>>
>>116523859
I can remember when everybody had 100+ cds racked up in their room so you can imagine how silly this looks to me.
>>
>>116523859
5/12 of them
>>
>>116523859
all of these are at least good except for morphine. i fucking hate morphine.
>>
>>116523919
oh wait, tales from the punchbowl is there, 6/12.
>>
good taste but with old albums i just download the best master and don't get the cd if it isn't cheap
>>
>>116523859
I wonder if anyone who got into Pet Sounds felt compelled to listen to other Beach Boys albums and then more or less said, "Fuck! I like everything else they did too!"

I mean, if you're new to the Beach Boys and you really like Pet Sounds, your next move should be "Today!" and "Summer Days". The two studio LPs just before Pet Sounds. Side 2 of Today is basically a Pet Sounds sneak peek.

And the standalone single, "The Little Girl I Once Knew." Very Pet Soundsish.

I agree it's ultimately pointless and listening to music on CD isn't my primary way of acquiring music, but I still enjoy collecting/finding CDs since they are so cheap now. It's a fun hobby if you don't go the soulless way of just ordering things online

This thread reminded me that not too long ago I tried to see if I could get a couple bucks for some CDs that I no longer had any affection for. The place took everything except for a copy Some Nights by Fun that I got in middle school. They literally wouldn't even toss me a few cents so that they could keep it with the rest of the stack; it had zero resale value in their eyes. Anyway I don't even disagree but now every time I look at the CD I just laugh and think about how it's probably the only item in my room that currently has zero monetary value in the eyes of its respective market.
>>
>>116524324
>I still enjoy collecting/finding CDs since they are so cheap now
yeah this is why i started buying vinyl in the early '00s
no way i'd start now that it's so fucking expensive
>>
>>116523859

I feel like CDs are going to make a similar comeback that vinyl had pretty soon. Either out of nostalgia or novelty, it's going to happen eventually

I have a fuck ton of CDs, I hardly listen to them anymore tho cause using my phone is just so much easier. Here is a relatively small sample of my collection, though – I have a lot more in huge briefcase-sized CD wallets as well as several big stacks in my closet.
>>
>>116529890
if you think that then you don't understand why vinyl has come back
>>
>>116530046
You wanna sell some to me? I’ll take the miles Davis, death, OM, bathory, max roach and nirvana albums
>>
>>116529235
>no way i'd start now that it's so fucking expensive
hundreds of millions of vinyls were released over many decades. only the new shit or extremely uncommon records are "expensive".

>>116529890
CDs never went away. millions of the fuckers are pressed every year.
>>
>>116530046
unless they're lossless flac versions on your phone? if not then you might just be retarded.
>>
>>116528968

Most recent purchases, but just the tip of the iceberg
Buy used on Discogs for dirt cheap
Rip them to ALAC format and put them on my iPod classic from 2005 that still holds a charge like a boss

I mostly just use YouTube and slsk for sampling , but any album that I really like I will buy on CD and rip myself.
>>
>>116530387
is it actually that much better than streaming? genuinely curious

Old photo of my collection. This is an embarrassing amount of prog, my taste is a lot broader now, but there's some stuff here I still think is cool.

yeah I despise digipaks, its a shame that they are sometimes the only option for some albums I want to get, especially new releases. Jewel cases are just so much better in all ways. With second hand CD hunting I just take what I can find :)
