if you live in a state that requires vehicle inspection you are a cuck
>>24723141Ok Cletus, not everybody should have to see you dragging the back axle of your bullnose chevy down the highway, or putting out excessive, dangerous smog. This isn't the 80's anymore.
>>24723141>NSW requires yearly inspections>VIC is one and done unless you want to transfer the rego to someone else
>>24723162I live in vic, my car was last inspected in 2015, since then i have more than doubled its power and it is still registered and roadworthy according to the government. Probably the only thing victoria ever did right, $500 per year for rego and i do not need to get a road worthy more than once, i could get a road worthy then 10 years later it is still valid unless highway patrol canary my car.
>>24723162Also in Victoria if your car is more than 25 years old you can get club rego on it for $90 per year that lets you drive it 90 days per year, so 3 cars with club rego = $270 and all year round driving.
>>24723173Also, Vic gets rec reg for dirt bikes. Let's you ride on any public trails, a lot of blacktop, has full health insurance and only costs $90/year.Not sure if any other states do rec reg
>>24723173>90 days per year>3 cars>3 * 90>270 days>all yearyou would need five cars to be able to drive everyday, or $450
SA doesn't even have inspections unless you're bringing a car in from out of state.Transferring ownership within the state? You take the old rego slip into service sa and you come out with the car in your name.Easy peasy.Victoria? More like SHITORIA, amirite.New South Wales? More like New South Gayles, amirite.
>>24723173Sounds fucking terrible. How do they know which days you're going to drive?
>>24723202Just fudge the books. Truckies have been doing it since Adam was a boy.
>>24723141You share the roads with dumb niggers and Karens driving on tyres that are worn down to the metal threads, you or your family could be killed at any time because of such retards. Public roads should be maintained, the cars driving on them should be in good working order and the drivers should have the necessary skill set to not kill themselves or other drivers. If you're missing any one of those things you're no different than a third world country. And mind you that the average age for vehicles in the US is growing, so this problem will only get worse.
>>24723141AgreedAlberta has no inspections ever unless it's an out of province vehicle.
>>24723239Freedom is more important than safety>>24723208>new south gaylesKek
>>24723150>This isn't the 80's anymoredont care, im going to spend the rest of my life pretending im not in this pozzed generation
>>24723150>dangerous smogThis isn't 1910, fucking dumbfuck
>>24723141>state requires vehicle inspections>take it to Mexican shop down the street>slip José a $20 and he'll pass anything with wheels
>>24723630>muh freedomDaddy government already decides what cars you're allowed to buy and has traffic laws in place to govern how you drive, and they literally give you a license to drive, you don't actually have freedom. If you don't think the benefits of only allowing cars that work on the road outweigh the negatives then there's no helping it, you're retarded.
>>24723150>or putting out excessive, dangerous smog. Cry more, faggot>This isn't the 80's anymore.Doesnt matter
>>24723758The mexican mechanic shop near me will give valid temp tags for $50
>>24723239>tyres that are worn down to the metal threadskek, not maximizing your tire life, I don't order tires until I see metal threads, even then, I will drive on those for a week or two
We have to get our cars safety inspected and smogged every couple years. I’m fine with it since it helps keep poors and shitboxes off the road, which makes everything safer.
>>24723758>>24723771And let me guess, the mexican mechanic shop is never held accountable for passing absolute death traps? The US have a massive accountability problem. Far too many people get far too many opportunities to act like complete retards and never get held accountable for it.
>>24723150Kill yourself commiefornia
>>24723777who the fuck cares? it's my car, if I want to drive a deathtrap with wheels, its my right and my freedom to drive a deathtrap with wheels, let me guess, your bitch ass wears seat belts too because the gubmint told you too, you boot licking sheep faggot
>>24723789roads are public, if you want to drive a deathtrap you can drive it on your own land
>>24723789>its my right and my freedom to drive a deathtrap with wheelsOn your private property, not public roads.>your bitch ass wears seat belts tooYes, because it's the smart thing to do regardless of what the law says, you edgy little rebel cunt. Kicking your legs for the sake of kicking your legs. The sooner you darwin yourself out of existence with your retardation the better.
>>24723789That's not how it works and nobody thinks you're edgy or cool or rebellious.
>>24723791>roads are public, if you want to drive a deathtrap you can drive it on your own land>>24723791>On your private property, not public roads.roads are paid for by taxpayers, since I am a taxpayer, I have the right to drive whatever the fuck I want on it, if they don't like it, then abolish taxes, taxes are unconstitutional anyway
>>24723817youre not the only taxpayer retard, the rules got voted in. seethe
>>24723817Holy shit you're fucking dumb. There's no way you're above the age of 16 and have pay anything besides sales tax in your life, you little retard.
>>24723822voting is rigged, its just a form of gubmint control
>>24723846of course, everything is rigged in a conspiracy to make your life more miserable, you fucking schizo
>>24723872>schizonot a schizo, just a libertarian
>>24723777It's funny because in any other context it's Americans who are the first to point out that this is third world behaviour.
>>24723765Daddy government has taken much of our freedom away, so you advocate for confiscating even more?To be clear, I absolutely understand your point of view. I don't want to be surrounded by dangerous methmobiles. But I would prefer that reality than one where the state indirectly pushes me in to selecting certain vehicles over others.
>>24723998>But I would prefer that realityMost people don't, get over it or move.
>>24724005I already live in a place with no inspections. I'll stay where I am, and you stay where you are.
>>24723141>live in supposed nanny-state capital of WA, seattle no less>no emissions, no safety inspections, not even to transfer registration from out of state
>>24723141>fuck inspections>gets hit by some asshole who wasn't forced to repair his rusted out suspension so it all fell apart at the last pothole as he careened right into you.
>>24724027you're like the chuds who cried about seatbelts becoming mandatory.
>>24723998In practice they're already not allowing you to own any car you might want to, since there are rules that limit the design of cars that can be sold and what cars you can import. In my opinion you should be allowed to drive any car you want to regardless of how safe it is or how much it pollutes, as long as it's mechanically sound. Compared to every other restriction that is already in place technical inspections are the least invasive regulation, it simply requires you to maintain the car you already own.
>>24724062as if those fucks even have their cars registration up to date, if its even registered at allthat or they pay some beaner shop to give them a pass
>>24724072>as if those fucks even have their cars registration up to date, if its even registered at allthey get pulled over and their cars towed
>>24723141If you saw how your average normalfag treated a vehicle you would understand why they do it. People wouldn't change their brake rotors/pads until they were non-functional and would drive on bald tires until they were destroyed. Inspections are the only thing keeping many people from performing basic maintenance on their car.t. Dad does state inspections
>>24723827A tax is a tax, you dumb piece of shit...
>>24724085People underestimate just how ignorant the average person is, they think of their cars as appliances rather than machines that need maintenance.
>>24724065>chudsRelax mate. Here's why I believe what I believe: taking away freedom of choice means that the choice is being abdicated to someone else, usually a government. Once they take that choice away from you, it will never be given back. Choosing to not wear a seatbelt is retarded, but I want the option of not wearing it if I feel like it. Choosing to drive a shitbox is dangerous, but I want the freedom to do so. Why? The definition of retarded varies wildly depending on who is asked. Some people think it is retarded to drive a car more than 10 years old. Would you like that decision to be the one forced on you by the state? Maybe you don't care, but likely you do. So let people decide independently, and if you don't want an old car, it it YOUR choice to get a new one, and MY choice to drive a 30 year old turd.
>>24724071Sure, inspections aren't a huge deal. But a collection of small concessions can add up to a big pile of shit. See the entire western world for an example.
>>24724103Because your arbitrary definition of "freedom" is and has always been "I want to do things regardless of the consequence or damage to public safety" Its entirely why inspections are required in those states because like >>24724085said, people don't give a fuck. You not giving a fuck about yourself or your car doesn't allow you to put my safety at risk because you decided to not change your brakes which caused an accident. You not wearing your seatbelt effectively makes you a missile when you get ejected from your car in a head on collision. You cry about how these things are forced and somehow that violates your freedom when in reality you don't even know what your freedom is beyond some grandiose umbrella of "muh choice" which means fuck all. Its like saying you're forced to build a house to building code and that means you can't actively choose to have a run down piece of shit house that is structurally unsound.
>>24724110Unlike based ...... of course. Somalia? Brazil? I don't know what sorta shithole you see as a role model.
>>24723141I live in a state with a semi-decent public transport.
>>24723777>And let me guess, the mexican mechanic shop is never held accountable for passing absolute death traps?Probably depends on the state I'm this anon >>24724085My dad has told me some good stories from over the 35 years he's been doing inspections. He's had police show up at his shop on a few occasions over the years asking about stickers he put on cars involved in accidents, once was actually about a car used in a bank robbery. The sticker came off a car he inspected but it was on a different car (the older stickers you could easily remove and re-use). He's told me about at least 1 other shop around here that lost their inspection license because a car was in a serious accident after a tire blow out and the car was passed with bald tires.
>>24724117USA/Canada 70 years ago seems like a reasonable example.
>>24723817freedom = democracy, i and all the other taxpayers say your car should be parked, it doesnt belong on a public road. our freedom trumps your freedom.
>>24724110We agree or more things than we disagree, but just saying any kind of regulation is inherently bad is a very black and white way of looking at things and it's not practical in the real world.I don't want to stop you driving a 30 year old shitbox as long as it works as intended, that's all. Also my dream cars are all 30 years old at this point anyway.
>>24724128>the birthplace of boomers>reasonableAll the seeds for today's retardation were sown then.
>>24724116I am from a province without inspections (Alberta) and currently live in a province with inspections (ontario). Do you know which one has more dangerous shit cars on the road? Neither do I, because there is no noticeable difference.I was going to keep going, but you have obviously made up your mind, and I have as well, so it's rather pointless. Let's agree to disagree.
>>24724155>north americans are too idiotic and corrupt to implement effective inspections, therefore inspections don't work
>>24724144Perhaps, but it certainly looks like a happier time to be alive than now. Ultimately none of this shit matters, as we are fast approaching eternal hellworld with no other options, but we can at least choose which principles we carry with us.
>>24724156>YOU must do something that infinitesimally increases my safety at any give time. Not everyone needs to do a bunch of extra bullshit with their time just because you are a scared, cowering little sheep. The world is dangerous, grow up.
>>24724166ok monkey, stay in monkey world
>>24724142I suppose that I would assume regulation to be bad unless it can be demonstrably proven otherwise. I don't know if inspections can or have been proven to be useful or just a cash grab, honestly I've never looked in to it.
>>24724156But the burden of evidence lies on the one making the proposal or accusation. Do you know, empirically, that inspections are effective?
>>24724179No matter what numbers about traffic death reductions in the past 50 years I dig up, you're just gonna claim that they're the result of all sorts of policies, but not inspections. The bottom line is that collectively all the policies that have been introduced have made a huge difference.
>>24724175You've got to remember that /o/ is not a representative sample of the general population, we shitpost here because we have some interest in cars, the average person treats their car like an appliance, unless they take it to a shop to look it over, they'd happily drive until their brakes look like pic related.Mechanical failure in itself is not a leading cause of accidents if you look at the statistics, but if you rear end someone because of bad tyres/brakes or lose control after a bump since your shocks are perished and the rear bounces, the main cause will be counted not the contributing factor.
>>24724225Fair enough, I guess.
>>24723141>live in a state with no inspections>do the inspections and work yourselfI find it a bit amusing that the R10 is in better working order than my old man's Challenger SRT8 and tC.
Imagine being more miserable than Quebec
>>24724269I don't know what to hate more, the furfag or the fact that it's holding a crescent wrench.
>>24723141im surprised california doesnt require inspections. probably cause of all the poor people who would never be able to afford to fix oil leaks.
Safety inspections are simply systemic racism intended to keep minorities segregated by limiting their mobility.
>>24724674no its to keep the crazy ass whiteboys from riding around in their homade dragsters, its anti white, niggers just shouldnt even own cars.
>>24723780the irony of your post was not lost.
>>24723946Oh, a retard then.
>>24723141If you live anywhere in the world after 2020 you are a cuck.
>>24724172Ok, you stay OUT of monkey world, no matter how attractive the low property prices are.
>>24724309Nice.>>24724479Don't be mean to Jin Macchiato, he was an apprentice factory worker before he became the Taranis' full-time mechanic. It's one of his 4 favorite tools he keeps around even when he sleeps.
>>24723141>live in an inspection state >haven't had a car legitimately pass inspection in 5 years
>>24726087Did you pay Juan?
>>24724269cute dog anon, does have soft tummy?
>>24726233He indeed does have a soft tummy. But the only reason he wears his outfit the way he does is because short legs, he is a Dachshund/Basset Hound after all
>>24723141Do you mean like full inspection or just an emission test?
>>24723141>live in an inspection country>oxygen sensor has been fucked for years>my car is probably responsible for at least one polar bear death per year>paid some sketchy mechanic so the niggers at the inspection can't detect the poisonous smoke that comes from my car>always approve inspection
>>24724269that's cool anon, both the car and the dog
>>24724674>fighting segregation suddenly matters when it's about removing car inspectionsYeah right.
>>24723141>nooo you cant buy a 2000$ car and drive it>you have to fix the catalytic converter a little bit of oil/rainpuddle/methhead broke it like how the engineers designed it to break that will be 3000$ + tip at one of 3 approved cat companies who donated to the government officials>Whoa whoa whoa your engine misfires at idle?!?! you have to replace the engine for 5000$ plus 2000$ labor plus tip to make the little light turn off its not saaafe>Are you trying to dieeeeeee the passenger seat weight sensor is malfunctioning and turning off your passenger airbag you have to buy dealer scantool and probably a new seat to pass inspections plus tip>Did you throw away your clown world 18" alloys and get 16" steelies with no tpms sensors?!?! your gonna hurt somebody the light is on!!!!Fuck georgia I love alabama no inspections no emissions 2.50$ a gallon
>>24723169SA is more based, there is no concept of “roadworthy certification.” Therefore any car which has plates and is not defected, written off, or reported as stolen/having liens - can be registered by anyone at will. This means i can buy lemons and flip cars without any roadworthy hassles when buying and selling.
>>24723169>$500 per year to have the privilege of driving a car in a country where you absolutely must have a car.Australia really is hell on earth.
>only have to do inspection if I bring it from another provinceReminder that there are places that do YEARLY inspections aka cash grab
>>24724269I like your dog anon. :)))
>>24723162Fuck you, leave Tas alone
>>24723685Fly fast and fly free brother.
Seems to me like government issues driver licenses to idiots and then to cover up that malice they then force the vehicle inspection that non-idiots wouldn't need to begin with, so it's like being punished twice by an entity you pay to exist.
