Every review I've read about this say the same thing

Which isn't bad, so why not get a corvette at that point? It even weighs the same. Th rx8 isn't heavy but at 3150 pounds, you don't want to mess up the "near perfect" 50/50 distribution because it then loses the only thing that makes it even remotely worthwhile, the handling.
If it's only highway cruising and pulling that you want to do, then go ahead. Keep in mind again that one engine weighs less than 250lbs and the other probably 3.times as much.

Because a lot of places in the world don't have an abundance of cheap Corvettes like North America, but cheap RX8s are still a thing, and LS1/T56s are still attainable for not too many dollars in the rest of the developed world.
It's a thought I've entertained, given the dwindling options in terms of good value RWD platforms. BMW E46 is probably another option.

Done properly, and by properly I mean retains all the factory electronics, gauges, power steering etc. it's going to cost about $10k. In order to even mount the engine you need to spend $3k on a tubular front subframe made for the swap. The stock subframe cannot be modified to mount an ls, all that have tried have failed.

I've heard of people swapping smaller 4-bangers like Honda K or F engines and I think it makes more sense. Sure, you won't be making as much power but it will still be quick and probably a better experience

Don't bother, it's a waste of $6k and nobody sells just a turbo manifold for the renesis. it'll be a ticking time bomb, it's far safer and reliable to supercharge it. Then again for the price you'll pay for 300whp out of a renesis you could just swap to a 13brew with a single turbo.
