posting a large truck
Only truck owning anons allowed in this thread. Post your trucks, frens.
Why do I want one even though I'll only occasionally put it to use.
>>25468494i'm trying hard to buy a new truck but it's just a shit market right now. overpriced tacomas, don't like any half tons, and i couldn't justify an HD behemoth even though that's the best price / performance right now
>>25468486A 3/4 ton is pretty far from large when it comes to things you can drive on a normal license in North America. They look big but they're not much bigger than a half ton. They're at the point now where people are buying them to daily drive even though they don't really tow or haul with it. A lot of people like their size and the way they ride.
>>25468509dont they weigh like 6000+ pounds and are 250+ inches long
I finally got my trugg after 11 months of waiting impatiently
>>25468519A fully loaded F-250 crew cab with the 6.7 diesel and 4x4 is 7500lbs. The 7.3 Godzilla is obviously going to be quite a bit lighter. The longest F-150 is longer than the shortest F-250 so it depends on how you configure them. In the end it's not a drastic difference. It's pretty likely that neither will fit in your garage so you might well go big.
>>254685477.3?
>>25468600if i hit a pedestrian with a vehicle that big that i dont need i would never forgive myself desu
>>25468616You're going to kill them if you hit them in a Shitsubishi Mirage.
>>25468600I’ve never once seen a garage that had a problem with vehicle length, in every case I’ve dealt with it’s the height, older garages cannot support the height of newer vehicles.
>>25468623It's mostly an issue with new home builds. Even with the biggest garage option available fitting a crew cab short box is going to be so tight that you will just park on the driveway 99% of the time. Height is also an issue too.
the f250 is probably the sexiest truck right now. Shame ford somehow continually fucked up the f150 aesthetics.
>>25468669>with new home buildsWhat those shitty 0.5 acre crackerjack boxes for $300k+? My last house built in 1972 fit a stock full-size crew cab no problem length wise, try a small level with 35s and it’s not happening. Current 2018 house fits length and height perfect but it was a custom house with the next closest house 1/4 mile away.

>>25468486Anyone that daily drives a truck larger than a F-150, 1500, etc. is small dicked manlet that likely balded at 28 and gets physically upset driving around in traffic because they are so insecure even a vehicle the size of a tank cannot protect their frail ego
this is my truck. say something nice about it, or dont>>25468494because they're incredibly comfy and fun even if you aren't hauling stuff around. also most chicks (but not all of them) will look at you and think positive things about you as a person, even though that doesn't really make any sense. women are stupid like that>>25469100this is lovely
>>25469139Looks nice. I'm at my wits end and considering a minimal trim f150, extended cab 8ft. bed
Been getting the itch to go bounce around in the hills again.
fuck everyone I'm a single guy and I want a decked out F150 platinum with a V8 and I'll use the bed once a year and never tow anything

a truck
>>25468623My house was built in 1996 and the garage is only 20 feet deep. I have a 2016 GMC 2500 regular cab long bed that fits but no other newer truck will fit, they're all too long.
>>254691331500s are absolute pieces of junk, anyone driving a late model 1500 is a certified retard.

>>25469133I have a f-superduty but I wasnt even looking for them, a family member just knew about one they were giving away because the transmission was fucked up and I ended up with it for free.
>>25469144>considering a minimal trim f150, extended cab 8ft. bedI have the 6.5' bed and minimal trim, it's very comfy. I think you can't go wrong with the F150 no matter what you pick. I'm not really a Ford person (drove mostly Toyota and Honda prior to this truck) but I like the F150 as a vehicle and I'm definitely in love with mine>>25469222yeah I think the suicide doors are really cool and I like how you can either have three seats in the rear or an assload of storage space. My 06>>25469133I usually drive my 4 door long bed dually. I daily it now because I'm tired of getting geared up for cold weather to ride my bike, and the dually gets double the fuel mileage as my x runner. Plus it's automatic which is way less frustrating to drive in traffic.
What new truck should i buy? I want a NA V8 or V6 and good quality, don't need to haul more than 1300lbs at a time and wouldnt tow much

>>25472633>>25472661Most of the forest roads are good for camping. Slate Peak is a nice place, so is Mt St Helens and Raineer. >>25486987The V6 might actually be suited for truck work and the automatic is likely superior. Those are the two main sticking points everyone complains about on the Tacoma>V6 is from the camry and a complete dog for a heavy truck>The automatic hunts hard if you're doing anything other than driving on flat roads. The only thing different is the Tacoma still has a floppy manual transmission available, except there are exactly 3 configurations you can get it in, so good luck finding one on a lot or finding a dealership that'll put an order in on one. There's likely other nitpicks about the Tacoma that aren't just complaints that would be alleviated by getting a half-ton instead.I don't even know very much about the new Frontier. I'm under the assumption that it's basically the same as everything else on the market except it's from a different maker and has different styling, primarily because that's how everyone operates nowadays. Nobody really does anything different. On the other hand, I have no how everyone ignores Tacoma's generational problems and everyone just willingly pays/expects them to hold value. Why were you intending to buy a Tacoma in the first place anyway?
>>25487023>I have no how everyone ignores Tacoma's generational problems and everyone just willingly pays/expects them to hold valueIt's because it has no competition. The other midsizes all have crippling downsides except the Frontier, which costs the same new and doesn't get Toyota resale / reliability hype>Why were you intending to buy a TacomaI want a 6-foot bed for carrying gear in a reliable 4x4 truck. The cargo won't exceed ~700 pounds in the worst case, and I don't like any of the current halfton offerings, so a Taco seemed to make sense. If I ever need a larger truck down the road in a few years, I can flip the Taco and hopefully it holds its value
>>25487115Just buy used dude. Buying a brand new truck just to get rid of it in a few years is retarded. You can find a perfectly functioning and good daily 4x4 truck for less than $10k

With the Tacoma being a smaller truck it can't use the heavy duty loophole that larger trucks use to get a better engine that has the lower end torque. It's similar to how jeeps had to use the 3.8 pile of shit before the 3.6 came around. Maybe the 4cylinder with a turbo will turn out better but it's doubtful.

My old truck
>>25495830My new truck, honestly wish that ram would have came out with the new Dakota but that is probably just a rumor.
>>25495830Very nice>>25495832And a nice new one too. Metallic black on the Offroad looks great. I will probably get Silver
>>25496307Also considering metallic gray but that comes with all the downsides of dark paint
>>25496325This black obviously shows every spec of dirt and I'm sure once I give it some pinstripe bouncing through bushes and trees it will really stand out but that's ok. If I wanted it to hide all that I would have gone white.
>>25468486When will we have PEHV trucks? I want one, not because muh environment buy fot fuel economy and off gridding.
Want to buy this work trugg for muh work stuff. Called the biggest local dealer in my area to put in the order which as of now won't even be placed till September, and he told me they were changing up the look of it to be more like the f-150. Or at least that is the rumor. Not sure how I feel about that. Really I'm still stumped between this and the Cummins (Ram 3500)
>>25498049Get a GMC dude
>>25498081why tho
>>25498110Good engines, looks good
>>25498049new F150 looks the best out of all new truggs anon. grill isn't fuck huge and the lights are kino
>>25498049is true that you can no longer order a 2022 super duty. end of March was the last day and beginning of September will be the start of 2023 orders. anything in regards to what the 2023 will be is pure speculation, Ford has released absolutely no information on it and the few spy shots out there are entirely inconclusive.I have a 2022 super duty and all brand bias aside, the 2022 Cummins is a dinosaur in comparison. the engine is dated and the 6 speed transmission options are a joke in comparison to the 10 speed.
>>25498464you get a dope column shifter tho

>>25498580Found a better one. Slate Peak isn't anything to get excited about. It is the highest road in WA but it's just a forest road that I watched the sunset then slept the night on.
Are the stock tires on the TRD Offroad (Tacoma) junk, or are they just bad for heavy mud / hardcore offroading?
>>25498635They are fine for rock and dry stuff. They quickly slick up in mud, especially clay. I'm waiting for mine to wear out before I replace them.

thinking of getting a f250 or something similar (2500HD or cummins 2500) as a luxury cruiser and maybe haul some shit for my cousin, is it worth it or nah?
Hello

>>25502212Thank u
>>25485815Mine are tiny but this Unimog at work runs 500/70R24
>>25483128I understand that its a toyota but after having seen one in person the exterior styling is worse than the silverado 2500, and as usual the interior is years behind ram/ford/gm
>>25502201Wanna snag one of these in the neat green color anon. They look so good and are pretty solid outside of the tranny
>>25483598gamers
>>25500486
>>25487744I do
>>25502419Don't believe everything you hear about the tranny. They can hold up on the original drivetrain 250k+ miles if they're properly maintained, and that's not even uncommon. As long as you change the fluid at intervals and don't tow up a hill everyday or try "stock pulls" then you'll be fine if you have a clean unit to begin with
>>25502958That being said you'll pay a little extra for a real clean one but it's worth it cause these rigs just don't quit!
>>25502296I kneel. Such a cool truck. What do you do for work anon?
>>25502785Very clean truck anon. Love the headlight whipers.
Large truck doing large truck things.
>>25483128If you need to haul more than that you would realistically attach a trailer that's rated for more anyway. I haul loads of that size at work and I wouldn't dare put that much in my truck's bed, I like her too much to do that to her
>>25503062>bed emptypottery
>>25503455Wat. That's around 200-ish bales in that wagon. Hay days suck dick.
>>25487115Dude by a Sport Trac and call it a day.
Stupid question coming through.I'm a europoor and I don't know how to truck.I have slightly lifted gen 1 crv right now that great i haul shit in and go camping with. I love it but i really want to buy a truck in the not too distant future.I don't really like modern trucks and after reading alot I'm kinda set on a 98 k1500 Chevy Silverado. They are rare where I'm from but they do pop up, usually with the vortex 5.7 V8.That should be alright , right ?Am I stupid for wanting a old ass V8 Truck ?I literally can't tell anymore.
>>25503767if it's a standard and the engine runs at all you're golden
>>25503804and of course check for rust. My old roomate bought a Tahoe from this gen from a dude off Facebook and the frame snapped in the driveway two days after he bought it cash
Anyone else go to the Ford F-100 Grand Nationals in Pidgeon Forge TN last weekend? I went for the first time and it was really cool to see how everyone does their trucks. Obviously, the majority of these dudes have money but it's cool to see and get ideas.
>>25502419Get one while you can. People are starting to realize how good they are. Jewmuro's site has sold two of them for around 10k already and they're only going up.
>>25503767rust has ravaged the gen after these so for a truck these are your best bettransmissions go out on these like clockwork thoughfarm burger here and we've parked plenty of them simply cause it isn't worth keeping them going
I may be getting a truck this coming week. What am I in for? 09 F-150
>>25504051A horrible engine if 5.4 and rotten cab corners.

are pickups worthwhile for outdoorsy stuff like bikes, kayaks, or will an SUV suffice?
>>25504545A big SUV is fine it's a truck anyway
>>25502201Chad suburban owner
>>25505651That's a tahoe dawg
Is Tundra good
>>25505954new grill is hideous. the grill looks much better on the sequoia
Anons, I want to buy a new trugg next year but I am torn. Do I get a full size, a midsize, or a meme car like the bronco? The bronco looks fun and I would consider it if the drivetrain options weren't terrible. Midsize trucks are old though and are hopefully about to get new updates in 2023/24, and full size trucks are huge, but very practical. Budget is about $55k
>>25505954Yes it’s phenomenal, just get the crew max in at least the limited trim, with the upgraded audio package.
>>25506217Unless you have to tow a lot, unironically an F150 Lightning
>>25506217Midsizes are pointless and the Bronco is stupidly overpriced and still on backorder for a year. Most real SUV's are stupidly overpriced as well and not very good. I would go for a 3/4 ton if you plan on keeping it otherwise just get a half ton. >>25506233You aren't getting one for $55k...
>>25506238Pro starts at $40k, and unless you need one right now you can place an order in and wait a yearEven the base model Pro comes with dual motors that make over 500hp, so you get a lot for the money
>>25506243When has a EV ever sold for it's projected cost? It's always at least twice what they say. You aren't getting a new Bronco for $55k and you sure as shit aren't getting a Lightning either.
>>25506246Plenty of Leafs and Bolts sold for their projected costs, not everything is a TeslaHelps that Ford actually plans on making a lot of Pros, instead of just paper launching them. They have the capacity to pull that off since most of the truck is just a regular F150
>>25506250Nobody wanted a fucking Bolt or a Leaf. They don't even have enough capacity for their Escapes with the back cut off why would they have enough or a whole new platform?
>>25506255Did you completely skip over the part where I said it isn't a whole new platform. Literally a converted F150, the best selling passenger vehicle in North America. They have economies of scale on their side at the level where no other manufacturer can compete for a single model
>>25506256Only the test mules were converted. The production version is a completely new platform. Did you miss the part where you can't even get a normal F-150 for the normal price at this point in time?
>>25506267You can if you book them in advance. And Ford straight up said they can make the Lightning so cheap because it's sharing a lot with the regular F150
>>25487115>Toyota reliability hypeIt literally means you can ignore all typical maintenance and ditch the car once problems finally start rearing their head. Every used Tacoma is like this but they still want you to pay the premium for their neglect.>>25506217>Midsize trucks are old thoughFrontier finally got an update a year or two ago. Otherwise all the domestics are waiting to get around to copying their trucks from abroad and Toyota is being lazy. No idea if the new Dakota is ever actually happening, Stellantis probably having confusion over whether to make it a Maverick abomination or do a pointless electric "revival">>25506233>Backordered to 2026>>25506250>>25506256You're crazy. The battery requirements for a pickup are massive compared to those little beans and Ford doesn't have the supply chain that Tesla enjoys.
>>255062702022 Lightning is all sold out, but you can put an order down for a 2023 right now. Do you guys even walk into dealerships?
>>25506269Oh yeah go ahead and drop $55k on a new gen Ford product you have never driven, real smart. The Bronco is just a Ranger... Can you get one of those at the $30k or whatever they said?
>>25506276>Oh yeah go ahead and drop $55k on a new gen Ford product you have never driven, real smartPeople do this all the time. Don't like it? Just resell it
>>25506279Resell a lemon? glwt.
>>25506322Because you're guaranteed to get a lemon? You niggers will make any excuse possibleCan't even use the first year excuse since they stopped taking orders for first year models
>>25506334You trust a company that couldn't figure out a spark plug to produce a EV?
Been sitting waiting for my Tundra for 3 months now, supposedly 5 months to go. I'll probably cancel and get first in line for a 2023 with some issues worked out at this point.
>>25498529every 3/4 or 1 ton gets a column shifter, there’s a company that sells a kit to convert the super duty to a console shifter from an F150 and honestly it tempts me but the column shifter is nice because it’s out of the way.
>>25487725shit sorry anon I never even saw this, I got the tremor package for the front mechanical limited slip and the fender flares mostly. I hate the wheels and I’m not particularly fond of Duratracs, and I had the dealer take off the silly stickers before I ever even saw the truck.
>>25504527not really, drive train is share with other nissans and anything else can be picked up at salvage or aftermarket.
>Friend rags on me for liking old trucks and tells me to buy a new one>Drives an old Nissan 240sxAlso where can I buy a camper shell for picrel at decent price that isn't Facebook?
>>25502296Nice tractor.
>>25498464>the 2022 Cummins is a dinosaur in comparison. the engine is dated and the 6 speed transmission options are a joke in comparison to the 10 speedThat's also why it lasts a million miles and is used in many commercial applications unlike the powerchoke. If you want a mall crawler then yeah you're probably better off with a duramax or a powerstroke and a 8/10 speed.
