What's up with Boeing these days?
so was there any actual danger here?
apparently this happened in the netherlands today toohttps://twitter.com/meraklihavaci/status/1363179519885119492
Seems like Boeing is looking into the pod racing business.
>>1612583Neva Kee FTWSo t seems the FADEC continued to try and operate despite the pilots wishes? Also, fire suppression seems to fail if it was even deployed at all?
777 is statistically the safest bird in the skies. I'm not going to defend the MAX but this aircraft comes from a different time in the companies' history when it was run by white people who cared.
>>1612573Tbh I dont think Boeing is responsible for an engine grenading itselfThe question is what caused it not to be contained

>>1612580I’m going to try and strike a balance between informative and cutting out extraneous information here.Any transport category airplane operated by a western nation is certified to safely operate away from any terrain along the planned route. In addition they’re certified to safely climb away from an engine failure after a predetermined go/no-go speed on the takeoff roll. As long as the engine failure is contained (this one was as the fire was successfully combated by the aircraft’s systems and there was no catastrophic to the fuselage or the superstructure of the wing) then the airplane should perform as advertised. In short, with a competent crew and serviceable airframe (not engine, as this thread would have you believe) this jet was perfectly safe if in an emergency situation.
would rather fly on two engines like that versus flying on anything made in china

>>1612580Not really. Whats the ETOPS on a 777? If its fine for it to lose an engine in the middle of the ocean then its fine for it to lose an engine a few miles from an airport.

>>1612941maybe im missing something here but is it really possible to control the plane at all if the other side does not have a working engine?
