Which oil should I put in my 300+k AU Falcon?Currently has the factory recommended 10W30 oil, and it's leaking. The maximum recommended viscosity via the SCA parts finder is 15W40, however they sell a specific "high mileage" oil which is 15W50. (Both Castrol). So which should I use, the 40 or 50?
Should probably just get the oil leak fixed
>>23226557Yeah by using heavier oil
>>23226471Where is it leaking from? Being an au it will probably be a cheap fix, they usually leak from the oil pressure switch above the oil filter
>>23226658I don't know and I couldn't be bothered to find out and fix it, all I know is it wasn't leaking before I changed the oil when I bought it, so I figured changing back to a heavier grade will fix it.
>>23226471just put in 20w50>>23226663they may have added the stop leak crap which is just super thick oil that they put in to stop it from leaking so they can sell the car and get rid of it>I couldn't be botheredstupid bogan buying a car from another stupid bogan.... Lol
>>23226700>stupid bogan buying a car from another stupid bogan
don't listen to these retards, use what the factory recommends so the 10w30they recommend it for a reason
>>23226471whatever the fucking manufacturer recommends you fucking humungous idiot
>>23226471Good choice of car m8
boys im buying my first car and WA allows p platers to have turbos or v8sive got a VX commie wagon atm and im gonna run it into the ground, shits lasted so long but i want something newi live rural and work in the wine industry so i want a ute for tip runs and shit.budget of like 8ki really have nobody to talk about this shit to since everyone in my family are chicks and at work its just the same talk of nissan engines are best and subies are good

>>23227213Fix the leak bogan
>>23227226how about i fix ur mums vagina leak by blocking it with my penis?
I use a mix 15-50
>>23227213Heavier oil wont fix the leak dumbass
>>23226471Penrite or Nulon 40w70, It'll absolutely fix that leak anon!
>>23227351Yes it will retard
>>23226471just get a barrel of raw crude & pour it straight in oh and don't forget to put some in the gas tank 50-50 mix gasoline/raw crude
Fuck you guys I'm gonna use the high mileage stuff
>>23227558Fix the fucking leak bogan
>>23227585It's only a little drip
>>23227591It wont make a difference. Going 10w30 to 20w50 isnt gonna stop a leak
>>23227759So why didn't it leak before I did my initial oil change?
>>23227763Because it wasnt leaking
>>23227763Because the old owner used that nulon stop leak shit, which is a super high weight oil that you add to existing engine oil to make it thiqqer.FIX THE LEAK BOGAN
>>23226471I had a tickford fairmont i put in w50 oils, as cars age and have kilos put on them, the clearences between bearings and metal surfances widen, which makes heavier weight oil more appropriate. If you go to repco, sca, autobarn etc and use the touchscreen ipads to select your vehicle they will always recommend you a big heavier than the manuals spec, because the car is 20 years oid now
>>23227229It's bigger than a pinhole leak, though.
>>23227083Are you me?Idk i was gonna go a ve v8 or fg xr6tTurbo easier to get power out of on a budgetholden will handle better and sound maybe better
>>23227083XC ute with Fairmont GXL front end and a 351 with 302 heads running straight gas
>>23232220Really tough choice. If i could choose anything (realistic), the latter made VZ got the 6.0, and I'd want to Whipple supercharge it. I'd probably go the ve for a daily, touring car, tow car, i'd buy a Ba xrt6 for half the price to actually 'drive' tho.
>>23227083any hilux before 2006
Fuck the leak, get rims asap idiot
>>23232413>$20,000+ for a KZN165 with 350,000kmFuck that, go for a 4M40 MK Triton. Get a better car and spend less. Win/win.
