Say you were to go shopping with one of these.
Where on earth would you leave it while you're inside the store without having someone steal it?

IDGAF about range but I'm not carrying around a 40 pound anvil while shopping. They need to make them out of CF or Ti or something reasonable. It literally just needs to have 2-3 miles useful range and overnight charge capability, who the fuck wants to ride a scooter for 15 miles, seriously?

>What will the future of these electric scooters look like?
Scooters pretty much peaked they have models for every niche within technical possibilities. There is little left to improve, jsut polish models.

>IDGAF about range but I'm not carrying around a 40 pound anvil while shopping.
This is why EUC is superior. Because when you go into the shop it is like little rolling suitcase only it rolls itsels with it's own motor.

>the fuck wants to ride a scooter for 15 miles, seriously?
Those who ride for fun. Around 50 miles can be considered as plenty, it's 4-5 hours of ride , "all day", further you become tired, less you can roll more. If you use it just for fixed everyday commuting sure whatever range covers that is enough.
>>
>>1584109
Do you know how janky and terrible that would feel to ride? Forget potholes or cracks on the pavement, you would feel every grain of sand you run over on this dinky toy

>>
>>1588476
not really, you can cycle 5-10 miles easily. No one walks that distance to commute. 1-3 miles is where scooters should come in as an alternative to walking.
>>
>>1583544

>>1680881
Actually it's not quite that simple because virtually every seatpost clamped rear rack I can find is angled from the clamp to compensate for the seatpost angle, so if you put it on an e-scooter with a perfectly vertical seatpost the rack would be angled upward toward the back.

I have a folding kick scooter with a strap.
A big part of why I still use the thing as a grown ass man is because of how convenent it is to take places and not worry about it getting stolen.
Just fold it up and sling it across my back and I am good to go, then when I am out the store unfold it and zip away with a smile on my face because it is a fun way to get around for relatively short trips (under 5 miles).
As for electric ones, I guess you would have to carry a lock and lock it up like a bike since they any with a battery strong enough to move around a adult for anything but very short range is inconveniently heavy to carry around while shopping.
I remember the old gas ones back in the early 00s before most places banned the shit out of them. People just carried a lock, asked to put them behind whatever the equivalent of the front desk or next to the inside of the front door of the store so the staff could pretend to watch it, or had a friend watch it for them.
Which is pretty similar to what people do with bikes when they forget their lock, so most places are cool with it if you are polite and actually buy things.
>>
>>1594337
Most stores will call the cops on you and ask you to leave.

Have actually had to do that several times for people riding bikes and skate boards in the store I work at.

Hand on heart, i've only seen autistic and down syndrome people riding any kind of scooter in the city or anywhere else
>>
>>1701393
That's probably because you live in atlanta or some other place where most people are actual downies
>>
>>1583544
just leave it somewhere like everyone does. here you can rent those and no one has bothered to steal them
>>
>>1700722
Very interesting approach. I am talking about side plates. Not sure such portable scooter would be hit. But immediately comes to mind that side plates is way to go fro escoot. Side/ one leg forward stance sucks. Many people already ride with feet side to side. But this requires big scooter for/and small framed people. Here ypu can have side plates on compact scooter.

Side plates save length so you can fit bigger wheels with same overall leny. Also you can fit bettwen legs frame that tall and has high rigidity in the vertical plane, where you need this rigidity.
Is this patented?

fold scooter, put it into shopping cart. Profit.
But keep in mind guards are usually fucking retards.

>Many people already ride with feet side to side.
Those are also the people who're the most likely to end up face first in the pavement, as their posture gives them no balance advantage. There's a reason why shooters and fencers don't stand with their feet close together and side by side like that either.
>>
>>1702810
You can't stand like that on scooter, your right arm will not reach handlebar.

Unironically genius.

>People see B-Baller fumbling with chain
>Oh uh, lost my keys, think you can help me?
>(Oh shit, I don’t wanna look racist and just assume he’s stealing it) “Sure!”

>People hear an alarm like a car alarm
>Such a regular sound nobody even looks
>If anyone does look:
>Oh uh, sorry, thing must be glitching out, it does this all the time
>(don’t want to make racist assumption) “okay no problem”

>People hear electronic white-coded voice loudly screaming ”NIGGER!” (Hard ‘R’) on repeat in public
>Everyone has been trained to notice and intervene whenever they hear racism
>People start approaching, crowding around
>Oh uh, it’s just mine haha. It’s like, a joke
>SIR THIS IS EXTREMELY DISTRESSING THERE ARE CHILDREN HERE PLEASE TURN IT OFF NOW
>He can’t
>Crowd keeps getting bigger and angrier

The only problem would be figuring out how to retrieve it without people knowing it was yours.

Fold it and carry it on your shoulder with a strap.
If you aren't strong enough to carry it for a whole day just buy a car.
>>
>>1703283
If he can't carry a scooter, he will definitely not be able to carry a car.

>>
>>1587052
The handlebar will be collapsible so you can carry it like a skateboard. It will have more than two wheels but they'll still be in line. The front wheel will be fixed but it will be more maneuverable because the wheels will be on springs allowing you shift the weight to the back ones to turn. The handlebar will have a hinge at the bottom so it stays vertical when you do this.
>>
>>1588462
I need 12 mile range for it to be remotely usefull, anything under 2 miles I can just sprint to at 20km anyways
>>
>>1603021
you have to have money to go to one of those, there's an inherent barrier to entry. also, little resell value for generic alpine sports hardware compared to something used for general transportation (plus you could use it yourself).
>>
>>1688999
hang the bags from the handlebars just like I sometimes do on a bike when I have too much
>>
>>1594723
good thing they padded the video since the ride was 5 seconds long
>>
>>1603023
you could do that in the US for a short period of time in most places. Even in cities known for theft, it is unusual for an opportunistic criminal to pass by at the same time as the short window in which you are in the store. Of course, if you're there for more than 15 minutes, I might start to be concerned.

t. I have left my bike unlocked going into stores when I lived in a big US city with active theft, and have also had a bike stolen in that city, but it was locked and I was gone for several hours.

sounds terrifying to ride, I'd feel like I was gonna get fucked at that speed.

people would just steal or lose the keys, leaving an inoperable scooter

in the end these things just fucking suck for rental shit

That thing looks gnarly as hell; I totally would.
How much did you pay for it?
>>
>>1706998
Private escooters should have keys, though.
>>
>>1707044
I've never used one, but I imagine there is something like that, or some kind of thing to prevent it from being easily used by anyone. But then, the key point of the conversation was on rental units that can't work if they aren't in cell reception.
>>
>>1707081
The Xiaomi scooter I have can be locked through the phone app, but that's a pretty slow and shitty process.
>>
>>1707040
goddamn, that looks fucking radical. I would be really afraid of eating shit at 55mph though.

>>1707228
guess it's just gonna have to be bike lock then. Would suck if some chucklehead decided to turn it on and run your battery out while it was locked in place (assuming that's possible).
>>
>>1707318
>assuming that's possible
It's possible, but they'd have to stand there holding the front wheel in the air for an hour.
>>
>>1627455
dude do you have to ask? ofc it is

I don't understand these high power heavy scooters. At this price you might as well just buy a motorcycle that will outperform it in every spec.

>>

what's so great about that?
>>
>>1708598
When you're riding a motorcycle you feel you're sitting on a moving bench.
When you're riding an escooter you feel like you're a god who's floating through the air without doing anything.

They don't need license, registration, insurance and you can ride them on sidewalks and take on the bus or train.
>>
>>1709448
They don't need those things because they are illegal to ride on public roads anyway, or at least in EU.
And no, these heavy 30-50kg scooters are not easy to take on bus or train, it's possible, but not practical to do on daily basis.
>>
>>1711273
What's not illegal in EU anyway
>>

You know that thing in the anime where the guy has a really big sword and he just kind of puts it over his shoulder and it stays there?
Yeah, you just need to build like a magnetic sheath or something.
Look, it doesn't matter, what's important is that it'll look cool when you fold it and slide it into place on your back in one smooth motion, okay?
Do i really have to figure out everything for you? Aren't you an adult? Sheesh.
>>
>>1711273 Only stupid burgers and britbongs do enforce this shit. In large cities at least. In Poland, Lithuania, Croatia, Hungary, Spain - you could fly through the city at 50+kph and no one would give a damn.
