There's room for lower too by upgrading all the aluminum bits to carbon, especially in the wheels, but I'm not a stickler for weight and need reliability over performance. Only the fork and levers are carbon and the saddle is a heavy but comfy kind. Wind is the bigger problem here anyways

why you use flats with a fixie? I understand needing to walk for deliveries and whatnot, but these days there are shoes that look 100% normal while having a SPD cleat recessed below.

Poverty.
>>
>>1914236
I've rode with flats and Chucks since I was a kid, anything else feels weird, clipless and even straps on flats. I've had SPDs before but I didn't like them and gave them to a friend. The only thing that beats the comfort of Chucks is sandles.

That doesn't sound attractive if your commute is only 8 km round trip and you're there off-bike for 8 hours, much less if you need to look at least business-casual. If you're doing more mileage and have less off-bike time I could see the benefits.

Picrel is my spontaneous conversion to clipless pedals.

Have you tried any other hidden clipless shoes like that? Was thinking of buying the velosambas a while ago. I wear these right now.

Velosambas are more comfortable walking, but less stiff riding. Pick your poison.
>>
>>1914257
I understand you, but when I was commuting by bike, I'd carry my shoes in my backpack and change when I got there, since they'd get dirty and wet anyway. So I used a black MTB shoe like
>>1914258 and changed to a business shoe when I got to the office's garage.
>>
>>1914256
Why are clipless people always trying to push their shit on flat riders.

Bitch I don't want gay special biking shoes I don't care about my "attachment to the bike" or "pulling up on the pedals" I got enough shit in my life let alone a shoes specifically for riding my bike

Everyone uses their own preferred pedals. Weighing bikes is a universal measure, kind of, and the pedals can throw off the comparisons. If you want to buy a bike and want to know its weight you will want to know it without the pedals. It’s common practice.

OP did a terrible job on the thread, even though it's a great isea and could be extremely interesting and informative, instead what we have is a load of bullshit claims.

OP should have established some simple rules, for example photo of bike on scales, also that it should be ridden weight, so including obvious things like pedals but also anything else attached to the bike when ridden like bottle cages and racks.

You can buy cheap hanger scales for under $10, of course like everything you get what you pay for, so f you want reliable and accurate readings you really should invest in something a bit better.

Now maybe we can start over, /n/ threads tend to hang around for many months even unbumped, so plenty of time to go out get yourself a set of scales, weigh your bikes, take a pic and post them here. Then we might actually see something worth clicking on.

i havnt built a fixie yet but when i do im using modern mtb pedals like that
if they can hold my feet on while rattling a rigid 26er over rough shit then im sure i can skid with them just fine lol
clips are a meme and straps are outdated

i probably have the heaviest bike here but i dont like taking pictures of it because its ugly and havnt weighed it
its a complete mess of a 29er hardtail i bought for £30 and put a bunch of chinese crap and a rear rack on
lightweightness is a meme but this thing actually sucks its cumbersome as fuck
i dont know what brand it is because one of the previous owners painted it but i dont think its anything fancy and the fork alone probably weighs more than some of the bikes itt

They're called minivelos. The main thing is that the frames are way stiffer and feel less "noodley", especially the handlebars/headset. On prolonged descents in particular, extended stems feel like they're going to snap. Minivelos can also be made to take a frame-mounted front basket, which is really nice.

But yeah otherwise it's kind of a gimmick bike lol.

purchase a lot of bikes and make them all the same, then find a boat of known buoyancy and throw bikes into the boat until it sinks, then use the buoyancy to determine total weight of all the bikes and divide by the number in the boat to find the single bike weight
