Having a small mirror on the traffic side of your bike improves quality of life by 100%. I can never go back.
what's the matter boomer, got a stiff neck?
>>1571967Yes.But also being able to monitor what's coming up from behind at all times without rubbernecking a hundred times per minute is legit.
idk anytime seeing whats behind you actually matters (intersections, making a turn etc.) you still have to turn your head.Any other time it pretty much doesn't matter whats behind you so why bother
>>1571964I like how they couldn't even be arsed to trim the brake cable
>>1571971Don't know about you but I'm not staring down at my horns while riding, using the mirror seems like it would require very deliberate head movement.
>>1571977>but I'm not staring down at my horns while ridingRide harder.
>>1571975thisthere's no way I'm switching lanes or turning left without turning my head, even if I had a mirror
>>1571964It does not. It's ridiculously small, it shakes all the time and it's always out of position. Don't trust it and be run over.Just fucking do a shoulder check!
>>1571964I bought a Varia instead but its pretty worthless
>>1571977>Don't know about you but I'm not staring down at my horns>my hornsSatan?
>>1571964A mirror on your wrist works better
i haven't tried the mirrycle mirror but i like the design a lot. they also have an older model for non aero levers that replaces the brake barrel adjuster to mount it
>>1572058The only time I ever found a mirror to be helpful which was a Pic related but that was only in 1 single situation, dark back twisty roads and the mirror would blind me with their light so I knew to move over a little JUST IN CASE drunk driver (Super common here)
>think about buying barend mirror because they're the only kind that don't look absolutely retarded>go look at them>lump of plastic with a reflective sticker pasted on that makes anything more than 3 feet away completely blurry>that'll be $30 goy>no thanks, I'd rather just get run over, thanks.
>>1572097I like how this once is able to close if you need it to gtfo of the way.
>>1571964>t. Fred
Turbocringe thread.
How about a mirror big enough to see stuff?

>>1571964Mirrors are nice, I have one on my commuter fredsled
>>1572103I as well passed on the aliexpress silver painted cadmium bar plug
>>1573417>using a phone while in control of a moving vehicleI honestly hope you get run over.
>>1573423oh look, an internet extremist.
Every time I go to pass someone with a bar or helmet mirror they freak out because they didn't see me coming up behind them. Really makes ya think
Found the vampire >>1573432
>>1572275Bigger is better.Unless you are comparing flat to a convex of similar size. Convex one is always going to be better, because just seeing one angle is useless.
>>1573438Best post
>>1571964ITTShit piss poor excuses
>>1571977Anon forgot his eyes can move without his head moving
enjoy your terrible aero
>>1572142it works but its so unpractical for any real world uses. I didn't mind a helmet mirror but again, a shoulder check completes the same and doesn't blind me with sun.
I like having one on my commuter bike.
>>1571964What's the best way to mount a mirror if you've got bar-end shifters? No, brifters are not an option. I prefer controls that can actually survive a minor crash.
>>1574296I just have my mirror on my left side drop bar in a position I never put my hands on. Might post a pic later
>>1574296You sound fat.
>>1571992Clearly you don't have a mirror. If you had, you'd realize you often don't need to turn your head.>>1573417Although you get a beter view, I noticed that having my mirror outside of my handlebars is impractical. The mirror breaks off when the bike falls down, and your bike becomes much wider.>>1573438LostDepending on the road, they can make your ride much more enjoyable. I need to be able to watch what kind of traffic is coming up behind me. Without it, I would have been killed three times while riding in Africa or south america, where half of the drivers are drunk or high and where brakes on cars are optional.
>>1574296helmet
>>1571975your time is very limited if you dont watch cars pass you.
>>1576935>Clearly you don't have a mirror. If you had, you'd realize you often don't need to turn your head. It's a good thing you're not driving a death cage.
>>1573438>>1573432
>>1571964why yes, this is a race
I literally pulled something in my neck doing a shoulder check this morning. If only I had a mirror.
>>1571964yes use a mirror! I wouldn't ride my motorcycle without one and the same reasons work for bikes too.
>>1572146work as well as the x-ray specs from comic book ads
>>1573719like anybody on here is a world class competitor and it would be a noticeable drag....
dare,,,,shouldercheck,,,and,hold,your,LINE!,,cantdoit!
>>1578893there are
>>1573423> Hey, don't do that thing. It could cause harm> I also wish that specific harm on youI never got this ass backwards logic
>>1571977Putting a mirror on your helmet is the patrician choice anyway. No looking down required; you just glance at your mirror and all is well.
>>1586475
>>1586750haha safety and awareness of your surroundings is so gay
Lmao the road isn't a velodrome. A 0.02633% increase in drag doesn't make a difference.
>>1571967OP is based, I don't trust any cager behind me, most of them are boomers that can't drive for shit.
>>1571964I use wear a pair of "spy" sunglasses I stole from my youngest brother
>>1571964useful but fragile af - i've trashed 3 of those past couple of years.
>>1578893a big one like in OP would be horrible for aero
some anons won't even wear a helmet, lights/reflectors or clipless pedals, a mirror is pretty far down down the list of potentially useful things, if you have a proper bike fit your neck/shoulders won't be so tense that you can't easily look behind you
>>1589785Use your body's power to overcome the increased drag.
>>1589789That's not how it works.
What do you guys think of the airZound and similar air-based bike hornsKino or nah?
>>1590317come on now this is obviously incel tier, people feel insecure about little things like having a slightly longer stem and then there's this goofy neckbeard stuff that they don't bat an eye at
This thread proves that bicycling is the cattiest, pettiest hobby you can engage in
>>1590366dude 99.99% of bicycles don't have a rear view mirror, /n/ is oddly oblivious and cringe, if your bike fit isn't fucked up your neck and shoulders should be relaxed enough so that you can turn your head, you can sense the presence of cars with your hearing and seeing them and the light from the headlights in your peripheral vision and lit up reflectors in front of you, and if your bike isn't fucked up you won't randomly swerve into the path of an overtaking car, even sheldon fucking brown didn't put a rear view mirror on his bikes although he used a helmet mirror
>>1590382My point: proven.
>>1573712Not as much when you have prescription glasses, extremely not if you have strong prescription glasses or multifocalst. have glasses
>>1586475>Putting a mirror on your helmet>your helmet
>>1590500if you're that kind of hobo mode why bother with other accessories which have a truly marginal benefit at best like a $15+ mirror
most anons cheap out on their bike as much as they can get away with but they have money to blow on fancy bar tape and mirrors etc
you might as well get a motorcycle or a car if you're such an imbecilic slob who can't look behind you without swerving
>>1590518It's not about swerving.a slight nod to check behind takes my eyes away from the road ahead for less time than turning my head around.
>>1590519cycling takes a reasonable amount of skill with balance, cornering, starting and stopping etc, a mirror is nothing but a crutch for when you have inadequate skills and/or an inadequate bike
>>1571964>>1571967>tfw i looked back to see if there was any oncoming trafic and when i looked forward i drove in parallell to the curb resulting in me fracturing my ulna and radiusneckbros we got too cocky
>>1571971just know the traffic laws and apply good etiquette, people drive vehicles with poor rear view visibility all the time
>>1590672>drove in parallell to the curbI do this all the time
>>1589734>compass>he doesn't use the stars to navigate
>>1572080That is a suspiciously arched back and pronounced butt pose for a rear view mirror
>>1591887
>>1572146Great way to blind yourself when you catch the sun
>>1590672might I suggest you may have driven perpendicular to the curb at an oblique angle>>1590806when looking over the right shoulder be sure to steer to the rightI do this by holding the back of the seat with my right hand
>>1571964you know what else improves the quality of life by 100%, not being a faggot. try it.
>>1578633Im not sure if that’s UCI legal anon.
