Why the fuck does EVERY classical nylon-stringed guitar have such a high action? I JUST WANT TO FUCKING PLAY THE THING not weave a sweater over it

also, are 1/2 or 3/4 models actually designed for children? the Juggernaught model i have is uncomfortably oversized for me (1.87cm)
>>
>>99696314
better tone, volume. If you're not playing classical guitar, it's going to be a struggle and you will prefer a steel string. You could look at lowering the action at the bridge and saddle.
As for body size, look into getting a parlour guitar or similar. Juggernauts are just retarded.
>>
>>99696582
that makes sense i suppose. i sort of want the softer, duller sound of a nylon guitar though, is there such a thing as a parlour guitar with nylon strings? i can't find it when i search for it.

literally what the fuck are you talking about

this isn't a thing.

People are actually engaging in intelligent discussion in this thread. Kindly fuck off.

action is how high the strings are off of the fretboard, the first shit-ass clasical guitar i had that i broke the head off of like a caveman had strings like 2-3cm off of the fret, i just do not fucking understand why
>>
get a nylon flamenco guitar pleb. they have low action.
>>
>>99697012
sperg

>>99697046
I know what action is dumbfuck

Classical guitars are not typically high-actioned.

Maybe a little bit more than steel string since nylon is much much easier to press down. But not so high that you'd even notice in spite of that. As in, over 20 years playing guitar, classical and steel, it never once stuck out to me if it is in fact the case.

It's literally not a thing

>>
>>99696314
buy savarez low tension strings they arent as loud as regular strings but they change the tension enough to back-bow the neck to get lower action
>>
>>99701318
Cool intonation retard
>>
>>99701483
depends on the instrument friend, strings do not impart intonation as you think it does
>>
>>99701870
You're talking about making the fucking neck bow on a classical ass fucking no truss rod guitar.
>>
I had the same product because my guitar was chinese shit
>>
>>99697837
Then you should have posted a picture of a guitar
>>
>>99696314
>>99696701
I have a Cordoba C5-CET that has good action. It's made as a sort of "middle-man" guitar for people not as used to more authentic classical guitars. It's louder than it looks too. Great guitar.
>>
>>99702303
there are no good ones
>>
>>99702378
every classical guitar has good action because there's no way to adjust it and the tradition of making classical guitars is ancient and known and if you somehow found a classical guitar with action so high that it's difficult to play then i'm sorry to say you have bought some kind of weird chinese scam instrument and/or done something to fuck up a normal classical guitar
>>
>>99702025
tension can change that, i switched out some stock ass medium tension strings on my takamine classical to some low tension and it significantly changed the relief in the neck and lowered the action. think before you post frendo
>>
>>99702595
You either fucked up your intonation and don't know it, or it was already fucked up and your switch fixed it. Or maybe it was fucked up and you fucked it up more. Who's to say when someone as rarted as you is our only direct source.

Bowing the neck changes intonation.
>>
>>99696701
if you want a duller sound just dont change your strings
>>
>>99702693
not if it's a consistent arc all the way down with a slight back bow, the frets would all move in relation to each other. it's just shortening the scale
>>
>>99696582
>If you're not playing classical guitar, it's going to be a struggle and you will prefer a steel string.

this just sounds like a bad setup, if anything the string tension on an acoustic will be higher all things considered and actually fretting or striking the strings will take much less effort all things equal
>>
>>99703163
>the frets would all move in relation to each other

And the frets are placed logarithmically. So they'll move in relation to one another, but not in the way that matters.
>>
>>99702425
Then why can you file down and replace the nuts and saddles? Classical guitar makers don't suddenly and exclusively know how to make wood not behave like wood. They age like shit and every one that's more than a hundred years old or whatever is more or less a guitar of theseus.
>>
>>99697273
this

they should be easy to play
>>
>>99703505
>They age like shit and every one that's more than a hundred years old or whatever is more or less a guitar of theseus.

agree with the rest but this isnt really true, I've seen more prewar guitars that were preserved and unmodded than 60s electrics for example. other than obvious things like nut and saddle and maybe a fret replacement, but those are things that wear so i wouldnt compare that to theseus' ship
>>
>>99703505
how tall could a nut/saddle possibly fucking be that it's causing uncomfortably high action on a nylon string

this thread is nonsense through and through
>>
>>99702425

>literally the title
>"junk guitar"
>literally the first five seconds of the video
"it's 40 years old, it spent most of its life in the attic"

refer to where i said "and/or done something to fuck up a normal classical guitar"

any old cheap ass yamaha bullshit entry level guitar you buy will have normal action. the height a nylon string would have to be to be uncomfortable to play is incredible to imagine.

here is the point i'm trying to make: if your classical has high action to the point that it's uncomfortable to play, something has gone terribly wrong and your experience is not typical. it's a very unusual circumstance.

You can put ball end nylon strings in a steel string acoustic
>>
>>99697312
>Play one shitty classical guitar with high action
>Why do all nylon string guitars have high action?
I play electric guitar and nylon string classical and my classical guitar's action isn't significantly higher than my electric, and it's not any more difficult to play.

How would nylon strings fuck up a steel string neck?
>>
>>99705654
Because it's built to have tension on it?

Same reason it's bad to leave it unstringed for long periods of time?
