Why do metal elitists automatically write off metalcore? Especially the post-2010 era stuff, you’re missing out on some fantastic bands likeWage War Make Them Suffer Novelist FR Invent Animate Polaris Resolve Aviana DealerFit for a King ERRA Architects Imminence Landmvrks Currents Spiritbox Northlane Half Me The list goes on
Metalheads hate anything with the slightest bit of punk influence. They hate hardcore/ post-hardcore and emo just as much, if not more. They will always say its because it's whiny and gay, when a lot of them are somehow also into glam metal from the 80s
>>116532399It sounds 'fake' especially the vocals lots of times. Also pretty formulaic.I've heard songs from about half the bands you posted
>>116532399Metalcore is not metal
>>116532399Had high hopes for metalcore but in the end it turned out to be disappointing, formulaic and derivative with very few exceptions. The genre has not much to offer to ppl who alrdy know their metal and seems more like entry level stuff to ease new ppl into harder music. Is that bad? No. Is it for me? No.
>>116532536>The genre has not much to offer to ppl who alrdy know their metal and seems more like entry level stuff to ease new ppl into harder music.Couldn’t disagree more there is a reason metalcore has evolved into a main sub genre with several branching off shoots also try giving this a listen maybe you’ll like it https://youtu.be/9mHhFrdnT44
90's metalcore is good. The new stuff is shit and that doesn't make me an elitist for not liking it.
>>116532498>post-hardcore and emoI like both of those but I don't like them when fused with metal
>>116532589There are little hints of prog and post and some parts where they try to sound like sikth 10+ years ago and the rest is the same feelsies hardcore. It's exactly what my problem with metalcore was from the beginning, only innovating on a surface level, while forgoing anything groundbreaking for more mass appeal. I alrdy heard anything there it's just in a mix I don't like. If you picked this up 3 years ago and it carries you places fine for you but don't be sad that ppl listening to niche metal for 10+ years aren't wowed by that.
>>116532399Just look at you picture and then look at an 80s metal band and you will have your answer. It's far too detached from the traditional metal aesthetic.>>116532498It's not the punk influence that's the problem, it's how distant from traditional metal culture it is. It's too cleaned up and emo-ish. Glam metal is far more in line with traditional metal than metalcore.
>>116532498I like Big Black and Agnostic Front desu. Also GISM,Charged GBH,Poison Arts.
>>11653249880s hardcore and crossover is for chads. Modern metalcore is pure wankery.
>>116532498you are retarded
>>116532399>Why do metal elitists automatically write off metalcorePolaris and ERRA are greatArchitects is mehNorthlane has one good song and Alien as an album is meh to goodit's mostly because metal elitists are gay because being an anything-elitist is super fucking gaylike the music that you like and shut the fuck up about it. I like some Veil of Maya and Periphery but I just don't tell anyone
Cuz it sucks including those bands
I fell into the elitist trap for a long time, but in hindsight metal has stagnated for at least a decade while coreshit has continued to evolve. So now I'm of the mind that genre doesn't matter at all, as long as you do something interesting.
>>116532589if that's the best you could come up with then metalcore is in an even worse state than I thought
>>116532399I'm not a fan of older stuff but actually like a bunch of new metalcore, turns out all it needed was a bit of progwank
>>116532399I like metalcore but some of those bands are kinda cheesy. The only recent metalcore I like is Loathe now that I think about it. The rest is all bands that peaked 10-20 years ago
>>116532498Wrong, thrash came from punk/hardcore influences fused with NWOBHM. Modern metalcore is just a bastardization of extreme metal styles with pop sounding melodies and simplified song structures, not to mention the most idiotic breakdown sections. It sounds disingenuous to metal fans.
>>116532498nobody likes glam
>>116534713>coreshit has continued to evolveHas to be gpt generated, no one could think this unironically
>>116532635crazyyy bc i hate both of them and think metalcore is alright
>>116532498normie pseud tourist take. kill yourself
https://youtu.be/OMGeZkhi9JA metalcore is kinda good if you listen to the right stuff
>>116532498Wrong about punk, hardcore punk, crust, grindcore, deathgrind, and probably more I can't think of right now
>>116535994We hate literally all of that, fuck off poser
>>116534724nta, and I generally don't like the "cores", but here's two more interesting examples, to me (but maybe worse examples of the genre).https://youtu.be/Z4ITfv38Yo4https://youtu.be/gfL2mV94F-0
>>116532399>Why do metal elitists....Blah blah blah, seethe and cope lmao
>>116536369>We
it's the pop influencesif metalcore actually sounded like what it describes itself as, it wouldn't be badhttps://youtu.be/zHve_Bhql9k
>>116532399Because it sucks. It's not what I want metal to sound like. What's so hard to understand about that?>>116532498Wrong and stupid. Punk influence has nothing to do with it, thrash wouldn't exist without punk and Motorhead is one of the most beloved metal bands ever and they sound alot like punk. Metalcore just has different sensibilities and as such different fanbases. Also metalcore suck fucking ass.
>>116532498Thrash has a huge punk influenceKill Em All is basically a punk album with better guitar work
>>116532399I don't consider myself an "elitist", but I do write off metalcore. If you want to know why it comes down to some things>A.I don't like hardcore music at all, and it's a fusion genre of hardcore and metal. Same reason I don't like nu metal>B.It doesn't have the same values or aesthetics I enjoy from metal music, the attitude and vibe of the music is way different and doesn't have the same appeal at allC.Even shit that leans more on metal than hardcore just often sounds like a dumbed down remedial grade version of metal, which it kind of is by nature, so it doesn't appeal to me on an instrumental level>>116538220Thrash has punk influence but I agree with people who say punk tries to take too much credit. I still can't listen to Kill Em All next to Black Flag and think "wow this sounds like the same thing", so yeah no I don't think it owes everything to punk. If anything, it sounds more like a more aggressive version of NWOBHM.Hardcore punk bands couldn't play their instruments, thrash bands could, so yeah it didn't all come from hardcore like punks like to claim.
