutral zone is so insanely small that I have literally never been able to get it into neutral while rolling, even using my hand.

>>
>>26106939
>Reminds me a lot of the PNF on my ninja 400

>>
>>26106955
Positive Neutral Finder, it prevents the bike from shifting into 2nd gear while at a stop unless you shift multiple times. It makes shifting into neutral completely brainless at lights
>>
>>26106959
interesting, ive never heard of anything like that.
>>
>>26106964
from a cursory google search seems only kawi has them, and its mostly on the newer bikes. Its nice to have, and I know on my buddies vulcan s and zx6r the neutral zone is plenty big and easy enough to shift into while riding, but at stops it means they just mash up and its neutral no matter how hard they pull up once. Like I said it makes for brainless neutral shifting at stop lights and the kind, but outside of that its really a very minor convenience.

>>26107018
its a bike that weighs like 360 pounds or there about. Its incredibly light, one hand on the clutch and clip on is more than enough to move it forward and back on flat ground. I've done keto, I fast as well. I've also lost about 100 pounds and at pretty healthy 170 now. Don't get me wrong, all of this helps. Both keto and fasting are anti-inflammatory and obviously not being a lardass helps a ton with the pain (which honestly only gets me a few times a month now probably) but at the end of the day the weakness in my leg is just there even when the pain isn't. Seems like it's just there to stay, unfortunately. It's not like I can't ride my bike or anything but it would just be more fun not to worry about it, you know?

>>
>>26107419
Absolutely. My mom bought an old sportster awhile back and I had to ride it home and I almost fucking died after like 20 minutes. It seems that the typical sport-touring position where you have your feet under your ass and a sight lean forward are the most comfortable, and anything with feet and hands forward is by far the worst (the sportster had drag bars). I assume the difference is just that your muscles share some of the burden that way? In fact, I find something like an r1 to be more comfortable than a typical forward control cruiser.

Why buy from a dealer? Bikes for the last 10 years have been really good. You can buy a used bike that'll still be capable of more performance than you're capable of extracting from it for way less. Find a decent seeming seller, agree on price, go to a bike, hand over a cheque and when it cashes, sign the title and get it notarized right there. There are plenty of them but collectors rarely daily theirs. There is no reason to treat something you ride like a shrine except autism and the emphasis in the US is on riding. Discard and upgrade is logical so it's done (ancient designs easy to rebuild like Harleys excepted of course).

>Is it an education problem, or a cultural thing?
It's a poverty thing. When you can't afford larger property than a postage stamp and idiotic graduated licensing traps owners on bikes burgers consider disposable (anything under 1000cc or so and many above that) then cherishing what may be your only bike ever makes sense.

The vintage motorcycle community in the US is huge but so is the US.

Its like being roped into posting regularly on /r9k/. 4chan is poison in that it spreads misery like propaganda.

You did well in trusting your gut

It's very impressive, but if you eat it you're fucked and your bike is fucked. All for what? Bragging rights? Top riders crash on the track all the time, so don't tell me an avg Joe won't. And if you're not pushing it to the edge there's no need to get your knee down.

Arthritis is joint wear and cannot improve (though pain can be managed which is not the same thing) but most can manage it,

Light bikes and low CG bikes are less work. My HDs are light and low CG being older so not an issue but someone with a bloated bagger has to wrestle much more than say a 600lb FXR or 500 lb solidmount sporty.

Losing weight (fatassery is a deliberate choice) will reduce loads and wear so you can put off a hip replacement which is the end game for serious arthritis. I had my right shoulder done and it was annoying but I took proper care of it and set up a few things like my commercial can opener for easy one-armed use. Keep all your gear if you do this for the next surgery on whatever, this only gets worse with age.

If you wrench start outfitting your shop early to spare your discs and joints (and speed your work). I use patient lifts to lift motorcycle engines onto stands and into frames, and recently used one to upgright a bike I laid on its side rather than damage my new shoulder. Plan for the inevitable and you can still get shit done.

>Also how many bikes do you own?

The only issues are insurance and buying consumable so own all ya like. I count twelve but have more in pieces which are basically spare parts or someone else's future project when I croak.

Get the cheap (if they still are in your location) Dyna then keep it. Once they're paid off they don't eat anything. It won't beat an index fund but you'll have it before they become even more overpriced and hard to find. If you can manage an FXR that's even better than a Dyna.

I have a bad back so I run mid pegs on everything as boards don't really suit taking load off your back going over bumps.

It's easy to retrofit mids to any HD using Dyna mid control parts with a little fiddling. If weight is also an issue the original bobber/Class C racing solution of stripping off everything that doesn't functionally earn its keep works nicely to shed weight.

Contemplate your femur angle with footboards then with various mid positions to figure out if it will help. Another way to change leg angles is a traditional sprung style police seat (the most functional HD seats ever) rather than putting your butt low atop the frame rails. You can air bag those, use mechanical springs or even Kong dog toys (which happen to look just like commercial urethane springs like Timbrens).

When do you guys replace your brake rotors? My stealership said mine are below spec which has made me paranoid but everything I read online says basically don't replace them until they warp or crack. I only really do street riding so it's not like I'm putting a ton of wear on them.
