There's a lengthy article about Jason Molina's last few years that is depressing as fuck
>>

>>100875653
I remember reading that he was feeling good and on the upswing when he died of liver failure, but I don't remember where. More tours and albums were planned
>>
>>100875694
When he died he was finally making new music but constantly in and out of the emergency room and couldn't afford rehab anymore because of medical bills.

Pretty sure this is the most in depth article that covers a lot of the final year struggles.

>On Christmas Day, December 25, 2009, Chesnutt died from an overdose of muscle relaxants that had left him in a coma in an Athens hospital. He was 45 years of age.[6] In his final interview, which aired on National Public Radio 24 days before his death, Chesnutt said that he had "attempted suicide three or four times [before]. It didn't take."[8]

>According to him in the same interview, being "uninsurable" due to his quadriplegia, he was $50,000 in debt for his medical bills, and had been putting off a surgery for a year ("And, I mean, I could die only because I cannot afford to go in there again. I don't want to die, especially just because of I don't have enough money to go in the hospital.").[8]

Doug Hopkins
>suffered from chronic depression since childhood and had been battling alcoholism for many years.
>formed the Gin Blossoms in the 80's as the band's lead guitarist and principal songwriter
>in 1990, the Gin Blossoms were one of the hottest local bands in Tempe and the surrounding areas, and they signed a contract with A&M Records.
>was resistant to signing to a major label, feeling like its property, and reacted with stubbornness and more drinking.
>When the band recorded its second studio album New Miserable Experience in February 1992, it was reported that Hopkins was unable to stand during his recording sessions. Faced with the prospect of firing Hopkins or being dropped by A&M, the band terminated Hopkins.
>The band then withheld $15,000 owed to Hopkins until he agreed to sign over half of his publishing royalties. >Hopkins was also required to relinquish his mechanical royalties to his replacement. Hopkins reluctantly agreed to these demands because of his dire financial situation.
>New Miserable Experience went on to become a multi-platinum album.
>As the Gin Blossoms experienced mounting success performing songs he had written, Hopkins became increasingly despondent. Although he had always dreamed of having a gold record, when he received one (for the song "Hey Jealousy"), he hung it up for two weeks before taking it down and then destroying it. Nine days later, during an intake consultation in the detox unit of Phoenix's St. Luke's Hospital, Hopkins purchased a .38 caliber pistol. The next day, December 5, 1993, Hopkins died by suicide.

Elvis or Ian Curtis.

Elvis:
>social retard who can only talk to teenage girls without sperging
>starts to crack from all the pressure
>eats 20,000 calories a day and does drug cocktails to keep himself occupied
>dies while trying to shit out 6 deep fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches
Now it doesn't sound all that bad in some ways, but remember how slow this process was. He killed himself for 20 years straight after peaking gloriously after living his first 20 years in poverty. He probably only felt alive for a year or two.
Ian:
>loves to be a generic punk band singer
>can't find success
>accidentally finds a producer who makes him famous by completely remixing his band's style in a way that couldn't be copied well live
>tries to make up for poor live performances with flashy shows
>has a seizure every fucking time because he's epileptic
>no one likes the music he actually liked to produce
>never enjoyed his stardom even once
>normies started misinterpreting his lyrics
>kills himself before what outsiders would think to be the biggest moments of his career, but were probably actually the most depressing
>his band clearly didn't agree with his style because they became a generic synth band without him

>>
>>100875519
The reason he died was because his managers wanted him to insurance fraud. Also one of his managers was a woman who was playing with his wee wee. She convinced him to insurance fraud by ODing so they could make money. She left him there to OD and so did everyone else involved with it. The two little kids got blamed for it even though they tried to help him and got kicked out.

So sad how he was abused for money by the music industry. You can read all the details in his moms lawsuit. The worst part is the music industry does stuff like this everyday. They only care about money and he was a cash cow they were milking.

The real tragedy is he had talent. They make as much money with some random clone nobody as they did with lil peep. The manager lady probably still plays with wee wees.

I agree with Ian Curtis, people still don't understand the lyrics. It's always about depression, his epilepsy, or something oversimplified. You probably need to exercise some demons.
Some people are naturally addicts, but a lot of addicts are trying to cope with something.
The guilt of killing my brother drove me to meth, a combination of therapy and 12 step programs helped me get sober but only after I had decided to take my problems head on and realizing I was powerless over meth. It also helped that I was on the verge of homelessmess and at rock bottom.
The wound never really heals but you should get real with yourself about why you drink.

In all honesty, I love seeing artists sacrificing themselves for their art. It's like their suffering just fuels their artwork and everything gets real. Syd Barrett

> In March 2010, Linkous was about to move into a spare bedroom in the Knoxville home of bandmate Scott Minor; Linkous was apparently in the process of breaking up with his wife of 19 years, Teresa.
>In the early afternoon of March 6, 2010, Linkous was drinking Kentucky bourbon with Minor and friend DeWitt Burton at their home. After receiving a number of text messages on his BlackBerry that left him distraught, he told Minor and Burton, "It's not good." Linkous quietly retrieved his ITM Arms rifle from an upstairs room, then told his two friends that he was going for a walk and exited through a back door. At about 1:15pm, a witness saw him sit down in the alley near Irwin Street, aim the rifle at his own heart, and pull the trigger. Linkous was declared dead at the scene

Definitely Kristy MacColl
>In 2000, following her participation in the presentation of a radio programme for the BBC in Cuba,[11] MacColl took a holiday in Cozumel, Mexico, with her sons and her boyfriend, musician James Knight. On 18 December 2000, she and her sons went diving at the Chankanaab reef, part of the National Marine Park of Cozumel, in a designated diving area that watercraft were restricted from entering. With the group was a local veteran divemaster, Iván Díaz. As the group was surfacing from a dive, a powerboat moving at high speed entered the restricted area. MacColl saw the boat coming before her sons did. Louis, age 13 at the time, was not in its path, but Jamie, age 15, was. She was able to push him out of the way (he sustained minor head and rib injuries), but she was struck by the boat which ran over her. MacColl suffered severe chest injuries and died instantly.
