>BMW E90>AutoZone reads my codes and tells me it's just a service light for my automated oil change tracker thingamabober>k>trying to turn off service light after changing the oil>go into the service menu >reset everything>ALL of the fucking lights are on nowPlease help me
Black tape over the light is the correct way of dealing with shitbox warning lights.
>>25767105>BMWgot some bad news for u jack
>>25767137It was literally the best car I could get for the money. Besides, nothing's wrong with it. I just need maintain it properly and it'll be fine.
>>25767105get a k+dcan cable and go find a cracked copy of inpa, you don't even have to go through the aliexpress hassle i did since you don't need a "smart" cable but when i got my vcds clone it completely changed my opinion on my shitbox audispeaking the same language as the computer modules in these cars is absolutely invaluable and you'll wonder how you ever got by without it

>>25767105>buys a BMW>"autozone tells me">my fellow car people
>>25767105You should at least find a local German shop to take it to so the codes can potentially be read, and yes you will need cash and 15% tip
>>25767284bro are you even reading what youre saying
>>25767447name a cheaper rear wheel drive car
>>25767105Yeah, not a service light
>>25767459Post skin color

>>25767105>>ALL of the fucking lights are on now >Please help me>>25767284>Besides, nothing's wrong with it. I just need maintain it properly and it'll be fine.
>>25767105I'd take it to the dealer or a german car shop to at least try to reset it.
>>25767972>That will be $80, faggot HAHAHAHAHA
>>25768051xd, I knew that was coming, now that I think of it, maybe first check beamer forums to see if it's a common problem & something I can diy, if nothing comes up, then take it to dealer to at least diagnose/reset, before it becomes something serious & before other things start failing & before you know it, you have a laundry list of things you have to fix, like a lot of BMWs.
>>25768251Trying to diagnose BMWs without access to module error codes will just lead you down into a rabbit hole of being dependent on the stealership for everything, which will get you fucking bled dry. Get a K+DCAN cable and set up the BMW Standard Tools package and ISTA Rheingold on a beater laptop, that allows you to diagnose, fix and tweak damn near anything on your car for the insane entry fee of $30 for the cable.
>>25768297if this isn't a big hassle to setup & use, sounds like a good idea anon
>>25767105>AutoZone reads my codesYeah you're not going to find out shit without the proper scan tools.
>>25767105>AutoZonethat's your problem right there.
>>25768251BMWs are expensive to maintain cause the owners are dumb fucking retards who got tricked into thinking everything is too complicated and they need to go to a special wizard with a computer to diagnose a simple issue. Please dont be that tard anon.
>>25767433
>>25767291do what this anon said
>>25768455It's somewhat annoying to figure out (INPA is simple to set up but infamously annoying to use, ISTA is more fiddly to set up but more "user friendly"), but there's plenty of very good tutorials for it which make the setup much less painful. Reserve a day off and a few installation beers, it's VERY much worth it and will save you thousands upon thousands of bucks when dealing with E series BMWs.
>>25769359Have they managed to get INPA to run reliably on regular computers now? Back in the day it was a massive bitch, you had to build a PC with a really specific hardware config or it wouldn't work. The shop I worked at had one of those custom builds but it was still an unreliable piece of shit and we ended up just getting an Autologic instead.
>>25769372I had no issues getting it to work on my 2002 E46, the E46fanatics forum had a retard simple installation for it. From what I looked up, as long as your car communicates through the OBDII port instead of the Pac-Man esque round port under the hood, it should just work out of the box as long as you have the right COM port and your daten files are in order.
