Holy fuck this album's boring. I've listened to this thing dozens of time and I still don't see the appeal.

You're not very smart

Listen to an earlier MBV album and then loveless again and see whether you prefer the vacuum cleaners turned on or off

You need to learn to appreciate noise and walls of sound. Loveless is an album you experience
>>
>>85843797
there early stuff is like saying hi to a girl, loveless is like eating a pussy to slow music and scented candles

ive given up on this album bro, its just not meant to click for some people
>>
... you don’t have to like something.
You’re not entitled to enjoy something because other people do.
Stop being insecure. It also doesn’t matter if you don’t like it.

all wrong
loveless is a very easy record to like and if you dont instantly than you propably wont ever. its fucking indie rock people. yeah it invented shoegaze (inb4 proto shoegaze, eat my ass) but its not a challenging listen in the slitest. now i fucking LOVE loveless, its propably unironically my numero uno record of all time but its pretty reasonable for someone to just not like it.
>>
>>85846313
I remember my first time. Belinda's boner-enducing voice coming in over that harsh yet beautiful noise on Only Shallow, it was like getting put back into the womb.

This
It’s literally just a normal, accessible 90s alternative album but noisier.
>>
>>85846313
>>85846662
hurrrr durrrrrr

it was a fucking revolution and you know it. and still is, otherwise there wouldnt be plebmasters like you both dismissing it as simple accesible alternative 90s. it has the curve of the great ouvres: its catchy at first listen, then you discover all the layers and interstitial tracks, then you can enjoy it again. its an album that normans can listen, advanced users can too, but middle of the road people always struggle with it.

What a fucking pleb retard. If I don't like something on the first listen, I never listen to it again. But you're a tone deaf retarded pleb so you have to listen to something you don't like a dozen times.

Fuck you I wish you were dead.

>some noisy pop album

LOL
>>
Loveless is for people that like staring at lavalamps
>>
>>85846742
Of course it's revolutionary, it invented and popularized a genre basically. But it's a challenging listen today. Today it's accesible and easy to digest, meaning also it's easy to instantly tell whether you like it or not. There's no mystical second layer or revelation after multiple listens, it's still shoegaze.
>>
>>85847081
>But it's a challenging listen today.
Obviously meant "not a challening listen" but I'm retarded and now everyone will dismiss my point.
>>
>>85847081

No, it's still noisy pop.
>>

It doesn't get any more contrarian than this tbf.
>>
>>85847155

>>
>>85847155
Well back in the days, Loveless was just another noisy pop album.
The "shoegaze" thing was all about Ride, not My Bloody Valentine.

>>
I thought Loveless was ok, but Isn't Anything is better
>>
>>85846313
idk anon, on my first listen I didn't like it, now it's my favorite album.

tbf at the time my taste in music was shit and I was one of those dorks who was like "hurr why the voices so quiet??? can't even hear!!" but then I revisited it after my horizons were expanded and I started listening to different kinds of music and I fell in love with it.

I feel like it's an acquired taste. Maybe it's just me.
>>
>>85845489

>>
Slowdive and the new wave of shoegaze is much more exciting than MBV
>>
>>85843676
This album is so shit. More like Lifeless. Repetitive, annoying ass "ooohhh""ahhhhhh"" vocals annoy the hell out of me. Trebly static ad nauseum. It sounds stunted and castrated. Just a fog of loopy noise and not-even-half baked musical ideas played over and over again. This album should be half as long as it is considering the amount of actual ideas there are in this thing.

Literally one of the most embarassingly autistic albums I've ever heard. /mu/ really does have shit taste.

>>
>>85848780
I think that's more of a case of you being open to more music than Loveless specifically clicking after multiple listens.
>>85847583
Please tell me you're joking. Slowdive are worse than measles.
>>
>>85848977
Hey, just here cause I didn't tag you in >>85851699 to tell you that Slowdive is propably the worst thing to come out of the shoegaze genre. I understand not liking Loveless but pulling Slowdive as an example... simply embarassing. Cheers!

The scene where Sometimes is playing and they're driving through the city. The images and context paired with the music perfectly capture the feeling of Loveless. It's like being deep inside a warm and cozy mist, with a hint of sadness and regret.

Maybe the Loveless aesthetic just isn't for you. I feel the same way about the latest Daughters album. Everyone seems to love it but I hate that macho/aggressive vibe with a passion.
>>
>>85853199
>The scene where Sometimes is playing and they're driving through the city.
Yeah I figured that scene is what you were talking about.

>The images and context paired with the music perfectly capture the feeling of Loveless. It's like being deep inside a warm and cozy mist, with a hint of sadness and regret.
I'm kinda jealous of the romantic language people use when describing Loveless. I've never loved an album enough to prose any musings about it.

>Maybe the Loveless aesthetic just isn't for you.
Maybe it isn't. I can't say I didn't try

>I feel the same way about the latest Daughters album. Everyone seems to love it but I hate that macho/aggressive vibe with a passion.
Ugh I fucking hated that album too. It's so try-hard. I kept thinking about how much I'd rather be listening to early Swans.
>>
>>85844949
>You need to learn to appreciate noise and walls of sound.
I like noisy music but Kevin Shield's guitar work is some of the most hideous shit I've ever heard

>Loveless is an album you experience
i.e. the music sucks and the album is only being carried by it's aesthetic
>>
Really?

I always thought the last song was pretty catchy.

I like the rest as well.

Try listening it to it while you're busy doing something, sometimes listening to it in the background lets you hear it differently, just a suggestion.
>>
>>85854333
anyone gonna at least acknowledge my trips?
>>
>>85854333
>I always thought the last song was pretty catchy. I like the rest as well.
It's not the worst thing I've ever heard. What You Want is the only song on the album I like tho.

>Try listening it to it while you're busy doing something, sometimes listening to it in the background lets you hear it differently, just a suggestion.
Idk I've listened to this album roughly 25-30 times, if I haven't gotten it now I don't think I'm gonna get it. But I guess I'll do it while cleaning the house or something
>>
>>85854931
honestly i’d just stop listening to it. at that point i think you can say you gave it a chance. you don’t have to like everything (especially if it’s lauded by this board)
>>
>>85843676

>>85843676
It literally took me about 60 plays until it clicked. I always liked it, somewhat, but it took years until I realized just how much of a masterpiece it is. Listening to it right now actually.
>>
>>85856903
>It literally took me about 60 plays until it clicked
Now that's dedication
>>
>>85857014
Well, "clicked" as in I finally saw what everyone else sees in it. It's one of those albums I listened to a lot in high school but I never actually realized how frequently I revisited it. Then I realized I'd listened to it so much and the love kind of began to bloom from there, if any of that makes sense. I always liked it but didn't know why, but then one day I finally started to appreciate it on a whole other level
>>

>>

>took me 60 plays until it clicked
I listened about 30 times and I'm done this album isn't for me
>>
>>85843676
It's just simply not for you. This album clicked the first time I listened, mostly out of subtleties in production and playing rather than the songwriting itself
>>
>>85857313
>"Nice buzzword"
>acts as though buzzword isn't a buzzword
>>
>>85857445
If course you don't enjoy it for the songwriting. It's because the songwriting is non-existent
>>
>>85857344
If the music doesn't SOUND good then what's the fucking point?
>>
>>85857154
Yeah, I thought it was just ok for a few years. I wasn't very open to genres outside of what I was used to so I guess I just didn't "get" shoegaze. Now that it's clicked it's one of my favourite albums. Definitely an album you "feel" rather than enjoy for the complex song structures
>>
>>85843676
It's something you won't truly appreciate until you're older/have more music listened to under your belt.

You've got a ways to go.
>>
>>85847081
I've never heard of shoegaze as a genre. You learn something every day.
