What will never be popular again is buttrock and guitar solos through floorcringe and a ts.

sustain and treble. I had it set up by someone really good, the notes still died out quickly and there was no feedback at all. put a set of gibson burstbuckers in and that high end thing just wasn't there. It was really good in isolation, but shit in comparison to other guitars

Anyone build your own pedals? I did 2 Electric Mistress sound-a-likes and a DM-2 clone with modulation.
>>
>>99697466
Full context - we are comparing a 2008 epi LP custom pro against a 1995 Gibson LP studio.
the big differences are documented here >>99697399
The gibson is much more sensitive, as in small amounts of vibrato give feedback. the epiphone sounds dead in comparison, i.e. you play a high E at the 12th fret on the high E string and it dies quickly, but on the gibson it resonates and goes into feedback. epiphone is a good guitar, but the gibson is just better.
Remember these are 2 specific guitars from decades ago, so your mileage may vary
>>
>>99697620
No you didn't
>>
>>99697538
how would you check this? I can get on board with that, the Epi is needlessly muddy even with gibson pickups
>>
>>99697609
lol I wish it was mine, any tips to make my guitar sound like that or what pedal i could buy? I looked at a really nice one with the worst (perfect for this) distortion I've ever heard, the wmd geiger counter but it's 300$ and it would cost double my amp at this point

>>99697896
Sounds just like the records, that's what I would say. I only really use the bridge pickup though. Harder to get that sound out of other guitars, this one is idiot proof. Tightens up nicely with a TS for metal/hardcore.
>>
>>99697631
Thanks anon for the detailed explanation. I read from many sources that Epiphone has upped its game lately and the 2020 collection is pretty good.

From my experience the pickups (probuckers) are quite responsive, the sustain is great, the ebony fingerboard is very comfortable. Overall it feels like a quality guitar. My only other guitar is a 97 American standard strat, compared to that the epi custom doesn't feel low quality at all ( I kinda prefer the feel of the les paul lately probably due to scale length) just different.

I really wanna try some Gibsons after the lockdown period for comparison to satisfy my curiosity but I hear that with both Epiphone and Gibson it's quite hit and miss

>retards lean guitarst against couches
>they fall over and break
>"HOW COULD THE COMPANY DO THIS TO ME"
>based company: "you deserved it and we hope it happens again and again until you go broke or quit guitar. fuck you."

The more expensive a guitar is, the more fragile it should be to dissuade poorfags from saving up to buy something they don't deserve. As poor people are naturally dumber and clumsier they will break their nice things and they will be less valuable and run down looking, to match their worthless, often ugly owners.

Know your place, poors. Buy strats.

It doesn't need to be fixed because your suffering is icing on the cake. If breaking it bothers you, you're too poor to have one.

If anything they should be more fragile. Take porsches. Could you save up for one? Sure. Could you afford to take care of one? Doubtful. Is that a good thing? Definitely.

>no i want my $2500 guitar to last forever (i can't afford another one) and retain all its resale value forever (in case i need to sell it to make rent)

Gibsons are like BMWs

Poors save up to buy them, but they can't afford the rest and then bitch to BMW about not making a more poor-friendly care
>THE PARTS COST TOO MUCH
>ITS TOO HARD TO FIX AT HOME
>THE SERVICE INTERVALS ARE TOO SHORT
>MAKE IT MORE LIKE A TOYOTA
>BMW: "the customers we actually care about don't share your complaints. a few $1000 services a year isn't a lot to them. maybe a corolla is more your speed?"
>poorfags: BUT I WANT PEOPLE TO THINK IM RICH ;_;

God, Gibson is such a chad company. I still remember that hipster faggot from Mastodon crying like a bitch when they dropped his endorsement because Mastodon weren't popular anymore.

He said when he asked them to put a custom gauge set of strings on his personal instrument they just laughed and told him if he was Slash they might've considered doing it.

every classical guitar has good action because there's no way to adjust it and the tradition of making classical guitars is ancient and known and if you somehow found a classical guitar with action so high that it's difficult to play then i'm sorry to say you have bought some kind of weird chinese scam instrument and/or done something to fuck up a normal classical guitar

agree with the rest but this isnt really true, I've seen more prewar guitars that were preserved and unmodded than 60s electrics for example. other than obvious things like nut and saddle and maybe a fret replacement, but those are things that wear so i wouldnt compare that to theseus' ship
>>
>>99701630
This is the thing that makes me nervous. Epiphone is owned by Gibson. It's definitely not beyond a company like Gibson to forcibly gimp and neuter their sister brand so that they can still say the guitars they shit out are of better quality by comparison.
Epiphone needs to break free from Gibson's grasp and form their own legacy. They make good quality instruments I think. And they were around before Gibson.
Fuck the Gibson headstock it should have been Epi.

any old cheap ass yamaha bullshit entry level guitar you buy will have normal action. the height a nylon string would have to be to be uncomfortable to play is incredible to imagine.

/gg/ I have a question
I'm looking to get a cheap bass and upgrade it a bit to be not shit. I also think it would make for a good project, but I've never done any modifications before except changing strings.

My idea is to get a squier bronco bass and swap out the pickups for a Rickenbacker neck pickup (or bridge even, if it could fit the body). I know that this would require me to also modify or replace the pickguard. So my question is really just whether that is a feasible modification to make? What issues might I run into?
>>
>>99704830
If I get your question, you are talking about strumming both E+e versus fingerpicking both at the same time. It matters, yes. Does it change it for better or worse is completely subjective, though. Do what you feel sounds better.
