Bros I'm coming to America soon and buying a dual sport to do the Trans America Trail. I'm flying into Colorado to meet a friend and the process to register it and shit looks pretty easy. The only catch seems to be that insurance requires an address. Does anyone check this or can I just feed the insurance company a bullshit address?
>>

yeah, but she sold it like 2 months later after discovering you shouldnt buy an old ironhead chopper for your first bike. she lived in Virginia, sold it to some tattoo artist in NC. now shes doing that whole transient lifestyle in a van thing like every other millenial white woman who lost their server job last year

lol everywhere unless you pay cash and take your bike home in a trailer, they won't let you register a new vehicle and drive it off the lot without insurance
>>
>>24605582
Don't do it unless you really can't stand the wind/cold. Sometimes the windscreen sucks for your height and makes the wind deflect into your helmet.

>>24605583
Sounds like a fun trip. most dual sports are meme priced but hopefully you can find something decent.

Holden utes are rated for a 700kg payload; that ute is barely loaded. Looks like it's been lowered, but the front isn't even rising.
>>
>>24605608
It's very easy to make your own nice looking windscreen for practically free if you aren't absolutely set on it being see through. Then you just make it overly tall and chop the top off an inch at a time until it is pushing the wind where you want it. And yes, you definitely want barkbusters.

An El Camino is a superior bike hauler? Basically the same bed length as most trucks (lil bit thinner) and it's lower to the ground. You still get a V8 and RWD.

Bark busters/handguards work well. My dad slapped some on his bike and I went from "holy shit my hands are cold" to "wow, now it's my neck, feet, etc".
Works great

I personally cut a huge amount out of a fairing I had because of the buffeting. Was great under 60mph, but freeway was pure hell. If I had to do it again and NEEDED a windscreen I would do
>>24605618

Most of the reason my bike has the windscreen is it looks better with it. Looks like something is missing when I pull it.

>>24605611
not your problem, buyer beware. no warranty, written of verbal, is expressed or implied. all sales final. thats why i always have 2 copies of a bill of sale ready for when i sell a bike. i know its not legally binding, but it gets them off your ass when you point out they agreed to everything

I run u-haul trailers since the shitbikes I get are non runners+ I don't really enjoy pushing 500+lb bikes into trucks with tall beds.

>>
>>24605663
Yeah I don't ride my chain driven bikes much, so IDK. That's the duality of lubing it though. One side it has to be sticky enough to stay on at high speed/rpms, but at the same time that means it holds dirt...
>>
>>24605646
>Lubing your chain is a meme
>t. rusted chain
if you actually ride your bike you will want to clean it and lube it, retards just use way too much lube and it makes a mess

you aren't lubricating it so make it move, you oil the metal so it doesn't rust and cause the links to seize from the outside
>>
>>24605629
A van would be perfect actually. You could keep all your tools and stuff in there too.
>>24605630
Yes that's true El Camino's are pricey. Pic rel Ranchero's aren't as pretty, and you can pick them up for dirt cheap.
>>24605631
The Ranchero's at least last pretty long up here in Canada.
>>24605640
It's really 10feet long? I don't know about Rancheros, but El Caminos have like a 6.5' bed, plus the extra you get if you leave the tailgate down.
>>
>>24605629
Vans are excellent for transporting bikes. You keep the bikes out of the elements and also more secure from thieves.
>>
>>24605663
with an o ring chain you arent lubing the pivots, youre just keeping the links from rusting and holding road grive that could tear up your o rings. that being said, i have not lubed or cleaned this chain at all outside of my transmission oil leak and a monthly power wash. so far i have not noticed anything bad. i get regular non o right chain for 30 bucks at farm and fleet. #50 roller chain is the same as 530

I hate this side of my motorbike that otherwise is fine. I also kept her for long enough and I got a bit bored of her.

4 cylinders tend to be pretty smooth on the highway. So my guess is you will be turning faster rpm, have less low frequency vibrations, but could have some buzzing. Really depends on the engine, rubber isolators, and speed.
Check out the specs of both bikes online to get an estimate. A 400 four will sound better, look cooler, and might have less frequent valve checks.
If they are similar price, or you can pay for it the 400 honda will be a better bike.

Any advice for riding with shoulder pain? Got hit by a car a while back (not on my motorcycle) and while Im healed up and have full range of motion/etc, after I ride for a while my shoulder hurts so fucking badly and even gets a bit numb. Try a different handlebar height. Guessing it hurts to go up with your hand, so try a that reaches out towards you, or something different.

This might be a cringe post, sorry, I don't know much about mechanics and I'm not up to date on motorbikes.
I've wanted a B-King for a number a years. I could potentially afford one right now... but they are 10-15 years old. Maybe I've waited too much.
And that makes me wonder: what would I be missing by getting one? I guess newer bikes have better... everything? What kind of tech do newer bikes that I really wish an older bike would have?
Just for a bit more money I could get a brand new or very new 1000cc bike.

I used to have 50cc mopeds many years ago and I've been riding on a Suzuki GS500 for a number of years.
I want a bit more oomph, even though I know I'll never even come close to push the bike to its limits, and I don't know if I should look into newer bikes or just get one that I used to like as a fantasy.
Have motorbikes evolved a lot in the past 10-15 years? Is a new(er) GSX-S much more advanced than a B-King, even if it has less torque? Even if they are more advanced, will a simple guy that don't push bikes to their limits, like me, notice the difference?
>>
>>24605938
>will a simple guy that don't push bikes to their limits, like me, notice the difference?
probably not.
Suzuki has especially kept making older style bikes that just wok.
The b-king had a modern twin spar frame with decent handling, good brakes, and a huge motor when it came out.
A gsx-s 1000 will be better around the corners, and be lighter but the b-king will still handle great.

Both damn fast. I don't think you will notice the difference unless you take both on a long test ride.

Lol what kind of 2 wheeled (not 4) bike are you actually? For some reason I thought you were only a Miata (motorcycle). Running does seem fun but you gotta weigh the risk to reward ratio. It's kinda immature and selfish too especially to your loved ones if you die but then again I can't imagine how much of a thrill it is. I think if I did a lot of track days, if I learned how to wheelie and do skids I'd be more inclined to run since you just know how to ride if you can do those things. You know when the blue lights come on your gonna be panicking so you might end going over your skill limit which is disastrous but if your skills are maxxed out it won't take much to dust some government issued Impala/charger with 999,999,999 idle hours on it.

Excellent write up anon. Im both a Miata and a ninja 300. Next year I was thinking cbr600rr because undertail exhaust are neat or the katana. I wish my life wasn't so good tbdesu, I have too much to lose to actually run when I think about it. Especially with 0 track days under my belt. I guess I don't have what it takes to run. Rip.
>>
>>24607387
I said bold you nigga which is $288 from cardo or $230 on ebay, which has 40mm jbl speakers that people say sound good
The sena 20s evo was $200 for me and has 40mm speakers but people say they are mediocre
The packtalk bold is better in every other metric too, except for the fact the fuckers I made friends with have senas.
Im not going to find new motorcycle friends since im happy with these, (1 guy lives on my street, they like anime, boardgames, guns, vidya)
Should I just say fuck it and get the cardo since its far superior...The guy has a 30k so hes already losing some features by having to connect to my 20s, it would be no different than him connecting to a cardo I think.
>>
>>24607387
Buy it from cycle gear and pay the twenty dollars for the replacement plan for two years. Then go in a year or so later and tell them the speakers are cutting out. You'll get a brand new one. Make sure to pay another twenty for a new replacement plan and repeat forever. Also the bold and slim are like $100.00 less expensive

That's a good combination. I honestly belong on a 300. The cool thing is you can get the same tires now as the 1000s. I don't think it was like that before especially for the smol bikes. C-can I see your ninji anon? It sounds nice.

pairing from sena to cardo is kind of annoying, but it can be done
cardo offers substantially more value for the same amount. you really don't even need a packtalk unless you ride with a big group. the 4+ is good for 4 bikes at 3/4 mile
They also have much better sound quality and volume compared to senas, but mic quality isn't as good.
