Gas doesn’t cost $11/gal here and dealing with modern diesel emissions bullshit is a pain in the ass. What’s your point? You can buy diesels here, but we don’t need to because the 5L 8cyl gas engine isn’t taxed nearly as bad by corrupt politicians.
>>
Burgers seethe at everything that isn't American or Japanese

>bathe in the river where you poo and dump dead bodies
>>
>>24603516
>just spend 30k more for the diesel :^)
>>
>>24603516
What a ridiculous claim. I filled up my 25 year old 4Runner for $28 dollars today, and given that it gets about 13mpg I'll fill it up for 28 bucks again in a week or two. THAT is the reason we don't use diesel.
>>
>>24603516
Why would I give one single whiff of a fuck about this irrelevant bongshit?
>>

>has less torque than a 7.3 powerstroke or 5.9 cummins from 20 years ago

sorry is this supposed to be impressive or somethin

What do you think a Cummins is?
>>
>>24603919
>has less torque than a 7.3 powerstroke or 5.9 cummins
>>24604032
Compaing a truck engine to a passenger car engine less than half the size, either way it has more power than 7.3 powerstroke and the same amount of torque.
>>
>>24603516
>modern diesel

Disgusting. Lots of medium duty guys here are even going back to gas. My state has been buying 8.8L gas powered school buses for 3 years now because the new diesels are so terrible. Even at 50l/100km theyre still cheaper to run.
>>
>>24604072
>Even at 50l/100km theyre still cheaper to run.
Sure they are.
>>
>>24604337
Depends on driving patterns, relative fuel prices, initial capital investing, repair costs, etc. UPS bought a whole bunch of bigass gas trucks the better part of a decade ago, and who knows what exact combination of factors made that seem attractive.
>>
>>24603516
How so? You can get all the half tons with a small diesel engine but they sell about 5 of them a year. Why the fuck would you want an all aluminum diesel?
>>
>>24604072
Good idea especially with the propane because its better for the engine and less pollution and cheaper. I dont know why we are still using gasoline except for being under control of the gasoline jew. I was thinking the other day what will happen when the earth runs out of gasoline one day
>>
>>24604394
>the gasoline jew
JFL it's arabs
>>
>>24604047
>either way it has more power than 7.3 powerstroke and the same amount of torque.

>Rover I6 tourq: 406 pound feet

By same amount of tourq do you mean 120 less foot pounds? Because the powerstroke makes 525 pound feet stock at 1,200 rpm… wonder what engine you’re thinking of that makes less than 406?
>>
>>24604394
Earth won't run out of gasoline until it runs out of crude oil. So we'll have to do something with it for the forseeable future considering crude oil is second only to water in terms of how much of it there is.
>>
>>24604402
Why does America prouduce and export more oil than all Arabs states now that fracking is a thing then?
>>
>>24604402
It's not even arabs. Holy fuck it's not the 1970s anymore.
>>
>>24604394
Probably 80-90% of school buses here are propane powered. It makes sense for them because it's easy to refuel them while they sit at night. Propane is retarded for personal use though.
>>
>>24604405
Where did you get 406 pound feet from? It literally says in the OP pic 700 Nm of Torque.

Ok then we can invent something else like alcohol or something i havent tought about it long enough. Some type of clean burning fuel is what we want
>>
>>24604684
Current corn-based ethanol is already an energy negative resource. It's not oil, but it's also not 'green' in the green sense as an alternative.
>>
>>24603516
That motor is more complicated than some single prop planes wtf lol
Why would I get a car like that?

But please I implore you; do not call me a 'burger'. Or I shall be forced to levy a series of girthy generalized insults against yourself and your nation.

>>
>>24605299
Yeah how come no one else has posted this, modern land rovers are massive piles of shit, only reason the old ones were any good was because they were so mechanically simple the brits couldn't fuck something up on them.

>>
>>24603516
We have the cummins, why would I care about redcoat garbage?
>>
>>24604337
After factoring in cost of repairs and initial purchase price, yeah the gassers are cheaper over their lifetime even when they burn nearly twice as much fuel. And theyre a lot more fucking reliable to boot.

Everytime a new diesel bus hasn a problem with its aftertreatment or VGT turbo, etc, 10k - 15k repair bills are the norm and the bus is usually down for weeks, meanwhile the gassers are still plugging along

>>
>>24603516
Tard here. Can someone explain why such huge fuel pressure is needed (2500 bar)?
>>
>>24605818
Normal for modern common rail diesels. Higher pressure and better controlled injection = better efficiency and power
>>
>>24605764
>>
>>24605818
Diesel has always been high pressure. Even before direct injection.

Name me an unreliable JLR engine made within the last 20 years. You can't. If anything, they're far more reliable than anything from the Germans.
AJ-V8 - Bulletproof
TDV8 - Bulletproof
AJ-V6 - Reliable
3.0 V6 Diesel - Reliable
2.7 V6 Diesel - Reliable as long as oil chages are done regularly.
>>
>>24603516
What the fuck does "dealing with modern diesel emissions" even mean exactly? Dumb cunt burger please explain.

Why are you posting Ford engines in britbong cars?
>>
>>24605770
That's basically a car engine, that has no place being in a fucking bus.
>>
>>24606613
>Ford engines in britbong cars?
With the exception of the AJV6, which is a modified Duratec V6, all the other engines are all designed and built by Jaguar.
>>
>>24606464
>whats wrong with the v6
The 2.7 TDV6 has an issue with the crankshaft snapping, this is prevented by doing oil changes before the specified interval, as they're set too high.

You're thinking of the AJ126, that's basically the AJ-V8 with 2 cylinders removed, should be similar to the AJ-V8 in reliability I guess. The AJ-V6 was the Duratec V6 with Jaguar heads and VVT added.

that's the one. he said the v8 was bulletproof while the v6 was only reliable so I wanted to know exactly what it was that made it worse from a reliability standpoint because im actually looking at purchasing an xe

>>
>>24606785
They work great. All the diesel buses are actually detuned to around the same power levels. I prefer driving the gassers as they perform almost identically but sound way better, have far less cabin noise, no Regen or DEF bullshit to deal with, and I collect shitloads of poi ts at the gas station when I dump $350 worth of gas into them every 2 - 3 days

>>
>>24603516
Diesels aren't that bad, there just aren't many diesel mechanics in the States so unless you personally know one owning a diesel is probably not a great idea.
>>
>>24603516
Is it another turd turbo i6 that makes the same torque as an American V8 but sounds like wet dog farts? Yeah knock yourself out Nigel.
>>
>>24603516
Why would that make Americans seethe? People here love their I6 diesels. So much so that GM had to scramble to toss them into Cadillacs and Tahoes after they launched their new engine in the Silverado. That doesn't even began to scratch the surface of Cummins fags.
>>
>>24603919
It's a 3 liter diesel that makes 340hp/510lbft.
100HP on tap at 1500rpm, doubles at 2100 with nearly 0 spool time.
