I could not imagine anything worse than being killed in a passenger airline crash. Everything is going smoothly and then suddenly your aircraft pitches violently and rolls into a dive. If you have a seatbelt on you’re lucky but only momentarily. The aircraft enters a free fall while the entire cabin fills with screams, those in the bathroom or not buckled into their seats are thrown around like rag dolls - peoples heads smashing into one another or the ceiling. The elapsed time makes you realize the pilots can not correct the aircraft and it sets in that you’re going to die. During daytime and with a window seat you are at least granted knowledge of the impact distance. At night it is a complete surprise. You’re stuck in a tube filled with screaming and frantic people until the moment you make contact with the earth, likely upside down. You know you’re going to die, you just don’t know when. It’s a surprise, like being sniped in the head. Depending on the nature of the accident you could be trapped in the windowless bathroom tumbling around covered in shit or you could be sucked out of the fuselage from explosive decompression and free fall into an engine nacelle or the starry expanse. Any scenario is completely disturbing and unpleasant to think about. I would never wish to experience this in my life.

what about dying alone from old age and chronic diseases
>>
>>1574755
That would just like what I'm doing now, minus the old age and chronic illness.

At least most options are instant and I'd say not knowing the exact moment is a big plus. That said I do agree. Fuck planes, they give me the creeps.
>>
>the guy in the seat next to you smiles and says "First time, huh?"

My mom was in a flight that randomly started to pitch down and she said it was eerily quiet, and the lady next to her just grabbed her hand and said nothing.

You have a minute or two knowing you're going to die, as you plummet to earth. Must be horrifying..

Swissair 111 happened when I was 16. I was listening to Art Bell on shortwave when a caller mentioned it, then I heard the sirens going by as everyone rushed to the scene.

A few weeks later, for "take your kids to work day" my friend's dad took us to the airbase where he worked. We hauled decommissioned aircraft around, but stopped by the morgue. I saw the refrigerated trucks and all the gurneys, and people working. Strangely, he considered letting us look inside but changed his mind. I was super curious though, so he walked me over to the unsorted wreckage, which was behind a chain link fence, and let me reach through and handle it. Even at 16, I was wondering why access was so relaxed.

Yeah, it would be terrifying. Holding shreds of seat fabric and being one door away from thousands of unidentified body parts really hits it home. Air disasters are very violent, life shattering events for everyone involved.

You've got 50-80 years knowing you're gonna die otherwise. Nobody gets out alive.

I've picture an scenario in my mind and if this happened to me, I'd scream really loud "allahu ackbar!" several times near the cabin, just to mess the investigation and make them believe the religion of peace was the responsible

Honestly dying in a plane crash is fine, what would be worse is a water landing in the pacific while you freeze to death or drown slowly since ain't no help coming

I have a plan for this in case it happens. Basically I'm going to somehow escape the interior of the plane, jump off the fuselage in a way that negates the impact force, land in the water and hopefully find a piece of debris that floats. I've ran simulations of this in Garry's Mod, I think it'll work.

Back in 1994 I was on a Cathay Pacific flight that had a near collision with a NWA flight, both 747 off the coast of Japan. I guess they missed each other by a few hundred yards.

I worked with a guy that had been in the Coast Guard and did cleanup off the California coast of the Alaska Airlines flight that crashed around 2000. He said they'd find a hand or a leg by itself and everyone was ripped to pieces.

even worse when your plane is being piloted by a hothead based goner

Dying in such a sudden and violent way is traumatic for your soul, no doubt. No time to think, no time to make amends, maybe a prayer or two and that's it, you are history.
