see you guys next season
turboing 1.6 NA or getting a 1.8?
>>24869213That last drive of the season to the gas station, bottle of fuel stabilizer in the passenger seat is always a little sad. I try to remember to be happy that it will make the car live longer and not rust to bits immediately.
>>24869194post your winter project
>>24869258Are ND bad with rust? I plan to get it treated once I get mine.
>>248692441.6 have a weak diff that will blow up under stock power.
>>24869264He's a saltcuck
>>24869406What is taking you so long? Paint it already!
>>24869406PAINT IT PAINT IT PAINT IT (an oem color)
>>24869416There’s a plenty of reasonsOne of them is money - if i’d want it faster it would get mre expensive than i’m willing to payOther reason is that some of the parts had to be fixed or redone and it takes time.It should be done in next 2-3 weeks and then it goes to the detailing…I’m aiming for something slightly before christmass or early next year.Patience my friend. Be patient
>>24869425It’ll be slightly more shiny than oem 18G
can i get a recommendation on NB engine mounts that wont vibrate my tits off?
>>24869441mmmhhh, i like silver, silver is nice! im a dark silver miat :D>>24869443>that wont vibrate my tits off?oem but thats no funt. racemounts on my daily
>>24869454everyone seems to say the extra vibrations are too much. i used to run an 80's turbo shitbox with balance shaft delete, and 90a mounts. it was loud and rough, but nothing as bad as everyone makes it out to be.so are twoare these hybrid kits a good compromise?
And you know… it’s winter here… i want to have it before march so i will be able to put a new exhaust and audio>>24869454>silver is niceYes it is. It also isn’t as obnoxious as let’s say red. Although i wanted to give it blue and purple flake, but albeit nice looking color it won’t be as nice on a whole car.
if you had to ball park it, what should the torque spec for battery/engine grounds be? 10 ft-lbf?
>>24869213Homestly i would drive RF on winter. Just take care of something for undertray and chassis so it wouldn’t rustI’m considering pic rel for winter car
>>24869264NC/ND are both considered improvements over NA/NB in terms of rust proofing, but if you live in the salt belt they'll be shit regardless.
>>24869467>are these hybrid kits a good compromise?I ran that hybrid kit but then I ended up just putting both race mounts on since I'm not a pussy and I hate wheel hop and having my tranny dancing around when I'm trying to snatch 3rd fast as fuck. Mines turbo though, idk if I'd even bother with the mounts if it wasn't turbo.
>>24869467btw i picked up used pair of rear poly diff mounts. will their pair with mazda competition engine mounts or should i go stiffer? or should i get something less stiffer for the rear?i want stiffer mounts, just not something thats gonna vibrate and creak every panel and numb my ass
>>24869496>or should i get something less stiffer for the rear?Idk, installing the diff mounts will help with wheel hop a lot and won't be as noisy as engine mounts, however it won't keep the shifter steady when you're trying to snatch gears mid corner or while sliding. I have some random stiff ass ebay diff mounts and those 949 engine mounts for the past 5 years, no regrets. Also a 9lb flywheel, shits the best combo on the planet.
>>24869213i parked away my NA today too. I won't see her until mid april now. Big sad
>>24869502you have both of those 949 engine mounts? i just bought their coolatn reroute, it was 30% off. no sale on mounts tho :(
>>24869622>you have both of those 949 engine mounts? iYes not the hybrid kit though, I got both of the bad ass race mounts. Re-route is cool but really not necessary unless boosted. I'd still do it even if I was N/A because the kit is nice but don't forget 01+ vvt motors don't like the reroute. You gotta swap to a 99-00 head gasket to get good coolant distribution if running a re-route.
Posting my Miata that I love so much, it's such a good car and never needs shit. It doesn't have a lot of Top Speed and Acceleration but it had a lot of Handling.
>>24869713its for a 1999 engine in an NA. Im doing a front chassis swap >>24869262I drive near redline a lot, the reroute kit should benefit me. im also installing a squaretop intake, and some fuel work.how much does your car vibrate with the mounts? what do you have for the rear diff? any body braces? i want to get the rails and maybe frogman arms.
Why is early NC so hideous?
>>24869821>its for a 1999 engine in an NA.Highly based. >how much does your car vibrate with the mounts?Idk I don't even worry about the vibrations, it feels right. I'll tell you what though the mirrors are fuzzy I can tolerate it and I'd rather not go back to sloppy shifting just for comfort I'd just run earplugs or something if I had a headache (I never get headaches).
>>24869871It's not, it's actually the best looking modern interpretation of the original NA. You don't know shit about anything and are mean. Modded it mogs the absolute shut out of the ND but I'm not even gonna go there with you since you are subhuman.
>>24869878Sounds like you are the actual "subhuman" here. Low intelligence behaviour.
>>24869872dope. mirrors becoming useless is expected. im more worried about rattles, or finding new rattles.
missing summer days at the moment.we keep goin in the winter, just put the snowtires on
>>24869978Happy thanksgiving lads
Is the only way to see if the engine frame rail has rust without removing any parts to check behind the wheels? Or are they visible from the engine bay too?>>24869978>>24869995nice miats
>>24869978>>24869995I really want an RF but I can't justify keeping two MX5's
>>24870114Same here.Fuck me if I’m not trying to get a decent sporty daily…New Nissan Z? Not abailable in europeTT? Not anymoreCayman? Maybe a used one…BMW? I’m not a gypsyGT86/BRZ? New ones still aren’t availableSupra? Expensive as f*ckThe only real option is RF, but having two Miatas is kinda pointless…Also NB>ND
>>24870114You don't need to justify anything fren, just do eet. Also Cotter run together y/y? Ignore my nsw plates I am from ACT
>>24869871All cars were were awkward blob looking things in those years.
>>24869264I have an NB, but mostly this >>24869312
>>24870187I think I mostly want an RF due to FOMO.There is unlikely ever be a NA non-hybrid sportscar like it in the near future.I really don't want to end up dumping a whole lot of cash on a 718 for a similar experience.
>>24870262Yep there won’t be.This is why i’m actually sad about all riced and trackday miatas out there. We’re like.. idk… 5 years before those will be scarce? I mean there’s a lot of miatas, but each day there’s a lot less of them
Do you guys think the ND will go the way of the S2000 in the future? Which variant (ST or RF) do you think will be more desirable when NA engines are truly gone?
>>24869194Lads, MRS or NB ? I cant decide and i will probably drive both before making a decision. The nb is basically better and more practical in every way but my heart wants an mrs. How are they to work on ? Livability ? It‘ll be my daily and i dont need much and i think an nb would be enough space/comfort since i dont drive highway or carry Stuff/passengers around but the mr2 seems a little bit too retarded in that compartment. Anyone here live with one what are your Experiences and tips ? Also do i have to always be careful so it doesnt kill me when hooning compared to the miat or is that just a meme? Im not against learning how to drive it but I feel like it will ruin the fun to always be cautious. Thx niggers
>>24870262I used to be big on the RF/hard tops because I wanted a coupe Miata, but then I got my NB soft top and I wouldn't go for the RF or a hardtop anymore. The ultimate visibility and open air is very nice.
>>24869482I’d go 20 ft lbs
>>24869467I have the same mounts. Vibrations are noticable but only bad up to ~2k rpm. The engine is absolutely planted. I can rock the car back and forth on it's suspension by pushing side to side on the intake manifold. Shifts are greatly improved and the turbo no longer hits the frame rail.https://youtu.be/Vyq4DFVTw20
>>24870395I already have a softtop NB (un)fortunately I still can't shake the RF itch. The visibility is nice though
>>24870187honestly, i'd drive and cherish any of thoset. bought the cheapest NA in the country
>>24870369We talked about this a little in the last thread. Here’s my post on MR2’s>>24830420To add to it regarding storage space: the frunk is stupid small, but it does have some compartments between and behind the seats from what I recall. You will not be doing a big shopping trip and bringing home groceries in it if you have a passenger with you. The earlier cars actually had decent storage, the sw20 had a fairly large actual trunk in addition to a good sized frunk. And hidden compartments behind the seats.
>>24870369Regarding storage space and daily-ability (as i own MRS after i owned miata for years, i'm >>24828192): In last thread someone mentioned shitty frunk space and had a laugh about it (because it's ridiculously small, yeah), but as >>24870960 said, MRS also has a somewhat sizeable storage space behind seats. I'd say total storage space (frunk + rear storage behind seats) in MRS could be somewhat similar to what miat offers in its trunk, except it's split in two and therefore less useful. Ttttttttttthis guy right here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW0v505p60Ushows the extra space around 7:08, and you can extend it by removing some of removable plastics inside the compartment, primarily ones that build a "floor" and removing them exposes good extra 5-10cm of height to use for storage. It really isn't horrible, i took a trip home in this car and i packed two backpacks + some bags just in this rear compartment, it's probably the biggest storage space in the car, more useful than frunk one. If you say your heart wants a MRS, then you'll love how unique it feels, how different it drives, how weird it feels like to hear the engine behind you, finally how hard it goes when pushed. Comes with a downside, because once you push it too hard, it pulls you out of the corner not with a happy little oversteer/understeer, but with the entire weight of your engine. Memes are overexaggerated, but at the same time it definitely is less willing to accept driver's mistakes. I had miata, i switched to MRS. My primary reason was rust - miata rusts like shit, mr2 is really well rust-proofed and it's crazy easy to find one that's not rotten to shit, but ever since i bought it, i just keep loving it more and more. It's less of a good daily than a miata (though they're definitely in same weight class when it comes to that), it's a bitch to work on compared to miata, it's also a bit scarier than a miata, but if you're kind of a person to love it, you'll probably love it to death..
where could one get a hard top for a 2000 NB miata? I know OEM ones are expensive so what is the "cheap" option? Quality doesn't really matter since I want to cut the hard top into having a targa top like a corvette. I'm trying to replicate this style of hard top but I'm curious what it's going to cost for the top to start with. I priced out one by CCP fab and it was roughly 1,500.

>>24871805What is your region? I assume it's US, but asking just in case. If you're EU, it's not hard to find a hardtop on various facebook groups, just post a post saying you look for a hardtop and usually you'll get a reply from someone even though offers are not available online.
>>24871813US, specifically the south east
I plan on changing springs and dampers on my 1.8 NC1 next year. Are height adjustable ones that much better? The good ones start at 1000€ and I could get a non height adjustable Koni kit for about 550€-600€.
I've DD a miata for 13 goddamn years.
>>24871778I think you finally convinced me, im gonna get an mrs id propably regret it if i got the miat and then saw mr2s cause ive always just kinda felt they‘re cooler. Thanks for the good answer and if it kills me its your fault.

>>24872269Yeah, up in the frozen, salted wasteland of scandinavia, a poor NA will rust away in a few years
>>24869872>>24870412How about the engine mounts from good win racing?https://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Parts/Miata/Engine/Mounts-Hardware.htmlthere are these blackbird fabworx.they have street and comp. same hardness of 70A, street are larger for more absorption.. they also make a drop version that lowers the engine by .5" is this useful? any mods needed?then another brand there AWR has multiple hardness choices from 62 to 95and then they also sell the innvoative brand, and its the only site that lets you pick hardness. from 60-85. >>24874325eh, I dont want poly bushings. such a pain to remove the stock ones, press or no press. a complete bushing set for a miata is outrageously expensive, like $800+My S13 and ST185 poly bushing set was around $300I rather invest in body braces

I'm trying to find frame measurements for an NB front K member, only thing I see are some forum posts many without numbers, or reference to the Miata shop manual, which I have, but dont see frame measurements.
>>24875457This is NA body dimensions.
>>24876143yeah, and thats all i can find. since the subframe is a bolt on there are no dimensions for it available through official sources
>>24876317You won't find specs for the sub frame. If the diagonals don't match, it's a throwaway part.
>negative battery cable snaps between the ground and the battery >replace with a short cable and bolt it through the ground bolt, works fine but the nut on the terminal is retarded and difficult to tighten down >finally replace cable with a different one with a better nut style >the part attached to the ground has a larger diameter hole and I don't think it was grounding anymore>Headlights were being wonky. Press button, one comes up the other halfway comes up and fucks up >change battery cable back to old one, popups work fine again Fuck me. Wasn't grounding right. Time to buy a different cable.
>>24876715Grounding issues are so strange. My folks have an old VW bus that has one of the first ever fuel injected engines of the type 2 series. Any one of half a dozen grounding wires just slightly loose and it runs like shit once it warms up. Runs fine when cold usually. Put the ground to a different part of the engine block and it doesn’t like it either. By all rights any one part of the block should be almost exactly the same as any other part.
Hi folks, plan on buying my first NA in a month or so. I wanted to know if prices drop when it starts getting really cold. Pretty much, should I wait it out or just buy as soon as I can? Also, are Fieros welcome here?
>>24876766>are Fieros welcome here?Yea fieros are frens with mr2 and mr2s are miatas
>>24872524Not sure anon, I've only run 18 year old stock mounts and then installed 949 hybrid setup shortly after the turbo. I doubt you need drop mounts.
I am buying a Mazda 2006 1.6 TDIIs there any flaws I should know of?
>>24878309if it's 2006 mazda, then the primary problem to look for is rustget mx-5, you'll also get rust but at least it'll be fun
>>24876472diagonals like this here?what should those measurements be? I only found numbers for b1 and b2. i measured both at 31.75
Got the new radiator in, finally replacing the original which had discoloration.
>>24878606supercharger good. i never got to drive a supercharged car, is it true it's just like having a bigger engine?
>>24878606Also the roll bar. Think I may get higher back seats that came with the NB2s (if I remember right). I'm not overly concerned but if my head whiplashed it hit the roll bar. The "padding" that came with the roll bar wouldn't do much good.
>>24878576you can tell us what the numbers are if you want. They just need to MATCHif they match, then the frame is square, meaning that whatever numbers you get at that point are "the numbers".
>>24878617I think that's the best way to discribe it, yeah. Pretty much same power delivery and range but just more of it. Coming from turbos it feels slower than it actually is sometimes because of how smooth it is.
>>24878621i dont have anything accurate enough to get good measurements. and its hard with just one person. the frame holes on B are elongated so its hard to find the center.I used a tailors tape which was the easiest to use and got 85.3 and 84.9 on B and 61 even on C using metric.cant do diagonal cause of the height differenceit seems to be square and looks level. issue is pic related.
>>24878675ah that looks nastyif it was me, i'd replace a frame piece with such a dent out of hand, but if you want some precise-ish measurements for D and E, get four pieces of all-thread, bolt them into the holes, and cut off the ends so they're all even with each other and measure across those. Could also do this with slotted holes.
>>24878699thanks. the more i look, the more creases i find. i dont have anything to compare it too, and the other side has some nearly identical waves. not sure if coincidence, or how it is stock, but one side definitely has more.the junkyard i got it from can do an exchange, its just a 4 hour round trip for me. waiting on a call back if they got another frame. hopefully its clean
>>24878822they are gonna pull on next week, but I can only come there on saturday. till next time miata bros
>>24878606>PCV valve opens and pulls air out of crankcase because there's a vacuum in the manifold>supercharger always blows air inI'm not knowledgable on that, but i'm curious. Is this working because manifold has negative pressure when throttle is closed (if it even does, i wouldn't know)? Or is it just never opening at all in this configuration? Wouldn't supercharger affect PCV valve?
>>24878895It’s a one way valve, it will allow air from engine case through whenever the manifold pressure is less than the pressure in the case. Negative and positive pressure are just relative terms, only meaningful when comparing two connected volumes. Your manifold will probably be at negative when the throttle plate is closed, since it won’t allow much through compared to the volume of air the cylinders are trying to pass. This is just an informed guess though, I’ve never had to get into it in detail. The amount of air super chargers push can be changed by increasing the sc pulley size (reduces volume of air per minute) or shrinking it (increases volume because it spins more times per engine rotation). If it was a kit specifically for your car (which I’m assuming it was being a Jackson) then it should be tuned for fairly proper actuation with the stock pcv. >>24878617Pretty much, no turbo lag whatsoever so as the other anon said it doesn’t give you the sudden rush as the turbo kicks in that your body and mind interpret as huge power. So a sc won’t have the huge top end that a turbo can be tuned for, but you never have the lag and lack of low end power from idle that a turbo has to rev past. A sc can be quicker off the line and is more predictable when changing throttle in corners. It’s very linear feeling. A turbo can be more fuel efficient since it’s basically an na engine when at low rpms, and has fantastic potential for power at the top end, it’s power band starts weak and then gets more powerful in an exponential manner.
>>24879079what else do you need for that supercharger? new injectors? ecu?
>>24879878Depends on model. JR m45 doesn't require anything extra but it's a good idea to get extra management whether it be a mega squirt or even just a power card. Anything other than the m45 supercharger, which is good for maybe 200hp or a low 14 quarter mile at best, will require injectors, fuel pump, and some sort of engine management.
>>24880274>it's a good idea to get ECUWait, so you claim that stock miata ecu can handle little bit of boost without any outside help? Or is it that JR m45 kit has some kind of ECU helper/piggyback in bundle?
>>24880307You don't need anything. Getting the JRPC is a good idea for preventing detonation/knocking but isn't required, more of a peace of mind. As far as I know only the m45 is that lenient.
>>24869194What did they mean by this?

I think the front end is a little too tall. >>24879878Other anon covered it already pretty well. Anything beyond mild bolt ons will want new ecu maps to get the most out of it and be safe. I didn’t even realize you could get away with a stock ecu with a supercharger. For a ton of info, if you want a full rundown on engine boosting and tuning, check out D4A channel on YouTube. He’s a dude from Eastern Europe that has a fairly extensively modded aw11 that he has been documenting, but he also does a ton of really good in depth videos on how engines work and the differences in design philosophies, and he has a very detailed series on turbo charging that he started on a while back.

Anyone ever replace their negative battery cable ? I understand it grounds at the body in the trunk and at the PPF. Putting it in the wire protector with the positive sounds like a pain in the ass. Either replacing the whole cable or im somehow going to crimp an eyelet on what's left of the ground in the trunk since it snapped here and I'm just not getting a good ground bolting the eyelet from a replacement cable from the battery to the body with it. Idk electrical shit sucks.

is $4200 a good price for a NB 1.6 with 120k miles? seemed to be in good condition, couldn't find any rust without dismantling it
>>24886112If you want an ND and can find one. The used market is so bad you will be paying almost new car prices on any used ND.
>>24886112>maybe 5k miles/year.That's what I told myself now I can't stop driving. Any excuse to go out and take the longest roundabout way. It's starting to hurt in gas costs.
>>24886300Can get a used ND1 2.0 with 40k miles for $22k or a new ND2 2.0 for $42k. Would honestly rather get an NA, but they're getting rare, especially clean ones.>>24886344True. I was doing that even with my beloved bugeye '97 Corolla. Miss that cute little bugger.
>>24886078Probably NA or NC1. You can also get the NC1 lower by about 1-2 inches with custom seat mounts. Im about 182cm and fit better in my NC1 than my previous NB, wouldn't want to drive an ND though because it's a really tight fit.
>>24886360Jesus! I got my ND2 last month for 28k. Alsobe careful that isn't a 2016 with a transmission about to blow.
>>24886078Kind of a rant, but consider an MR2 Spyder, you'd be surprised how damn tall-friendly it is in its stock form even. If you're 6ft>, any Miata is an absolute fucking pain in the ass to deal with in terms of fitment. People who will tell you otherwise here had most likely given up on heel-toeing and drive with their thighs up in the steering wheel. Forget about autox or track driving that requires wearing a helmet 'cause you won't fit even if you swap out the seats. I am currently waiting for my car to get back to me so I can bolt down a Lotus Elise seat but the way I'm seeing it, I'll be most likely selling it them because the difference will be marginal, and helmet fitment issues will still prevail. 6ft tall btw, unusually long legs, will never be able to stretch them out fully so on longer trips my ankle dies. Fun car, also fuck it at the same time.
Were any 107kW 1.8 NBs made for the European market?
>>24886422Yes, should be any facelifted NB. They all came with VVT-I
>>24886280i think soi can't find anything locally for under $10k
>>24886409I'm 5'11" without shoes and this is my experience though I'm also a fatass. With a helmet and hardtop I have to hunch a bit with the stock nb1 seat but I have a longer torso and shorter legs. Losing another 60 lbs would probably help with the leg room though. As of now I can't heel toe effectively, it does more harm than good. Still absolutely love the car but I dont know if I would still have it of I didn't have a truck to compliment my needs. A drive over an hour and I'm dying to get out and stretch.
>>248860786’1.5” without shoes on here, I fit fine in my nb, have about two inches from head top to canvas when sitting comfortably. I drive with top down when wearing a helmet 95%of the time, but I fit well enough with top up on the autocross days that actually dump rain. >>24886280Seems like a decent enough price, that’s kind of the price I was hoping for myself before I found mine for $5200. I haven’t even seen a Miata for that price that wasn’t clapped to hell for two years now.
>>24885755Yes, NC only, Ducks Garden ND aero is pic related. Link; https://www.ducks-garden.co.jp/item/mazda-nc-rht-bodykit-01/
>>24884478I always do it immediately. You will scrub your tyres if you don't.
>>24872465>tfw live in the Netherlands so we have salted roads for maybe a monthMy NA is my only car because I am a zoomer poorfag so I will just have to risk it. Would it be better to spend money to get my rust removed or to just buy a cheap shitbox that I can drive in the winter?
>>24888389I don't hate it, I guess, but that one kind of reminds me of people who put angry eyes on their jeeps. "No my miata isn't gay, see? It's mean! No smile."
Thoughts on the new carbonmiata kit that just got added? Rears are just two piece flares but the fronts are arent bolt on, they're the actual fender... so no cutting there. 70mm wider in the rear, 50mm in the front.
>>24890358Looks way better than the riveted on flares
>>24890355I ordered my rear speaker panel from Carbonmiata 97 days ago and it still isn't in the country.Fucking China.
>>24890417No shit. That's insane. I certainly hope mine doesnt take this long. Fun fact, with CM it costs $240 to ship an 8 piece flare kit but $700 to ship a hood

I really wanted an NC for ages because they were AU$10k for a while but they went retard mode with covid. Now they're $17k+ for something in a gay colour with hella miles and a fucked soft topI bought an e36 instead and I think I'm way better off for it. Actually has a fast engine, still got that sweet 50/50 weight ratio and it's great fun to work on. Parts are cheap af.I also feel like I dodged a bullet with the community. MX5 stuff in Australia is literally ALL old men. And daddy's money kids. e36 guys are all people that want the coolest, fastest car for as little money as possible.Miata's are awesome if they're actually cheap but right now they're not, so why pay a premium for a slow car?
>>24892464>17kstraya is a prison, and miata prices are part of the penaltynice e36 though, which engine?

>>24892661They call it a subwoofer panel because that's the only speaker with putting there. Highs are very directional and it something is between the ear and the source it won't sound right. Not trying too be an ass just don't want you to end up dis-satisfied
>>24884478What's more important than settling is resetting the bushings before you get the alignment. The ND is sensitive to alignment changes and has large dynamic camber and toe ranges in the rear. Be sure to break all arm bolts loose and then torque again with the suspension loaded. There should be like five bolts on each front corner and eleven on each rear corner. The car should sit another eighth to quarter inch lower after doing this. Go to a proper alignment shop and give them the specific values that you want.
Is it true what they say? That the Miata can drift like no other car can?I'm interested in one because of it's light weight and kino drifts, got some money but I've never drived a car. What Miata should I take?
>>24892502wtf 17k for an nc with those mods is nice
>>24893471Miatas aren't really the best drift cars because of how short the wheel base is.
>>24893662What is the best drift car? fun, light, drifts, good looking JDM.I heard Miata was up there though, maybe not the best but among the good ones.
>>24893693for the price? 90s or early 00s BMW, Nissan S-chassis, old volvos and such. Honestly, anything rwd with 150 ish hp and up will do fine in the beginning. Shitty all seasons are your friend
>>24893703Like an S13?And what do you think of the 350z ?
>>24893771350Z is great, tracking, drifting or just cruise around, but they are stupid expensive up here in northern europe, and you will get way more out of things with a european car which are cheaper here.S13 is much the same. Too rare up here, sadly, and most are too expensive, ruined (or both)
has anyone hardwired a dashcam in the NB? is it possible to lay out the cables to the rear mirror without them sticking out?>>24893471maybe learn driving first before you drift desu
>>24869194miata bros.. i have these spare knuckles i was going to build with brofab front bearing kit. i found these impact marks on the underside of the top ball joint mounting point. how does this even happen? can i still use these?
>>24894063here is a pic before i took them apart and noticed. my guess is someone tried to remove the upper balljoint with a mallet before. one of them had a factory cotter pin, the other side had a different style cotter pin. guess it was put together and worked... is this okay to reuse?
Went to the local Miat Meet tonight
>>24894642Haha, cute. >>24894151Before I even read your second post I immediately thought to myself ‘hammering to loosen a seized joint’. This is why you should always keep a brass headed hammer around along with a hand torch. I would guess that they are still in good enough shape to use, I have never seen that part break on any vehicle I’ve owned or dealt with, I have seen the ball joint stud that goes through that snap tho. I will say that that joint must have been really well stuck for whoever did it to have had to be a ton it that much. And they probably didn’t use heat or a ball joint puller, either of which should have gotten it loose without that much deformation.
filter tripfags even if they have a miata
>>24894769ok good. thats what i came to realize after finding more pictures. i had slight issues getting the lower ball joints out using the spreader tool. top ones popped out easy. i gotta find a cheap way to check for roundness in that bore hole. i got a dial gauge but no accurate turn table. bore gauges are expensive.
>>24893693drift anon here, everyone at the track drifts C5 corvettes, 350z's, 240sx's, G35's, Miatas, BMWs and sometimes volvos
Any ideas for mounting this camera and lens combination between the seats of an RF?I'm thinking maybe a suction cup mount either on the rear window or the trunk lid, but it seems like a hassle to always have to move it between the two, or forgetting and damaging the camera, RF mechanism or both. Has anyone seen anything that doesn't interfere with roof operation?
>>24897089Forgot picturet. /p/
>>24897094for my bunghole?
>>24897089Why not just a gopro
>>24897089Ram mount clamped to the passenger roll hoop is probably your best bet for something that large. I just use an adhesive mount on the bulkhead for my gopro.
>>24897254Here is what I use for a gopro. The top of the bulkhead is flimsy and will cause shaky video, but the front is rigid enough to use. Not sure if it's the same on the RF.
>>24897254Roll hoop seems like the best bet. The whole thing weighs 1.4 kg, it may be the only thing that's rigid enough. I wonder if it might damage the cover, and if so, how hard it is to remove it and reinstall it later. Otherwise it's back to the suction cup idea. In retrospect, I don't think it's a good idea to put the kind of torque involved on the rear window, so it's rear deck only.>>24897231It's massive overkill, I know. But it's what I have. If the mounting hardware ends up costing more than the Gopro I'll just get the Gopro instead.

Thinking about getting some new wheels for my 10AE. Leaning towards enkei rpf1s in either 15x7 or 15x8. Any thoughts it other recommendations? Any point in 15x8 if I'm staying with 195s?
It still amazes me the MX-5 has no competitors on the market. every challenger for the common man's roadster has died.
>>24898473>>24898551Cool color, not my cup of tea for a Miata but it is pretty. >>24898580Wait, did the 10ae not have a 205 width profile? My 2001 has 205 from factory. If you stay on only a 195 width then I see zero point in a wider wheel. You’d just be adding weight for no reason, the entire point of going wider on the rims is to get a wider contact patch.

>>24899887Looks like mazda-parts.com ships as far as I can tell. And maybe the dealership is really one of those stealerships, trying to rip you off.But even if they didn't, for a Miata, I'd do the drive and pay the price for new original parts. This isn't some shitbox that you only need to barely scrape by, this is a classic and should be treated as such. And don't fuel a market for ruining perfectly good Miatas as "parts cars". We don't need the few remaining to end up at S2000 or RX7 prices, let's keep them affordable for normal people too.
>>24869258Nigger Ive daily'd my Miata for 4 years in new england. Basically no rust. And any small rust spots that do pop up get treated in the spring with rust converter. >>24905308And you pulled the entire engine to do those jobs? There has to be another reason you yanked, I did all three shaft seals in a couple hours on mine in place. I realize yours having the cam shaft sensor on the back might be harder to do, I have an nb2 so it’s timing is run off the crank.
>>24905620It's 1000% easier to do this outside the engine bay. I can remove all the brackets and clean everything around them. I can clean the engine bay itself completely. Paint over rust spots. Nothing is in the way.I'm going to scrub and clean the block and paint it too.Installing a coolant reroute, square top manifold, new engine mounts, and swapping front subframe.
>>24905721can you show where rear main seal is i think mine leak
>>24905721Right, makes sense. I have new engine mounts myself, but have to make the time to pull my exhaust manifold off and lift the engine a bit to get them in. >>24905828Rear main seal is accessed between the engine and transmission, he’d have to crack them apart and pull his clutch to show that. It’s possible to do the job with the engine in the car, dropping the transmission out isn’t all that hard and then you’d have fairly quick access to see the condition of the seal. Front main seal is arguably harder to access since you need to basically do a timing belt job to access it.
>>24905935I've done the front main seal while doing a timing belt job but my tiny boi brain can'rt fathomn the rear area plz won't yuou show me dear boss

>>24905984alright so scratch everything around it with a picker and then fill in the gaps with jb weld
>>24905991Yeah, that oughta do. The instructions only say to be careful with the shaft itself, seems to me you can fuck everything else up. >>24907585>whats the plate next to it blocking?>what issues would that open port cause? The other port that's blocked off is where the egr valve actually mounts.
