Yeah kinda. I mean that’s a very light awd 280bhp 3cyl cuckbox. I want one. I like small cars as my daily driver, preferably fast. I’ve had a dodge hellcat charger when it was new, have a ram 5500 cummins, Mini Cooper S, bunch of stuff. Nothing really does it for me other than small fast cars. So fun and practical.

Pretty much confirmed some sort of turbo hot hatch is coming to the US. My only gripe the is the corolla hatch already has a small boot compared to other hatches, so if they added in the AWD system it'll probably be even smaller. Maybe they'll just remove the spare if AWD gets added.
>>
>>23991469
>far more practical daily
Because you're carting numerous fat asses every day instead of just driving yourself to work and back? There's already a ton of "practical" cars on the market, especially when you consider the American ideal of "practical" is a 4-door pickup truck with a square bed. Heaven forbid you have to open the door for a passenger.

>>23991549
>>23991422
That thing is ugly, hopefully it's just a render.
I'm seeing the 6th and 1st of June as dates for news but I also keep getting search hits for some fucking hybrid version of the Corolla Sport instead.

>>23991661
The main point of interest for the GR Yaris is the 4WD system and being relatively light weight with a short wheelbase. A GR Corolla would just end up being a sorry attempt at being a Type R "competitor" if it ends up just having an afterthought awd and slapped on turbo.

The Jimny itself meets emissions but it was putting Suzuki over their fleet average CO2 targets

So you are saying that the 2.3 in Bronco puts out more emissions than the 2.3 in Focus ST and the 2.3 in Mustang, both cars that are sold here.
BTW, Jimny is back on the market. It´s called Suzuki Jimny LCV, a 2-seater registered as a van.

Any sense of superiority from Europeans is void now that new CO2 regs are in place. Literally nothing other than a base 1.0 golf can meet them. The new toyobaru isn't coming to Europe, neither is the new Nissan Z. For the Miata it's a question of time. Jimny is cancelled in EU for quite a while now. Hot hatches are all going to be discontinued and small cars are getting the axe too. Twingo cancelled by 2024, others will probably follow because there's no more profit in small cheap city cars. Everything else is going to be some shitty hybrid and the prices have already shot up like never before.

Mark my words, in like 20 years the EU will be the next Cuba, eternally fixing old cars from an age long gone.

there is a reason the entire hot hatch meme became a thing in the '80s/'90s and it becuse of cars that weigh absolutely nothing and are extremely enjoyable to drive while not being impractical
weight is everything desu. big hp is cool for bragging but I cant see pulls being more interesting than constantly riding the edge of traction in a tin can

>>
>>23995856
even the "fancy cars made of carbon" are still heavier than miatas and shitzukis. what you're basically describing is cope, people who can't afford the good stuff, convince themselves that economy cars pretending to be sports cars are the best there is.

I wonder why the 80s and 90s is remembered for cars like the 959 and F40 (weighing over 3000 lbs each) and not cars like the CRX. why isn't the CRX in the hall of fame for "Greatest cars of all time" ?

also BIkes can't turn, so they're pretty irrelevant. a nearly 2 ton Camaro can piss on some of the fastest bikes on the ring.
>>

>>
>>23995890
>why isn't the CRX in the hall of fame for "Greatest cars of all time" ?
becuse if you ask most people they remember shit like the crx, clios etc. but nobody is going to put normal cars on best of lists
that's a really childish argument to suggest that a car isnt good becuse it's not a halo car of a major manufacturer that will spend its life rotting in some sheikhs garage

cars dont have to be world leading to be good
>also bike cant turn
neither can a Camaro on the road if were being honest. drivers either dont have the stones or the car is uncomfortably large. what most people buy those for is the power and then the bikes are relevant

I'm not sure why you're so invested in trying to make the car seem bad when youd be hard pressed to find anyone who's driven one and doenst love it

not everything needs to be a supercar

>>23995938
>we don't have as many hatchback shitbox series, yes
you need some. they get wild as fuck
>>
>>23996083
>becuse if you ask most people they remember shit like the crx, clios etc
but nobody thinks they're the best shit to come out of Japan/France etc.
>but nobody is going to put normal cars on best of lists
sure they do, you can find Corvettes, and mustangs on "best of list" for example. those are normal cars that you see everyday. they're more normal than the CRX.
>suggest that a car isnt good'
no, i'm suggesting that they're nothing special, and they aren't. they were made to fill a gap for people who can't afford a real sports car and that's it. that's what people remember them for.
>cars dont have to be world leading to be good
but your suggestion is that cars have to be lightweight to be good, and that once you drive some miata or shitzuki you can't possibly go back to anything else. why the back pedel?
>neither can a Camaro
i guess those auto cross and track times happened because magic.
>drivers either dont have the stones or the car is uncomfortably large
You realize its easier to drive a larger car at high speeds than a lightweight tin can right? this is the entire philosophy of why the GTR weighs as much as it does. weight can add stability at high speeds, so yes, a Camaro driver would mop the floor with some squid with ease. the Camaro doesn't require a whole lot of effort to turn, a bike does. watch some reivews on the Camaro, or even watch motor trend's V6 Camaro vs M2. they outright state that the Camaro is so easy to drive its practically less fun than the more unwieldy M2.
>I'm not sure why you're so invested in trying to make the car seem bad
I love how you're the one taking the defensive position after you just said "AMERICANS WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW UNIQUE AND SPECIAL ECONOMY CARS ARE EVEN THOUGH EVERYONE HAS DRIVEN ONE T_T" and "ONE YOU GO MIATA OR ECONOMY YOU CAN"T GO BACK!!!"
you're the one who was making them out to be something other worldly.

It actually might. It's a substantially different variant of the engine, based on the Focus RS block but reworked for light trucks, and it's designed specifically for the NA market so it may not have the same global emissions equipment the car versions do.
