Are they inflated everywhere? Why is a 20 year old truck still selling for 20k? Why can’t I find a cheap truck with decent miles?
>>
Gas just hit $5a gallon nationwide, give it time. I get the feeling you're a zoomer who hasn't experienced a crash before. Buy an econoshitbox in the meantime to daily while you wait for truck prices to come down.
>>
It's good that they're high. It keeps them out the hands of tradesman/country man larpers who don't even need a truck. Less of these faggots off the road the better. It's at a price where actual tradies and farmers can afford them while the common man who works a shitty low paying office job can't.
>>
Who cares? Fuck trucks. Buy a van.
>>
>>25600144
It just means more rich kids get them. Would u really rather see some brat in one than a tradesman? Even a tradesman larper is better than a spoiled brat
>>
>>25600145
No, fuck vans.
>>
They don't make them like they used to. All there is to it
>>
>>25600143
Well that’s my question. Gas prices are through the roof. Less and less people have a need for pickup trucks. Everything points to there being a low demand, so why are the prices continuing to rise?
>>
>>25600149

Electrician here. It's better to be a rich kids toy, because that would mean less of them on the road. You don't understand how fucking stupid my coworkers are. They can wire up a switchgear and are smart as fuck yet once they step outside of work they are just crass aggressive dudes who will tailgate you. Most people in the trades don't need a truck, I can fit most of my tools in my 370z.
>>
>>25600144
So based, fuck the average truck nigger
>>
>>25600180
Because that's how it works, for a bit. Easy credit is drying up, but not gone yet, the prices on most things yet are still priced on 2020 fuel and shipping costs, and sellers require sometimes lengthy periods to realize they're no longer in a seller's market.

It takes time for broad economic trends to show up on the local level. You should have seen Odessa/Midland when oil prices tanked, every new construction house had a for sale sign in front of it with a luxury 3 row SUV or luxury trim truck in the front yard with a for sale sign on it too.
>>
>>25600180
Low intrest rates and inflation. Don't worry, the bubble won't go on much longer. Wait until people start to get fired and they realize a $500 car payment is retarded
>>
>>25600139
Because after next year every truck will be a hybrid/full EV with a $700/month subscription to start the car + $15/month to use the AC(with added fees for carbon offsets and a $7.99 convenience fee) and the title will stay with the dealer.
This is your last chance to buy an actual car. And even then these will be phased out as quickly as possible either through taxes and rising gas prices or straight up ending registration of pre-Great Reset vehicles.
>>
>>25600261
I'm not really gonna be all that upset at the future unemployed, I imagine they're going to be disproportionately the work from home types who have been laughing about doing 3 hours of work all week.

Trucks are popular because of woman brained guys who like to sit up high because it makes them feel safer, and the large vehicle also serves to bolster their self confidence.

There's no translation needed.
Trucks are so popular because fags obsessed with appearing "alpha" have flocked to them because of their size, turning a work vehicle into a pseudo status symbol. You're one of those fags, and it upsets you to have it pointed out.

>>
>>25600139
It's because people are arming up.

Conservative talk engages in a constant drum beat of, "Liberals are stopping you from oppressing blacks, Hispanics, and gays? THIS MEANS THEY'RE PERSECUTING YOU!"
The conservative base takes this and rolls into: "They're persecuting us? THIS MEANS WE NEED TO KILL THEM ALL TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK!"
And so they're all buying pickup trucks in order to mow down anyone who isn't a "true conservative."

The Republican party's official platform being one of extrajudicial killing towards the supremacy of the dumbest whites is an actual threat to everyone else. When faced with a sea of Trumptards storming capitals and trying to murder people in their pickups, being in a Smart car isn't a very smart idea. You really need a pickup to defend democracy from the Republican horde wielding pickups.

Eventually the software dev labor pool will be saturated. We’re just in an unprecedented explosion in internet business boosted by QE that is causing these insane valuations for minor tech start ups. The fed has basically turned Silicon Valley into a casino. If you can get any kind of traction behind a business then one of the big boys like Google will buy you for $6 gorillion on insane leverage cause it’s chump change and they just need to stifle competition in other areas.
Once there are real interest rates then Amazon, Apple etc have to actually budget for their acquisitions and the capital flooding in contracts by multiple orders of magnitude.

Now only experienced programmers in high COL areas make that much again, without adjusting for inflation. This was not a unique event, wages fall in big steps rather than gradually when the job market gets saturated. This will only get worse as programmer jobs are among the easiest to outsource over seas.

“Learn2code” became a meme only in like 2017. Im a millennial and even in high school in the late 00’s there weren’t classes on coding/algorithms/computer architecture. We had one shitty webdev course where they basically taught HTML and CSS.
There was no code academy. All my boomer teachers thought the internet was a weird fad.
That’s not true for this next generation. Also this push to incorporate women into the industry will massacre wages. Always does. Every single profession that women enter en masse becomes a low wage, low prestige profession within a generation.
Secretary used to be an important job before they started having women do it.
You can look at doctors salaries by specialty and without exception the specialties with the most women earn the least amount of money. Why?
Cause women don’t work for money. Beta bux provides that. Women work for validation and social status. Employers know this and compensate them accordingly with gold stars and fancy titles and half the money a man would demand for the same job.
>>
>>25604268

No, in the early 20th century secretaries were like they are in the presidential cabinet. Your secretary would be like a right hand man who helps run the business. Only once it became womens work did the role get confined to menial tasks(which are the ones women are capable of).
>>
>>25604351
Yes, but this is mostly due to the role of secretary being taken over by the role of the executive(s) in a corporate structure.

They know some dumb fuck out there is really desperate for a truck because of his image or something and will pay a retarded amount of money for it. Also vehicle shortage in general is pushing up used vehicle prices to absolutely disgusting levels and I can't wait for it to crash. With inflation and rapidly climbing gas prices I expect to see truck prices coming down soon, especially the old ones. With everything becoming so expensive it won't make financial sense for most people to spend that kind of money on an old ass truck that gets maybe 13 mpg on a good day. The people who can afford to buy trucks and fuel them aren't buying clapped out 20 year old trucks. I bet a lot of people are going to start selling off their trucks soon especially if they all think they can get top dollar for it which will flood the market.

The only 4x4 vans are custom-made behemoths or Russian unobtanium.
And while I don't think overlanding became popular due to reasonable concerns about glowniggers, everyone in the US, South Africa, and Rooland are always modifying trucks and BoF SUVs to do it, not vans.

I wish I could find a truck with a trashed bed just so I can pitch it and justify a dropside bed. But usually if the bed is toast, there's something wrong with the frame and plenty of other problems with it too.
Otherwise, most pickups getting flatbeds are doing 5th wheel towing, so they tend to be small squares.

damn it's a shame you dont have a functional rail system, or live in the same state as wherever the fuck you go every day
lets design a country exclusively around the car, and chuck an absolute shit-fit whenever someone mentions taxes so the roads just turn to garbage.
Truly the land of the free

Because gas was relatively cheap, suburban and exurban sprawl, and shitty pothole filled roads. Americans drive far and you have to do it over shitty crumbling roads — hence large SUVs and high spec pickups dominate the landscape

>Americans drive far and you have to do it over shitty crumbling roads — hence large SUVs and high spec pickups dominate the landscape
The roads here aren't that bad. Americans--back when gasoline was in the $2 range (or even less) liked big ass SUVs because the soccer moms and office park dadfags who drove them had an illusion of safety, and could toss kids and a bunch of ancillary crap in the back (true also of minivans, but those became unfashionable years ago). As for yuge pickup trucks, a lot of rednecks compensating for their small dicks just love the things.

our cargo rail system is barely operating due to penny pinching Operating Ratio fucks
They took the railroad from a desirable job to complete garbage and are surprised nobody wants to work it and help fix their flaming dumpster fire.

Ive noticed a huge uptick in shitty new hires since the 'rona but its a bit more than that. Every recession leads to personnel cutbacks, who do you think they're going to let go, the guy who has to physically be there to get his job done, or the guy who alters some redundant spreadsheets and replies to several emails a day who got sent home because he's nonessential personnel?

I know every white collar employee likes to pretend they're vital to operations, but I don't know how to tell them that they weren't kidding about the nonessential label. I hope you guys have a backup plan.

dude, they make a fuck ton of money to do NOTHING all day. you think an avg of ~ $30k in undergrad debt bothers them? most of the people fucked by student loans didn't graduate, thus don't qualify for a cozy work from home fake job. that's why you're on here raging all day. praying for their downfall
>>
>>25614911
>avg of ~ $30k in undergrad debt
this is misleading. avg debt means avg for people who took out student loans. upper middle class and rich kids don't take out student loans for their bachelor's degree. the people graduating from 4-yr college with $30k avg debt are poor and middle class only

Yes, yes... I sure am "fuming" over those nimrods that are suffering from college debt who probably has a yearly salary similar to an entry electrician's. While I, a "wagie" make six-figures as an HVAC technician installing or servicing their AC units. I'm fuckin' furious over here!

You definitely don't make 6 figures. Even if you pulled that as an independent contractor you aren't taking home even 2/3rds of that after taxes and insurance.

Am I supposed to tow and float a boat with a van? The only alternative to a truck for that is an SUV but you just struck that one down. Station wagon? A tad too low for the job. The tongue of the trailer will bottom out at the top of the ramp as you try to back down.

have you been to europe? plenty of wide freeways just like in america, especially in places like spain and germany, even france. the difference is within their cities the streets are smaller like you said, but get outside those small areas and it is built similar to america in a lot of ways.

they just have higher overall driving IQ in europe

Those people will be protected, because they are loyal soldiers for the regime. It's the producers (developers, trades) who will be undercut with cheap foreign labor (even more than currently) and laid off.
>>
>>25600139
>Are they inflated everywhere?

They will get higher in price if you get a bank loan to pay for it. The Fed has raised interest rates three times so far. The most recent interest rate hike is 75 basis points and takes place this July. The Fed said they plan on having a fourth rate hike in a few months from now and that will be either 50 or 75 points. Anyways, costs of loans will go up. I expect people who have adjustable rate home loans may have to sell their homes if they can't stand the interest rates.

Chip shortage is causing a shortage in new cars. There are two dealers in my town that have more used cars than new. There is a ford dealer a couple of towns over that has ZERO new cars and only has nine used cars on their lot. It will be five years or more before prices adjust back down.

>>25600143
