>>1598597No shit, tell that to >>1598360
>>1598041What's your point? While 060DA is not precisely pretty, it was actually styled along the lines of the times it was designed at. While just about any american road switcher follows the same layout and looks. To a level that without some intimate knowledge about which air port and grill goes to, you won't be able to recognize two versions of SD70 and that thing was produced for 30 years now and first model are nothing like the Tier 4 ACE models from today.Don't mistake my point here. I adore the brute efficiency of US railroads. I actually think that of all the things americans do, freight railroading is what they are actually no 1.But pretty those locomotives ain't.
>>1598374The curse was that Moscow decided what will be obtained where. East Germans had also their locomotive works yet they had to purchase Romanian locos (which were buggy) and Soviet locos which guzzled fuel (which wasn't surplus in DDR).
>>1598676Pretty much exactly what I was about to say. I'm American and like our railroads but pick any time in the last 50 or 60 years and 98% of locos on the rails will be variants of the same couple of designs, especially if you're confined to a specific area. British stuff is cool because there's a ton of variety and the different designs are distinct enough that you don't have to be an obsessed foamer to tell them apart.
>>1598676>>1598768Yuro locomotives look like toasters
>>1598769Mainland ones yeah, I'll take American iron over eurotoasters any day of the week. Brit locos are better though.
>>1598769now I may be British but even the ones that we based on Yuro locos look like smooth toasters.

Diesels are gay
>>1600287Coughs and sneezles spread Diseasels
>>1600176>>1600217Those are fresh out of the Electro-Motive plant, ready for export to Egypt (because of the AC unit above the cab)
>>1600176>>1600217I've seen another one kinda like this where a Class 70 is on a flatcar being pulled by an American diesel (a Norfolk Southern unit iirc) but I've never been able to find it again. It's crazy how small the UK loading gauge is when you see it side by side with American stuff.
How do you do fellow diesels?
>>1602022Really wish they could've made the Leader work.

>>1602056>>1602085Let's not forget the insane balance of an off-center boiler.Sleeve-valves & chain drives with 1940's technology didn't help much either.
