>Blue Line gets new train cars and gives its old ones to the Orange Line
>Orange Line now has the oldest trains in the entire CTA system with no plans to upgrade

FUCK the CTA. I hate riding the orange line every morning with its 80s fake wood paneling and burned out yellow train lights with discolored plastic light covers.
>>
Get over it snowflake. You wanted transit you got it.
>>
>>1361580
I should just move to the northside so I can get those glorious 5000 series Purple line trains
>>
>>1361542
There are three relevant lines and the Orange isn't one of them. Cry more faggot

Chicago CTA has one of the youngest set train cars in the US.

Relax.

Orange line doesn't go to O'hare retard. The only 2 El's that go to airports are the Blue and Red lines, and those are the only lines that run 24/7. The rest shut down at around 1 AM and are back up at 6 AM
>>
>>1362587
Yeah no shit, did you also know Orange like goes to MIDWAY AIRPORT which is also an INTERNATIONAL airport?
>>
>>1362590
Midway isn't O'hare, thats like saying LAX is the same as Los Angeles Executive.
>>
>>1362606
what the hell are you on about? Orange line is relevant because it goes to an AIRPORT, why are you pretending Midway doesnt exist?

Guys please calm down we don't need any more incidents from you autists.

Maybe we should remove the whole board?

I think its time we put some hard limits on train posting.

Going from Roosevelt to Halsted or the other way around is probably the best views of the river and downtown in the city. Orange could use an upgrade but honestly I don't mind the vintage look and it works fine.

Also Midway used to be an international airport but then they took away the potbelly.

Souless and no row seating, unless you are handicapped.
>>
>>1364137

I have to agree. The older trains look more comfy. Hard plastic seats suck in both cases. The newer trains look like they have a little more window area though. But that could be just the perspective

Chicago bros here’s the tier list

>Top tier
Brown Line

>good tier

Orange line

>Comfy tier

Yellow Line

Orange Line (at certain times)

>way to fucking packed tier

Blue line

>Meh tier

Purple line

>just take an Uber tier

Red Line
>>
>>1363250

It’s worse when they are the same race they don’t y’all shot to white people

Too accurate. I'd rank Green Line same tier as Red Line
>>
>>1361542
but what did they have before they got those
>>
>>1364150
wew.. even the old ones we had before they changed to electric trains werent that bad
>>
>>1364522
>brown line
>aka waiting for 3 train cars before there’s enough room to get on one during rush hour
>>
>>1364145
to be fair western is the longest road in chicago so it crosses like 5 CTA lines
>>
>>1364732
I have noticed the brown line in the morning for the loop is fucking packed while towards kimball is not and it’s vice versa later.
>>
>>1364755
>trains heading into the city at 8am are packed but the ones heading out arent
gee i wonder.
try getting a kimball train at 5pm at Chicago or Merch Mart, its packed to the brim by then. The only winners are people who get on the brown line in the loop while its still empty
>>
>>1364757
Yeah that’s me I don’t live in the city well technically I do since I live in Clearing. Try telling that to any Chicagoan on the Internet and it makes them seethe since muh suburbs are cancer.

Row seating sucks and you don't get to stare directly out the window and zone out
>>
>>1365100
If you want window watching the best seats are the single seats on the Brown Line not to mention the Brown itself has some impressive sights to see
>>
>>1365067
fuuu those flip flop seats are comfy as hell. I love them on the Metra with a group. Didn't know they used to be on the L. Is that one of the modern restos they ran for the anniversary ride? I wanted to get a ticket for that but it was sold out by the time I heard about it.
>>
>>1365142
>>1365100
The best seats are those little private ones on the 2600/3200? Trains at the end of each car on one side
>>
>>1365160
Yes, they put them on the restoration CTA trains, CTA used to have really comfy seats before homeless people and drug addicts started pissing all over them.
>>
>>1365168
I think the orange line still has those
>>
>>1365170
And shidding. This homeless guy got a section all to himself because he shit himself
>>
>>1365313
>get on the purple line at 8:30am
>at Harold Washington Library stop
>TWO homeless men sleeping across the row seats already
>smell so bad I got off at the next stop to switch cars
>>
>>1365392
That’s when you need a old black guy with a cane who don’t give a shit and bangs the seat to wake them up.
>>
>>1365395
This. The only true defense against the homeless.
>>
Does anyone miss when the operators would actually talk to the train and not use Mr.CTA all the time some still do but it’s very rare. There’s this guy on the orange line who would give you the time and whether and said he hope everyone has a good week.
>>
>>1365415
my nigga i havent heard that guy in a while, used be around 8:30-8:45ish on the Orange line in the mornings, it was an older white guy. Pretty cool dude
>>
>>1365415
Only old timers talk I think the CTA specifically tells new people not to talk and just use Mr.CTA. There was an old black guy on the red line who always cheered people up but he retired a while ago.
>>
I’ve noticed that all of the folks who cross between cars against the rules have something in common, but I cannot quite put my finger on it...

Old solution: cop drags them off the train, throws them against the wall, tells them they're getting a night stick up their ass if he sees them again

/n/imby solution: Use economic coercion to force people who don't really want to ride it to use the train ("dilution")

Because all destinations along 90 would be at least a half mile from the stops. The ICS is the more viable service, more so if extended to Blue Island and Northbrook.

Does anyone love Union Station in Chicago? Such a nice little place:
>>
where all my pink line guys at?
>>
>burned out yellow train lights
This is the best imo. Far more comfortable than the harsh LED on new trains.
>>
>>1369695
To much Amish People also I think it’s kinda small for a major station in a city.
>>
>>1373736
I mean, the size is appropriate given the Metras come in and out of two other locations. (OTC is part of Union for all intents and purposes.)
>>
>>1369695

I took the Amtrak to there from Milwaukee and was disappointed by the maintenance. Crumbling concrete, rusting steel structure. Preferred Ogilvie station even though some may view it as sterile.
>>
>>1374483
Union Station just had a renovation recently though
>>
Metra trains smell like weed.
>>
>>1376425
I think you mean CTA cars
>>
If this is a CTA thread what are these ladders for? Camera repairmen?
>>
>>1377737
If the train gets stopped and you have to cross tracks to get to a platform I think the ladder actually like a little bridge do you don’t touch the 3rd rail
>>
>>1377737
Holy shit anon are you okay? When’s the last time a CTA train derailed?
>>
>>1377825
As far as I know not as common as it once was where people actually died from it

If they wanted to extend the Orange line to Ford City they could.. they own all ROW south of midway. But they wont do it because blacks and the cost of building a quarter mile bridge over the train yard
