Why are new halfton trucks so crappy right now?

As a truck guy, I can tell you why they are shit.
>shitter engines
>too much electronics
>harder to work on under the hood (planned obsolesce)
>too much safety shit installed which makes the trucks bigger and fatter
>popular configuration is 4-door crew cab with a extremely short and useless bed
>retarded consoomers that buy this shit to go to wal-fart or mcdonnies so it's much of a status symbol now

Gone are the days of smaller yet simple long bed single cab trucks. You can still buy new shorter cab long beds, (i don't know why anyone would) but good luck finding them on dealer lots.

Misspelt "obsolescence". Fuck I'm tired.

Too add to the list...
>they are marketed as lifestyle urban vehicles, only on some occasions where they'll advertise them in a rural farm/ranch setting
>all the """good shit""" is only available on the premium and luxury trims, this attracts the countryboy/girl larpers and yuppies who don't even use their trucks
>>
>>25610166
Because women, they make up like over 60% of new car sales that's what Automotive companies are catering to. Also minorities, sodomites, trannies, just to name a few. cars were cars when straight white Christian men we the ones with the buying power.
>>
>>25610166
A mix of government regulation, profit maximizing and filling the void of luxury barges that gigantic cadillacs and lincolns used to fill.
>>
>>25610215
im buying one for taxes and because i prefer a high and heavy vehicle to fit my newborn little girl
also if im going to crash into someone i want them to die and not the other way around so you know im packing that 5500 pounds f150
>>
Because trucks are now a luxury item, so they're built to be more than just haul shit. in fact, i bet all the F-150 king ranch EcoBoost trucks in my town haven't hauled shit in their lifetime. The manufacturers stopped trying to appeal to actual people who need trucks a LOOOONG time ago.

Enjoy flipping over during every wreck Bubba, you sad excuse of a man didn't even pay attention in Football class. The player with the lower center of gravity always wins the collision.
>>
>>25611688
>The player with the lower center of gravity always wins the collision.
That's incorrect as proven by fatality statistics. Large trucks do much better than smaller cars in multivehicle collisions.
>>
>>25611688
>Enjoy flipping over during every wreck
So be it
>>
Because they went from purpose built utility vehicle to a "luxury" appliance for Trump voters
>>
The Nissan Titan is the best halfton sold right now. Prove me wrong.
>>
>>25611655
Sucks man.
A single cab 4x4 with simple amenities like AC and cruise control is all I need.
Other than a special order they are next to impossible to obtain.
>>
>>25611986
No half tons have a solid from axle and are all shit.
>>
>>25610166
Do truckfags ever stop seething?
>>
>>25612041
"normal" two door cars are going the way of the dodo. All cars are merging into medium to large sized crossovers/SUVs. All I want is a well styled two door 2 + 2 EV that can take skis/bike in the boot with the rear seats folded. Doesn't have to be anything special, give me cruise and AC and I'm pretty satisfied.
>>
>>25610166
Dunno, probably because the majority are sedans with shit gas engines. I prefer extended cab 3/4 ton trucks anyway.
>>
>>25610472
BOOOOOOOO bring back the Escalade why would you want a $79k truck? Does anyone buy the “country boy” LARP? Only place you see these new truggs is the Starbucks drive thru and business parks.
>>
>>25612112
I think this is what the major EV makers are sleeping on.
Give me an EV shit box with AC and cruise. Because im not paying 50g for a car that can’t go 400 miles @ 70+ mph on a single charge. If they can’t do that they aren’t feasible for me.
>>
>>25612115
People view trucks as better investments because there's more innate value as a work vehicle in the used aftermarket.
>>
>>25612127
Also why does almost every single EV have to look like some kids edgy drawing of a futuristic car.
>>
>>25612163
I’d imagine styling will be a big part of why the Lightning will probably outsell all the other EV pickups.
>>
>>25610185
>>25610215
Absolutely true. This has been going on with all pickups and it’s so fucking gay.

Ext. cab w/ long bed is the better setup too. Paired with a gooseneck hitch in the bed, well you can't go wrong with that.

since this is the truck thread, pick one of the following:
>new tacoma, TRD Offroad long bed, $40k
advantages are good resale, rocking lear diff, better ground clearance. weakness is really shit payload (950 sticker)

>new frontier, SV long bed, $39k
advantages are bigger engine, better payload, better seating position. weakness is no locking rear diff, and about 1.5" less ground clearance

>buy a used frontier sv long bed, price varies
advantage is its cheaper, downside is not by much in the crazy used market
>>
>>25612260
Neither. I'd get a Ranger XLT Tremor :^)
>>
>>25612041
Even fleets don't want single cabs because they're terrible. Most dealers will have a poverty trim truck or two on the lot.
>>
Dad got a 21 F150, 6.5 foot bed with the rear half doors in guard green and tan interior. kino
>>
Rip the new Tundras, no more V8s
>>
>>25612432
a new hobby ive discovered is going on youtube and finding eceleb bloggers seething about their $60,000 tundras. sitting on the side of the road with a check engine light on, ranting about how disappointed they are

>>25612260
oh yeah, and one thing i really dislike about the new frontier is that you can't replace the fogs with better aftermarket options

he also tried to offroad a tundra once, pic related was end result

>4-door crew cab with a extremely short and useless bed
I know it's tradition around here to shit on CCSBs but there are plenty of real working situations where they make a lot of sense. I've used 1/2 and 3/4 ton crew cabs as work trucks and the bed length was never an issue because we weren't construction workers hauling lumber or drywall, while the ability to carry four grown men in the same vehicle that was towing our trailer or hauling loads that did fit in the bed was a major asset. I think it's also worth pointing out that you can always drop the tailgate and use ratchet straps to carry shit longer then the bed when you have to, but there's no way to get more passenger space in a single cab truck.

That said, if I were buying myself a half ton I'd get an extended cab, since I don't need the back seat space.

I would buy a 2022 Titan over a 2022 Tundra in a heartbeat, if I had to buy a new halfton. The old Tundra shit all over it, but they aren't making them anymore.

Women are actually the buying majority in almost all markets, including entertainment.
Just remember that when you wonder how anybody likes X or Y. Most men probably don't. The market (and government) don't need men anymore to get approval.

I could care less about the lack of a V8 really. Would have been cool if they gave the new Tundra an I6 Hino diesel engine. I'll stick with my 2005 Tundra.

>>25612559
Single cab whiners are friendless incels anon. Ignore them like everyone does irl
>>
>>25612127
Plenty of EVs for well under 30k with tax credits. Nothing with more than 300 miles of range but not blowing hundreds a month on gas affords you a real nice rental car for when you need it.
>>
>>25612260
Or get the 17-19 frontier pro4X and trade 1ft bed length for crew cab, locking diff, skid plates, upgraded shocks
>>
>>25614527
a 5 foot bed wouldnt work for me, but your suggestion is good if someone can live with that size
>>
>>25615320
In that case a 2019 Frontier SV 4x4 long bed with the Value Truck Package is probably your best value.

The pro4x wheels w/ stock tire size adds 1" lift over the sv package wheels. Might be more economical to buy those than add a lift.

looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
>>
>>25618364
Yeah I bought it for racing, Einstein.
Not because it has to haul 5k lbs over the Sierra monthly.
Do you know how dumb you were going?

The new Tundra has pathetic payload btw
>>
>>25618196
>are more capable
>are more comfortable

They aren’t more durable, IFS is great if you never use your truck for anything but street driving, IFS is fragile compared to a solid front.
F150s tow ratings are impressive but no one ever tows that much weight and it’s borderline unsafe in a half ton. Part of the reason HD trucks tow as well as they do is the sheer weight, it’s much harder to control an extremely heavy trailer with a lightweight vehicle.
>>
>>25620668
>muh durability
You tards make it seem like they'll snap in half if you load up anything more than a lawn tractor in the back
And modern half tons will do fine towing their rated 14k lbs in a pinch, they did pass J2807 towing standards for a reason, but if you're argument is they suck because you can't tow that much on the daily safely then you're looking at the wrong truck for the job
Regardless I'll still trust them over an old clapped out HD truck. Weight isn't everything and won't save you from 2 decades of abuse
>>
>>25620668
>Part of the reason HD trucks tow as well as they do is the sheer weight
But don't you guys complain that new 1/2 tons are too big and heavy even when compared to old 1 tons?
