He had songs with new-agey names like Aqua or something like that, and was a pianist with a French name and a cool compound surname I think (think of Merlau-Ponty for example). Reminded me of new age and ambient in general, but also of Tubular Bells in specific. Has vocals I think. Has music videos too. He wasn't obscure at all, but I don't remember if it was from the 70s or the 80s or the 90s HELP. I got reminded of it while listening to Clouds Suite by David Gates for some reason.
