How do you become an air traffic controller? How do you start? What do you need? It is worth it? What's the job and salary like?
why do all those things when you could just pretending to be one on /n/?
>>1958614>How do you become an air traffic controller? you go to course>How do you start? see above. keep in mind maybe 1 in 20 people who start the course finish it, it's difficult>What do you need? you need good english if that's not your first language, also great spatial orientation and quick but thoughtful reactions. you also need the ability to google basic stuff before asking on chinese basket weaving forum, so maybe it's not really for you?>It is worth it? that depends, I think you need to like it>What's the job and salary like?salary is great, because the job is hard. you work like 2 hours, then an hour of rest, then another 2 hours and so on. if you somehow end up at a small airfield with less traffic it's much easier and more comfy.
>>1958637>salary is greataviation humor always flies over my head
>>1958640is it really so bad in burgerland? here in yurop ATCs are among the best paid 'standard' employees (non managers or business owners), then again here in yurop we also use proper radio communication and 'cleared to land' actually means you're cleared to land so there you go
>>1958646I don't know I'm just going on what I see on indeed and glassdoor. actual pigs make more than that and their training is ez-pz. you actually get denied a job if you apply to the pig department and your IQ is too high (above 80)
>>1958640Fake. I was told air traffic controllers make between 100k -120k per year.
these days just be a retarded minority/woman and you get insta hired
>>1958709They do, that screen cap is retarded. The AVERAGE salary in the top ten states starts at $130k and the top (New Hampshire) make $150k a year.
>>1958640well today you (hopefully) learned that not everything you read on the internet is true
>>1958640That's starting, it only goes up from there.
>>1958640it's fake, look at USAjobs.govtry to find out the next time they open up the application window; it should be sometime in may>t. applied to be an ATC this summer and am waiting to schedule medical and psych tests as part of the hiring process
The process takes forever. You apply, take the aptitude test, wait on results, get a tentative offer, wait months for progress, do a long background check process, hopefully you pass that, get an offer for academy, wait for that, go to academy, hopefully you pass, go to facility, hope it isn't shit, and then hope you certify and don't wash. Honestly it's a long process, and I'm still not done. Going back to OKC for radar training to work tracon at my up/down. The good part is that my facility is cake, but the slow traffic makes it a difficult environment to learn. I knew zero about aviation and here I am. A real human should never do this job with today's technology. This career, especially tower, is fucking nuts when you have a lot going on. The public would shit their pants if they saw how much things rely on some faggot saying the correct thing or some faggot telling the faggot briefing them about everything. Luckily pilots have windows lol.
>>1958614like many medium well paying jobs you have to be willing to relocate to where the openings are. Doesn't work for majority of people.
>>1958614They make a lot of money but the suicide rate in the profession is one of the highest in the world. Unbelievable hours and levels of stress.
Just remember you don't get to choose where you work, they tell you where you will be working and you now get to live and work there. You can ASK to be located somewhere specific, but they will often ignore that.
>>1958614>How do you become an air traffic controller? Are you a transgender nigger with an overinflated sense of self-worth, and a penchant for dressing up as a wolf?Do you speak a bizarre patois of English known as "ebonics"?Does your idea of a "working lunch" involve gay sex and crack cocaine?Fantastic! The FAA has immediate openings for people of your "caliber".
>>1961043Take your meds.
Why not be a pilot instead?
>>1961062Doesn't matter if you can wear glasses. You only need good eyes for a fighter pilot
>>1958614Are you white? Because you won't get a slot if you are
>>1958614You have to get super lucky
>>1958640>>1958709>>1958921Tracon at busy places, and all en route makes over 110k a yearGround control and towers in boring places can make 40-60k a year sometimes
>>1958614apply for it on usajobs.hovbe able to talk and think quickly, and be able to do mathhave a college degree, or promotions at workhave a veteran preferencepass the course down in OKC, and then get checked out at a tower or center after 18-24 months of pracrcet. former ATC
Why would anyone want a job where you go to prison whenever you fuck up
