I hate Chargers so much
>>1912424I think it's generational. Zoomers and millennials seem to love them but everyone older thinks they're ugly as sin
>>1912424Just looked it up. Apparently they are based on the Vectrons, which are equally fugly if not more.
>>1912401Wrong.
>>1912455
>dude just slap a car grille on there
Modern Japanese trains suck shit outside of perhaps JR Kyushu.
>>1912986I like the way those lookUgliest train in Japan is easy though
>>1912983>>1912986>white LED digital screens holy soulless
>>1912990Nah these arent that bad at all. They also look cool in red.I do hate anything by Ken Okuyama genuinly SOVLLESS. But ugliest train is pic related. And yes the lips actually move.
>>1912401I fucking hate the Øresundstog. It's a fucking stain on all of København.
The UAC TurboTrain is pretty ugly. It was an early Canadian attempt at high speed rail int he 1960s. They sucked, so the Canadians stopped using them but Amtrack kept using them into the 1980s. They were gas turbine engines and could hit a top speed of 274 km/h.
>>1913017I think those look cool
The Austerities were hideous. The inside bits were on the outside like Continental locos and everything was angular like it'd been cut out with tinsnips.>>1913017That's beautiful anon I don't know what you're talking about.
>>1913352i don't mind the austeries, they're simple but have fairly clean lines compared to something like the yanks' attempt at the same concept
>>1913530Looks functional>>1913352Looks like a Hornby toy
>>1913017This one is nice af
Why the T insists on such fuck ugly ass designs for everything now is beyond me. Even worse that they're Chinese CRRC garbage and are already causing issues. The Red Line cars are just as ugly. The Green line type 9s are meh but they type 10 mockup is also eurotrash tier.
The most ugly tram in Poland
>>1912401 >
Amateurs.
the ugliest commuter train
>>1912983This thing has a demon face
>>1915056Huh. I thought the 'corrugated metal box' look was one of those US-only things
>>1914810AMATEURS
>>1915056For me "meleca" is that thing that comes out of the nose.
>>1912983oh cool an Aston Martin train. i had no idea. now that they're under chinese ownership they're making all kinds of weird shit i guess.
>>1913017was that the train that leaned in turns in at attempt to achieve high speed rail speeds on non-high speed rails?
>>1916496Yeah. One of the first trains on the continent to do that.
behold
>Replace f40s with this blubous thingOne of the many crimes the MBTA has waged against us.
>>1918035This thing's worse
>>1912424>>1912455>>1912983>>1912986>>1913017>>1913720>>1913723Can someone post what they consider a good looking train next to what they consider to be ugly?None of these look bad to me.
>>1918157Glad you askedThe Vectron is a really out of place locomotive where I live. I'm not sure if it's the concave nose, the fake looking/weird grills or the puke-coloured colour scheme courtesy of the GYSEV railway company. Here's a non exhaustive list of locos that I see often:MÁV V43MÁV V63MÁV M41MÁV M62Stadler KISSStadler FLIRTSiemens TRAXXSiemens Taurus (this one even sings when it's starting to move)
>>1918160that explains a lot, thank you for being so informative
>>1918157This is an E60, an electric sadboi. Originally designed to haul coal in Arizona, assumed by an Amtrak executive to be speedy as well as powerful. Its windows project worry, well-warranted by the rock-throwing youths of New Jersey. It is a solid brick of misery. What makes it beauitful is that it never half-asses anything. It's either trying, or not trying. The shape isn't box-like, it's a box. The colors aren't subtle, this is a 100% American train, Red, Blue, and Chrome colored. It is not trying to win over customers, it is trying to take them to work with some level of pride. Now look back at the Charger. >>1912424Everything is half-assed. The front curve comes to a dead-stop like a circumcision. The sides are punctured with massive, uneven vents but painted solid white like we're supposed to ignore them. The text is a mashup of state logos and titles in swooshing script, punctuated by the single no-nonsense AMTRAK. The train number is tucked away into corners like the thought of a big number would ruin their "aesthetic". For some unknown reason the engine has no reversability, and no streamlining to justify it except for a bizarre, botched plastic surgery of a passenger car directly behind it. That car was mutilated to justify this thing not having the rear cab that the european version has!The eyes are drawn nowhere but to its flaws. It calls too much attention to a shape that is too short and is clearly embarrassed by its mechanical necessities, like a fat dude in a t-shirt at the pool. The E60 is the 300 lb New Jersey man shirtless on his balcony in 1976, one hand gripped tight around a beer can and cigarette, the other pointing threateningly at the kids making too much racket in his alley below. He yields to no one. God bless him.
>>1918259Based E60 Chad. You just convinced me to buy an HO Scale model with my next check. not sure on which brand to go for. so far only finding bachmann models.
>>1918157for me the MBTA just seems to be moving away from decent design in general. see >>1918035 pic related is another example. the Type 8s were the beginning of the end. the type 9s look plastic and cheap and the type 10 "supercar" LRV concept just looks souless.
>>1918275pic related is what's being replaced by >>1913720. again, it just LOOKs cheap as fuck, both inside and out. at least the Blue Line's new Siemens cars LOOK like the old Hawker-Siddeleys.
>>1918279Blue Line Old vs. New. a rare instance of the T not going back asswards.
>>1913720look british
>boxes are LE GOOD>curves are LE BAD
>>1912541What was ÖBB thinking?
Apparently Talgo exclusively hire blind people as designers.
>>1918643And you can't even get the range of their ugliness in a single shot because the 8 operates only in the US and the 350 operates only in Europe, so they're both struck by the Talgo curse, just in mutually exclusive ways.
On the topic of duck bill ugly, I think there are a bunch of really unsightly Shinkansens as well. The 0, 100, 200, 300, 400 are all great, the 500 is downright sexy, the 800 and the different 700s are generally fine too, but then half the E-Series just goes ham on the bill. The E1 through E3 are fine, E7/W7 is fine, but E4 is ugly, E5/H5 is ugly, E6 is ugly, E8 is ugly. They're all fucking ugly and I don't understand why they can't look more like the 500 or 700 when all their top speeds are similar anyway. Nips, you don't need this stupid fucking duck bill and a super stretched cockpit section that takes up half a car just to go like 320 kph.
>>1918644I love ducks.
>>1918647I like ducks as well, I just prefer my bullet trains being bullet trains, not duck trains.
>>1918154It gives me that soviet vibe
>>1918643It looks like a mail truck
>>1918643Like if you took the windshield off the new oneand slapped it on the engine bay of the old one
>>1918646>Nips, you don't need this stupid fucking duck bill and a super stretched cockpit section that takes up half a car just to go like 320 kph.The whole point of the duck bill is to reduce the boom when traversing tunnels.
>>1918646I think those are ugly too
>>1918643This locomotive would've been perfect if only they had used a bulldog nose for the front
>>1918511This, but unironically
>>1913017Didn't know picrel had an even uglier older brother
