Name a single flaw
ProTip: You can't
>>
>>25611230
the flaw is that the 991 and 997 are better looking modern 911s
>>
>>25611230
I literally can't, other than the fact it's an ICE which are sadly gonna be obsolete soon

The standard rear bumper with the low numberplate looks like SHEEEEIIT because it accentuates how the 992 rear end is not as sleek as the previous gens. But it's fine on any other variant than the regular Carrera.
>>
>>25611230
>Name a single flaw
The 991 could have had a NA flat 8 but Porsche capitulated to the enviro-jew and backseat-jew.
>>
>>25611257
997.2 looks even better driving behind one in the canyons imo
>>
It's not the 991.2 GT3 Touring
>>
>>25611230
Can't afford it.

>8-speed AT

The fuck do modern cars need that many gears for?
Why not have 12-speed? 16-speed with high/low range? Why not just put a CVT on them?

>>
>>25611399
You can when Porsche has been moving the engine forward with each generation while still being technically rear engine
Oh, and the RSR is straight up mid engine
>>
>>25611405
That’s why you get a Cayman
>>
>>25611657
To be fair, that's more due to aero reasons (allows a bigger diffuser) than dynamic reasons. And otherwise, the only time the engine was moved forward was in the 60's, to extend the wheelbase.
>>
>>25611740
>To be fair, that's more due to aero reasons (allows a bigger diffuser)
Which is still the downside of the layout, if the engine location causes clearance issues with diffusers
>>
>>25611763
Yeah but that’s more a meta issue within the GTE rule book than anything about aero in general. And besides. That oddity in 911 history is already over. The GT3.R that replaces it is back to business as usual
>>
>>25611763
Well initially porsche proposed extending the rear of the car to be able to make the diffuser, but fia said no and accepted the change in layout instead. So you're right, but only if you consider regulations.

But it's not like other layouts don't have their disadvantages too. FR has the least traction and most frontal area, while MR pushes the driver far too forward of the center of rotation and has the most difficult acess for maintenace, among others.

Electric power steering and suspension tuning that make it feel like a generic MR car instead of an RR. The 997 was the last 911 that actually felt like a 911, and people will say.

>>25611296
Drive a 997 at a trackday or on a good twisty road and you won't be so sure it's the wrong place for the engine anymore. Feels like nothing else out there and it's easily the most fun I've had in a modern car.

You can do a lot worse as a daily imo. They're comfortable, well-equipped cars with a decent frunk and back seats to put stuff in, fuel economy isn't horrible, PDK is probably the best DCT out there and makes traffic easy to deal with, and it's not so exotic that you have to be paranoid all the time. I wouldn't want one as an only car but it's a solid commuter if you've got something else as a utility vehicle and family hauler, I've got a richfag friend who has a 992 and a diesel F250 as his only street vehicles (he has several race cars too) and he's been pretty happy with the combo.

I have such a personal thing against 911s. They're just boomer cars who want a soulless machine that can excel at everything, then they'll brag about their paint to sample color and matching stitching and trim levels. Yeah it's great, but it better be at the price. I used to think Clarkson was a retard but as I get older I agree with him, Porsche has been selling the same piece of shit for half a century and charging more and more for it.

Breakdown rate seems doubtful, after all it's a Japanese car assembled in Japan - and such cars tend to be considered quite solid and trouble-free.

And as for performance - of course it matches the handling of a modern 911. Lack of power issues are just an irrelevant detail for a little tuning.

>>
>>25613697
first off, comparing miata to 911 is just stupid. secondly, you need to be blind to not notice that the new miata has a much higher beltline and much more additional metal, especially in the rear. regulations killed beautiful cars, dont deny it
>>
>>25614064
explain why the 911 had to get much bigger and heavier over the years because muh regluashions but miata is still the same size and the same weight as 33 years ago with more power, better safety and better tech (we call this the technological progress). Nobody here is talking about the looks.
>>
>>25614074
Miata is a roadster you dumb fuck, it's not comparable to 911 or 95 percent of other cars. They probably have different regulations and their comstruction is just too basic to gain much weight anywhere (that's why lotuses were also light until recently). Lighter materials were also probably used to offset the nu-miata's larger amount of metal. Also, the nu-miata that does have the same weight as the na is a bare bones car with nearly zero modern technologies. I reckon it doesn't even have abs. Also, the nu-miata does not have the same size and the na you dumb fuck, it has a much longer wheelbase and is much wider. Anyhow, car manufacturers wouldn't make new cars do fat and ugly just for lulz, it's regulations and safety bullshit and the trade-off is reduced visibility inside the car, which consumers obviously don't have demand for

Normalfags would never want such small windows because they greatly reduce visibility and therefore make them scared you dumb fuck. Sportscar buyers would never desire that either because they care about aesthetics and driving experience. What you get from ugly proportions and lots of additional fat is improved crash safety and aerodynamic efficiency which is required to pass increasingly stringent tests you absolute fucking brainlet. Retard, even base 1.5 ND Miata has stereo, ac and power steering, unlike a base NA. And that much 1.5 ND weighs as much as a base 1.6 NA, while making as much power as a 1.8.

Also in my opinion any visual issues with the 996 and 997 Targa aren't Targa greenhouse issues, they're lack of wing issues the Carreras also suffer from. A Targa with a wing looks just a dope as any other 911 with a wing.
