How can you attempt to attribute a political ideology to someone based on historical skepticism? And before you say "It's the most documented genocide in history!", I'll just let you know that there are 0 (zero) German documents or intercepted communications (Even though they never knew we broke their code) that back up the genocide narrative. And before you say "They destroyed them all!", keep in mind we have documents on human experimentation (including on children), the hollow earth, vril1, and heinous war crimes committed. But not a single one on the genocide. The Soviets went out of their way to falsify information to back up the genocide story. The allies tortured officers into making false confessions. Yes, there are people who hung for crimes they admitted to that we now freely admit never happened. If you go to the Holocaust museum today you'll still find a discredit poorly made video showing a "gas chamber". Where a photo of a vehicle was painted (unphotorealistically) to show the exhaust mating with a building. And there is no parallax in the shot, it's a camera panning over a photo. Then footage of some naked malnourished men in a building with no roof. The narration claims that they were gassed there that day by that car.I'm not saying you want to be a second class citizen in a country.I'm not saying you want to be rounded up into camps, have your possessions seized, and be forced remigrate.I'm not saying there wasn't mistreatment and murder going on.I am saying there was never an official order to genocide the Jews.I am saying less than 4 million Jews died at Auschwitz.

I'm loosely considering buying a corvair from a family friend. My only car is a truck and it'd be nice to have a car that got decent fuel economy. The idea of driving around a classic car seems nice. It'd primarily be used for flat level highway cruising aside from one massive hill I have to climb regularly. My considerations are the car has a 2 speed auto trans which I can only imagine will give awful fuel economy and the car is in somewhat rough shape and hasn't run in a few years. Any advice or anecdotes on what I can expect from a corvair
Ive always wanted a classic american car. ive been driving 80s japanese cars for the last 4 years. pic related. I was looking at either a chevy nova 69-72 or a ford maverick any of the years. I like the small coupe style of these two which would you take and why? also been looking for a 240z but those are really uncommon in my area so I wouldnt be able to get one unless I found a great deal.
>>23231995Honestly the corvair is probably not going to be super fuel efficient. Looking at numbers from real cars people are averaging 15-19mpg.
>>23231627No, it drives pretty well. Im just changing the amount of rake. The rear is still several inches below the front.

>>23232785That figure was taken from a site where multiple independent people were reporting their average gas mileage, not a single car. Older carbureted engines aren't very efficient.
>>23232785>>23235410https://www.fuelly.com/car/chevrolet/corvairGranted it's not a large sample size, but even with a light coupe I wouldn't expect better than low to mid 20s highway. Bought this guy for $2000 (16v twin cam 1988 944S) not running and sitting under a tree on Sunday. Previous owner didn't know what was wrong with it and had bought it from another guy who also didn't know what was wrong with it and it sat in a garage for a year. Got it running the same day and found out it was just fouled injectors, HUGE vacuum leaks (multiple parts of the vacuum system totally disconnected from each other) and bad plugs.Still got a leaky non-working sunroof (bad relay), badly peeling engine paint, and seized front right caliper but it's all easy stuff to fix. Got a new battery and $200 in replacement hoses/seals/gaskets coming and flushed the oil and coolant systems. Also found a set of brembo front calipers for $150 on eBay.I was expecting a blown head gasket or stuck valves but it actually runs better than my tuned up modified 944S (1987).I should start buying these things up, fixing them and shoving them in a heated garage for the inevitable day when the Japanese market is completely dried up. Still want a 80s quattro tho.
>>23239020What are you gonna do to the motor?
>>23235416Any cheap ways to get the fuel economy up on these things? I'm being offered $500 for a corvair that had nothing wrong with it when it was parked. If I could get into the 30s for mpg I'd be sold. It's a 68 and I love the way it looks. Anything is an improvement over about 14mpg with the truck though. If not I'll probably just get a used civic
>>23240205Well I have a lot of other things to sort, but I dunno. You can't really make power with the Slant 4. 150hp maxish? Maybe Ill put on a real set of SU's?
>>23240483You may be able to get the carbs running a bit leaner? Tune the things for economy instead of performance? But welcome to dieseling hell.
>>23240483>>23240851Lean means hot, on an air cooled engine that will kill it. If you put fuel injection on it and have it tuned it should do a little better, but at the end of the day it's an old carbureted 6 cylinder. Also keep in mind that those averages don't specify highway vs in town miles, or how heavy the driver's foot was. But if you want something fuel efficient, cheap, and reliable just get a Honda or Toyota from the early 2000s. It will probably be better than the truck but it's still a car from the 60s.
>>23240831Forget SUs, put a set of webers on it, and if you do that headers and exhaust so it can flow out as well as in. I'd probably get the head reworked, and do a cam as well. Maybe shave it a little to raise compression, then it should drive a lot better.
>>23241678>on an air cooled engine that will kill it.Fuck fair>>23241703SUs are perfect throughI am looking into exhaust/headers just so I can pull the smog pumpMy parts guy might have a used one he mentioned still on the cheap
>>23241860You can fine tune a weber better than an SU, if they're both set up as best they can be a properly sized weber will give more crisp throttle response and better power. It all depends on what else you do to the engine. I would put in oversized pistons, port and polish the head, cam it, do heavy high rev springs, and put headers on it. With all that work it's going to flow much better and could take advantage of a pair of webers. If you're going to leave it stock the SUs will work fine and be easier to tune. Also there's a company in Ohio that sells performance parts for your car you know.http://www.tsimportedautomotive.com/tr7_tr8.html
>>23241914I just won't get that involved(probably)and oh trust me I know
Shut the fuck up faggot.
>>23240483You could get an O2 sensor gauge and regularly make sure it's tuned properly, fuel injection could do this for you but it's very expensive. If you want a cool car, go for it idk how many miles you drive but 6mpg might make a big difference, if you want something really fuel efficient, go with the Civic.
>>23241937Light cars with extra power are pretty fun
>>23242937Im sure but I just want to enjoy it for a bit and get to fixing up the various broken bits and learn about wrenching more before I dive into the engine.Though>10-15% gain on average from porting the heads
>>2324322410-15% gains are only small on shitty british cars on the other hand porting heads isn't that hard though just match to the gaskets. Probably not worth doing until you have some other reason to take apart engine like blown head gasket
>>23243252Whoops thought this was about the tr7 still applies though
>>23243252Well did (((shave))) the intake down a bit to match the gasket when the intake was off. And yeah bong car castings are so shit gains at least on the porting front are nice
>>23243271The head should be pretty easy to remove. Buy the carbs and exhaust first to bolt on and drive but get a cam when you have the extra money, they're only $145. When you have that and a little more saved up and you've driven it a bit and know the motor is good, pull the head. If you want to save some cash you can get someone to take the valves out, then do the porting yourself, there's probably information online. Then take it back to have them do a 3 angle valve job and clean and reassemble the head. You might also find a way to get the valves out at home to save more money. If you have the cash you can just get a machine shop to do everything. If you do it that way you can spread it out while you still fix the little things that it needs as well.
>>23243252>porting heads isn't that hard though just match to the gasketsUh, no. Gasket-matching has ruined a lot of heads. What you're after is matching the size and location of the intake and head ports which is a different matter. See, what you get when you gasket match is a port that goes narrow-wide-narrow, or, more properly small volume-large volume-small volume. That larger volume area causes the air to slow down and, in the case of carbureted engines, for the fuel to fall out of suspension.
>>23243378Not them but I'm fixing to build a motor with my bro. He does it for a living but I've been trying to understand enough so he doesn't sound like he's speaking Chinese trying to teach me. Where would one look into intake velocity more in detail? Perhaps even something that talks about tuning the intake. Also, I'll be using a Holley efi, is it less critical with fuel injection as far as fuel suspension?
>>23243410I'd just Google it and see what you can find
>>23243410Well, you wouldn't have to worry about fuel with a multiparty but a change in volume will affect pulse tuning of the intake charge. As for study, a good start would be anything written by David Vizard.
>>23243876Google is amazing for ultra specific things like how do I reset my oil light 08 ranger or some shit, and ultra broad understandings like how does a 2 stroke work. >>23245525So you don't post your car in a car thread, get mad at someone doing things that are involving cars, and don't want anyone to post.hmmmmmmmmm
>>23245567No I just dont spam the thread with needless small talk and blogging which is why its shit now
>>23245574It's always been a blog thread you newfag, that was the point of it.
>>23245581The point of it was to post your classic cars before a bunch of literal fags and fag enablers such as yourself killed it and all the good trips migrated to discord and eightchan. That's why theres only the retards left here like you and coastie
>>23245607so post your car bitch boy.
>>23245607Weird... And yet you're still here.

>>23246084I'm really wondering if the discord thing is legit. I know it was laughed at every time some namefag brought it up
>>23246260None of the OGs cared about discord
>>23245671I have. And I do, but theres no reason to post it today when the thread is just Gay Peopel General and nobody knows anything about working on classic cars. Literally non of you left in here know anything. >>23246327 you're not an OG so you wouldn't know lol, seriously why do you think we all left you fags behind
>>23246576And yet you're still posting here....

Like I said you're not an OG which is partially why you werent invited to the new group, and also you dont even own a classic. You're just here because like the other fags you dont get any attention in your real life
>>23246890Lmao? i disappear for months and i'm seeking attention?? You anons are really fucking rarted. >also you dont even own a classicKeep trying.

>>23247024>>23247017Jesus! Will y'all just fuck and get it over with?? Either both of you post your cars or STFU. /Ccg/ is dead, anyone who was entertaining has left and all we're left with is twinky mcfaggot trying to flirt with lm7, and some anon who is beating a dead horse! Even coastie doesn't frequent here anymore it's that dead!
>>23247047>Everyone left. So, the retard who did the OP; is the sideways pic some sort of boomer joke, or are you guys actually this inept?
>>23247039Dracs wife had a kid, Cutlass is probably dead, Camaroguy is buying a house or oversteered into a wall, Luxy is building a shed to fuck his doll in peace, Coastie got shot in a drive-by, and who the hell knows what happened to Shitkat. LM7 at least is still working on something.
>>23247052I bet twink looks just like Swede twink from the meme. lm7 just needs to go breed his bussy, that should shut him up for a bit

>income restored soon>except i need to move out of the city>huge deposits required everywherewell i guess i wont be doing much on this car for a little while longeris it worth putting up with roomates if you get a fuckload of spendable income compared to getting your own place? Privacy is great but so is like, double the spending money you'd get otherwise for car parts
>>23247081I just come here to troll now, I obviously dont post like this in the new /ccg/ duh lmao dumbass

>>23247141You'll never see it lol that the point dummy
>>23247146No, he always took it to shops desu, he might have put LEDs on it or something but nothing major.
>>23247154This last year he's made progress. Even if he does take it to shops, stuff is still getting done. Kitkats truck never fucking changed.
>>23247153Cuz it doesn't exist
>>23247164Taking it to shops is literally not doing shit yourself
>>23247164No i meant kkk always took it to shops.
>>23247170Didn't /ccg/ start off for classic car enthusiast? Not gatekeeping mechanics? Someone who owns and drives a classic > someone who appreciates classics > boomer who refuses for drive it > bench racing no car fags
Its official, anon ran off Drac. Way to go, ruining /ccg/ cause you're a prissy little fag.

>>23223191So I have a 1984 Caprice Classic with one tiny annoyance: The high beams only work on one side. Like, I click the switch, the low beam turns off on the driver side and the high beam comes on, but the passenger side the low beam just remains on.Also, when the headlights are on the right blinker indicator comes on and the front right marker lamp doesn't come on, but I'm somewhat assuming it's some low-tech way of telling me the part of the marker lamp that does parking lights is out.
>>23247539Get a wiring diagram and just clean the connectors for those lights
>>23247136down towards mountain view, within some small commute distance of moffett air field i'm noticing randos like to garage park their cars, when they don't work on them in there, and probably don't care about the paint condition. i don't get it.this means lots of places with 2 car garages are really 1 spot in a 2 car
Jesus fucking Christ what a shitshow this has turned into. Post your fucking headlights.
>>23247621Not a classic
So, real talk, twink does post too much. It's not necessarily the blog posting, he just has nothing to add a lot of the time and posts anyway. Always. And the "look at me, I'm gay!" posting. I don't dislike the guy but man, it's over kill.As far as this place going to shit, I spoke with another tripfag off site and confirmed my suspicion I had for about a year, there is in fact a mod that is part of the anon group that hated all the tripfags in this thread. Abusing his power to remove posts and make threats. Some butthurt little bitch that gets triggered over silicone and site functions that were built in since day one (ie tripcodes). Now that all the tripfags left because this thread is dog shit, between the twink posting, coastie's abject fucking mental deficiency, and all the butthurt anons, now they cry about how it's dead. Whatever. Is what it is. Little bitches are gonna cry about shit and throw a tantrum, destroy the thread, and then complain how it's shit. Neck yourself, fucking retard.
>>23247630It's 30 years old. Fuck off.
>>23247567But what would cause the low beam not to turn off when the high beams are engaged? To my understanding they aren't relay controlled, so if one is engaging they both should be, or is this some sort of safety mechanism telling me the high beam is burned out?
>>23247636informative and completely based post
>>23247677You know nobody likes you, right? You're like the guy in a friend's group that orbits around the outside, trying too hard to belong, but nobody actually likes you being there but they put up with it because you just show up.
>>23247753Man, what a salty cunt you are. You know nobody likes you, right? You're like the guy in a friend's group that shows up, and makes everybody else disperse because of how fucking disgusting their personality is.
>>23247762Guy, you're just a white knight. You know nobody likes you, right? You're like the guy in a friend's group that is constantly telling everyone not to say something because it could hurt someone's feelings and offend them. Nobody wants you there to randomly defend them like they're a victim.
>pissant anons gets their wish of getting various trips to leave ccg>ccg immediately diesgrats, happy?
>>23247872How salty and weak a faggot you must be to try to kill a formerly comfy /ccg/ thread. (You) aren't worth my time. Happy Thanksgiving, nigger. We'll continue to post despite your... objections.
>>23247875>We did it anon! We ran out the tripfags and saved /ccg/!
>>23247888My friend had a Bronco II, it was pretty okayish. I liked the body style.
>>23247957I have a bit of respect for anything bearing the Bronco nameplate, but I've heard enough bad things about the Bronco II to not like them. The Bronco was built on an F-150 platform, where the Bronco II was built on the Ranger platform. I have heard that they are EXTREMELY tippy. I'd never take my truck to do donuts, but the Bronco II seems to have been even more prone to roll-overs. Slimmer wheelbase, plus a higher center of gravity. Seems it was built to tip over for any reason. My truck feels solid, but even still I'd be concerned about it tipping in certain circumstances. Plus, the Bronco II never came with a V8. RIP.
>>23247991My dad had a bronco II as his "first" car. >Spoiler alert, it was a shiney PoS that broke down all the time. One of the first dates with my mom, it crapped out and they had to walk 5 miles back to his house. On another date they were going up a drainage ditch for some reason and it tipped back onto the tailgate and slid down before falling on its side. Luckily it was all mud so no damage.
>>23248032That... sounds about right for a Bronco II. Even though my Bronco is an enormous turd that needs a bunch of work, I still feel way more secure in it than I would in a perfect condition Bronco II. It's essentially just an F-150 with a different body. Mechanically, it's dead simple, and I can repair literally anything on it with some sockets and a decent wrench. Mind, mine needs a new engine built and dropped in at some point, but even with 0 oil pressure at hot idle, the thing keeps kicking along. Hardly gives a fuck. Love this old bastard.
>>23248073Well the B2 is based off the old ranger which everyone swears is bullet proof; but that didn't stop it from constantly breaking down and even eating a brand new exhaust set up. My dad just has terrible luck with american vehicles - he next bought a 93 cherokee brand new and sold it with less than 70k miles cause it spent more time at the dealership/mechanic than driving it. Blew to trannies, rear main shit the bed 4 times, ac stopped working twice, both diff blew up, and a crap ton of other issues. >Inb4 drove it like a tardHe's the kind that waxes and washes a car every weekend, oil change at 2500 miles, and a tune up every 5k. He kept a tacoma looking and driving like it came off the show room floor for nearly 20 years and 300k miles till some bitch rear ended it at 50mph.
>>23248121I mean, my Bronco was built in '89, and lived in Jew York for appx 25 years before I got ahold of it. There's a fuckton of body rust, and a bunch of other assorted things that need fixed. But despite that, it's still pretty reliable. Yes, I have to build a new engine for it, costing roughly $5k to do it up exactly as I want it, but if you don't want to do the shit I want to, it could be done for less than 1k. For what it's worth, and as far as I can tell, it's always cheaper to keep an older vehicle running and roughly reliable than it is to put that money into a more modern vehicle. If you drop $4-500/mo on a new vehicle, you could easily drop that into an older vehicle and wind up with something that is 100% reliable. I know exactly where my truck is at, and how much I will have to spend to make it as reliable as it was when it rolled off the factory floor. Even after that, still way cheaper to keep it at that level compared to a new car.
>>23247875A general propped up by various undesirables reeeing about women and minorities wasn’t exactly “alive”.
>>23247875mE r amoneynoose!Honestly I never got the hate for people using tripcodes. It literally doesn't effect you.
Ranchero guy here. This is fine, right?>take cover off - cool clean water pours out along with peanut butter sludge>right side wheel bearing is trashed>both axle seals are gone>pinion has no preload, in fact ~1/16" of axial play>carrier bearings have no preload as well, races scored on the outside, pitted deeply on the inside>runout is huge, ~.020>pinion seal surface has one of those repair sleeves installed over itAll this, but the gear surfaces seem alright, save for a bit of pitting.Think this was just a very badly done rebuild and never used enough for it to destroy itself.
>>23248788Hate was initially directed mostly at the blatantly off topic rants lux and drac would go on. That and coastie’s incompetence, he’s not a literal trip but he’s a psuedotrip
>>23248985Oh, yep, I'm familiar with those names.
Jesus Christ. It's like fucking high school in here. Why in the hell anybody gives Anon the slightest bit of attention, let alone any of the shit that's gone on itt, is completely baffling.
>>23248967>runoutbacklash, my badPinion teeth condition, very deeply pitted, however barely broken in. I would expect way more damage considering how badly these bearings were installed.
>>23225163>Oofgb2reddit, this is car board
>>23249035you need a new gearset to go with your master overhaul kit. sorry.
>>23248159Rust issues? On a bronco? Nonsense!I got an 88. Kick panels rotted, floor on drivers ide, and two spots in the rear by the tail gait which was also rotted... Also the inner fenders were fucked as well as where they get spot welded. Over covid I've been slamming away at it though. All fixed just gotta hang the quarters and inner fender wells. I can't wait for it to be over man
Thoughts on these rims? Nothing fancy, I know
>>23248967>backlash is huge, ~.020Someone tried to turn that Ford into a Dodge, eh?
>driving home after thanksgiving>gas pedal goes limp suddenly>coast into 7-11>throttle cable snapped somehow>attatch the remaining length of cable back to the pedal with a hose clamp and some wizardry>cable is way too short now>idle at 2500 rpm all the way homefuckin lokar
>>23248967I'm not saying that is good, the condition of the gears or the backlash. I would in no way advise this to be an acceptable job for a professional, but...(there's always a but)...I am however saying I have slapped a lot worse back together on my own shit boxes and shipped them down the road with no issues aside from a little gear noise. With all the hackery I've done over the years to save money, in my opinion you could absolutely clean it out, add fresh oil, and run that. You can't run on it forever but it'll get you a good ways down the road.
>>23251176lol ghetto fabulous
time for a 3g swap
>>23251358>those clean ass parts >on a bed >yea you dont work on cars. How much is the actual mechanic charging you?

>>23251499I'll make at least 200 hp with these.

>>23253751looks neat. didn't know they had front hinge hood. is that ignition oem?
There is a totaled 60s oldsmobile delta 88 sitting down the road from my dad's place out in the country. Damned if I know who id belongs to, but it's been there for as long as I can remember.Front end is totally smashed in, but I was looking under the hood and there is a pretty nice looking super rocket v8 under there. It's definitely untouched since whatever accident befell that poor land boat, and the radiator wasn't forced into the pulleys.Anyone have experience with one of these? Just thinking about 425 cubic inches is fucking arousing. I'm tempted to figure out who owns it just so I can get my hands on that engine.pic is off google
Getting 14.2 volts on the battery. I'm finally charging. I robbed the harness from a 94 F150 with the 5.0. I merely have to bypass the ammeter
