Band's last album is their best
>>114700673So how long would you say you’ve been pretending to like this album for? How would you rate your success with this fake persona? Did anyone take notice or give a shit yet?Ah well, maybe if you keep it up for a few more years the “big pay off” you’ve been hoping for will finally come.
>>114700673Few will understand
>>114700748I don't tell anyone it's my favourite album so why would I be pretending? This album changed my views on music and opened my mind, it's one of the few records that touch my heart
>>114700763No it didn’t. You listen to it and pretend to like it so you can tell other people that you do, and for no other reason. You think that appreciating abstract, post art rock music somehow makes you “deep”, “cool” or “smart”. That is why you posted this thread; your intentions are entirely performative.I don’t think I’ve ever posted a serious discussion thread about any of my favourite artists, because my appreciation of them is so natural and genuine that I never stop to consciously think about it. It’s like breathing. There is no reason why I would ever need to verbally announce my liking for it in a totally unprompted manner or ask for anyone else’s input on it.You are a pretender and you have been exposed.
>>114700847Dude I just posted about it because I decided to listen it in CD after months, and thought it'd be an interesting thread because it's odd that a band achieves its peak on its last work, chill out
>>114700748>>114700847This person is suffering of a deep personal crisis. It's over for him, please be respectful and think twice before mocking him.
>>114700859You can lie to others but you can’t lie to yourself. What inspired you to begin this project? This fake persona. What were you lacking? Actual talent of your own? Personality? Charisma? Expertise in some area? Why did you feel that you so deeply lacked any genuinely impressive personal qualities to the point that you would seek out credit by proxy through performatively pretending to like another adult male’s art?Why is who you are not enough? No, don’t go back to the act. Drop it. Don’t try to keep hiding behind plausible deniability. Stay with me. Stay present. Be real for once in your cowardly, fake existence. Just for 5 minutes, then you can go back to the fictional charade. It’s an anonymous forum, nobody will ever know.Answer me.
>>114700968No, sorry. It’s too late for that now. You have already been exposed as frauds. If OP genuinely liked the music, he would initially have immediately responded by listing off and describing the actual sonic elements of the listening experience that he appreciates, and why he appreciates them, with timestamped YouTube links as examples used to demonstrate. This is something I can easily do at a moment’s notice with ANY of my favourite artists at ANY time. The only reason he has instead replied TWICE with vague, avoidant attempts at emotionally persuasive language is proof in and of itself that he knows I’m right. He knows he has been found out, and it is making him sweat.
>>114700748>>114700847>>114700971>You're pretending to like the album because I decided that you're pretending! Imagine being proud of being a close-minded idiot. >I don’t think I’ve ever posted a serious discussion thread about any of my favourite artistsThat's a problem, that's not something you brag about. You're the guy that exits the theater having watched the latest marvel slop and all you have to say is "I loved it bro!" yeah you're so natural and honest, and REAL. >>114700992wait a minute, first you make a point about how serious discussion is bad because it's unnatural and now you're saying you should do it? An idiot being inconsistent? and possibly even dishonest? Why I never....
>>114701011Do you love your mother? Yes or No?
>>114701011>>114701060Answer me, cunt.
>>114701060Yes I love my mother and I last saw her yesterday.
>>114701143Do you swear on your mother’s life, or may she die in her sleep tonight, that any of the “arguments” you just made in this post >>114701011 were actually in genuine good faith, and that you actually believe them to be substantive, non-strawman responses to anything I’ve said? No. Don’t avoid the question or change the subject. Just answer Yes or No.
>>114700748Not him but I hated this album with a passion until recently.I can't stop listening to New Grass and I also like After the Flood.I don't care much for the rest though.
>>114701164>were actually in genuine good faithNo they weren't, I made them because you were being an idiot. They're about as substantive as the garbage you were spewing. You literally contradict yourself, in one breath you say that you've never posted a serious discussion about something you like because it is simply TOO genuine to be thought about, in the next you demand detailed analysis as to why OP enjoys Laughing Stock. By your own principle, the less OP writes about the album the more he enjoys it. He doesn't have to think about it, he listened to it and loved it, it was that simple. Here's what I can swear on. I can swear on my mother's life that I love Laughing Stock, that I'm not pretending to enjoy it for clout. I don't have social media, I don't have any place where I make whatever shit I enjoy part of my personality.
>>114701214>New Grassgreat song
>>114701217>NoI didn’t think so. Don’t insult my intelligence and deliberately try to stall and waste time with your fake, contrived sophistry again, you spineless liar.
>>114700847>>114700748>>114700971Dude, it's just artsy jazz rock. It's not that hard to get into..
>>114701605It's not hard to get into, but I don't blame him if it's not his taste. But what he's doing is just the most pathetic thing I've ever seen, he's picking one of the most accessible albums of the modern music canon to "demonstrate" how people only pretend to like it. He doesn't pick truly experimental stuff. It's pathetic, making himself look like a retard who can't appreciate, even if he doesn't like it, that it's at least well done.
>>114700748>>114700847>>114700971what the fuck is this lmao
>>114700748Oh, it’s you again. I take it that you’re still seething over Captain Beefheart, right?
Anybody else greatly prefer LS to SoE? SoE is alright, it doesn't really do it for me. The production of it feels greatly inferior, the loud parts are too loud and the quiet parts don't really leave the same room for the instruments to breathe in, unlike LS which sounds just perfect. Spirit of Eden has a weird flow to it, depending on what version you have, you either have a 23 minute long opening track, or 3 separate ones leading into a second half that feels pretty different to the first. Only weakness of LS really is that Runeii is a pretty mediocre closer, every other track on the album is superior. Laughing Stock is one of my most listened to albums ever, I rarely go back to Spirit of Eden, and if I do it's usually just to listen to "Eden" I do prefer the art of SoE though.
Colour of Spring is their best tho
>>114700673people say this album was very good but I don't know if it's their best because I have only listened this album from this band
>>114702481SoE is one of the greatest albums of all time, LS is just the greatest. Learn the difference.
>>114700673Fight me. I think it's tied with October rust.
>>114700748Just like how you pretend to like Oasis? Fuck off
>>114700847>pretend to like itBro, I pretend to like normie dad rock to cover for this sort of shit.
>>114700673There’s no wrong answer desu so I respect it
>>114700753Not my favourite but weirdly good and definitely their best late period album. Didn’t think they could pull off a 16 minute psych rock thing but they did
>>114702832New Plastic Ideas is better imo
>>114701217Why do you hate your mother so much?
>>114702832It's the best, but the rest of their discography is amazing as well
>>114700763>>114700859>>114700968>>114701011>>114701143>>114701217>>114701792>>114704566How are you people still falling for the /PTLMG/ guy’s bait? He goes out of his way to use reddit spacing in every post, and he shit up this board for like 3 months straight making the same thread every day, yet you newfags still don’t recognize it and get sucked in.
>>114705969Weirdly good is the perfect descriptor, it sometimes feels like you’re on the verge of saying a song is bad or too long, then that moment never comes, and by the end you’re like that was pretty good actually. Pedestrian Wolves is so sick
>>114700748How come you don't ask the people who post Ice Spice threads why they're pretending to like her?
>>114700673i was going to post we will always love you but as much as i love the album is really not the best avalanches
>>114708535There is only one (1) reason to like Ice Spice and it’s very obvious.
>>114708565The answer is this is all you need.
>>114700748No, it really is good.
>>114700673>Listens to mega mix and gets all they're catchiest songs in one go https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTWmdrSr85I
I think both volumes count because they were released back to back and it was the first time they had released anything in a decade.
>>114700847>You listen to it and pretend to like it so you can tell other people that you doI never tell anyone about what I listen to, much less this.>You think that appreciating abstract, post art rock music somehow makes you “deep”, “cool” or “smart”.I never think about how the things I enjoy make me look. That would be like worrying about how your headphones look when listening to music.>That is why you posted this thread; your intentions are entirely performative. You sound like you think you're smarter than you really are.>I don’t think I’ve ever posted a serious discussion thread about any of my favourite artistsThe fact that an artist gets talked about doesn't mean that no one likes them, or that they're trying to trick people into liking them. The fact that you're so intense about this concept of people trying to trick people into thinking they like things you don't like is really strange to me. A few weeks ago you told me that no one likes Mercury Rev. I don't have anything to add here, I just think it's strange how this has consumed you so much that you post constantly about how anybody who likes something you don't like is lying. Every time I'm on here, you're on here. Your pattern of writing is very recognizable. Your tone is very emotional to a cartoonish degree. The urgency with which you write this stuff is hilarious given what you're saying. If you told anybody about it in real life, you're probably start falling over your words and they'd look at you like the words coming out of your mouth aren't making sense. Talk to a professional anyway, because from your tone, you sound really distressed.
