>see a cool car>it uses an engine from another manufacturerIf it was really a good car manufacturer they would make their own engine. What are your car turn offs?
>The words "infotainment system" >any car made after about 1998
>>25614076Why waste money on r&d when you can buy the done deal and use your money to improve everything else on your car?
Hybrids used to be cool.Body designed by pininfarina or other coachworks. Then a v8's engine under the hood.
>>25614106It's the heart of the car and the manufacturer that builds it knows how it functions the best and can build a car around it. Sure you can use it from another manufacturer but I doubt you understand it as well as the manufacturer itself
Anything over 2000 lbs

>>25614117>and the manufacturer that builds it knows how it functions the bestThen why do OEMs make continuous changes to cars year over year

>less than 8 cylinders >unibody >irs>fwd
>>25614076>not realizing that car companies don’t make most of the parts on their vehicles and more assemblers than top to bottom manufacturers. From interiors to transmissions to headlights to wiring looks to screens. Then you’ve got subcontracor assemblers like Magna Steyr. They make the TT for audi, the Supra for Toyota, and a bunch of other vehicles for other car companies.

>See thread>the op is a faggotWhat kind of weird rule is that? Car companies have been collaborating on engine development forever.
>>25614433more like based taste
Cars that already have a super slanted rear glass and tiny rear deck and would've made tons of sense as liftbacks, but have retarded tiny regular trunk openings anyway.>inb4 but muh rigidity muh handlingNo one's stopping you from installing a strut bar in a liftback. You will however NEVER be able to carry even a moderately large item in a grocery hole.
>>25614076>If it was really a good car manufacturer they would make their own engine.Brainlet take that doesn't understand how companies work.If you are going to use a company's engine, like Toyota engines in a Lotus, you are working as closely with that engine manufacturer as the engine department would work with the chassis department internally. Only kit car build-tier cars wouldn't have immediate phone/e-mail access to the engine engineers. There's also cases where different manufacturers have different specialties. Yamaha seems to be a popular go-to for specialty performance engines, probably because of their motorcycle/high revving experience.
