What is the band or group that will absolutely devastate you when they break up or a member passes away?
>>101822266Nightwish
>>101822266Many already happened. I don't listen to music from the 21st century very often. The last ones that made me sad was when Holger Czukay and Scott Walker died.
>>101822266Limp Bizkit
>>101822266death grips :(
Does it count if 1 member has already died?
>>101822266None, really
The strokes
Boards of canada
>>101822266Daft Punk
>>101822808nah that would never happen, theyve been together for so long
I honestly can't think of any and am kind of surprised so many people have one. Way I see it is that we've already gotten what we loved from them so it doesn't really matter. Does that put me in the minority?
>>101822287Heh
The Beatles
I was 10yo when my dad bought me their CD. So many memories related to them.
daft punk
Oasis
>>101822987>>101823013>>101822903>>101822742Who invited a bunch of zoomie top 20 faggots to here?
>>101822266I don't really get devastated unless a group suddenly breaks up in the midst of their career. If its something like Daft Punk where no new material is put out for years, it does suck but its not a huge deal ultimately because theyve been gone for so long that they've been dormant to me. Bands reunite and collab all the time as wellseeing a member of a group pass away though will suck, because of the finality that happens through it.
They Might Be Giants
>>101822287I didn't know they broke up
Anthony Green or Deron Miller.
I'll probably actually cry once one of the core members of Iron Maiden dies
>>101823431Wow, why
I will genuinely weep.
>>101823698Shall I tell him or is someone else going to do it
Jeff Lynne, Ringo Starr and Talking Heads would hit me the most
I don't care that much about any modern band. I guess I'll be sad when the Avalanches call it quits cause I've been following them since I was like 7, but there last two albums weren't that great
My big one is Will Cullen Hart. Mostly because Bill Doss is already dead
>>101823715Chi is dead I know. But when the band hangs ups I will feel incredibly empty.
Hetfield. I hope he quit alcohol.
shane is the only living artist that affects me on any emotional level
I'll be really sad when Doug Martsch passes. Steve Albini too.
jeff rosenstock

I unironically don't think the impact bowie's passing had on me can be surpassed. He really had an impact on me in me late teens that few others had.
Ozzy.

>>101822266Viper the Rapper
>>101822266None re: break up to be honest but as for passing away, I am hurt when any of my favorites do
>>101825677Better to break up than force more music that is mediocre
>>101822266>Ringo will die within your lifetime
>>101822266It was tough to see Bowie go, Flea's death will be pretty sad, Beck will suck to lose. ultimately there is too much music out there now to feel any one loss super hard. good musicians will always persist, you just have to find them.
Probably Tool. Danny Carey will be 60 this year and it's quite obvious another album won't be coming out before he gets too old. Justin Chancellor is also who inspired me to play bass. Memes aside, the band as a whole has been a big part of my interest in music and no other band scratches the same itch as they do.

Iron Maiden for sure. Black Sabbath and Metallica most likely.
>>101822266I have artists I like more than MF Doom but none I will care more about their passing. He was it.>>101822266
>>101822266None because I don't develop parasocial relationships with the artists I listen to.
>>101822266Coldplay, just because they've been there in the cultural background for all of my remember-able life. Yeah Daft Punk was a similar feel.
>>101822266SuedeDamon Albarn, that one's gonna hurtEnoJarvisJack WhiteFutureheadsMaximo Park, though they're already down two founding members so it doesn't really countField Music mainly cause I've met the brothers in person several times and know their families and stuff so it's too personal now
Bowie was one of the last mega-mega-star deaths, I don't think we'll see another like that until Kanye or Beyonce in like 30-50 years time
>>101822742Kek who gives a fuck
I'll be pretty sad when Milton Nascimento, Lô Borges or Chico Buarque dies. Any member from Sonic Youth would be pretty sad too. But I think none of these will make me feel the same way I felt when Bowie died. Band breaking up, that would be Phoenix. After Daft Punk yesterday, I started to wonder if Phoenix might be ending soon too.>>101823772>>101824520>>101825830These

back when I was a teen and Paramore broke up that shit was tragic, because I knew the path they would take would ultimately be indistinguishable pop music. Could've been like Skillet
Idk ive already had a bunch of artists I really like die. Off the top of my head, DJ rashad, jonghyun, sophie, ralf hutter, probably some rappers that got shot, etc. Nothing hurt as bad as jonghyun and idk if anything will be quite that bad again. Whenever bernard sumner kicks it I will be depressed for sure
Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally of Beach House.
If gucci mane or chief keef die untimely deaths I'll be devastated actually
when peep died i really was fuckin devastated, if bladee or king krule passed i would probably lose it

>>101829852>when dylan passes ill be fucked upThis one will be actually sad for me. Fripp, Eno, and Peter Gabriel might be three others too.
if steve roden or susumu hirasawa died i'd fucking cry like a bitch for at least a whole day
>>101830719Sasu ripatti would be a crushing blow for sure
>>101823431same, discovered them through my dad when i was a kid, still have great memories of listening to them with my dad in a cottage out in the woods, miss those days
i don't think the death or breakup of any band or musician could devastate me. that said, i'll be pretty bummed out when john zorn dies.
Michael Gira and Phil Elverum will suck. Maybe David Tibet.
>>101832017yeah fuck didn’t think about Zorn. Actually changed the landscape of free improv and the edgier parts of popular music for good. Him and Christian Wolff of the big name composers for me.Tbqhwy I might tear up when Steve Vai passes.Really though when Trent Reznor goes i’ll feel empty inside.
