Do any of you have a vinyl collection?
i have over 50 records but don't have a record player anymore
>>105962170No, just FLAC.
>>105962170Yes, I have a vinyl collectionpic unrelated
>looking for the limited-to-500 vinyl version of one of my favorite albums on discogs>first guy to list in in 2 years is a frenchie who doesn’t ship to the us
>>105963509i would message the guy but I don’t even know if he speaks english. is international shipping a negotiable thing there for people who don’t do it by default?
>>105962170I prefer to call it an investment than a collection
i collect cds
>>105963562>is international shipping a negotiable thingNo. There are laws regulating all that shit. Governments will try to get as much money from you as possible. I got pic related on vinyl from Discogs from a Swiss lad. Being in a EU shithole, I had to pay 1/4 of the album's value + shipping as a VAT tax because my country's laws fuck you very badly.
Yes, a collection of vinyl outfits
Can anyone recommend me a good record player?Preferably around $100, definitely not more than $200
>>105963734I have an Akai, it does the job
>>105963698well really what i meant was “are there sellers on discogs who don’t ship internationally by default, but can be convinced to if you give them the money.” I don’t know how fluid the settings are for the website.
>>105962170Nope, only CD's and MP3 :c
>>105962170nah just pirated mp3s
>>105963822I don't think they're going to sell. The shipping cost and the responsability to send a record that far is too much for them and having an insurance would be too expensive and not really efficient.
Yes. It's quite large. I need to start selling again.
>>105963941How much for Pet Sounds?
>>105963956$285OG mono in VG+Not for sale.
>>105964001It's worth that much? Holy shit glad I have one
>>1059621702000 90's 12" dance records800 LP's from all years2x Technics turntables and mixerGues what I used to do for a living
>>105963684Same, I have around 300 or so.>>105964215Gay dance club DJ?
>>105962247if you have this many records or even half this many records, you probably don't even care about music. you only care about collecting. You would have to spend all your time cleaning your vinyl, replacing your needles, and would have spent 10s of thousands of dollars on plastic and audio equipment. you could just use streaming (there are hifi streaming services) or bought cds (you can buy cds for a couple dollars each or several dollars new, no maintence required). that being said I do have several vinyl records gifted to me from my dad and a record player but I buy CDs 99% of the time
>>105964409>you probably don't even care about music
>>105964431I said >probably. Just because people are audiophiles or collectors doesn't mean they really enjoy music. They probably do to a degree but not necessarily any more than I do. To be a musician you don't necessarily need 50 guitars, keyboards, amplifiers, effects pedals, etc. all you need is one instrument and the passion for music. Similarly, collecting vinyl isn't necessary at all to be an enjoyer of music. You can just listen to youtube and mp3 if you want (not that I suggest that).
>>105962170yeah, only a few tho, mostly mucore or rymcore such as pink moon, deathconsciousness, LYSFLATH...
>>105964327Whoever paid me, but not gay venues. I did do some mixed/gay parties. Gays have their own sets of hi-energy type tracks, and dance mixes of stuff like It's Raining Men.It's means buying a whole set of tracks without much crossover appeal
>>105962170No because I’m not gay. I have my youtube favorites list where half the songs have been taken down by copywrite claims.
>>105963473Message him and beg. Explain what that record means to you.
>>105962170yes, lot of old school hh vinyls>>105962221that's gay
>>105964580Don't be pretentious. It's a bad look.I have my large collection because I love music. Having a physical library to explore in my own home is something that adds to my enjoyment of music. Hell, sometimes I blind buy stacks of records just to discover new things.
>>105965173>Calls out for being pretentious>Buys records at random like sperg so he can "discover new records">Probaly lays down on the ground and closes his eyes while listening to his records so he can feel like he's in a movie / tv show
>>105964409I have around 150 records so far, I enjoy taking care of them, it's part of what makes music so great.
>>105962170>tfw i found out my Spirit of Eden/Laughing Stock copies have scratches/surface noise because i was retarded and thought the thick plastic lyric sleeves would be sufficient for protection
>>105962221cringe>>105963684moderately based>>105963734autio technica 60lp whatever its called, should be maybe $120 or less>>105963871phenomenally based, have a blessed day anon>>105964409>>105964580based passionless retard>>105964613listen to more music, im begging you>>105964747>youtubekill yourself
yeah.It's fun, honestly.
What does it mean to put weight on a record? How much weight is effective? What does it do? Just got into it
>>105967980you might add a bit of weight to counteract the turntable skipping, but its generally not encouraged to adjust beyond what the weight recommendation for your cartridge since too much weight can damage records. generally you want a turntable where you wont have to worry about skipping (a turntable > $100 will probably accomplish this) and itll have a counterweight where you can safely adjust weight without doing stupid shit like taping pennies to the tonearm
>>105968068I have a Technics SL-23, how can I tell if I've fucked up the weights/am potentially damaging vinyl? I have a couple records that are warped ever so slightly so I usually just use those as a reference and tweak the tonearm/dial until they play without skipping.
>>105965173I'm not pretentious, I have a couple records. If it adds to your enjoyment of music, that's good, but I still don't think its that practical of a means of enjoying music for most people. >>105965386ok, 150 records? the person in the picture has at least 1000 records, maybe closer to 2000. if you are buying records new ($30 on average, $15-20 for cheaper ones but nearly $100 for more expensive ones) thats 1500 x 30 = 45000. 45 000 dollars. thats really too much money to spend on something you can get for free
No, I collect cassette tapes
>>105962170yes. Coolest one I own is a signed copy of Soft Machine's Third
What's the most you've paid for a piece of physical music?
I got a reel to reel deck for free a couple days ago. What do I do now, bros?
>>105962247he could never have listened to all those albums. its impossible unless he plays one right after another. a true poser
>>105968237I have two thousandThe guy in the pic has a lot more
>>105962247Isnt 1 of those squares like $1k
>>105962170Chucked it out years ago.
>>105962170i have a vinyl collection. it's literally a collection of a (1) vinyl. some bosa nova album from some literal who brazilian guy. never listened to it and never will.
>>105968237Vinyl was cool back when they were dirt cheap, often people just gave entire collections away. Then you could discover weird shit, crate diving, just picking up armfuls here and there for pocket change. Paying any serious amount of money renders the whole thing stupid. Kids today are utter dolts.
>>105969245how many $$$???
>>105969398Have I spent? No idea I have been picking them up since before internet
>>105963822I'd disagree with the other anon, if you offer the seller enough money, I'm sure they could be convinced, I know I'd ship something internationally if it meant I could make more money off of it.
