For those who don't think the height of pickup trucks has gotten out of control.

Stock height on both.
>>
>>24196459
manlet moment
>>
>>24196465
You know you can hold a phone at multiple heights, and the best angle to show the height of the bed is even with it?
>>
>>24196465
>it is OK to have to lift shit higher and higher into the bed because fuck short guys lmao
>>
No higher than past 4x4s

The only difference is in the past 4x4 and 2wd had difference heights since the 2wd didn’t need the extra height.

Today with part commonality, safety regulations and fuel economy regulations all trucks need to be the same general height so that manufacturers don’t have to do double the tests for everything, and have two different sets of suspension components.
>>
What's the best fold away ladder to get into beds when the tailgate's down? Not even a manlet but I'm getting fatter and can't just make a giant step into truks like I used to.
>>
>>24196465
>comes stock with a step in the bumper so you can get to the bed and steps so you can get into the cab.

If the steps are down there, the bottom of the bed/cab could be down there.

this is a stock 1977 f250

A gym membership.
>>
>>
>>24196459
Why don't talll pickups have pop-down headlights?
>>
>>24196951
A stock tallboy, yes, but you don't see anyone claiming Power Wagons or Raptors as exemplary for modern pickup trucks either.
>>
>>24197322
A stock 1976 PowerWagon is about the same height as that tall boy

As mentioned a 2wd and a 4wd used to use to different suspensions with different heights.
Now everything uses the 4wd height.
>>
>>24196459
It really hasn’t, yeah vehicle are taller than they used to be but whatever, even with a 2 inch lift I can still fit in parking garages in a full size truck.
>>
>>24196478
Ground clearance height, no. Actual truck height, yes. Compared to '70s truck, the same model new is like standing next to a wall of truck.

>>24196951
First, those aren't stock tires. That truck would have been sold with the equivalent of a 235/75. Second, I'm gonna say that truck does have an aftermarket lift. Mine came from the factory with a lift and your pic is sitting higher off the wheels.

Highboys aren't really very high. But Ford gave the 4X4 F150s a 4" suspension lift compared to the 2wd trucks like your pic. This is my 100% stock '77 F150 on original-size tires. The difference is so big I wonder if the one in your pic has been lowered.

Yeah, I was born in '75 and there was nothing like that driving around when I was a kid. The claim that all trucks looked like this is hilarious
>>24196991
>>
>>24197405
>eah, I was born in '75 and there was nothing like that driving around when I was a kid.

Now that I don't buy. They didn't come that way stock but guys into the truck scene would put lifts and desert tires on their trucks just like guys today do.
>>
>>24197444
There was no truck scene. Trucks were for work.
>>
>>24197924
Wrong
>>
>>24197935
Sure, and I bet you think there was a donk scene in the 1950's.
>>
>>24197924
>No truck scene
>literally factory truck scene since truck scene was such a big thing
>>
>>24197949
>big
Nope.

Trying to start something isn't the same as it being already ever-present. Trucks were for work, not $80,000 penis analogues.

Pretending to be an oldfag only works if you get it right. I was a child in the mid '80s and stuff with lifted trucks going back to the early '70s was all over the place.
>>
>>24197972
Ahh that’s right those shitbox Civic enthusiasts are an illusion since Civics can’t cost $80k
>>
>>24197983
>off-road racing means a street scene.
Sure, I remember all those F1, Indy, and Nascar cars going by on the highway, too.

Trucks were for work, and they meant you were poor.
>>
>>24196459
That ground is steeply-sloped and fucking up the perspective.
>>
>>24198025
It's not. The bed is the same height as the roof of my car.
>>
>>24198007
You're an idiot. The 1970s were when a dedicated truck scene was starting. They weren't in every driveway like today, but getting an F150 in 1978 and slapping on a set of big desert tires on white wagon wheels and going off into the dunes wasn't unusual for people into that stuff.
>>
>>24198036
"Starting," is not, "Every truck is lifted wearing 33's"

99.9% of trucks were for poor people doing manual labor.
>>
>>24196683
You get a tailgate that folds all the way down and has a step in it.

How fuck thick and/or autistic are you? You said you never saw anything like that on the street. I'm saying they were on the street. Now you're backpedaling trying to say I meant every truck was a lifted brodozer. Fuck off with your forced memes.

>>
>>24198101
Yes? Both of those posts say lifted trucks existed within a subculture, not that they were in every driveway like you're pretending. Are you schizoposting on purpose?

i used to have an EG hatch that i lowered maybe 2". when i parked next to my co-workers new camry we basically reproduced that image, except his trunk was that trucks bed. even cars are fucking tall now
>>
>>24196474
lol little pussie if your not 6 5 your dont is matter at all looser gay
>>
>>24198234
I'm going to wager you're just bad at perspective. You probably noticed you were ~8 inches below his roof and so were closer to his trunk height, but you were probably still 4 inches above his trunk.
>>
>>24198074
The seats were terrible in those trucks. Like sitting on a bench with a layer of foam and cheap vinyl cover.
>>

It _IS_ a bench with a layer of foam and a cheap vinyl cover. I own one.

>>
>>24201215
Is that even taller?

There's nothing to give it a sense of scale. If those steelies are 13's then that's about right for a truck.
>>
>>24201221
No one makes cars with trailer wheels anymore
>>

This is what bothers me, I miss 2wd Japanese pickups riding so low, made it easy to load shit in the back since you don't have to lift it so fucking high off the ground
>>
>>24200613
I think I just threw up a little bit
>>
>>24201258
They were fun, too.
