please tell me this is a joke
tesla doesn't actually give you a wedding ring for your car
>>
>>24191609
Think its real, someone just took the guts out of the keycard and put it in a ring.
Not sure why you'd do that though when using your phone is way more convenient than the card.
>>
>>24191621
Wrong

>need to pull phone out if pocket at wave it at door then need to put the phone back in your pocket
>creates an unnecessary risk of dropping the phone

Or

>have your hands full
>need to bend over and wave your butt at the door to unlock it

The ring is much better
>
>>
>>24191609
no, it's aftermarket - they just take the transponder out of the OEM key card and put it in a ring
>>
>>24191680
I'd rather just have a key.

>Tesla fags on social media are STILL trying to make the "tap your car with the handle" before charging it a thing
>>
>>24191680
>t. never sat in a Tesla before
You just leave the phone in your pocket. It unlocks when you push the door handle as long as you have your phone on you. Car knows the phone is inside and starts as soon as you touch the brake pedal. Also auto locks as soon as your phone is about 20ft from the car.

If you use they keycard or this stupid ring you have to tap on the pillar to lock or unlock and tap in the center console to start it.

LOLOL
This is as retarded as people 100yrs ago who thought electric could leak out of the walls like invisible water. How the fuck would tapping an insulator on some body panel do shit? Do they understand how charge work/is developed? I don't need to "discharge" the "static" produced by my alternator before I fill up gas. Fuck, I need to see some of this shit
>>
>>24191952
>I don't need to "discharge" the "static" produced by my alternator before I fill up gas.
Uhhhh. Have you ever read a gas pump? First thing you're supposed to do is discharge static before pumping gas.
>>
>>24191913
>>24191904
Telsa fags make a big thing about how they load their cars. They tap the back of the car with the charging handle like a soldier would hit his helmet with a magazine during vietnam movies. Tescucks do this as often as possible and try so hard to look cool while doing it.
>>
>>24191960
Your car does not produce static, that is now how it works. They tell YOU to discharge YOUR static on your body before fucking with gas since you could get a charge from sliding your ass off the seat, which is pretty much a none existant issue. Static is just a charge waiting to reach equilibrium with something, electrical potential energy. Unless you spotaneously remove all your vehicle grounding points at once while it is running, you will never produce a static charge in a closed system. Anyway, these tesla fags think their car is producing static or some shit, even though it too is a closed system meating a double insulated closed system.

You don't have to press the phone against the door, that's just the key card. The phone just automatically unlocks the car if you're within a certain distance like how many modern keys work except more secure.

Weird I get zapped by my husbands car all the time so we got a grounding strap and now I don't get zapped. I have never driven an electric car though so I don't know if it's any different. My understanding was the electricity developed due to wind rubbing against the body of the car and when you get out you create a difference in charge/electrons whatever you wanna call it and they jump from you or the car to equalize.

>>
>>24192280
If you get zapped while entering it is most likely because you are carrying a charge and grounding to the car. Before you say "HURR BUT THE RUBBER TIRES" it doesn't matter, you are grounding relative to the car's closed system. It is still very unlikely and usually happens when exiting the vehicle due to the static of the seat. Also static on a car from wind will only happen if the air is full of shit like dust to exchange charges with.
>>
>>24191680
>pull phone out
Most people generally have it out already, or have it in a readily-accessible pocket. I don't know what you're doing that makes it such a hassle but you're definitely doing it wrong.

>unnecessary risk of dropping
Oh shit guess I should never use it then, since there's a chance I might drop it and break it. Moron. Just don't be a klutz. It's that easy.

>have your hands full
>need to bend over and wave your butt
No you don't. Slow your roll, set something down, and get your phone out of your pocket. It's not hard.

You're making up unrealistic situations and concerns. Even if you were carrying something so heavy or awkward you couldn't possibly set it down, how would you open your door then? If you don't have a hand available to grab your phone, you definitely don't have a hand available to open the car door, in which case you would bring another person along to solve that problem too. Quit being so helpless and woe-be-gone.
>>
>>24192280
>grounding strap
These don't do jack. You've changed something in your routine that results in you not getting shocked.

>electricity developed due to wind rubbing
No. Unless you live in the middle of a dust storm, you will never encounter such a thing. There's nothing to transmit or accept a charge unless there's a reasonably high concentration of dust in the air.

Wtf? My car just unlocks when I get close and locks itself after I step away from it. It also ignites without having to take out my keys. I could also use my phone to unlock it and start it up but then I have to hold it on the handle and place it in the charging tray, same with the keycard.

Works for the old-fashioned radio keys you get on older cars. Doesn't work with the phone key, part of the reason companies have started to move to them. More processing power, larger storage, more secure.

why do you need more processing power and larger storage for a literal key
are tesla owners more dense than the batteries used in their car?

It does just that.
Then people figured out how electric insulation worked, and it became a non issue, since earthed plugs became common for home usage. Same with static electricity.

The point is that currently you can get a phone, and use the phoneprotector as a wallet.
So if your "key" is a card, you can put it into the phone wallet and forget it exists.
As opposed to dedicated pockets in your favorite commute jacket.
