Talk about guitars and gear or something.
>>
>>103361164
what a stupid fucking trend, people that play with their guitars slung low in general annoy me

Anyone knows anything about park amps ?
Someone is selling a park gb50-15 in my town for less than 100€, wondering if I should grab it.

>"so yeah, I got sent this $3000 guitar and I didn't like the tone, so I sent it back. Then they sent me another $3000 guitar and I didn't like the tone of that either, so I sent it back too. Now they sent me a $5000 guitar and is ok, but the back is slightly too wide"

Who keeps sending these mopes expensive guitars to fuck around with?

How do I get them to send me guitars m
>>
>>103361197
You can thank jimmy page for popularizing the fuck out of that. I wish I could play with my guitar slung super low.

probably richfag LARP, also any true connoisseur of acoustics knows buying online is a crapshoot
Acoustics really seriously need to be played before you buy, even the exact same model and configuration can have slightly different voices

why get a yamaha when you can get a no-name guitar from walmart?
why get a guitar from walmart when you can play a shoebox with rubber bands stretched across it?
why get a shoebox when there's free music software?
why use music software if you can just sing?
why sing if you can just imagine music?
why imagine music when you could spend your time on literally anything else?

The issue isn't the fact that expensive acoustics exist. The issue is that many people on the acoustic guitar forum seem to get sent guitars to play with them send them back. Do they have to pinkie swear to buy one?

I'd ask then myself but they seem to have range banned me.
>>

Could someone tell me what effect is used on this song (and also throughout most of the record)? Is it just a ton of reverb? I'm clearly a guitar newbie.

>>
>>103361944
When you spend 3k+ from a specialty store, you get a week or more with it to see if you like it, or pay the restock and return shipping fee. It's not labeled as such but it's expected. You usually don't see it for electric boutiques though.
>>
>>103362039
I don't hear anything besides a shit ton of fuzz.
>>
>>103362039
Turn back before you get too deep. First you're asking "what effect are they using in the song", pretty soon you've been meme'd into selling your car for a broken fender and a faulty messa boogie with a shopping carts worth of "boutique" pedals.

Got a Meris Enzo. I have no idea what kind of wacky shit i was smoking thinking the Enzo was somehow an analog pedal. I think because pedal mfg’s are still still using analog connections between pedals, I assume they're analog. I guess I didnt count on the retardation of people, which i should have since geetars are still mono even though they have 3 fucking pickups, because in my mind, the fucking 90s we already had fiber optics connecting shit, so you only convert your signal to digital once, not, like in these enlightened times where we use a thousand pedals and be sure to run our tortured signal through AD-DA conversions for each fuckin unit. Wtf people get it together. A high quality set of converters ought to be on every pickup, then the signal only either gets converted back to analog on its way from your amp to tye speaker, or not at all if recording direct. How hard is that to figure out? Jfc

>I don’t know what “public domain” means
Ok retard, prepare to get educated.
The Behringer Super Fuzz is a clone of the Univox Super Fuzz, a circuit from the late 1960s.
If it was patented when it was originally released, the term would have been for 2 years, so by the 1990s it would be released into the public domain. When something is “public domain”, anybody can copy it all they want without restriction or penalty, including you if you want to. Which is how the DIY pedal and amp cloners can do what they want.

It’s not thievery because everybody is playing by the rules of the game.

Besides, electronic circuits cannot be patented. They’re just arrangements of components. The circuit board designs and layouts can be, as can schematic drawings (as considered works or art), but design your own board layouts and draw your own schematics and you're in the clear. This is all very well-trod legal ground, and the Chinese know it just as well as everybody else. They’re playing by the rules too.

That’s how everybody and their brother can make their own Tube Screamers and Fuzz Faces without running afoul of Ibanez or Jim Dunlop, who own the official names of the pedals. As long as they don’t use the trademarked names, use their own circuit boards and schematic drawings, the originators can’t do a thing, legally.

fucking retard. ill never understand why people accept doing a shitty job at things. you know you can just google things right?

What you should have done is rolled up the mesh on the end of the wire like pic related. Then you tin it, meaning heat up the mesh and melt solder into it without soldering it to the pot yet. Next straighten out your signal wire and tin it, just a little bit on the tip. Put the tinned wire through the lug, use a pair of needle nose pliers to put a hook on the end so it'll stay put while you solder it, then solder it to the lug with a tiny amount of solder. You just need enough to fill the lug hole up and secure the wire. Then solder your ground to the back of the pot. If you can't see, use a light and a magnifying glass.

I can't tell how badly you fucked up the mesh where you tried to solder it, or if you burnt through the cloth insulation, but worst case scenario you cut the wire at the fucked up spot and start fresh, just with short little baby leads now. You can always solder jumper wires onto the lead if you need to.

Like a 25.5" Les Paul with better sustain and a nice tight bright sound instead of muddy and "warm". The only one I've played had a pretty medium neck, but there are some out there with big chunky necks and some with slim necks. If I bought one, I'd commission a new one from the guys at EGC, vintage prices are fucking stupid. The one in the pic I posted is on reverb for like $7000, and EGC will build you a new one for around $5K. https://youtu.be/FOSz9BWy87E
>>
>>103366402

Active pickups are very low noise and output a low impedance signal. As a result the tone produced by the pickups is very clear and stable, even over very long cable runs (such as through a massive all-true-bypass pedalboard).

>Muddy and flabby

There are many models of active pickups and they're EQ'd differently.

Been working on a concept for a custom pedalboard. Not really satisfied with anything I'm seeing out there.

Overall size is 28x16". Each level has 5.5" of pedal space (the middle will overlap with the top by half an inch). The top level will hold eight Boss pedals, the middle and bottom will hold six (plus a full-sized Crybaby wah). The bottom is intended for a looper and will fit a Quartermaster 8.

Bluegrass is lonesome sound, on its own.
country is more akin to rock/blues

Originally, active pickups were designed to get around the conundrum of having a clearer and more precise sound (a hallmark of underwound pickups) without the weak volume output of those pickups.
Then metalheads discovered they could use the active preamps to blow out the output and get BRÖOTÜL TØANZ, and the rest is history.
You can still get jazz-oriented active pickups that are not intended to distort, but they are a special-order only proposition. Metal has completely taken over the active pickup market now.
>>
>>103369906
Didn't EMG invent the active pickup specifically to take distortion cleanly though?

Now make it ludicrously expensive.

I’m 25 and picking up the guitar for the first time. I got this MIM Stratocaster in the mail on Friday and I’ve been practicing chords for an hour every day. I can’t wait until I get good enough to play a song, but I’m really struggling right now. I can’t get used to moving my hand up and down the neck for the life of me.

Nah man, just learn the c major scale, and the minor pentatonic scale all the way up the neck.

Once you do that alot of things open up. Once you know where all the whole notes are, everything else is just small adjustments.

Learn barre chords, and learn the root notes of the bar chords. This will allow you to travel anywhere.

And dont think about ngmi, just think about your realistic goals.
>>
>>103373856
I started at 31 and have below average hand size, and “substantial hearing loss” in mid range frequencies. Been playing about 7 months, can play standing up, do all the 1234 variations at 210 bpm, can do multi bar strumming patterns and chord changes for playing gospel and blues with my family, barre chords, know all the notes on fretboard, and can hear the key of most songs and key changes. About to start learning different scale modes and work on fingerpicking. I have to work a lot harder than the other people in my program but I’ve passed every week; I practice in about 45 minute sittings 3-5 times a day every day, and it’s 95% structured practice. I’ll work on learning something I want to play if I need a mental break. It’s not too late to start if you’re willing to put in the work and have a clear outline of how to get there

Should I be worried about fret wear 6 months after buying a new guitar?
All frets from 7 to 15 are already flat on top and show some rough edges compared to the higher register.

I can't be needing a refret after 6 month, right?
>>
>>103375161
Really? post pics
>>
>>103375324
I tried to but can't seem to focus on the frets, the "shine" is blurry. The dead giveaway is when rubbing the tip of my index finger over it, you can feel some kind of sharp edge. And they're visibly flat on the top.

It's a $1500 guitar and the unused frets (low E higher register) are impeccable.

It almost always turned into hours of practice but it was ok if I had to do something else and it never felt like a chore. Your biggest enemy is ego and expectation just adds fuel to the fire, the reality is you will have some days where you think you suck and some days where you feel like you're really getting better and it's largely out of your control. The fact you're seeking validation on a forum is a big red flag to me that you're ngmi

Learning to play the guitar can be tough, especially in the first few months. It hurts and nothing goes as intended. Hang in there, it gets much easier. You're never too old to get at least good enough to play music you love. Yeah maybe you'll never be an amazing virtuoso but even that isn't impossible with a lot of practice. An old collegue of mine started at 35 and became a very decent jazz and classical player just by playing 1+ hour every day for a couple of years.

It's easy. 1.5 top of the fret to bottom of string starting from the last fret E to G
1.55 D
1.6 A
1.7 E
Depending on your setup, you could just make it 1.5 on all strings based on the last fret of the fret of the respective string.

https://youtu.be/KbVw7pUJqfg[Open]
Please everyone, let’s post reviews of this dudes playing since he’s always posting ‘post playing’ and shitting on others.
Like let’s take an HONEST look at this example. This is his finest Playing. So much so he is using it to advertise his playing in hopes of getting a session guitarist gig.

The presentation is sad. The room is filthy, he’s ungroomed. The guitar looks tired and worn down despite being relatively new. The walls are filthy, like he’s rubbing dirt on them. The bed is unmaid, and clutter is everywhere.

The tone? What amp is it? Horrid. Spikey treble break up. Very poorly mated to his playing style as well. His pick technique leaves no room for articulation or dynamics. Every stroke is hard, too hard in fact. It leaves a spike of treble for the poor listener. No bass whatsoever. All you hear really is the snap of plastic plectrum on string. Louder than the guitar itself. Horrid horrid sound.

Next the rhythm. What’s to say? It’s not even competent. There is no tempo it all. It’s just cabaret on the guitar. Each phrase comes with a new tempo, extra beats are added in 4/4, 5/4, 6/8? Constantly changing. Hard to really even say it’s any of those. This playing isn’t even close to something that could work with other players.

Tonality? Well it is in key, some what. The bends are not. They are horrid and distracting. The player isn’t capable of playing this piece either so perhaps that’s why there is no sense of rhythm at all. Too much thinking over notes. Very bad. And repeating the same runs too much. I just can’t see what any artist would want to hire this player for. Should have bought a metronome and lessons instead of 4 guitars and mods for all of them, what was he thinking?
>>
>buys 300 shit plank that he saved up for 4 years

>makes it worse

If you seriously mean that I doubt you’ve ever played a 3000 guitar. I agree it’s too expensive but the difference between a <1000 dollar guitar and a 1000+ guitar is night and fucking day.
>>
I’ll say it again. Look at this honestly. And assess it fairly.

Mix is terrible and the production is worse. I think there might be a fungus growing on the wall. Visually unsettling and an eye sore. Makes one question why post video at all.

The composition ? Well dirivative and old fashioned at best, but amateur at worst. At no point during this ‘soulful jam’ is anything melodic considered. The ‘artist’ descends through the F scale and presumes we the audience will be in awe. Really the sound of plectrum hitting a string is the loudest most audible piece of this track. Made worse by a plywood acoustic guitar that can only amplify bass tone. THUCK THUCK THUCK. If the player is committed to this instrument he should consider reassessing his technique so as not to muffle his own music with hideous perusssice sounds. Hard to imagine these are intended when they fall out of time a few bars into the jam.

The bass playing is entry level and inaudible. Desperately attempting to rein the guitars to the groove.

The electric guitar. What’s to say? At no point does the playing actually sync up with the other two instruments. Which is hard too so when they already miss the groove themselves. Mindless noodling yet obviously the player struggled to author this lead portion. The struggle is his inability to play the instrument comfortably. It sounds like a struggle. Harsh technique sends spikes to the ears. While the author reminds his viewers he has chosen the key of F, he clearly forgot to inform the lead guitar who has entered his own world where pitch is academic based on numbers on a fretboard and not an audible frequency. Typically one would recommend a professional grade instrument fkr serous recording artists. One with PLEK’d frets and quality materials. This one can’t stay in tune as the player moves about the Biarritz, professionals will over come this tuning the guitar for the key they are in. This is amateur. 2/10
>>
>>103377585
Looks like a locking tuner from the thumb grip groove. That's not how you use them anon, pull the string straight and taut through the hole then tighten with the locking mechanism.
>>
What’s more, if anyone actually posds playing who is the first to respond? The Brazilian worm. He rages and seethes at other ‘competition’. His lot in life is low and the guitar is his realm and any who date challenge him must be attacked. This is his mindset. Gibson? ‘Well you’re too rich to be good at guitar!’ If you were smart like me you’d have just spent your income modding a Chinese particle board single cut!’

Mesa Boogie? ‘Wow so compressed and 1985 I have a class A Alien combo amplifier and it’s better so nice try, should have learned scales like me, did I mention the word Lydian and modes? I know those ’.

With this context 1/2 posts on /gg/ starts to make sense. Insults come only from one man. A seething poor worm bodied asshole jealous of talent and gear. He’s been banned repeatedly, but is so pathetic he comes again and again driving away actual community members.

Years of this yet only 17 dislikes on his YouTube and a few views. When will his lucky break come? When will he be recognized by the world for his talents?

Contrast his playing to blooz lawyer. BL plays for fun. He doesn’t want views to fame. His amp is dialed in to Match his guitar. The intonation is perfect. When he plays soft it’s clean and smooth. When he bends it adds vocal clarity and always finds the correct pitch. His pick attack increases and overdrives the amplifier adding articulation and expression to the playing that Sam’s amateur mind hasn’t yet to even consider. Sam knows ba scale or two. But he sucks. He can play notes but he can’t play them in a pleasing way and it’s a fundamental technique problem. Some old faggot hobbyist posts 29 seconds and just utterly pulls his whole foundation from beneath him.

If Sam spent less time gear fagging and defending condors and modding shit and obsessing with money and making it he might have discovered nuance.

I’d recommend selling his shit and getting a real job before he’s too old.

>>103377824
IME the point of diminishing returns is fairly low. The difference between a cheap piece of junk and a quality instrument certainly is night and day, but guitars begin to get good way below a grand nowadays. You can get an excellent guitar for around 600 - 800.

Those 4 black screws are for the pickup mounts? Like the 2018 or 19 Gibson HP Modern LP

The pickups are mounted to the pickguard. The bolts on the back attach the neck to the body.
