>>1599312>saddle low bar highCongratulations making a comfort bike out of that hybrid abomination
>>1599328>> hybrid abominationwhy?the saddle is just right for me, im a short little dude (1,65) and if I rise the saddle any more i can't pedal right.my knee is hurting right now, right knee, right on the superior right part of the knee cap.but why is it an hybrid abomination? ;(
>>1599334That bike is too big for you.
>>1598919Megatower? All the SC frames are hard to tell apart.Been riding my RAAW Madonna V2 since the start of the pandemic. Good time to buy a new bike since they're like hen's teeth now.
>>1599346its a 15 inch frame 29er, isn't that the smaller size?am i too short to use a 29er? :(i do prefer a 26 inch wheel bike but i couldn't afford one, and this one was a gift and the only one i have.
I need an ass saver
>>1599356no, you need proper full fendersand a proper bottle ffs
>>1599372I maxxed out the tyre clearance, unfortunately. I lose bottles pretty frequently so it has become more economically viable to use whatever there is lying around.
>>1599353You need an XS gravel bike with 650B wheels. That fuckhuge neck with the telescope is at least three sizes bigger than your saddle height
>>1599393>>1599353Also if the gravel and wheel change is too expensive for you, look for a 26'' 90s MTB in smaller sizes, fix it up, put on better wheels, gropuset etc...
>>1599356>>1599372SKS Germany SpeedrockerHave one, easy to put up and take down, looks great
>>1599393>>1599394alright, that might take some time to pull out, but i will keep my eyes out for used ones.but anon, sry for asking so much but what will be the issue if i keep riding this bike? i have it for about 3 months know, and aside from the knee injury it is being a nice bike.

>>1599409yes but, i thought knee issues were related to the saddle, i have mine well adjusted, i mean, it is confortable to pedal and i used that "pedal with your heel" trick to set it right.could the different frame be hurting my knee?should i stop riding this bike?if thats the case i will try to sell or trade this one on 26 inch smaller frame, im sure it wont be long since these 29er are popular around here
R8 my fredsled. Now with carbon rimz. Also bontrager a shit>>1598906>>1598907Digging it, reminds me of my 86 Miyata
>>1599445jesus christ that's an ugly bike. Early Di2 is fucking hideous. The black and white just purely clashes. The shapes of the frame like that swoopy clunk-boy esque line of the tubes from the top tube to the seat stays and then the distinct angular brutal head tube looks so fucking bad on the same bike. You even put fucking aerobars on it. and you got carbon rims but poorfag tires? lmao I think to turn it around you should get some more TREK stickers and some multi colours of reflective tape all over it. And put your skewer on the right side.

>>1599536>triggeredWhat? I find it charming almost how ugly it is. It's not offensive. Just my comment on it. Isn't that what people want when they post stuff online? >Yous?
>>1599538nothing wrong with conti tires as a whole, it's just that ultrasports are cheap shit and it's surprising to see them on an expensive bike since good tires should be at the top of your priorities>>1599441if your knee issues have gone away after adjusting the saddle, you'll be fine. a bike too big for you will mean your reach is too long (as in you have to stretch to grab the bars) and it won't be as nimble as it could be, but for chill city riding that shouldn't be an issue at all,I still think you should go check out your local bike shop and try out some bikes that actually fit you, feels good man

>>1599508I'm a little worried because of my knee, it does not seem to be related to the bike, but im not sure, and i can't trust the bike shops here for a bike fix because they suck really really hard, the more i learn about bike repair the more i feel scammed by those fuckers, and i already tried 3 different shops here, the first two were scammers, charging 20 bucks for a puncture, which was caused by a spoke going to deep on the rim, and them charging more 20 bucks the other day, to fix the same puncture, without fixing the spoke. ( was just starting cycling at this point, and had no idea how any of that worked), or fixing a derailleur that got mangled with the spokes on the second day riding the bike, for which they simply said "not my problem, wanna buy another one?".>>1599545im worried about the knee, i don't fell uncomfortable on my back or my arms, it is only the knee, but i do firmly believe that my saddle is well adjusted.I'm really sad for not being able to ride like i used too, i can still make a confy ride around town, but anything more than a 15km long ride and it starts to hurt rather bad.there is a smaller bike here at my home, it belongs to my dad but im sure he would let me try it out, gonna try and see if i can fell any difference.ty a lot for the answers bros i know this is not the thread for this but yeah, im really sad because of this all, a little afraid i won't be able to ride the way i like anymore, went for a ride yesterday night, only 18 km and when i got back home it was hard to walk my bike to its little stand.
>>1599602anon knee injury is a tricky thing and takes a long time to recover. It's also going to be nearly impossible to gauge whether any fit changes you make are helpful or not when you're doing so with an injured knee which will likely be exasperated by any sort of riding, good fit or not. I know this sucks to hear, but you should probably lay off it for like a month.
>>1599605im only having a daily ride of about 5km, taking my gf home since she gets out of work late and has to go around a wooded, i did try to make a longer ride yesterday but the pain started again.im going to stop having these longer rides, and tell my gf to take the bus home for a bit, really hurts my heart to let she go alone, and to be unable to ride.
>>1599582Why are the tires so smooth? Isn't that dangerous for when there is a little of water on the road?
>>1598906Too poor for such luxury as a bike

>>1599348> radial calipersBit overkill for a bicycle don't you think?

>>1599839Radial or axial mount refers to the mounting screws parallel to the force applied on the brake pads (or the travel line of the cylinders) or perpendicular.
This one's been doing the work over the past couple of weeks. Old photo but it's the same save for the front wheel and bigger chainrings. Comprehensive tyre destruction x lack of time means that there's a deep 'un up front as well. Short bike x deep rims means fun in crosswinds though the worst is being passed by a lorry in a tunnel. Never a dull moment huh?>>1598906That's an (sorry) nice bike. The "dork disk" looks cool on this bike, neat.>>1598919Clean.>>1599084Mountain bikes? >>1599737>>1599839>>1599890This.I guess they *might* flex less and give better feel but they're considered gimmicky on even 200kg road motorcycles
>>1599602Are you clipped in my knee bugged me with spd cleats went to high float speedplay then resolved completely going back to flats. It makes exactly zero difference to your power despite the bleating of the lycra boyz
>>1599968i agree with thisif you have knee issues and can't afford/have fit/physio advise, revert to flat pedals clipless is great but it can cause problems.
>>1599842What saddle. I have a great bike buy taint pain is the one thing preventing me from riding literally every chance I get. That bike looks like it gets similar use to mine.>>1599844Looks dope but I know nothing about mtb>>1599898Yea that's just cool. It's got a goofy professional look yo it, it's serious but doesn't take itself serious >>1599908Looks like a fun ride but those handlebars bother me. Cute.>>1599941Straightforward, good.I haven't ridden this lately, I'm considering putting moustache bars. Since I've out the new fork on I treat it like a beater since it's kinda ugly and not as smooth as it was before. I'm imagining a short stem, solve moustache, same drop lever brakes, and silver friction barends. Whatdoyathink
This is my bike.
>>1599979nice bike, shame about the fork and pedals.sell it on to someone that will appreciate if you don't ?
In america bikes are only for the rich
>>1599990I'm not sure it'll be worth selling, it's literally been crashed. It'd serve me more utility as a beater than the $100 I'd get for selling it.
>>1599807Merino baselayer (socks, longjohns, longsleeve top), merino hoodie as a middle layer, warm lined mtb pants and jacket as a shell layer, another pair of thick wool socks inside warm winter shoes, liner gloves (synthetic, not merino! *gasp*) inside leather mitts, merino neck gaiter, merino cap under the helmet.>>1599898>The thinking person's ride -- too deep for me.Heh. That's really clever :)>How did it get there and leave no tracks?Snowfall and drifts. Parked it leaning against a snow berm in the morning and that is how it looked in the evening.
>>1599951I don't think I've ever seen any dick brakes mounted perpendicularly on a bicycle. They're all radially mounted. I've never even considered any other way to do it. Why do it in a worse way when the better way is the standard?
>>1599898>Never a dull moment huh? It's never dull on the edge of life. Is the Ti Panasonic with flames also your ride? Really similar setups and both really nice Ti/DA/Tubular builds.>small print: don't put anything on this unless you're happy with it smacking you in the mush. Bottled beer is not recommended.lol truth, was hauling a 24 case of bottled beer, almost crushed my mush and nearly broke my wrist
>>1599985Cool paint job p.us squirrel killers. Is that a cross bike of some sort? Comfystack!Ive had to stop putting my polar 23oz on the back holder bc my calf leg hair brushes ever so slightly against the bottle and it drives me nuts
>>1599985It's actually a race/road bike. Bought her used from the local shop.Trek 2.1, 2009 model. So it's nothing custom.Yeah the bottle drives me nuts but I'm getting better at keeping it from brushing against my leg.
>>1599968i have never used clipless pedals.i think now my issue was with the shoe i was using. it was a running shoe and when i look at it, it feels like my foot is tilted to the side a bit, gonna try to go barefoot or with another shoe and see if this fixes my issues
>>1600114Yeah you want a good stiff sole I use harsh Costco runners I would never run in, soft runners give me foot pain on long rides
Contend SL 1, had it coming up on 4 years nowGradually changed from mostly 105 5800 to R7000Recently put some Hunt 4 Seasons on it (24/28 spoke count, extra nipple sealing etc)It's a decent winter workhorse at this point but still a decent summer bike at 8.5kg (alu)
>>1600138How do you like the wheels looked at them now and again
>>1600143Only ridden them once so far, but they feel pretty nice. I only have experience with near-2kg stock wheelsets previously though, like Giant PR2s and Mavic Askiums. These are like 1600g so coming from those was always gonna feel like an upgrade. Couldn't find any similar wheels meant purely for winter durability so that was what drew me to them
>>1599979It's a Brooks Team Pro range Alpe d’Huez. Its seen a good 10 years of heavy usage, still comfy as ever.
>>1599591not him but OPyes i ride with a back pack. I like having no rack when i dont need one
>>1599910Thanks, probably my favourite bike to ride on trails due to its simplicity and how it makes familiar trails challenging.
>>1599939sorry about that tiny chain ring you got there
>>1599908cool combo of retro frame and new components.>>1600138How are the Hunt wheels? heard a lot of good about them.>>1599898awesome wheelset. >>1600178got conti 5000 tubeless on da whip nowSupposed to race soon idk what’s going on
>>1599692A bicycle is a luxury for you? Bro you can buy an used bicycle for like 80-100$ or even less.
>>1599842Do you have enough grip with those tires to ride on mud roads?
>>1600166That Peugeot is cherry!
>>1600186Just about. I have a pretty loose riding style anyway, hence the flat pedals. Grip was noticeably better when the tires were new. Can get pretty squirrelly in muddy sections but I enjoy the sensation.
>>1599979that new fork looks great dude. Better than stock maybe. Even though it's unicrown.sure try upright bars. but i wouldn't limit it to moustache bar ones. other comfy cruiser type bars are great. Go to a bike kitchen type place and try score some nicer canti levers and thumbies. Those are common takeoff parts and will work well with what you have. Look on aliexpress for bars. Aliexpress sells lots of decent velo-orange ripoffs. Aluminium bars typically are better. You could do big riser swoopyboys and keep your stem even, just shim it to 25.4and yeah, your road levers will -work- on anything with enough of a curve to put them on. Put if you go really high you'll probably want to recable anyway so in which case why not swap to flat bar levers? Better ergonomics. I'm not a huge fan of moustaches. I don't see them as superior to drops. You could just as well simply put on a technomic stem instead of that. I think it's a good idea in general to try old road bikes with cruiser controls, even if you change back after a bit. You'll have your fun. It's not expensive if you go used parts and aliexpress instead of like nitto and VO and stuff. And consider just leaving the downtube shifters. If it's a cruiser you don't need to shift much. Makes it easier to go back.
>>1599848kona unit? They're sick. I'd love one one day. >>1600138hell yea pink bartape >>1600166most of those are real fucken nice. peugeot doesn't do it for me. the bartape clashes. should be yellow or white. and the tall stem + trad racing drops with steep ramps clash functionally and visually too. and the shit brake pads make the wheels look cheap and the functional plastic/nylon cages/straps look cheap too. there's a space in the corner for a grocerygetter with a rack and basket lol you could move the pug in that direction. i fail to see when you'd ride it. It's not beater-tier but it's also not really coffee shop flex tier.
>>1600226These are the posts I need to hear, good vibes. I really like the bars you posted, gives me an art-deco angle vibe. I already have a moustache bar bike in the works so I think cruiser bars would be worth the experience. And I'll be moving to a city soon, and I think the miyata will end up seeing the most use just cuz its fast and simple. I also plan on donating a lot of time to bike shares, so I'll source parts from there when the time comes. But for now, you have been great inspiration. I didn't say it but the downtube shifters are staying until they break (never) [they just work so well].>>1600153your bike looks even better with bags>>1600178>>1600179I really like these fast as fuck bikes. they are great looking, high tech bikes but they keep it tasteful. I think its down to keeping only using around 4 main colors overall. Although I'm sorry to say it (>>1600178), but that rear disc wheel clashes. Everything is so sharp and classy, but also fun with that fat cat sticker. But the rear wheel looks corny, like the designs they put on kids athletic clothes. It would look better if it wasn't like an optical illusion or if it had more broader lines (just an aesthetic opinion, I don't race at all)
>>1600166I don't mean to bully, but the first 5 bikes look like they could be condensed to 2 unique bikes, and the last 2 hard tails look like the same bikes
>>1600229That's right, 2016 Kona unit. Before they went +size tires/ more bike packing orientated.
Fuck it, here's my fully aswell. Purple double-banger hope brakes are as sexy as you think they are.
>>1600257Every Commencal i have ridden has been uncomfortably long. Change my opinion.
>>1600269I disagree, but size preference varies so much for individuals. Personally I wouldn't change a thing. This is an XL. I had owned a L meta previously that was massively small. I'm 6'2". I dont ride this bike much. Mostly for dirt jumps and gnarlier DH.
just did 60km to buy a gold chain on the other side of the city
>>1600289Gold chain for yor neck or the KMC gold bike chain? Nice moser...an early mail order bike company.>>1600270I would think every MTB xl would be made to fit someone 6ft 2. Your fit sounds right.>>1600178Paging Cormy
Picked this up as a project. Definitely needs new pedals, bar tape, and hoods.I'm probably going to change out the stem, and I haven't ridden it enough yet to decide if I like the saddle or not.
>>1600617>cantilever dropouts>alloy forkspooky
>>1600619I have to die at some point in my life.I don't plan on riding the absolute shit out of this bike. It should probably hold together just fine, but I'll still keep an eye on it.
rate my wife
Are new bikes allowed? Still getting used to the drop bars but otherwise the bike is perfect.Put on the saddle from my old bike and going to replace the bar tape. Stock one feels too spongy like those cheap foam grips on flat bars
>>1600617fuck that's cool
>>1600650this looks really damn nice to ride and yeah dude i hate the feel of that kinda bartape too
>>1600650please downshift before you stop, it's upsetting me. you'll have a really hard time starting off in that gear and it's totally avoidable (in b4 "t. leglet")and I have the same tape you're talking about, it feels horrible but I literally can't find any other stuff that isn't outright overpriced. so I got some gloves instead, it's cold anyway.
>>1600650Why no go with full fenders if you have the appropriate eyelets? It would be much more robust and the extra work to uninstall them for Summer isn't much.
>>1600667It is real damn nice, the stock tires are supple, grip is very good as well and rolls nicely on tarmac. Saddle is B17 imperial, fits the bike and my ass well. Sora groupset does everything I need and in todays market it is easier to source brake cables than the right fluid and bleeding kit for hydros, not to mention good quality tubing. Might switch to GRX but only after the market situation dies down but that will take a couple years at least. Distributors and LBS are closing down one after the other.
>>1600674I put it in biggiesmalls for the picture, don't worry mate.>>1600675This kind of set is new, better clearance for mud and more aero than MTB paddles. And is much easier on the paintjob. Does its job, is light and looks good.
>>1600650>>1600667My brothers Cannondale came with some really thick soft bartape. I quite liked the feel of it.
>>1600680I personally find its velvet like surface finish offputting, it is slippery and I'm always fighting for holding a grip.
>>1599979 Thanks, Hello Kitty bidons are great for deflecting seriousness, It's recently been joined by a goofy "mikan chan" water bottle. An advantage of frames made with old guff like tubes is that they look good with deep wheels. They look good with middle depth wheels, hell, they look good with wheels. >> 1600045Thanks, your post indicates that /n/ is an oasis of calm in the turbulent 4chanverse.>>1600073 Thank you. Rumbled, there's an element of same bike syndrome but that's only skin deep and they are both very different to ride (surprisingly so given the number of common and shared components). I built the De Rosa in June of last year expecting that it would become the tool of choice for hills. Not so, the Panasonic is slightly heavier but its more relaxed ride means that I use it mostly in the hills which is not what I expected. Off the hills, on "time trial" like bits the De Rosa is a monster, heads down, no nonsense, mindless boogie. They both get used about equally.>>1600166 Thanks. The DA wheels are nice. The hubs are a work of genius, simple cup and cone with a "positive lock" washer. A clean and overhaul takes about ten minutes and needs nothing beyond a couple of Allen keys. Tubulars are a PITA but the "get off my lawn" is strong with them. I'm fortunate in that the local roads are fairly good so punctures are infrequent. Thing is, when I get one it's usually a doozie that damages the carcass enough that the tyre's a write off. The front (in the photo) clipped a, a something on the road a couple of weeks back. It stayed inflated until I got home but there was a noticeable bulge in the sidewall. It's a goner. PITA? Well, sitting on the balcony in the summer with a tub of glue that's big enough for the whole band. some strong beer and some tyres to fit... Can't be beat. (Unless you have too much beer and wind up with glue in the hair and stuff like that.)
>>1600675>uninstall them for SummerI don't understand
>>1600257All purple anodized bits? I'm here for this.
Still waiting on my friend to come through with his old crank bros eggbeaters, but here’s my brand new Crux.
>>1600665It's probably going to be less cool after I swap out all of the white bits. The hoods were absolutely gross and destroyed. Someone actually wrapped the tape around the hoods. I can only find new replacements in black. I don't feel like doing white bar tape unless I have matching brake hoods.I also found out this is supposed to have a 105 groupset but someone swapped everything with RX100 at some point. That isn't exactly a huge deal, everything works fine from what I can tell.
>>1600833Hmmm you could do all black but pink bar ends and finishing tape
>>1600837I actually have some pink tape on the way, if it turns out to be too much pink then I'll probably go with your suggestion.
>>1600872Are those the old timey 28" ones that are bigger than todays 29ers?Otherwise nice bike, would ride but not too keen on the bartape color. With that frame color I would've gone with black tape, maybe brown leather to match the saddle
>>1600872Gorgeous, I love the chrome accents and fork tips. Handlebar tape is fine in my opinion, but it's all personal taste.
>>1600872Is that a deer in the background?
>>1600833yeah i saw that lol. personally i would go black tape. i wouldn't do any pink matchey accents. and i like pink tape on a lot of bikes.
>>1600872lol nice bottle bdsm rig
>>1600885its a fake one
>>1600934Black tape would look good if I didn't have a black stem and bars.Eventually I'll get a silver stem that fits the aesthetic of the bike a lot better and I'll probably pick up a different set of bars then too. But for now I might as well use the pink tape since I already bought it.
>>1602619WIP>>1602618You went left field with those cyan grips. But you look at that bike and can tell "he rides"
>>1602643WIP refers to my bike, not >>1602619
>>1600138Really like it.Why did you change from 105 5800 to R7000? Doesn't seem to be much difference from my point of view.

>>1603253nice, loved those lakeside roads
>>1603236this is just scary vibe>>1603240this has beautiful colour/texture to it, but the railing is too prominent in the frame and the bicycle as a subject is not enough. buy some of these anonthey come with cables and wrap your bars all the way upand take driveside photos of bikes
>>1603255what? lol no those dont work on my bike, I have original shimano brakes , not changing shit
>>1603255not wrapping my entire bar by any sort of the imagination, I wear gloves dont need the entire bar cover.
>>1603269they work fine , they have new springs, new cables, new pads . I did 500km of mountain road on January with that shitty bike, zero problems
>>1603266>those dont work on my bikewhat you mean technically or aesthetically?they're -relatively- similar aesthetically to the brake levers that just a higher tier of shogun would have been specced with back in that era. Back in the day, cheap bikes got bare metal levers with suicide flat bar extensions, and nicer road bikes got levers with rubber hoods. It's an ergonomic thing.
>>1603277what? mommy? ok autist just saying , Im not a faggot and i had restore the bike to work properly. Don't care about new faggotry for a bike that works
>>1603266really something like this with non-aero (under the tape) cable routing and gum/white hoods would be closest but it's more expensive, less comfortable and personally i think those basic shimano levers are retro enough. Also, how old do you reckon your bike is anyway?
>>1603280It's not that it's bad or it doesn't work, but that you can improve the ergonomics and make the bike more pleasant and comfortable to ride (and therefor more able to ride long distances). I'd say what you have now is more fine if you're just beating around on it but you say you rode 500km in a month? it's also confusing. You say you upgraded the pads, but i see cheap shit pads in the back, and oldschool square blocks in the front?
i mean hell by the 80s they did have aero cable routing (under the tape)I would guess that -is- an 80s bike, so it's period correct. It's the kind of upgrade someone might have done -back then-
and gum/white hoods look do look cool, but they're also a pro thing. Those people change their shit out frequently. White/gum get dirty/degrade quicker than black rubber. It's like how pros have white tape as a statement about how clean/fresh their bikes are.
>>1603290can you shut the fuck up and stop being rude>>1603280>new faggotryit's period-ish correct, just an actual upgrade to one of the few things that matter (contact points/ergonomics)
>>1603290lol, go ride your new plastic bike retard
>>1603285pads are the same front and back , some shimano tiagra shit. Cheap pads but the originals were square yeah.
>>1603285in a month? lol no I was beer touring and doing mountain roads , did not ride every day, but I did 500 in a spent of 7 days while drinking beer and fucking around. Comfy as fuck
>>1603298the fact you find it comfy as fuck isn't a reason not to make it comfier as fuck
I still have a 2010 Kona honky tonk that I used to commute on, but now just use for kayaking trips. I put airless polymer Tannus knock-off tyres on it so I don't have to carry a pump or spare tubes around, so it's "ready to go whenever" instead of fast or comfortable.Bike goes in the back of the ute around 10-15km down to a spot on the river. I leave the ute there and ride the bike back. Kayak goes in the river behind my house and I'll paddle about 30km back to the ute. Kayak goes on the ute, drive home. It's good fun!
>>1603299im not riding on this one over those mountains or any other mountains again, thats for sure. I had no place to put shit on it and I had everything on my back. bad decisions
>>1603316sure, you faggot

>>1603279>>1603277>>1603283>>1603285what the fuck is wrong with you faggots?>upgrade those brake levers I don't like themlol no I like the ones I have>COPE WTF YOUR BIKE ISN'T ERGONOMICI can't imagine what was going through your heads when you thought it was a good idea to tell someone their bike isn't ergonomic, when they themselves said it was and they like it.
>>1603304Thats pretty dope lol. So you kayak down the river and go on a bike ride when you dock? Or are you kayaking TO your bike spot, a special secret island maybe?
>>1603451alright so one guy was just being rude. But I suggested he upgrade his levers before he said he wouldn't do it. You think it's rude to give >yous and suggest upgrades to people when they post their bikes? And further:>those dont work on my bike>I have original shimano brakes>I wear gloves dont need bartapethat's just nonsense. It's fine not to upgrade your bike if you're happy with it, obviously. You don't need to take suggestions for upgrades as insults though, or justify not doing it with nonsense. you think it's not nonsense? We can get into this.
>>1603457Nah I didn't say its nonsense, and if I had that anon's bike the first thing I would do is put real brake levers on it. But you just can't help yourself dropping comments about people's setup like you know their bike better than they do. Recommend the levers, cool. But when he says he likes it for subjective reasons, silly though they may seem, it is retarded to push your point further. Its like a "lead a horse to water" situation, but the horse isn't thirsty and you are trying to tell the horse, NO YOU ARE THIRSTY.
>>1603460oh i'm so sorry for going on at length about how other posters are stupid and my opinions are right i'm so glad you went to the effort to explain that to me with a metaphor even.
I guess the whole>no fuck off, my bike is perfect and you're dumb for commenting on it attitude triggers me when what makes these threads good is >yous
and like, what's so wrong with trying to have a discussion about period brake levers on a bicycle autist forum? It's basically abstract from any actual upgrades that should or shouldn't be done at that point. It's not even laboring over the point.
Edgy graffiti, bollocks this is well out of town and the work of obvious turds.

The bars, yeah, never thought about the look but they work for me.>>1603687Anonymous (x2?) is correct, it's an early 2020s frame so compact bars are "period". The bars and shifters make for a nice flat work area up top -- the ability to stretch out means that you don't need so much drop. The saddle... I don't look at it much when I'm on the bike so it's not a problem.>>1603704Meme cages maybe but they're a local product. >>1603882>Uh, maybe rack up more miles on it :} Thanks.Do not worry I enjoy your bike and think it looks good, anons that think standard compact drops look bad are still living in 1980 or something.
>>1603882>it's an early 2020s frameEr, 2010s. prufe reeding huh?
Will arrive this week. It's not a sporty bike but rather a normal 3 speed commuter, except it's lighter than the rest. Please rate bros I can't wait for it to arrive :)
>>1603879god you are cringe, the fact that you think im poor because i use a japanese bike from the 80s makes me think you are 15 and american.go get your trek bike , im sure you look great on it with all the borger fat , you fat fuck.
>>1604116you do... realize that your bike is very low end right?

>>1604123it's just reality lad. I'm not saying it's bad either. I've got a couple of very low end bikes myself that i quite like. Nothing wrong with it. just in my mind your bike isn't catagorised with nice, or even mid range, or even entry level japanese 80s road bikes. It's not like you're riding a miyata 912 or something. So when you say:>the fact that you think im poor because i use a japanese bike from the 80swell. no it's because you ride a very low end bike from any decade and any country.
>>1604123but actually, unlike that anon, i think that implies you just don't really know much about bicycles, rather than that you're poor. >who the fuck cares about bicycle autism on a bicycle autism forumbicycle autists

>>1604152nothing is important if you really want to get down to it anon and you are confused if you think i'm talking about the difference between old bikes and new.
>>1604153beautifuloften i hate neo-retro bikes but that one really works it's a fit issue, and you do what's comfortable for your fit, but i hope you don't feel like you should slam that stem for aesthetic reasons, because purely on looks it would look better not slammed. i like how your tyre decals match your frame decal
>>1604153I like it, it's the latest thing and therefore necessary and better.
>>1604161you are seriously confused if you think having your old bike nitpicked by retrodouches means you're being attacked by anti-retrodouches who think old=bad. anti-retrodouhes wouldn't even distinguish between various old bikes at all. To them your bike boom shitter might as well be a team miyata. and truely, i mean 'shitter' as an affable term. low end bikes aren't bad, but they aren't not low end bikes.
>>1604161and lol>quill stem steel frame>the latest thingagain, you just don't know much about bikes
>>1604163>>1604165Different person you absolute retard
>>1604160i'm tall as shit w/ long arms, usually run a 130 stem on this, can't get enough reach on a frame small enough to actually run the stem with a more aesthetic amount of rise. also modern cockpits don't have any meaningful drop in the hoods position so you need to run them lower for a given positionpic related, eros poli demonstrating what vintage bike fit is like for 6'5 guys and how classic bar bends drop the hoods
>>1604171I get it. Just some people fell too hard for the slammed stem meme and i'm just saying with quill stems it doesn't even look good. But you shouldn't fit a bike on aesthetics. Just saying, if you were doing that, then it's not even the right way.
>>1604175for sure. would love to come across a vintage bike someday with long reach & short stack for that very reasonthe horrible truth is that quill stems look bad slammed & threadless looks bad not slammed but you'd be a fool to get a custom bike with a threaded fork in current year

>>1609072Actually not a bad deal at all, these bikes ride very decently. Better than 26inch mtb Looks like you definitly need a new freewheel and chain, don't know what your shifters look like but 3x7 speed shifters can be had all day for $20.

My ride that I picked up for $300 on offerup. Easily worth 2 to 3 times as much money. Sold to me with only one part missing: a kickstand. It's a 1987 Puegeot roadbike.
>>1610253its laguna seca monterey CA
>>1613590few decent upgrades i can see but lolyou overpaid if anything
>>1613590Who pays $900 for a generic 30 year old roadbike?
>>1613625no we don't that peugeot is welded gaspipe ffs
>>1613590I doubt anybody is willing to pay 900$ for that bike. It isn't worth 900$ even if it was NOS. If you live in big city, you could get lucky and sell it to some hipster for 350$. Why does the bike have a relatively modern claris derailleur? I'm pretty certain that this is just your generic run of the mill old road bike, it's not vintage... It's just old.. For some reason normies love Peugeot, probably because its a brand they recognise and its french. My girlfriend wanted one, my old flat mate wanted to convert get and and convert it to a fixie....etcTHIS is a vintage Peugeot and is worth 900$. Do you see the different in quality? I'm not saying your bike is bad, but it is objectively completely shit compared to a a modern entry level road bike for example...the Trek Domane AL 2 or a Giant Contend 1 which can be had for around 900$..
>>1613631px10s are really cool but still not nearly worth 900 lol and that claris mech is far better than simplex. peugeots just tend to have really nice design and graphics on them. They're good looking bikes. Even the shit ones. putting up with french bullshit is annoying though.
>>1613638Value and "worth".. I also agree a px10 is not worth 900€ when you can get a second hand modern road bike for the same money.. But they are alot of retrogrouches who are willing to pay 900$ for one if it's in perfect condition, at least in europe... Value is determined by the market, not the seller. If somebody is willing to pay 900$ for the bike, it's a 900$ bike..
>>1613638and obviously a modern claris deraileur is better than 40 year old simplex. Nobody claims that vintage shit is better than modern technology. But if you had a Peugeot PX10 and swapped out the deraileur for a modern 8-speed claris one, the bike would loose value.. That's a no brainer...Real vintage bike looks really expensive. they are a few boutique shops in my city that have vintage bikes that look like they belong in a museum.. Obviously, somebody is buying the bikes otherwise the guy wouldn't be able to make a living.
>>1613647>Nobody claims that vintage shit is better than modern technologyI dobut not simplex vs claris
>>1613647yes. obviously a real racing bike from 1980s is objectively better and more fun to ride than a BSO from Walmart or some shit.
>>1613631What differences? It looks the same, but different paint and upholstery. Why would anyone want a fixie?(aside from doing bicycle acrobatics)
>>1613626I've seen it before. I'll see it again. All the PH8X models I've seen are welded, but you probably meant that as an insult in which case: nigger
>>1613653>why would anyone want a fixiethere are some practical uses for riding fixed - help smooth out your pedal stroke, some people like to ride fixed for winter city commuting to help gauge traction, simple drivetrain requires way less maintenance than a geared bike. otherwise its a choice made for clout or aesthetic. personally, i wouldn't choose fixed over single speed - the ability to coast/freewheel has way more benefits for me.
>>1613653I hope you don't think these two bikes are fixies anon..
