Bikes or Scooters?
>>1835505well if I can only choose between the shitty rental versions of these things I'll go bike
Personal bike > e-scooter > bikeshare > push scooter
>>1835505scooters are for kids to barrel downhill in neighbourhood, not for transportation.
>>1835583>X is for Y, not for Z because it just is okay?
>>1835593exactly
I'll walk if it's rideshare
Scooter is the vaping of 20s
>>1835583who said so? Reddit?
>>1835593s-scooters are not for kids guise, it just is okay!?
Man it's almost as if they're for anyone with a body that can use them and are not to be determined by people's huge gay egos
Anyone got serious recommendations for the best e-scooters to buy from Amazon/Walmart?
>>1835735if you're poor buy a gotrax or segway. If you're rich don't buy from Amazon

>>1836182>Suicidal tendenciesI mean, it's not wrong.
>>1835505I'm starting to think that kick scooters might be even better than bicycles.Kick scooters take up almost no space on a sidewalk, their handlebars are very narrow, so even if they're not allowed on sidewalks a lot of jurisdictions don't care. Some places even forbid you from riding skateboards and scooters in the streets, they mandate you use the sidewalks. Times are definitely changing from when skateboards were banned on 99% of all sidewalks nationwide. What I like about kick scooters is they're cheap and effective. A good one will be $50 to $250 max, and the better companies like Razor / Goped / Xootr all have a robust parts catalog so you can repair them. So your cost to entry is low, and the longevity of the platform should be huge. Now, I acknowledge that kick scooters are not suitable for super long distance travel, that's a given. But anything between 3 to 5 miles is pretty effortless, and larger trips are definitely possible. I do 11 miles on my Razor pretty easily, and the terrain is very hilly, lots of 3% grades.Do you guys remember that article that made the rounds on the internet? "A man who walks 17 miles to and from work has been gifted a bike and is now studying to get his driver's license after receiving $26,000 in donations to buy a car."I bet you a whole dollar that poor bastard's new bicycle gets stolen. And I bet you another whole dollar that his car gets impounded after he fails to pay registration fees, insurance, etc. For his situation I don't think either a bicycle or a car are the right options. He's obviously poor as fuck. I think a kick scooter would have made the most sense for him. I average 6mph in hilly terrain on my kick scooter. The dude from the article lives in Oklahoma. All the articles show the whole area to be flat as fuck. He should easily be able to manage 10mph+ on a kick scooter on the sidewalks. So the 8.5 mile ride into work would only take 50 minutes or so.
if we are talking skys the limit and you can order online. scooters are way faster and have way longer range per dollar. an ebike is more convenient for long range transportation and cargo but a scooter is just gonna have so much more performance (until you get to 15kw ebikes), and also is going to be more portable. both have their uses and honestly if I was going car free I'd have a scooter for short trips and fun and a cargo ebike for other uses.
>>1836228Fucking lol, this whole post and the rest of your weird scooter shilling over this board. You’re dedicated, man. Incredibly stupid/optimistic but dedicated. I love it. I hope you get into personal balloon transport or something next. I support you.
>>1836276he has a point but he is completely insane for commuting for so long on a POS razor. the future is chinese shit you order online that has dual suspension, lights, and does 70km/h with a 100km range.
Rode 3 hours yesterday on my laotie scooter with a VESC controller. Smoothest shit ever it's spectacular when I don't want to use my motorc
>>1836182Wtf is the silly tricks scooter? It doesn't have wheels
>>1836228>What I like about kick scooters is they're cheap and effective. If by effective you mean slow as balls. Try inline skates if you're not afraid of a good learning curve. >The dude from the article lives in Oklahoma. All the articles show the whole area to be flat as fuck. I'm Oklahoman. It's flat but the roads are anything but. One of those scooters with the little bike tires would work.. as much a scooter can. Which brings me back to pointing out that it's slow as shit.
>>1836277I'd rather 20 km/h for 200km
>>1836182>>1837041Second. What is it? How could it possibly be mobile?
>>1837041>>1837133>Second. What is it? How could it possibly be mobile?with the power of autism of coursehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkoTen3ZhjM
>>1837149All of these tricks and all skateboard tricks look damn near the same. I would just put all my effort into jumping high as shit and doing a kickflip so well that it looks like I pulled the deck to my feet with magic, but I fucking suck lmao.
>>1837071>slow as ballshe is talking about electric kick sooters, which, outside of the trash you get at costco or rent, can be extremely fast.
