Series of carjackings take place in Manhattan within 1 hour span

MANHATTAN, New York (WABC) -- Three car jackings took place within an hour of each other in Manhattan Wednesday.

Police say the first incident took place just before 4:30 p.m. in Midtown.

They say a suspect wearing a ski mask and all black clothing took out a taser and stole a vehicle at 54th Street and Broadway.

The vehicle was recovered, but the suspect fled on foot into the Columbus Circle A/C line subway station.

An officer suffered a minor injury in the incident and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The man suspected of murdering a 19-year-old Burger King employee earlier this week ranted about social justice and demanded reparations as police officers escorted him out of an East Harlem police station.

Winston Glynn, 30, is accused of murdering 19-year-old Burger King employee Kristal Bayron-Nieves during a robbery in the early hours of Sunday morning.

As officers led Glynn out of the police station into a police vehicle, video captured Glynn shouting social justice slogans at an angry crowd who gathered outside the station.

“Where’s our reparations for four hundred years of f***ing slavery,” Glynn shouted. The surrounding crowd lambasted Glynn as he was escorted into the police vehicle.

“Basura,” one onlooker shouted at Glynn, using the Spanish word for “garbage.” “She gave you the money, man. Why?” asked an individual from the crowd.

Glynn allegedly stole $100 from the cash register before gunning down Bayron-Nieves.

“F**k you all,” Glynn yelled back at the crowd. Then, before officers placed him in the vehicle, Glynn shouted, “America is gonna burn!”

Glynn has been charged with murder, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of robbery. He reportedly has seven prior arrests in New York City.

Recently sworn-in mayor Eric Adams commended the arresting authorities who “understood that Kristal wasn’t just a number.” “They operated in a professional manner and brought this killer to justice,” Adams said.

Authorities caught Glynn by matching a belt worn from the crime video to a photo he posted on Instagram.

A deranged homeless man allegedly shoved an Asian woman to her death in front of an oncoming subway train Saturday morning in Times Square, police and sources told The Post.

The horrifying episode unfolded at around 9:40 a.m. when the unidentified woman was struck by a southbound R train at the Times Square station on West 42nd Street and Broadway, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The attack appeared entirely random, with the man just walking up to the woman and pushing her, sources said.

The 40-year-old victim was with two other women when she was pushed, a police source said.

A man walked into a transit precinct on Canal Street and confessed, sources said.

He was identified as Martial Simon, 61, with no known address according to law enforcement sources.
Senior sucker-punched by stranger in unprovoked Brooklyn attack: video

A 79-year-old man with a cane was walloped by a complete stranger driving a moped during an unprovoked Brooklyn attack caught on video.

A blind elderly man with a cane was walloped in Brooklyn by a stranger on a moped in an alarming and unprovoked attack caught on video, police said Saturday.

Ralph Belgrove, 79, was chatting with a friend on Fourth Ave. near Carroll St. in Park Slope about 12 p.m. Friday when suspect Disheem Riley rolled down the bike lane on a moped, surveillance video recovered by police shows.

Riley, 29, parked the moped and quietly walked over to Belgrove, looking around as he approached the unsuspecting senior, police said.

Belgrove didn’t notice the stranger until Riley reeled back and sucker-punched him in the face hard enough to knock him to the sidewalk, the video shows.

“Next thing I know, I’m on the ground,” Belgrove said.

No words were exchanged — “nothing at all,” Belgrove told the Daily News. “Just, whack!”

Belgrove’s friend walked toward Riley — but before he could confront him, he made a U-turn on his bike and zipped away.

Belgrove suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene, cops said

“My elbow took most of the blow. I took a couple of Tylenols and went to bed,” he recounted.

Belgrove said he’d never seen his attacker before and had no interaction with him before the attack.
The family of Times Square subway-shove victim Michelle Go broke their silence Monday, saying they are “in a state of shock” after she was randomly pushed in front of a train and killed.

“We are in a state of shock and grieving the loss of our daughter, sister, and friend,” the family said in a tweet shared by ABC-News.

“We hope Michelle will be remembered for how she lived and not just how she died,” her kin said. “She was a beautiful, brilliant, kind and intelligent woman, who loved her family and friends, loved to travel the world and to help others.

“Her life was taken too soon in a senseless act of violence, and we pray that she gets the justice she deserves,” it said. “Thank you for your condolences.”

Go, 40, was waiting for an R train at the Times Square station around 9:40 a.m. Saturday when police said Martial Simon, a deranged homeless ex-con, came up behind her and shoved her into the path of the train, killing her.

Michelle’s Go’s distraught family spoke on the shocking attack.

Simon, whose family said suffers from schizophrenia, turned himself in to cops on Canal Street minutes later and is now facing murder charges.

A local Asian group, Asians Fighting Injustice, has scheduled a candlelight vigil for Go in Times Square at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
