How do you feel about Toyota winning the grille war?
>>
I don't get it.
Are those grills some kind of inside joke in the automotive industry? They look fucking ugly, but more and more brands are pushing it.
>>
Every car generation we stray further from gods light

Toyota is still soulless from the past 4 years and it won't matter.

they have to show they did some fluid dynamic work.

>One company starts the trend

>>
>>24722660
What's the real purpose of this? They have to know it looks stupid. Is the mesh lighter than the bumper/front end cover material and they're trying to save weight by literally giving you half a front end cover?
>>
>>24722660
> avalon
literally mean swallowing in french
>>
>>24722660
They follow the trend, otherwise they are retarded cuz they can't see anything cuz of their slanted eyes.

That name suits them cuz it will consumes itself.

holy shit that is sad

They aren't, the Avalon is getting canned this year
:(
>>24722660
like genuinely what the fuck is up with the grilles - there can't be that much need for air right??? it's not like they have to cool down a fucking v12 engine

I hate new cars so much bros... I never thought it would get this bad as someone who enjoys cars

>>24723551
look at the price of F80 M3/4
they are literally not going down

but still they are buying inline 3 cars from their chinese factories then complain about the vib.
They can hate US all day in the end of the day when they have money they send their kid to US.

What made them so risk averse in the first place? Do none of these companies have the madmen that made the company great in the first place?
>>
>>24722664

My theory is that the black plastic doesn't get stone chipped so the car doesn't age as fast, has better resale and the brands rep is improved. Also paint is alot more expensive than ABS.
>>
>>24722660
Toyota design is ugly as sin, except for the Tacoma, the new sienna looks ok I guess also.

Honda's Civic redesign is tight butthole tho
>>

>My theory is that the black plastic doesn't get stone chipped so the car doesn't age as fast
False unfortunately. I don't know why but the black plastic on them was white underneath and stone chips caused little white specks to appear. It's weird and I don't get it but it happens.

It's not even a grille, it's just a closed piece of plastic. It's not even pretending to be a grille, there's no airflow over 75% of it and it's just more plastic that breaks off easily and costs an entire front bumper to replace.

all wrong. These modern cars all have 12 bajillion different cooling circuits (oil1,engine coolant, turbo air coolers, ducted vents for hvac, ducted vents for brakes, and sometimes more)
>>
>>24732400
Why do modern cars require more cooling?
>>
>>24732403
density of the drivetrain and power unit,
basically because surface is a quadratic funtion and volume a cubic function..

in a big block the temperatures produced arent that high since
1. they dont burn at stochiometric proportions and 2. the pressure and compression ratios are smaller.
google some of these words if it helps

>muh aerodynamics
>muh fluid dynamics

This is all bullshit and I wish people would stop using it to excuse manufacturers from the fact they make absolute dogshit designs.

They CHOOSE to do this.

Nothing about aerodynamics, crash safety etc

Look at pic related, it's a traditionally styled 1960s front end.

It's a modern car, it's aerodynamic and crash approved.

You can have any design you want applied to a modern form down to the 1950s and it would work.

They don't want to make good looking cars.
>>

Kill yourself you brainless fag
>>
>>24732418
a lot of modern cars look like shit but have all those complicated tiny fins and angles that imply some sort of big brain aerodynamic sensibility, but it really just does fuckall and often works against fuel efficiency. cheaper cars are supposed to be shit so you spend more on the car that isn't designed to tactically disappoint in ways that make you look up a trim level and fantasize.

the further a car diverges from a textbook NACA airfoil, the less streamlined it is, and the shittier the fuel economy will be. we unironically need to RETVRN to 1930s streamlining, informed by modern aerodynamic knowledge and standards. Shit grilles happen when companies find a buncha niggers and spics, get them in a room, and show them concept cars until they start whooping about how big and badass it looks. the cult of the focus group may be the most damaging social institution of our age
>>
>>24726542
Revenues bring stocks up and makes you keep your job. Current corporate management strategy. Play safe and sell, do what most do, don't risk it, people will buy it anyway.
