if you live in a state that requires vehicle inspection you are a cuck

Ok Cletus, not everybody should have to see you dragging the back axle of your bullnose chevy down the highway, or putting out excessive, dangerous smog. This isn't the 80's anymore.

>VIC is one and done unless you want to transfer the rego to someone else
>>
>>24723162
I live in vic, my car was last inspected in 2015, since then i have more than doubled its power and it is still registered and roadworthy according to the government.
Probably the only thing victoria ever did right, $500 per year for rego and i do not need to get a road worthy more than once, i could get a road worthy then 10 years later it is still valid unless highway patrol canary my car.

Also in Victoria if your car is more than 25 years old you can get club rego on it for $90 per year that lets you drive it 90 days per year, so 3 cars with club rego = $270 and all year round driving.
>>
>>24723173
Also, Vic gets rec reg for dirt bikes. Let's you ride on any public trails, a lot of blacktop, has full health insurance and only costs $90/year.
Not sure if any other states do rec reg
>>
>>24723173
>90 days per year
>3 cars
>3 * 90
>270 days
>all year
you would need five cars to be able to drive everyday, or $450
>>
SA doesn't even have inspections unless you're bringing a car in from out of state.

Transferring ownership within the state? You take the old rego slip into service sa and you come out with the car in your name.

Easy peasy.

Victoria? More like SHITORIA, amirite.

New South Wales? More like New South Gayles, amirite.

You share the roads with dumb niggers and Karens driving on tyres that are worn down to the metal threads, you or your family could be killed at any time because of such retards.
Public roads should be maintained, the cars driving on them should be in good working order and the drivers should have the necessary skill set to not kill themselves or other drivers.
If you're missing any one of those things you're no different than a third world country. And mind you that the average age for vehicles in the US is growing, so this problem will only get worse.

Daddy government already decides what cars you're allowed to buy and has traffic laws in place to govern how you drive, and they literally give you a license to drive, you don't actually have freedom.
If you don't think the benefits of only allowing cars that work on the road outweigh the negatives then there's no helping it, you're retarded.

We have to get our cars safety inspected and smogged every couple years. I’m fine with it since it helps keep poors and shitboxes off the road, which makes everything safer.

To be clear, I absolutely understand your point of view. I don't want to be surrounded by dangerous methmobiles. But I would prefer that reality than one where the state indirectly pushes me in to selecting certain vehicles over others.
>>
>>24723998

Most people don't, get over it or move.

>>
>>24723998
In practice they're already not allowing you to own any car you might want to, since there are rules that limit the design of cars that can be sold and what cars you can import.
In my opinion you should be allowed to drive any car you want to regardless of how safe it is or how much it pollutes, as long as it's mechanically sound.
Compared to every other restriction that is already in place technical inspections are the least invasive regulation, it simply requires you to maintain the car you already own.
>>
>>24724062
as if those fucks even have their cars registration up to date, if its even registered at all
that or they pay some beaner shop to give them a pass
>>
>>24724072
>as if those fucks even have their cars registration up to date, if its even registered at all

>>
>>24723141
If you saw how your average normalfag treated a vehicle you would understand why they do it. People wouldn't change their brake rotors/pads until they were non-functional and would drive on bald tires until they were destroyed. Inspections are the only thing keeping many people from performing basic maintenance on their car.

t. Dad does state inspections
>>
>>24723827
A tax is a tax, you dumb piece of shit...
>>
>>24724085
People underestimate just how ignorant the average person is, they think of their cars as appliances rather than machines that need maintenance.
>>
>>24724065
>chuds
Relax mate.
Here's why I believe what I believe: taking away freedom of choice means that the choice is being abdicated to someone else, usually a government. Once they take that choice away from you, it will never be given back. Choosing to not wear a seatbelt is retarded, but I want the option of not wearing it if I feel like it. Choosing to drive a shitbox is dangerous, but I want the freedom to do so. Why? The definition of retarded varies wildly depending on who is asked. Some people think it is retarded to drive a car more than 10 years old. Would you like that decision to be the one forced on you by the state? Maybe you don't care, but likely you do. So let people decide independently, and if you don't want an old car, it it YOUR choice to get a new one, and MY choice to drive a 30 year old turd.
>>
>>24724071
Sure, inspections aren't a huge deal. But a collection of small concessions can add up to a big pile of shit. See the entire western world for an example.
>>
>>24724103
Because your arbitrary definition of "freedom" is and has always been "I want to do things regardless of the consequence or damage to public safety" Its entirely why inspections are required in those states because like >>24724085
said, people don't give a fuck. You not giving a fuck about yourself or your car doesn't allow you to put my safety at risk because you decided to not change your brakes which caused an accident. You not wearing your seatbelt effectively makes you a missile when you get ejected from your car in a head on collision. You cry about how these things are forced and somehow that violates your freedom when in reality you don't even know what your freedom is beyond some grandiose umbrella of "muh choice" which means fuck all. Its like saying you're forced to build a house to building code and that means you can't actively choose to have a run down piece of shit house that is structurally unsound.

Probably depends on the state I'm this anon >>24724085

My dad has told me some good stories from over the 35 years he's been doing inspections. He's had police show up at his shop on a few occasions over the years asking about stickers he put on cars involved in accidents, once was actually about a car used in a bank robbery. The sticker came off a car he inspected but it was on a different car (the older stickers you could easily remove and re-use). He's told me about at least 1 other shop around here that lost their inspection license because a car was in a serious accident after a tire blow out and the car was passed with bald tires.
>>
>>24724117
USA/Canada 70 years ago seems like a reasonable example.
>>
>>24723817
freedom = democracy, i and all the other taxpayers say your car should be parked, it doesnt belong on a public road. our freedom trumps your freedom.
>>
>>24724110
We agree or more things than we disagree, but just saying any kind of regulation is inherently bad is a very black and white way of looking at things and it's not practical in the real world.
I don't want to stop you driving a 30 year old shitbox as long as it works as intended, that's all. Also my dream cars are all 30 years old at this point anyway.

I am from a province without inspections (Alberta) and currently live in a province with inspections (ontario). Do you know which one has more dangerous shit cars on the road? Neither do I, because there is no noticeable difference.
I was going to keep going, but you have obviously made up your mind, and I have as well, so it's rather pointless. Let's agree to disagree.
>>
>>24724155
>north americans are too idiotic and corrupt to implement effective inspections, therefore inspections don't work
>>
>>24724144
Perhaps, but it certainly looks like a happier time to be alive than now. Ultimately none of this shit matters, as we are fast approaching eternal hellworld with no other options, but we can at least choose which principles we carry with us.

Not everyone needs to do a bunch of extra bullshit with their time just because you are a scared, cowering little sheep. The world is dangerous, grow up.
>>
>>24724166
ok monkey, stay in monkey world
>>
>>24724142
I suppose that I would assume regulation to be bad unless it can be demonstrably proven otherwise. I don't know if inspections can or have been proven to be useful or just a cash grab, honestly I've never looked in to it.
>>
>>24724156
But the burden of evidence lies on the one making the proposal or accusation. Do you know, empirically, that inspections are effective?
>>
>>24724179
No matter what numbers about traffic death reductions in the past 50 years I dig up, you're just gonna claim that they're the result of all sorts of policies, but not inspections. The bottom line is that collectively all the policies that have been introduced have made a huge difference.
>>
>>24724175
You've got to remember that /o/ is not a representative sample of the general population, we shitpost here because we have some interest in cars, the average person treats their car like an appliance, unless they take it to a shop to look it over, they'd happily drive until their brakes look like pic related.
Mechanical failure in itself is not a leading cause of accidents if you look at the statistics, but if you rear end someone because of bad tyres/brakes or lose control after a bump since your shocks are perished and the rear bounces, the main cause will be counted not the contributing factor.
